Leilani didn't really want to stand up. instead she burrowed herself more into her rain's chest.
Colonnello chuckled "Morning Skull."
She uttered an answer back, not willing to open her eyes just yet.
The soldier just smiled as he pulled her even closer while his hands threaded through her hair, careful not to entangle himself "Don't want to get up?"
She shook her head, before sighing as he corrected the blanket just right.
"Not hungry?"
"Hungry for cuddles. I'm starving for that."
He laughed, "I can give you that."
"Good. That's why you're mine."
His smiles softened even more at that statement and his heart pinged almost painfully. He closed his eyes, leaning back again and kept on holding her while his fingers played with her hair.
He only let go when his phone vibrated, slowly picking it up to read the message "They are ready?"
"For what?"
"Breakfast."
"They always are."
"They prepared it though."
"I sure hope so. Lal's on duty."
"The rest helped."
"Really?"
"Yeah, kora. We're eating outside. Picnic for breakfast."
"Does that mean I have to get up and get dressed?"
"Yeah."
"But… cuddles."
"We can keep on cuddling. I can feed you."
"Promise?"
"Obviously, kora."
She nodded, burying herself even more into him for a moment before slowly letting go to crawl out of bed.
The soldier followed, stretching himself while she carelessly picked a random dress out of her wardrobe. Looking at it for a second and then lifting it up to his face "It's your eye colour."
"I picked it, kora."
She smiled, "Then it's perfect."
He chuckled before they both got ready.
The two of them held hands, while they made their way outside to the garden, where a few blankets were placed on the ground to make enough room for everyone.
Leilani waved in the round as a greeting as she looked at the huge assortment of food. While it was true that she hadn't wanted anything special… it kind of warmed her heart a bit to see how they still put in an effort.
Her rain leaned down to give her a kiss on her head before letting go to figure out where Reborn had hid the coffee.
Leilani was still trying to figure out where she would sit when she got distracted. Was it almost klischee how her brain got rerouted by the slightest unimportant thing when nothing was at stake? Maybe slightly.
She was crouching next to the blanket, looking at the worm that was wriggling across the earth. She had a history with bugs after all. She faulted her animagus form for it though.
Reborn cleared his throat "Would you give your attention to the more important thing?"
"Like what?"
"Food?"
"I can and will eat a bug." was her simple response.
"Skull."
"What?"
"It's breakfast time."
"So?"
"Time for real food."
"I dare you to dare me to eat a bug."
The hitman sighed exasperatedly, "You know most girls squirm when they see bugs."
"That assumption is sexist." She picked up the worm and raised herself up, watching it wiggle between her fingers.
"What are you even trying to prove?"
"Am I disturbing your appetite?" She grinned at him, not letting go of the worm.
"Yes."
"Good." and with that she lifted her hand up dangling the worm over her mouth, her eyes sparking in amusement at the poker face that Reborn was donning.
The hitman raised an eyebrow "Finished yet? You're bluffing."
"Am not" she lowered the worm, actually ready to drop it in her mouth but Colonnellos hand was quicker, snatching the worm away and dropping it while simultanly stuffing a grape in her mouth.
Leilani pretended to suffocate on it "I'm dying. You served me poisonous food."
The soldier just raised an eyebrow amused.
She had fun though "Oh no I'm dead." and with that she just let herself fall backwards.
Even with his quick reflexes, he was barely able to stop the back of her head from crashing against the floor. Kneeling half over her, one hand under her head the other stopping him from crashing onto her.
She grinned up at him "You took my food. Now I'm starving."
"I gave you proper food."
"I have to inform you my godfather had a very sustainable diet of rats for a whole year and he was a perfectly good man. I was the one who fed him chicken, made him more human."
"And that is bad?"
"He's a dog."
"...alright."
"But now I want meat."
"We have meat."
Her eyes sparked up mischievous "I see that." and with that she chomped into his arm, not harming him, not even actually biting him.
The soldier had to laugh pulling her up with that arm as she immediately held onto it to not get it taken away as he properly sat up, her between his legs as she still chomped down on his arm.
Fon had watched the exchange quite amused, handing the soldier a sandwich "Try to feed her with that. Maybe she let's go."
"Who says I want that, kora?"
Leilani snickered at that reply but did let go of his arm as soon as he held the sandwich under her nose.
Verde sighed "You're supposed to take your supplements before you eat."
Leilani shrugged as her hands wandered into Colonnellos jacket pockets to pull them out "Yeah, yeah. Won't kill me."
She did take the pills before she let Colonnello feed her more. She didn't even open her eyes, just enjoying the fresh air, sunlight and the bites Colonnello fed her.
To her great joy she didn't even have to get up when they were finished. Instead the rest of the group took care of the clean up.
Colonnello did keep his promise and so she just happily curled against him while he held her close, his fingers tracing invisible patterns on her skin.
"Skull, kora?"
"Yeah?"
"Have you thought about what you want to do today?"
She hummed "I did."
"And the result was what?"
"I want to play a game."
"Which one?"
She opened her eyes, the mischief sparkling in her eyes again as she looked at the group "Hide and Seek."
Viper tilted their head "Mou, We have no chance of finding you."
Leilani laughed "That's the fun part. We played way too often games at game nights where you all were favoured. So I want to play my favourite game."
"You want to observe us searching for you for hours?"
"Exactly. It's fun. Don't worry I will stay in plain sight."
"So you're not hiding?"
"I will be hiding but still stay in plain sight. It's the challenge. I make it very easy though."
"Why does that sound like a lie?" Lal asked.
Leilani giggled "it's not that hard if you know what to look out for and well… always remember if you actually manage it you will know how I did it all these years. I still think you won't manage but it's just so funny to look at you guys faces. To have you stare directly at me and still not find me."
"So you want us all to search for you?"
"No, Reborns the seeker and we all hide. Everyone that gets found turns in a seeker also. If I find you before him though you will have purple socks and they will stay on for a month. Reborn gets them if he isn't able to find me."
"Is there a time limit?"
She contemplated it "seven hours. if you don't manage it. I will never tell you."
She jumped up "So… who's ready?"
The group groaned slightly but they did get up. To their great shame, the second they had entered the forest and everyone's eyes were elsewhere Skull vanished. It wasn't more than five seconds but as soon as Colonnello turned around he could find no trace of her.
He had to whistle, turning around on the spot to find any kind of lead where she went but the only things he could see were a few animals and the rustling of leaves.
It was still something he couldn't quite get used to or understand. Sure, Skull was tiny but this… this wasn't just size, especially as they could hear no human steps walking through the forest besides their own.
