Kirk and Delta were in Sulu's plant room. They had been waiting for the Helmsman to show it them for weeks.
But Sulu was always busy. So Kirk took it upon himself to have a look around, along with Delta. Who wasn't sure.
"I'm not going to touch anything, Delta. I'm just looking, that's all."
Delta still wasn't convince by his Captain's words, so chose to fly above the plants. Just in case.
"Sulu's got some beautiful plants." Kirk remarked as he looked at one with gorgeous blue and white flowers. "Look at this one, Delta."
Being careful as to not hit any of the other plants, Delta flew down and l0oked at the flowers Kirk was showing him.
They were indeed beautiful. Clearly Sulu looked after his plants well.
"All the more reason not to damage them." Delta thought to himself.
Suddenly, Kirk swore loudly. Delta turned to see that Kirk had knocked over a bottle and a liquid was now pouring into the pot.
"Oh no!"
Slowly, the flowers began to wilt and lose their colour. Kirk and Delta stared in horror as the plant died in front of their eyes.
"Jim! What do we do?! How do we tell Sulu?!"
The young Captain just stared at where the plant used to stand, it was now just a pile of dust.
"I don't know!"
"How do you tell Sulu, what? And, what are you doing in my plant room?"
Both Jim and Delta froze in place at the voice which called from the doorway. Slowly, they turned round to see Sulu standing there, confused.
"Oh. Hi there, Sulu. How's it hanging?" Kirk said nervously.
Almost instantly, Sulu knew something was wrong. He knew when the Captain was trying to hide something.
"Ok, what have you two-"
Sulu had stepped further into the room while talking, only to stop when he noticed his now dead plant.
The room fell silent. No one talked. No one made a sound.
"We're sorry, Sulu. It was an accident!" Cried Delta.
Delta clung to Kirk as the Helmsman turned round slowly, his eyes locked with theirs.
"Jim?" Delta muttered.
"Yes, Delta." Kirk replied.
The small robot gulped quietly, while he held tighter onto Kirk.
"I think we should run."
Kirk didn't think that was needed. That was until he saw the look of anger in Sulu's eyes. That was enough to change his mind.
Suddenly, Kirk bolted. Taking Delta with him. While Sulu was hot on their heels, wielding his fencing sword.
Reports came in from all over the ship about Sulu chasing the two plant killers. Which went on for more than an hour.
When Sulu finally caught them, he gave them an earful. Telling them never to set foot in his plant room, unsupervised.
That soon became a rule which was told to basically everyone on the ship.
You don't mess with Sulu's plants.
Because no matter what rank you were, he would chase you down and make you pay.
It was just a shame that Delta and Kirk learned the hard way.
