Chapter 2: Time for something new

I just want to thank y'all for the support! I will be regularly posting new chapters on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday! I will let you know on my Twitter, @wcthlover8, if anything changes or if I miss an upload date, so follow me there if you want! Feel free to review and tell me how you think about it! The chapters will most likely be short and I am sorry about that! I would make them longer but I just want to focus on one event per chapter! Enjoy! :)

Elizabeth had decided to go see Lucas first. She didn't know why but trusted her gut. As she was nearing the saloon, her heart started racing. She was very nervous and anxious to hear what he had to say! 'Deep breaths Elizabeth' she said to herself. 'Here we go!'

She enters the saloon. She looks around and sees Lucas running all over the place. Of course! He now owned two businesses and was very busy. He saw her and came up to her. "Hi Elizabeth," "Hi Lucas. I can see that you are very busy and I should come back later," she said as she was walking out.

"No," Lucas calls out. Elizabeth then returns to Lucas. "I'm not busy enough to talk to you. Sit?" Elizabeth nods and sits by Lucas.

"What brings you in here?" Lucas asks. "I was hoping if we could talk. Lucas, I...," Elizabeth says before being interupted by Lucas.

"Elizabeth, before you say anything, I have something to tell you," Lucas says. "Okay?" Elizabeth says confusedly. "Recently I have realized something. When I first meant you, I thought you were an incredible woman, still do.

But, I noticed Nathan was also interested in you, I made him my competition and you my prize. I was only telling you what you want to hear so I could beat Nathan. It is unfair to you so that's why I've decided that you should choose Nathan," Lucas says like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders.

Elizabeth was so confused. So all of those gifts and non-dates were just for him to beat Nathan? Wow! I'm glad be told me before I actually started talking for him.

"I don't know what to say. Thank you for being honest," Elizabeth says, still shocked. "You're welcome Elizabeth. I should really get back to work. You have a pleasant day!" Lucas says. "Bye," Elizabeth says on her way out.

Now, it's time to go to the mountie office and speak to Nathan.

'Here we go,' Elizabeth says to herself for the second time. She knows and goes inside. "Hi Nathan," Elizabeth says nervously. "Elizabeth, hi. What brings you in here?" Nathan asks. "I was wondering if we could talk?" Elizabeth asks, still nervous. "Sure, about what?" "I choose you Nathan. I realized I don't have feelings for Lucas, nor does he have them for me. I was so afraid of falling for you, Nathan, because you are a mountie. I realized that I shouldn't live in fear. Being a mountie is a dangerous job but I trust in you and God that you will live. Is the dinner invitation still available?" Elizabeth asks.

Now I know what Lucas feels like. Like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I can finally breathe.

"Yes, of course," Nathan says. "I'll come by your house the day after tomorrow, at 6:00, for our date. Sounds good?" Nathan asks. "Sure. But, where are you taking me?" Elizabeth asks. "It's a surprise!" Nathan says. "Okay. I better get home to Little Jack. See you then. Bye Nathan," Elizabeth says before walking out.

'I can't believe that just happened! Never in a million years would I think she would've chosen me. Now, where am I taking her on a date? I only have 2 days to figure out!' Nathan thinks to himself.

"He said what??" Rosemary asks very shocked. "I know. I'm kinda glad he did say that to me. I think I've always know that Nathan is the one for me. Lucas saying he doesn't have feelings for me solidified it even more," Elizabeth happily says.

"What did you say to Nathan , what did he say back?" Rosemary asked curiously. "Well...," Elizabeth started to say something and the blushed. "Elizabeth Thorton, are you blushing?" Rosemary asked. "Maybe I am," Elizabeth says embarrassed.

"Anyway, I told him I chose him and want to go on a date with him," Elizabeth says. "Oh Elizabeth! I'm so proud of you! You're opening up your hear again!" Rosemary says ecstatic.

"So, where's he taking you?" Rosemary asks very curious. "He says it's a surprise," Elizabeth says. "A surprise? I never thought of Constable Nathan Grant as a surprise guy," Rosemary says surprised. "Me neither. But we'll see. I'm sure it'll be great!" Elizabeth says excited. "Of course Elizabeth! I should get going! Bye," "Bye," They both say to each other.

Elizabeth is now at home. 'Oh Jack, you will always be my first love, but I need to move on. I know you would want me to be happy,' Elizabeth says to herself while taking off her wedding ring and putting it in a box. It's time for a new chapter!
