It had been a week since Elizabeth had thought Nathan had been shot. She knew she had to talk to both Nathan and Lucas but she just didn't know what to say.
"Elizabeth, talk to them," Rosemary says as they were having a girl's night. "I know, Rosemary. I will talk to them but I first have to sort out my feelings," Elizabeth says.
"Well, first, how do you feel about Nathan?" Rosemary asks. "I like Nathan but when I thought he had been shot, I was so terrified. I didn't want to lose him but I also don't know if I could do it again. I care about Nathan so much and don't want to live my life in fear if it gets to that point," Elizabeth says looking at Rosemary. "Elizabeth, you are the strongest person I know. If you really love Nathan, wouldn't your love conquer the fear?" Rosemary asks.
Love? Do I love Nathan? No way, we haven't even courted yet and I still don't know if I'm ready for that yet.
"Woah Rosemary. Nobody said anything about love. And then there's Lucas," Elizabeth says confused.
"Alright, now's a good time to talk about Lucas. How do you feel about him?" Rosemary says curiously. "Well, Lucas is Lucas. Sometimes I fell like he's hiding something or not really saying what he really feels," Elizabeth says.
"Elizabeth, if you feel that way, why don't you talk to him?" Rosemary asks. "You're right, I'll talk to him. But I also need to talk to Nathan. Thank you Rosemary," Elizabeth says.
"I should really be going now. It's getting late and Laura should really go home. Bye Rosemary, thank you for everything!" "Bye Elizabeth!"
As Elizabeth walks a few feet to her home, she realizes that Rosemary is right, she will talk to both men. Tomorrow.
Nathan, at his office, recalls that day. Elizabeth had embraced him in front of the whole town. He didn't know what this meant but was giving her some space to sort out her feelings. When she was ready, he knew they would talk. But until then, he wait.
Bill walks in. Noticing Nathan was distracted, he asks what's going on. "Nathan, Is everything alright?" Bill asks. "Is this about the young mountie who lost his life? You know it wasn't your fault and he was the one who pulled out his gun," Bill reassures him.
"I know it wasn't my fault but still, he was so young. He shouldn't have lost his life." Nathan says.
"But that isn't what I was thinking about." Nathan says. "Then what were you thinking about?" Bill asks but already knows the answer. "I don't want to talk about it. I should really do my rounds." Nathan says as he walks out of his office.
Sigh. That young man. He has so much inside that head of his but just won't say it. Bill says to himself.
The big day is here. Im going to talk to Nathan and Lucas and finally get some clarity. I have no idea what to say but I believe it will just come out naturally on its own.
As Elizabeth walks out of her house, she thinks to herself, am I doing the right thing? It doesn't matter if it's right or not. Laura is watching Little Jack and she know her son will be in good hands.
Okay, first stop, Lucas's saloon.
