Secrets Chapter 13
Rory was home, soaking in the bathtub. She was trying to relax. Earbuds in. Audio book on. She drifted away, enjoying being drawn into the story. She was tired. Her day had gone down hill from her meeting with Sheldon. She somehow erased the recording of the mayors' speech concerning the clean up of the City parks. She had to go online and listen to it again, this time taking notes. This took up the time she had planned on researching his campaign promises. Because of the extra work, she only had time to grab a cup of coffee for lunch.
Logan entered the apartment. "Ace," He yelled. He didn't get an answer, but he knew she had been home. Her laptop bag was hanging on the study door, where she always left it. Her shoes were by the couch. He walked toward the bedroom, stopping at the study to leave his things.
When he got to the bedroom, he could smell the lavender of her bathwater. He could see the flicker of the candles. She must have had a hard day. Rory usually didn't indulge herself, pampering herself without a reason.
He stood in the doorway, just watching. She is beautiful, head back, eyes closed, hair in a messy bun on top of her head. Yes she is beautiful. The love he felt for her was bursting out of his heart. He loves her so much it hurts. He couldn't stand the thought of her belonging to anyone but him.
Yes, he thought it. Belonging to. She was not property, but he belonged to her and her to him. There was no way around it. His heart quickens thinking about the possibility of losing her. The hell with the plan. He had to have her now.
She was so relaxed, she didn't hear Logan come in. He scared her when he bent down beside the tub to kiss her.
"I didn't hear you come home," She said. "I called your office today, John said you were out for the rest of the day." She handed him her earbuds. He put them on the vanity.
"Why didn't you call me on my cell?" He asked, turning back toward her. He was on his knees beside the tub.
"I didn't want to bother you. I just wanted to hear your voice. I had a bad day, that was besides my mother calling non stop." Rory sighed. "I have been ignoring her calls, which means I will have to call her tonight." She said, He could see the sad look on her face. "I've had an awful day."
Before she could tell him about her day, Logan pulled the ring box out of his pants pocket and opened it. She was surprised. "I had a plan. I promise, Finn and Colin have been helping me plan this for a month, but standing at the door, watching you relax like that, I just could wait any longer. Please Rory, will you marry me?"
Rory was smiling and crying all at the same time. Logan opened his mouth to ask for an answer, but she pulled him into the tub with her. "Yes, Yes, Yes. I love you Logan."
As on que, the house phone began to ring. "No," He said. "Let the voicemail get it." She nodded her head and kissed him again. This time holding her ring finger out for him to put the ring on it.
Later, they were lying in bed, when Logan's cell phone rang. He sighed before reaching for it. "I'm hungry." Rory said, getting out of bed to go get the take out menus. He was smiling. She was naked. Not a stitch of clothes on her. She knew he was watching, that is why she had the sway in her hips.
"That ring looks good on your finger, especially when it's the only thing you have on." Logan said as he answered the phone. His grin threatened to become permanent on his face.
"Huntzburger." He said answering the phone while trying to scoot up in the bed so he could watch Rory out the bedroom door.
"Hello." Logan said. "Anyone there" The call was dropped. He looked at the caller id, but it was just a number. No name, which meant he did not have the number programmed in.
Rory entered the bedroom with the take out menus and a bowl of ice cream. "Who was on the phone? Don't tell me you have to go to work. Please. I want to enjoy you as long as I can. You know when word gets out about our engagement, we will not have any peace." She was laughing. "Chinese or pizza. Oh, have about trying that new Greek place on the corner, you know the one that used to be Plaza Pizza?"
She hopped in bed, causing his phone to bounce. She glanced at it as she picked it up to give to Logan. "That's my mom's number." She said, "Why did she call you?"
"I don't know. When I answered, the line was dead." Logan said, grabbing the Greek menu out of her hand.
"I need to call her, but I don't want to bust this bubble we are in." She told him.
"Text her. Tell her you will call tomorrow, you are going to bed." Logan said. She nodded, grabbing her phone. She texted her mom, then turned her phone on 'do not disturb' They were determined they were going to stay in their bubble for the rest of the night.
