A little over two months had passed since the night when everyone came together and fought off the walkers together to reclaim their home. It was a normal morning in the Grimes household. Rick was preparing himself to head out, having planned to go on a supply run today with Chef, Chris and Daryl as Judith was sitting on the floor, playing up with few plastic cups. She looked up at her dad and smiled at him and Rick smiled back at her, having just finished wrapping a belt around his waist.
"Do you have any toothpaste left?" Michonne asked, wearing a blue bathrobe as she stopped in the doorway to the room Rick and Judith were in right now.
"No." Rick shook his head as he looked at her. A playful smile grew on his face as he added, "Cause someone's been borrowing it every day for two weeks."
Michonne looked away from him and glanced towards the room where the last resident of their house was in right now, "Carl."
"What? Denise says it's PT." Carl replied, his voice muffled because of how in the distance between him and everyone else.
"I can't hear you." Rick said, exchanging smiles with Michonne, "Come on out."
Carl walked into their view a few seconds later, now having a bandage wrapped around the eye he lost two months ago, "What?"
"Denise says this is PT." Rick and Michonne said at the same time, both of them smilling at him playfully.
"You heard me." Carl stated, playing with a tennis ball in his hand.
Rick nodded in confirmation, "Yeah."
"It's time to change your bandage." Michonne stated, "And I need to borrow some toothpaste."
"Okay, but I'm out of toothpaste." Carl revealed as he tossed the tennis ball to Rick who caught it without any problem. He walked out of their view right after, "Bye, Dad.
"I'll see you later." Rick replied as Michonne shook her head. He walked over to Judith and picked her up from the floor, holding her in his arms. He started to walk towards Michonne with his daughter in his arms shorty after, "Come on, sweetheart."
"You be good out there." Michonne said as she moved to the side, allowing Rick to walk out of the room.
"Yeah, we'll see." Rick replied as he walked out of the room and started to walk away from the dark skinned woman, "
Michonne pointed at him as she watched him walk away, "Spearmint and baking soda. That's my favorite."
"Soon as I get it, you will." Rick replied.
Geoff hummed happily to himself as he stood in the kitchen of the house where he was living with Bridgette and Brody, having just finished putting the food he had prepared for Bridgette she would eat later during her work in the clinic. Preparing food for Bridgette had become part of his morning routine ever since he and his group defeated the group of the undead that invaded their home. He made this part of his morning routine and he will continue to have it as part of his morning routine for the next several months. as he didn't want Bridgette to overwork herself much.
The party animal smiled to himself as he felt someone wrap their arm around him from behind. It didn't took him long to realize who it was, "Morning Bridge."
Bridgette kissed him on his shoulder with a smile on her face, "Good morning to you too, Geoff. You woke up early again?"
"You know you don't need to ask me this question every morning." Geoff chuckled, "I already told you this will be my morning routine from now on."
Bridgette removed her hands from Geoff's shoulders and stepped closer to him to take a look at whatever he had prepared on the kitchen counter, "I see. You prepared me breakfast once again?
"Yup." Geoff nodded in confirmation, "I need to make sure my pregnant sunshine will not overwork herself much, especially since she has such a responsible job in our little community."
Bridgette kissed him on his cheek to show him her appreciation, "You're so nice, you know that? You don't need to worry about me overworking myself, though. Denise and I haven't had much job since the walkers invaded our home. All we're really doing in the clinic right now is checking our medical supplies and preparing her to deliver our baby once we will go into labor in the not so far future."
"If you say so. It won't stop me from this routine anytime soon." Geoff stated.
"I know." Bridgette smiled and kissed him on his cheek for the second time, before picking up the food he made for her from the kitchen counter, "I should go. Denise should be waiting for me at the clinic right now. I'll see you later."
"I'll see you later, babe." Geoff replied as Bridgette turned away from him, with the food he made for her in her hands.
The surfer headed out of the kitchen and made her way to the front door of their house. She pushed the door open and walked out of the house, beginning to make her way to the clinic as Geoff smiled to himself as he watched her head for her work from the kitchen. He looked ahead of himself a second after Bridgette walked out fo their house, beginning to lose himself in his thoughts regarding a certain matter he's been thinking about since he learned about Bridgette's pregnancy.
"Hey, bro." Brody made himself known to Geoff a few seconds later, pushing him out of this thoughts as he put his hand on his shoulder, "You know who's the best housewife? You."
Geoff chuckled, "Hilarious."
"Your kid will be lucky to have a dad like you."
"Thanks, bro." Geoff smiled, "I will do my best after he and she will be born."
"I know you will." Brody smiled back and patted Geoff on his shoulder, before turning away from him, "I gotta go for work. I'll see you later."
"Alright." Geoff nodded, "I'll talk to you later after we'll be done with our work."
Brody nodded back at him and walked off towards the door. He opened the door and exited the house, leaving Geoff alone in it. Geoff looked out of the window of the the kitchen and saw Bridgette walking in the direction of the clinic. A smile grew on his face as he watched her walk away, knowing just how much he loved this woman. He put his right hand on the index finger of his left hand and ran his fingers through it, having just made a decision regarding the matter he's been thinking about since he learned about Bridgette's pregnancy.
Daryl, Chef and Chris sat together in the car parked in front of the main, waiting for Rick to arrive. Chef rested his head on his hand as he looked out of the window to take a look at what was happening not too far from them. He saw Rock, Brody, Chet and a few other people the old wall and a new old had been built a few days ago, on the courtesy of B who was tirelessly at expanding Alexandria for the last two months.
"Hey." Daryl called out for Denise, having noticed her walking down the road as he was sitting on front passenger seat of the car.
Denise walked over to him with a questioning look on her face, "Yes?"
Daryl pulled out the list of supplies that he and the others should keep an eye on today and showed it to Denise, "This thing at the bottom right here. You're talking about the drink, right?
"I am, but..." Denise confirmed and paused for a second. She pointed at the bottom of the list and continued, "As you can see, I and Bridgette drew a line between the important stuff and that." She looked between Daryl, Chef and Chris, "I just figured, if you any of saw it."
Daryl nodded in understanding, "All right."
"We'll make sure to keep our eyes open for each item from this list." Chris added, sitting on the back passenger seat of the car.
"Anything remotely medical is a priority." Denise explained, And food, maybe even food before medicine, and gas or batteries or books for the kids or clothes is just- if you see it, if it just happens to, you know, be right there.
Daryl pointed at one item from the list, "You like it, right?"
Denise shook her head, "No, I don't drink pop."
Daryl raised his brow, "What the hell's pop?"
"You don't want what pop is?" Chris asked, "Wow. You really were pretty isolated from the modern world before all this started. Even Chef knows is it."
"I'll take that as something positive." Chef stated, sitting next to Chris, "Otherwise I'll think you're suggesting the modern world was unknown to me as well."
"Why you want it?" Daryl asked Denise, ignoring Chris' comment.
"Tara was talking about it in her sleep, I think." Denise revealed, "Either she likes it or she doesn't, but if she likes it, it'd be a really nice surprise. I'm not good with that kind of stuff, and she and Heath are going on that two-week run. I just thought it'd be a nice going-away present. Just, uh, don't go out of your way. And if it gives you any trouble..."
"I won't." Daryl shook his head.
"Don't worry. We'll keep each other safe out there." Chef added.
"Okay, good." Denise nodded, slightly relieved, "Dause it's not important. I should've said so instead of just drawing a line."
Daryl nodded in understanding, "Got it."
"We'll keep our eyes for it." Chris added, "Who knows. Perhaps if we'll be lucky enough to find it, then Daryl will learn what it is."
Daryl rolled his eyes, deadpanning, "Hilarious."
"Alright. Thanks." Denise looked at them with a grateful look on her face. She turned away from them right after, looking in the direction of the clinic, "I should go. I should be waiting for Bridgette at the clinic right now."
"Alright." Chris nodded, "I'll see you later if we'll be lucky enough to find your special order."
"Okay." Denise nodded back at him and walked off in the direction of the clinic.
Rick arrived at the gate and got himself into the car a few seconds later. He sat down on the driver's seat and looked around the people around him with a greeting looking his face, "Hey."
Chef nodded at him, "Good morning, Rick."
"You took your time." Daryl stated.
"Michonne held back for a second to give me her special order. She want us to find some toothpaste for us." Rick explained.
"Toothpaste?" Chris raised his brow at Michonne's order, "Why? You ran out of the toothpaste in your house?"
"Yeah." Rick nodded in confirmation, "Are you ready to head out?"
Daryl nodded, "Yeah."
"We've been ready long before you cared to join us." Chef added.
Chris opened the window of the door to the passenger seat next to him. He poked his head out of the window to look at Eugene who was standing next to the gate, "Eugene! We're ready. Open the gate!"
"Very well. I will get to it." Eugene nodded as he moved to open the gate. Rick started up the car and drove a bit closer to the gate as Eugene opened the gate. After making sure the gate was opened, he walked over to the car and stopped next to Daryl, making Rick stop the car. He pulled out a map and handed it to Daryl who instantly took a look at it, "I mapped out some of the agricultural supply places in the area. Even if they've been cleaned out, my bet is that the sorghum would be untouched. Now, that there is a criminally underrated grain that could change the game with our food situation from scary to hunky-dunky."
"Hunky-dunky?" Chef raised his brow at Eugene's choice of words as Daryl, Rick and Chris slowly turned to look at Eugene, staring at him silently.
"I'm talking standability, drought tolerance, grain-to-stover ratio that is the envy of all corns." Eugene explained, paying no attention to the looks Chef, Rick, Chris and Daryl were giving him right now, "Think about it."
Daryl looked away from him to take a look at the map again, "Thanks."
"We'll try to check some of those places out today." Chef added as Eugene nodded at him.
Rick started up the car again and drove out of Alexandria, driving past the abandoned cars Alexandria was using as decoys for the walkers who dared to approach their community as Eugene walked over to the gate and closed it again as soon as the car drove out of Alexandria. The car reached the end of the road a few moments later and Rick took a turn to the right, beginning to drive along the forested road.
"Today's the day." Rick said, trying to start a conversation with Daryl, Chris and Chef
Daryl hummed, "Uh-huh."
"Let's hope you're right." Chef nodded, "We could use a good find during the supply run."
"We're gonna find food, maybe some people." Rick continued, "The law of averages has gotta catch up."
"I don't know. We ain't seen nobody for weeks." Daryl pointed out.
"Perharps you are right." Chris stated, "Or perhaps today we will broken our bad lane and we will meet someone new."
"Is you say so." Daryl replied as Rick pulled out a music disc. He shook his head, immediately know what song this disc contained, "Don't. Please don't."
"Is this what I think it?" Chef asked.
"Yeah." Daryl nodded confirmation.
Chef pinched the bridge of his nose, "Rick. Anything but this song. Please."
Chris rolled his eyes at the way Chef and Daryl reacted to this disc, "Come on, this song isn't that bad."
"Yes. It is." Daryl replied.
"It isn't that bad? Like your boyband?" Chef asked.
Chris deapanned at him, "I thought we agree to never mention this again."
"Right. I forgot Chris was in a boyband." Rick reminded himself about this one fact about Chris, "What was the song Sierra was singing when we broke into the prison called?"
"Don't." Chris said, not wanting to talk about the embarassing stuff he did in the past, "Can we not talk about it?"
"You don't want to talk about it? Fine." Chef said with a playful look on his face, "We can always talk about something else. Like the one time when you were doing those videos about talking cats."
"What?" Rick asked, "Chris did stuff like this?"
Daryl raised his brow, "You really did stuff like this on the TV?"
"He did." Chef confirmed, laughing internally at the look Chris had on his face right now, "You should have seen the one time when he wanted to do a cooking shown and was cancelled after..."
"Can we just turn on the music please?" Chris cut Chef off before he could finish the sentence, feeling embarrassed by this conversation.
Rick shook his head with an amused look on his face, putting the music disc in the music player in the car. The music started playing right after. Daryl and Chef sighed at how bad the song was as Rick snapped his fingers a few times, trying to get them into the song. Chris did nothing as he was still too embarassed by the conversation he just had with the rest about the embarassing stuff he did in the past to do anything.
Duncan crossed his arms, leaning against the garage door leading to the armory as he waited for Sanders to finish preparing everything for the supply run the two of them have planned to go on with each other today. He and Sanders recently started going on the supply runs together as Sanders followed the advice he gave her after he returned to Alexandria from his recruitment mission with Daryl, Aaron and Brick and started going outside Alexandria more often to make sure she won't forget about the horrors of the outside world.
"Hey, Duncan." A familiar voiced pushed Duncan out of his thoughts he had going through his head as he continued to wait for Sanders to walk out of the armory. He turned to the source of it and saw Zoey walking towards him with a friendly smile on her face. She stopped next to him and pointed at his motorcycle, "Are you going somewhere?"
"Yeah." Duncan nodded in confirmation and pointed towards the opened door the garage next to him and Zoey, "Me and Sanders are going on a supply run today. We're planning to check out a small town not too far from Alexandria. She's making sure we'll have everything we need not to get ourselves out there."
"I see." Zoey voiced her understanding of his words. She looked at him questioningly a second later, "You're going a supply run again? Is this about the problem of our food supplies starting to run out?"
"Yeah." Duncan gave her another nod of confirmation, "I see you already know about it."
"I talked yesterday with Olivia about this yesterday after I went to get myself something to eat for dinner." Zoey explained to him where did she learned about their supplies starting to run out from.
"Alright." Sanders' voice rang through their ears as the police cadet walked out of the armory, "I have everything we need..." She paused for a second as she saw Zoey talking with Duncan, "Oh, hey Zoey."
Zoey nodded at her, "Hey."
"Where's B?" Sanders asked.
"He went to his workplace as soon as we ate our breakfast." Zoey explained, "There still are a few more things from Deanna's plans he wants to get done."
Sanders let out an impressed whistle and smiled, "There's more stuff he wants to get to done? He already more than enough during those past two months. I think he deserves a break."
Zoey smiled back, "I told him the same thing. He refused to take a even a few days break as he plans to continue to work on expading our community until he will make all of Deanna's plans a reality. He thinks of it as a way of honoring Cameron, Deanna, Reg and everyone else our community lost to get this point."
Sanders shifted her gaze back to Duncan, "As I was saying, I have everything we need for this supply run. We should go now if we want to come back to Alexandria before it will get dark."
"Alright." Duncan nodded and walked over to his motorcycle, "I'll go start up my motorcycle."
"Where are you two going for this supply run?" Zoey asked Sanders out of curiosity as Duncan sat down on his motorcycle.
"To a small town not too far from here." Sanders replied as she pulled out a map and showed the location of the said town to Zoey, "Heath and Sky told me about it when I talked with them yesterday. They haven't checked it out, yet. Perharps if I and Duncan will get lucky, we'll manage to make the problem of our home running out of food smaller."
"I see." Zoey nodded in understanding as Duncan started up his motorcycle, "I wish the two of you luck, then. I hope you'll find some food in this town."
Sanders looked at her with a grateful look on her face, "Thanks. Hopefully we'll have some luck today."
"Are you coming?" Duncan asked, waiting for Sanders to sat down on his motorcycle.
"Yeah. I'm coming." Sanders replied as she looked at him. She looked back at Zoey for a second and smiled at her, "Tell B we said hi."
"I will." Zoey nodded at them and smiled, "I'll see you two later or tommorow. Be safe out there."
"Don't worry. We will." Sanders reassured her as she walked over to Duncan and sat down on his motorcycle. She hugged him from behind, making sure she won't fall off the motorcycle as Duncan started driving towards the gate. Zoey smiled as she watched them drive away, before turning away and walking towards where she headed before her conversation with Duncan and Sanders.
Michonne watched them drive away towards the main gate from the watch tower. She turned away from then as soon as she saw them reach the gate and looked at the forest on the other side of the fence. She narrowed her eyes as she looked below her as she saw Spencer heading into the forest for some reason. Wanting to know why he would go into the forest all by himself, Michonne quickly climbed down the watch tower and followed Spencer into the forest.
Rick parked his vehicle in front of sorghum barn, having just spotted it from the road with Daryl, Chris and Chef. The four them got out of the car, with their weapons in ready and looked around their surroundings to see if there were any walkers close to them. There weren't. It didn't stop them from keeping their guard up, though as they knew there could have been some walekrs into the barm
Daryl crouched down and took off his backpack, intending to pull out something out of it. He put his hand in the bag and searched it for a few seconds, before pulling out a crowbar. He got up from the ground right after and walked over to the front entrance to the barn, "You cover it?"
"Yeah." Rick nodded, keeping his Python in ready as he stood behind Daryl with Chris and Chef.
"If any walker will come at you, we will kill it before it wil get close to you." Chris reassured Daryl, holding his own pistol in ready.
Daryl nodded at them as he used the crowbar to open the entrance to the barn. He opened it a few seconds later and stepped away from it. A white truck was the first thing all four of them saw when the barn was opened, but none of them paid much attention to it right now as there was one thing they had to take care of right now. Rick, Chris and Chef walked into the barn and split up to check if there were any walkers inside.
"It's clean on my side." Chris informed Rick, Chef and Daryl there weren't any walkers on his side of the barm.
Rick nodded, lowering his Python, "Yeah, we're good."
"How's the truck, Daryl?" Chef asked as Daryl walked over to the truck.
"It ain't locked." Daryl informed them after taking a quick look at the back of the truck as Rick, Chef and Chris walked over to him and pointed their guns at the closed back of the truck.
Daryl looked over his shoulder to look at Rick, Chef and Chris and Rick, Chef and Chris nodded at him, letting him know they were to act in case if there will be any walkers in the truck. Daryl nodded back to them and looked at the back of the truck once again. He quickly opened it and stepped away from it to prevent himself from getting caught between the gunfire if Rick, Chef and Chris will be forced to open fire. Rick, Chef and Chris lowered their guns as soon when they saw what was inside the truck. They saw a bunch of various supplies.
Chef smiled widely at the amount of supplies they just found, "I'll be dammed."
"The law of averages." Rick stated as Daryl climbed into the truck and picked up one random supply to take a look at it.
"Looks like today is our lucky day." Chris stated with a smile on his face.
"Yep." Daryl nodded in agreement as he tossed the supply he had just checked back into the truck and climbed out of it.
Chris reached his free hand forward, having just spotted something in the truck and pulled it out for everyone to see. It was a toothpaste, "Just look at this. It seems like Michonne will get her special order today."
"Looks like someone will make his woman happy today." Chef stated, looking at Rick with a playful teasing look on his face as Chris tossed the toothpaste back into the truck.
"Let's get this thing going, grab our gear, come back for the car later." Rick stated, paying no attention to Chef's teasing, "Take another way back. See what we can see."
"Think it'll start?" Daryl asked as he closed the back of the truck.
Rick nodded, "Yeah, I do."
"As long as pretty boy didn't jinx us by saying today is our lucky day." Chef added.
Rick drove the truck along the forested road, having managed to start it up without any problem after stumbled upon it as he was making his way towards Alexandria with the supplies he was lucky enough to find with Daryl, Chef and Chris. As he and his group continued to silently make their way to Alexandria, an abandoned gas station appeared in his and his group's view.
He took his eyes off the road for a second and exchanged glances with Daryl, Chris and Chef, asking them if they should check this gas station out without saying any words to them. Daryl, Chris and Chef nodded at him, letting him know they were okay with it. Rick nodded back at them and set his eyes on the road again, before turning the truck to the gas station.
The four of them got out of the truck and wasted no time in exploring the gas station. Chef walked over to the front door to of the gas station and tried to get it open, but the door was locked. He will have to ask Daryl to borrow him his crowbar. He glanced to the side to look at Daryl, intending to ask him to give him his crowbar for a second. No words left his mouth, though as he saw Daryl standing in front of a tipped-over vending machine.
"Yo, give me a hand with this." He called out for Rick, Chris and Chef, slamming his hand against the vending machine a few times to earn their attention. Rick, Chris and Chef nodded and walked over to him and help him with the vending machine, "Let's flip it over."
"Alright." Chris replied. He, Rick, Chris and Chef tried to flip over the vending machine to the other side, but unfortunely this task had proven itself to be too difficult for them. They were forced to stop their attempts at flipping it over and the vending machine was simply too heavy for them.
Rick took one step away from the vending machine, letting out a deep breath, "I don't think we got it."
Daryl looked between the truck and the vending machine, feeling how an idea just popped into his mind, "I got an idea."
He quickly explained his idea to his group and Rick, Chris and Chef nodded at him, deciding to go along with it as there couldn't think of any other option right now. Chris attached a chain to the truck and the vending machine as Rick got himself into the truck and started it up. After seeing how the chain was now attaching the truck and the vending to each other, he started up the vehicle and started to drive forward.
Chef wrapped his hands around the vending machine and flipped it to the side as Daryl signalled Rick the job was done. Daryl and Chef quickly started working on getting the chain off the vending machine as Rick turned off the engine of the truck and walked over to them with Chris. As he and Chris approached Daryl and Chef, he couldn't help but wonder why were they putting so much work into checking the vending machine.
"It's soda and candy. Why the trouble?" He voiced his question as soon as it appeared into his mind.
"It wasn't any trouble." Daryl replied.
Daryl and Chef didn't got a chance to finish what they were doing as an unknown person ran into Rick, pushing him towards the vending machine. Chef, Daryl and Chris wasted no time and quickly aimed their pistols at the unknown man. The unknown man stopped in his tracks and raised his hands as Rick quickly collected himself and set his eyes on the unknown man, making sure to aim his Python at him. He couldn't see his face, because his face was covered by a white bandana.
"Hi." The unknown man greeted them, keeping his hands raised.
"Back up! Now!" Daryl ordered.
"Keep 'em up!" Rick ordered.
"Don't try anything funny." Chef added as Chris stayed silent and continued to aim his pistol at the stranger.
"Whoa, easy, guys." The unknown man said, trying to calm them down a bit, "I was just running from the dead."
"How many?" Chef asked.
"10, maybe more." The unknown man responded, "I'm not risking it. Once it gets to double digits, I start running."
"Where?" Daryl wanted to know.
The unknown man gestured towards the direction he had just came from, "About a half a mile back. They're headed this way. You probably have about 11 minutes."
Rick nodded at him, sensing no danger from this man as he lowered his Python and holstered it, "Okay, thanks for letting us know."
"Yeah." The unknown man nodded back as Chris and Chef followed Rick's example and lowered their guns as well. Daryl continued to aim his gun at the unknown man, though, "There's more of them than us, right? Gotta stick together." He set his eyes on Daryl, "Right?" Daryl noticed him looking at him and reluctantly lowered his gun. Seeing how there were no guns aimed at him right now, the unknown man lowered his hands and asked,"You have a camp?
"No." Daryl replied, lying.
"Do you?" Chef asked as he narrowed his eyes at the unknown. He couldn't help but ask him why the clothes the stranger had on himself were so clean and looking like they were recently washed. If he really was alone, then how did he washed them.
"No." The unknown man shook his head, "Sorry for running into you. I'm gonna go now." He turned away from them, "If this is the next world, I hope it's good to you guys."
"I'm Rick." Rick introduced himself to the unknown man, "And these are Chris, Daryl and Chef."
"What's your name?" Chris asked, seeing no point if not asking the unknown man this question after Rick introduced all of them to him.
The unknown man stopped in his tracks and turned around to look at them. He took off his bandana, showing bearded face to them, "Paul Rovia. But my friends used to call me Jesus. Your pick."
"I can see why your friends would call you Jesus." Chris stated after taking a look at Jesus' face.
"You said you didn't have a camp. You on your own?" Rick wanted to know.
"Yeah." Jesus confirmed, "But, still, best not to try anything.
"Best not to make threat you can't keep, either." Daryl stated.
"Exactly." Jesus nodded in agreement as he turned away from them, beginning to ran off in his own direction.
"How many walkers..." Rick started to ask.
"No." Daryl cut him off, shaking his head, "Not this guy."
"How many walkers have you killed?" Chef finished the question for Rick.
Daryl shifted his gaze from Rick to Chef, "You too?"
"Sorry, gotta run. You should, too." Jesus replied, not answering to the question as he ran out of their view, "Think you've got about seven minutes."
Daryl shifted his gaze between Rick and Chef after Jesus ran out of their view, looking at them questioningly, "What the hell was that?
"He was clean." Rick explained, "His beard, it was trimmed."
"I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed it." Chef said, "There must be something more going on there. He didn't have a gun, either. We all know going out there without a gun is a suicide. We could track him, watch him for a while, get to know more. See if he's really alone. Maybe bring him back."
"Nah." Daryl shook his head, "Guy calls himself Jesus."
It was when some gunfire sounded behind the gas station, ending the conversation Rick, Chef, Chris and Daryl were having with each other about Jesus's suspicious appearance. The four of them quickly pulled out their guns, forgetting about the conversation they were having right now and moved in the direction of the gunfire. They arrived at the source of the gunfire a few seconds later and found out it was just a trick, because they firecrackers in a trash can.
Rick looked away from the trash can and looked over his shoulder at Chris, Chef and Daryl, "Firecrackers."
Chef shook his head, "Hell."
"Shit." Daryl cursed.
"Dammit." Chris sighed, "He took your keys, didn't he?"
Rick quickly checked if the had the keys to the truck in his pockets and quickly found out they were not there, "Oh, shit!"
Not wasting any time, the four of them quickly pushed themselves into run towards where they left the truck and made their way back to it. They saw Jesus shutting the door to the driver's seat and he quickly got himself into the truck.
"Sorry!" Jesus apologized to them for stealing their truck as he quickly started up the vehicle and drove off along the road, dragging the vending machine behind it. Rick, Chef, Chris and Daryl stopped on the middle of the road and they were forced to watch how Jesus just drove away with the truck filled supplies.
"Shit." Rick cursed.
Chef sighed, "Shit indeed."
Chris facepalmed, "I just had to jinx us by telling us today was our lucky day, didn't I?"
Spencer unmoving stood in one place between the trees, like he was frozen into it as he had his eyes set on the trees in front of him. He tightened his grip around his knife as he called out for a walker in front of him to approach over and over again. He couldn't see how the walker looked like as it was hidden between the trees in front of him. He let out a sigh as the walker came out of the trees, seeing it was no the walker he was looking for.
"I got him." Michonne's voice sounded behind him as she walked past him and swung her katana at the walker, separating the upper half of it's head from the rest of it's body. The now deceased walker collapsed on the ground as Michonne slowly turned around to look at him with a questioning look on her face.
"You think I couldn't get it?" Spencer asked her as soon as she turned around to face him.
"You could've." Michonne replied, gesturing with her head towards her katana, "I have a sword."
"Mm." Spencer hummed, nodding his head, "What are you doing out here?"
"I was on guard. I saw someone was in the woods." Michonne responded, "What are you doing out here?"
"I walk after my shifts." Spencer explained, "I've been doing it for a while. You're the first one to notice."
Michonne pointed at the shovel Spencer had wrapped around his back, "Why the shovel?"
"I'm gonna keep walking now." Spencer replied, avoiding the answer as he pushed himself into walk and walked past Michonne, walking further into the forest.
"I'm gonna come with you." Michonne offered.
"That's okay." Spencer declined her offer to join him, "Your mom told me I had to figure out what I want... for my whole life."
Spencer stopped in his tracks and looked over his shoulder at her, "Have you?
Michonne turned to look at him, "I'm working up to it. Right now I just want to find out why her son's wandering around the woods with a shovel."
Duncan and Sanders looked around themselves to take a good look at their new surroundings as Duncan had just parked his motorcycle next to one large building in and turned off the engine. The two of them had just drive into the town they've been wanting to check out today and found themselves somewhere in the middle of it as it was when one building they were interested in was located.
The juvie nodded to himself a few seconds later. It seemed like there wasn't a single walker in the area. He didn't lower his guard, though as he knew this could change at any moment. He looked over his shoulder to look at Sanders as Sanders looked at him. The two of them exchanged glances and nods with each other, knowing it was safe for them to begin their search of the town.
Duncan got up from his motorcycle and pointed at the building he had just parked next to, "Is this the place?"
Sanders pulled out map and took a quick look at it, before nodding in confirmation, "Yup. This is the warehouse Heath and Sky told me about when I asked them about the places we should check out in this town."
"Alright." Duncan nodded in understanding, taking his bow off his back and moved towards the warehouse, "Let's go."
Sanders nodded at him, holding her UMP45 in ready, "Right behind you."
They walked over to the entrance to the warehouse and Sanders grabbed the door handle to check if the door was opened. It was. She stopped herself from fully opening the door and glanced at Duncan for a second, wanting to know if he was ready to enter the warehouse. He loaded an arrow onto his bow and nodded at her after seeing her glance at him, letting her know he was ready.
She nodded back at him and opened the door. She went into the warehouse, followed by Duncan and the two of them immediately looked around the warehouse to see if there were any walkers close to them as soon as they entered the building. They lowered their weapons a few seconds later, noticing there wasn't a single walker in their view. The other thing they noticed about this warehouse was the amount of supplies they found in it.
"Looks like luck in on our side today." Sanders stated, referring to the amount of supplies and the lack of walkers in the warehouse.
"Yeah. Our group will definitely make a good use of the supplies from this warehouse." Duncan nodded in agreement, hoping Sanders didn't just jinx them as he unloaded the arrow from his bow, seeing no need of keeping his bow loaded for now. He stepped towards the shelf with various cans of food on it on his right, "Let's split up and see how much of this food is actually eatible and pack it into our bags."
"On it." Sanders nodded, pulling out an empty bag she intended to fill with the supplies as he stepped towards the aisle on her left, "I'll check the shelfs on the right."
Duncan nodded back at at her, having just walked into one aisle as he reached the shelf he was heading towards and stopped in front of it. He reached his hand forward and grabbed a random can of food. He checked it, finding it out was a can of beans and luckilly it hasn't expired, yet. He pulled out an empty bag and put the can inside it, before putting the rest of the cans from this shelf in his bag. He saw on reason in checking if the other cans from this shelf were expired after the first can he took it from it was good to eat.
He continued to move from one shelf to another in the aisle, putting more and more supplies of food and water in his bag. He made sure to check if the food on a shelf was expired everytime when he moved to check another shelf in the aisle. Unfortunely, he and Sanders couldn't take all of this food to Alexandria with them and some of this had already expired. He allow himself to think checking out this warehouse was a waste of time, though as he and Sanders will be bringing some food back home with them nevertheless.
He proceeded to do this for the next few minutes as it was the amount of time it took him to finish his aisle. He looked down at the bag of supplies and nodded to himself, satisfied with the amount of supplies he had gotten in the last few minutes. He made his to where he came and titled his head to the side to see if Sanders was done with her aisle.
He couldn't see her anywhere. It must have meant she was still working on her aisle. He walked over to the aisle she was supposed to be checking out right and saw her standing in the middle of it. The police cadet was holding a can of soup in her right hand, having her entire attention set on it. Duncan started to walk towards her, wondering what caused her to focus her entire attention of this one can of soup. Sanders didn't notice him walking towards her, even after he stopped right next to her.
"You alright?" He asked with a questioning look on his face, pushing Sanders away from her thoughts.
"Yeah." Sanders quickly glanced at him and nodded her head to reassure him there was nothing wrong with her, "I just got reminded of someone after I found this can." She showed him the can of soup to clarify her point, "I used to eat this kind of stuff a lot when I was a kid."
Duncan raised his brow at her, "Your parents were feeding you this?"
"No." Sanders shook his head, "My parents weren't always around when I was younger and my cousin Michael and his younger sister Max were taking care of me whenever they were away. They were always feeding me this soup whenever they couldn't make me something fresh."
"I see." Duncan nodded in understanding, "Do you know what happened to them? To your cousins."
"No. I haven't been in contact with them ever since all of this started." Sanders responded, "This can reminded me just how much I miss them. Michael is the reason I decided to become a police officer in the first place."
"Let me guess. He was a police officer." Duncan guessed.
"No. He was a military man, just like Chef and Abraham." Sanders replied, "I considered following his footsteps and joining the military, but ultimately I went with the police academy. I just felt like it suited me more than that the military."
"Have you regretted choosing it over the military?" Duncan asked out of curiosity.
"Not really." Sanders replied, "The more time I spent at the academy, the more I felt like this job was for me. Especially after I met McArthur and became friends with her. We promised each other to become police partners after we'll be out of the academy."
"McArthur?" Duncan recalled Sanders mentioning this name before to him, "She was your friend, right? She died at the start of all of this to give you more time before you found yourself at the hospital?"
"Yes." Sanders nodded in confirmation, "You know? I don't think about her often nowadays. The last time when I thought about her before you brought her up right now was when I found out about Dylan's death." She let out a saddened sigh, "I can't believe it's been only a little over year and a half since she. It feels like much longer."
"Yeah." Duncan agreed with her, "I think the same whenever I think about the people me and my group lost since all of this started."
"You know what's the worst part about it?" Sanders asked with a guilty look growing on her face as Duncan raised his brow at her, "I can't even remember how McArthur's voice sounded like. She was my best friend. She always had my back at the police academy whenever I needed help and right now I can't even remember her voice. I'm starting to forget how she used to look like as well."
"Don't feel sorry about this." Duncan told her, trying to make her feel less guilty, "I'm having the same thing whenever I think about the people who died since all of this started. I can't remember how my pal Owen looked and sounded like, because so much time had passed since he died and I think I'm slowly getting into the stage where I'm starting to forget those things about my other pal DJ and Courtney."
"Courtney? She was your girlfriend, right?" Sanders wanted to be sure.
"Yeah." Duncan nodded in confirmation as he grabbed the medallion he made out of the skull he made for Courtney's funeral and showed it to Sanders, "This skull over here. It's a replica of the skull I made for her shorty after we started a relationship back in Total Drama. I'm always carrying it with me as it is my way of remembering her."
"At least you have something to remember her." Sanders sighed sadly, "I have nothing to remember McArthur. All the stuff I could use to remember her is in our room back at the police academy if it hadn't been looted yet."
'That's not true." Duncan stated, "She still lives in your head. You still have your memories of her. For as long as you have those memories in your head, you will have something to remember her."
"...You're right." Sanders smiled at him gratefully, appreciating his words. She crossed her arms with a playful look on her face, "Wow. I wasn't excepting to hear something like this from you out of all people."
Duncan smiled back at her, "Don't get used to it."
It was when the sound of a shelf falling down to the floor sounded on the other side of the warehouse, immediately bringing Duncan and Sanders out of their conversation. They looked in the direction of all this noise, hearing the familiar snarling of the walkers coming from where the shelf fell right after. The two of them exchanged glances right after, knowing what it meant.
"Shit." Duncan shook his head, readying his bow, "Things were going so good. Of course something had to happen."
Sanders nodded in agreement, "Yeah."
Rick, Daryl, Chef and Chris panted heavily as the ran together along the forested road, having pushed themselves into run right shorty after their supplies filled truck was stolen by Jesus. They didn't know for how long they were running, having lost the track of time a few minutes ago. They managed to come across find the vending machine discarded in the middle of the road after a few more minutes of running.
Rick, Chef and Chris stopped in their tracks in front of the vending machine and looked ahead of them, hoping to see Jesus with their supplies filled truck in the distance. The three of them exchanges with each other, seeing Jesus and their truck were nowbere to be seen. They turned around to look behind them a second later when they heard something smash behind them and saw Daryl shattering the display case of the vending machine with his crowbar.
"Do you think we'll catch up to him?" Chris asked, taking a deep breath to catch his breath.
"We can only hope, pretty boy." Chef replied as Daryl pulled out bags of chips and orange sodas from the vending machine and stuffed his backpack with them, "I see you managed to find Denise's special order?"
Rick raised his brow, "Denise's special order?"
"Yeah." Chris nodded, "She wants to give these to Tara as a present before she and Heath will go on a supply run together."
"Alright. Whatever she wants." Rick nodded as Daryl opened one can of soda and took a sip from it. Rick took a sip from it as well and handed it to Chris. Chris quickly took a sip from it too and handed it to Chef. Chef took a long sip from the can, emptying it, "She and Bridgette saved Carl's life. We didn't know her, and she turned out to be all right. If there's still people out here, and they're still people, we should bring 'em in.
Daryl slouched his backpack over his shoulder, "What, like this guy?"
"No." Rick shook his head as Chef tossed the empty soda can to the ground, "Not this guy."
Chris nodded in agreement, "Definitely not this guy."
"We still got a trail." Chef pointed at the road below him to clarify his point and pushed himself into run. Rick, Chris and Daryl followed him, having regained their energy to go after Jesus after this short break, "Let's go."
Chef and Daryl ran in front of Chris and Rick, keeping their eyes on the tracks the truck left on the road as the group of four continued to make their way along the road. Rick and Chris ran closely behind them and did nothing else as they knew Daryl and Chef were much better at reading tracks than they were. Chef and Daryl signalled them to slow down after a moment, noticing the tracks they were following were growing fresher.
The group of four slowed down and took a few more steps forward. It was when their supply filled truck appeared in their view. Jesus was kneeling down in front of the front tire, seemingly having been forced to stop the truck in the middle of the road because of it. The group of four exchanged glances and nods with each other, deciding their next move.
They pulled out their guns and ran into the forest, deciding to approach Jesus from there. They made their way through the forest, making sure to be quiet enough as they didn't want to allert Jesus of their presence. It wasn't long before they made their way to Jesus. The four of them exchanged glances with each other, letting each other know they were ready to get their truck from Jesus. The four of them moved out right after, putting their plan into action.
Jesus got up from his kneeling position and walked over to the back of the truck, completely unaware someone was going to attack him in the next few seconds. He put the part he used to fix the front tire in the back of the truck, having no reason to use it anymore and closed it. He pushed himself into run towards the driver's seat, but never made it to his destination as Chef approached him from behind and wrapped his arms around him.
"Hold still and maybe we won't hurt you." Chef whispered to him, keeping his arms wrapped around him.
"Sure thing." Jesus replied as he grabbed Chef's arm and quickly punched him a few times in various places on his body, freeing himself from his grasp.
Chef's eyes widened, taken by suprise by Jesus fighting moves as Jesus pushed him away from him. He quickly pushed himself into run towards the driver's seat, but once again never made it there as he came across an inconvenience in his way in the form of Daryl and Chris. Daryl and Chris quickly rushed towards him, with the intention of knocking him down.
Jesus quickly noticed them charging towards him and prepared himself to take them down. Daryl and Chris attacked him together a few seconds later, but unfortunely their combined efforts were for nothing as Jesus dodged their attacks and took care of them. Chris was pushed into the forest and Daryl was shoved against the truck. It was when Rick approached him behind and wrapped his arms around him.
Rick quickly threw Jesus to the ground, making sure to not give Jesus any chance at fighting back as Daryl, Chef and Chris quickly collected themselves and approached him. The four of them aimed their guns at Jesus, not giving him any chance at escaping as Jesus looked up at them and sighed. He knew there was nothing he could do right now as they knew they will open fire at him if he will try anything right now.
"Do you even have any ammo?" He asked them as a single walker came out of the forest. Rick, Chris, Chef and Daryl exchanged glances with each other and fired their guns at the walker, proving to him their guns indeed had some ammo in them. He nodded his head to himself, watching how the deceased walker fell to the ground as Chef, Chris, Rick and Daryl amed their guns at him, "Okay. You gonna shoot me over a truck?"
"There's a lot of food on that truck. The keys, now." Rick ordered, keeping his Python aimed at him.
"I think you know I'm not a bad guy." Jesus stated.
Chris raised his brow at him, "What do you know about us?"
"I know you're Chris McLean and the guy next to you is Chef Hatchet." Jesus shifted his gaze between Chris and Chef, "I watched a few episodes of your show back when the world was normal. I have to say this kind of weird to me. I never met any celebrities before and I don't know how I should act."
"Just give me the keys." Rick repeated his order, "This is the last time I'm asking."
Jesus gave Rick the keys to the truck, having no other choice but to comply to his demands right now. Rick took the keys to him and looked at Chef. He nodded at him, letting him know to do his stuff. Chef nodded back at him and he crouched down in front of Jesus. He reached into his bag, pulling out some line and began wrapping it around Jesus's limbs as Daryl reached into his back, feeling how it became wet and sighed, realizing how most of the soda cans were crushed when Jesus shoved him against the truck.
"Dammit." He cursed, pulling out an empty crushed soda can out of his backpack as Chef had just finished tying Jesus up.
"You're gonna leave me here like this?" Jesus asked as Chef got himself into a standing position, wiping his hands on his clothes.
"The knots aren't that tight." Chef replied, "You should be able to get free... after we're long gone."
Jesus looked up at Rick and Chris, "Maybe we should talk now."
Rick shook his head, "Nah."
"You should have thought about it, before you tried to steal our truck." Chris added. He turned away from Jesus and started to make his way to the front of the truck, followed by Rick and Chef.
"Here." Daryl said, tossing one of few soda cans he had left to Jesus. The can landed between Jesus' legs as Daryl turned away from him and followed Chris, Rick and Chef, "In case you get thirsty."
"I should have know something like this would happen." Jesus smiled to himself in amusement, letting out a chuckle as Rick, Chef, Chris and Daryl got themselves into the truck, without looking back at him. Rick started up the truck and drove off along the road, leaving a tied up Jesus all alone in the middle of the road, "She did tell me my aura looked the way it did today."
Duncan narrowed his eyes at the walker in front of him. He aligned it and let out a deep breath, intending his shot to be as much precise as possible, wanting to get rid of this walker as soon as possible. He released an arrow and it hit the undead right in the middle of it's forehead, killing it immediately. The now deceased walker fell to the floor, joining the other bodies on the floor.
He lowered his bow and glanced towards where Sanders was standing right now, "Is that the last one?"
"Yeah. I took care of the rest." Sanders nodded, lowering her bloodied knife. She looked at him questioningly, "Where did they came from? The warehouse was empty when we entered it."
"I don't know." Duncan replied as he looked around himself, trying to locate where the walkers came from. He didn't had to look for long as he noticed an opened door at the end of the hallway. He pointed towards it as soon as he set his eyes on it as Sanders looked in the direction he was pointing at, "There. They must have been in the room over there when we first entered this place. They must have somehow opened the door."
"Yeah. You're probably right." Sanders nodded in agreement as she turned away from the room and turned towards the aisle neither she and Duncan checked out, yet, "Let's go check the other aisle and get out of here. There are a few other places in this town I want to check out before we will head back to Alexandria."
Duncan nodded and looked at the isle Sanders was looking at right now, "Let's go. I'll be right behind you." Sanders pushed herself into walk towards the aisle, walking past the fallen shelf, "A damn shame one of them made one shelf fall to the ground. It could have had supplies that hadn't expired, yet."
Sanders opened her mouth to reply, but her words died in her throat before any words left her mouth. Her eyes widened as she felt something grab her leg when she was about to pass the fallen shelf, almost making her collaps on the floor. She looked looked down and set her eyes on the walker that was partially trapped underneath the fallen shelf. The undead pulled itself closer to her leg, trying to sunk it's teeth into it.
"Shit!" He screamed as she immediately reached for her knife. She never got to grab her knife as an arrow flied past her and hit the walker right in the eye, killing it for good. She let out a long deep of relief, moving away from the now deceased walker as her leg was freed from it's grasp and looked at Duncan with a grateful look on her face, "Thanks."
"Don't mention it." Duncan replied as he walked over to the deceased walker and pulled the arrow it's eye, "Little bastard hid himself pretty well from us."
"Good shot, by the way." Sanders said as Duncan turned away from the deceased walker to look at her, "I have to say I'm almost jealous whenever I see how good you are with your bow as I have no idea how to use one, unlike you."
"I can show you a thing or two tommorow if you want to." Duncan offered, "I don't have anything planned for tommorow, unless something urgent will came up. I could kill some time by showing you a trick or two with a bow."
"Sure. That would be nice." Sanders nodded at his offer, blushing slightly. She pushed herself into walk short after, "Let's go check out this aisle. Hopefully we won't get interrupted this time."
Duncan nodded in agreement and followed her, "You can say that again."
Rick, Daryl, Chef and Chris stared at the road ahead of them, listening to the music Rick had turned on shorty after they left Jesus ont he road as they were driving towards Alexandria, hoping they won't come across more problems on their way there. The four of them were eating the chocolate Daryl had found in the vending machine earlier today, enjoying the sweet taste of chocolate as they relaxed for a bit, allowing themselves to take some rest after all the running they had to do to catch up to Jesus.
"Still worked out." Rick said, putting another piece of chocolate in his mouth, "Today still is the day."
"Yeah." Chris nodded, swallowing the piece of chocolate he had in his mouth right now, "Thankfully, I didn't jinx us earlier today."
Chef poined at something ahead of them as an open field appeared on their right, "Look."
Daryl looked in the direction Chef had just pointed towards, "Yeah, a barn."
"Let's check it out." Chris said.
Rick nodded and turned the truck towards the barn Chef had just pointed towards. His eyes widened a second later as he heard something climb into the roof of the truck. At first, he thought his ears were playing a trick to him, but he found himself to be wrong about this matter a few seconds later as he glanced at Chef, Chris and Daryl. Chef quickly turned off the music as Chris and Daryl looked up at the ceiling at the same time.
"Have you heard it too?" Chris asked, his eyes not leaving the ceiling.
"Yeah." Daryl nodded in confirmation as he pointed upwards, "I think that son of a bitch is on the roof."
"Hold on." Rick said, hitting the brakes hard.
The truck came to a sudden rough stop and Jesus fell off the roof and landed on the ground in front of the truck. He got himself back on his feet, allowing Rick, Chef, Chris and Daryl to take a good look at him. He stared at them without saying a word as Daryl, Rick, Chef and Chris stared at him silently, resulting in an awkward silenc. Jesus turned away from all of them a few seconds later, beginning to run away from them. Rick quickly started up the truck, beginning to chase Jesus.
"Mother..." Daryl glared angrily at Jesus as he opened the door to the truck and climbed out of the vehicle, beginning to chase him on foot.
"This maggot." Chef growled in frustation as he followed Daryl out of the truck.
"Daryl! Chef!" Rick called out after them as neither Daryl and Chef paid attention to him because they were already out of the truck at this point.
Chris quickly closed the door to the truck to make sure Jesus won't try to get inside as he and Rick were getting closer to him. His eyes remained on Jesus, making sure he won't get away from as he signalled Rick to turn to the right, hoping they will cut off Jesus and give Chef and Daryl enough time to catch him. Rick nodded at him and turned to the right as Jesus instantly saw them make this move.
He waited for them to get close to him and quickly changed the direction, beginning to run on the left side instead of the right one. The truck drove into the opposite side than Jesus as Rick didn't have enough time to react to it. Rick slammed his hand against the counter in frustation as Daryl and Chef quickly followed him. Jesus kept his eyes on Chef and Daryl, playing a game of cat and mouse with them as Daryl and Chef tried to approach him from both sides.
Rick quickly put in reverse, beginning to drive towards Jesus, Daryl and Chef as Chris looked out of the window of the vehicle, intending to inform Rick whenever he will get close to running anyone over. Jesus saw the truck headed towards him and quickly sprinted forward, running past the truck as Rick and Chris exchanged frustated look with each other, knowing Jesus had once again gotten away from them.
Daryl and Chef quickly ran towards Jesus and were certain they will manage to catch him this time, but unfortunely the truth turned out to be completely different as Jesus slipped past them. Chris and Rick exchanged glances with each other, knowing they won't do much to help if they will stay in the truck. The two of them got themselves out of their truck, with their guns in ready. It was when a new problem appeared as they saw a couple of walkers heading towards them. They must have been allerted by all the noise they were making righ tnow.
"We came to a conclusion, asshole!" Daryl shouted to Jesus, following Jesus throughout the field as he and Chef were close to catching up to him.
"We got him!" Chef shouted as Rick and Chris nodded at them.
Rick and Chris quickly moved towards the walkers and pulled out their knives, deciding to take them out quietly as Jesus quickly made his way to the truck and opened the door. He quickly climbed into the driver's seat. Daryl followed him into the vehicle, before he could drive away and the two of them began struggling as the two sides were trying to get themselves out of the truck. Chef sighed in irritation as he watched everything from behind Daryl, knowing he will do more harm than good if he will try to help Daryl right now.
His eyes widened after seeing how Daryl pulled out Jesus' legs from the truck, realizing it was his opportunity to help. He quickly ran over to them and grabbed Jesus' right leg, beginning to pull him out of the truck as Daryl grabbed Jesus' left leg, beginning to do the same. Neither of them could notice a walker approaching them from behind as they were too focused on getting Jesus out of the truck.
Jesus quickly noticed the walker behind them, though. He grabbed a pistol he saw laying nearby and aimed it at the walker. Daryl and Chef let go off them, thinking he was aiming the gun at them as Jesus quickly informed them he wasn't aiming it at them. Chef and Daryl quickly went down, allowing Jesus to shot as Jesus pulled the trigger and fired it at the walker, killing it. Daryl and Chef looked at him again as soon as the lifeless walker hit the ground.
"Thanks." Daryl thanked him for taking care of the walker and punched him in the face right after, knocking him out, "That's my gun!"
"Let's get him out of there." Chef said as Daryl nodded in agreement. They started to take Jesus out of the vehicle, accidentally knocking the manual into neutral in the process. The truck quickly started driving backwards, right into the nearby lake as Daryl and Chef quickly pulled Jesus out of the truck. The wasted no time and quickly jumped out of the truck, knowing there was no time to save the truck from reaching the truck at this point.
They quickly got themselves back on their feet and looked at the truck, seeing how it just drove into the lake as Rick and Chris quickly made their way to them after taking care of every walker in the area. The four of them were forced to watch how the truck with all those supplies sunk in the lake and vanished completely from their view.
"I really jinxed us..." Chris sighed with a look of regret on his face, breaking the silence between them. Chef put his hand on his shoulder, trying to make him feel better.
"What do we do now?" Rick asked, his eyes not leaving the lake.
"Let's go check them cars, get the hell out of here." Daryl replied.
Rick pointed at Jesus' unconscious body, "What about the guy?"
Daryl raised his brow, "What about him?"
"Well, he helped you and Chef." Rick pointed out.
Daryl sighed, "Fine."
"Let's put him up a tree." Chef said as he walked over to Jesus' unconscious body and grabbed him by his shoulders, beginning to drag him towards his group.
Michonne walked closely behind Spencer as she continued to follow him through the forest. She had no idea for how long they were waiting at this point. All she was certain about right now was the fact they were definitely walking for long. She still didn't know why Spencer went into the forest all alone with a shovel on his face as neither of them uttered a word to each other ever since she joined him.
"Why are you still here?" She asked him, breaking the silence between them as Spencer stayed silent, "I liked your mom a lot. I really don't want you to die. So, come on. Let's go home."
"My family's dead. That's not home. It's just where I live." Spencer replied, pushing himself out of his silent state.
"It's more than that." Michonne stated.
Spencer stopped in his tracks and looked over his shoulder at her, "Hey, enough. I'm fine. You've got a life back there, and maybe I will, too, but before I can even think about that, I need to take care of something. I have to try."
"So let me help you." Michonne offered.
Spencer shook his head, "You can't."
It was when the two of them heard something move not too far from them. They pulled out their weapons, readying themselves to take out the walkers as they looked in the direction of the source of all this noise and saw Carl moving between the trees, much to their suprise. Carl didn't seem to notice them as he continued to run forward himself through the forest for some reason.
"Carl." She asked herself. Her attention quickly went away from Carl as she set her eyes on the walker Carl was running away. Carl ran out of her and Spencer's view as her eyes widened in suprise, realizing this walker was Deanna. She slowly turned to look at Spencer, realizing why Spencer went into the forest as Spencer at the undead version of his mom.
"I thought I saw her that night." Spencer said, his eyes not leaving walker Deanna as he pulled out his knife, "I thought I did. I did."
The walker Deanna snarled as she quickly forgot about Carl and started to walk towards Spencer and Michonne. Spencer took a few steps towards walker Deanna as Michoone placed her katana on the ground, intending to help him. Spencer grabbed walker Deanna by her shirt, keeping her in one place as Michonne wrapped her arms around walker Deanna, ensuring she will not break free.
Spencer grabbed walker Deanna by the back of her head as Deanna's lifeless eyes looked up at him. He felt a wave of regret go through his body as he stared at his undead walker, remembering how their last interaction looked like. He teared up, trying to force himself to end his mother's suffering, but he couldn't. He let out a deep breath and gently placed his knife in the back of Deanna's head, killing her, as he finally forced himself to end her suffering.
Deanna's lifeless body slowly landed in his arms as he looked up at Michonne with a tearful look on his face, "So that's why I was out here. She left me a note. She said I still knew my way." He let out a dry chuckle, thinking about each member of his family he had recently lost, "I never knew my way."
"You loved your family?" Michonne asked.
Spencer nodded in confirmation, "Yeah."
"Then you know your way. It's home." Michonne explained.
"They're gone." Spencer pointed out, referring to the deceased member of his family.
"I've been out here chasing you all over the woods. You've still got family, and you've still got a home." Michonne pointed out in return, referring to all the people living in Alexandria.
Spencer nodded and looked down at Deanna's lifeless body in his arms, letting out a sigh, "Let's burry her."
Rick kept his eyes on the road, driving through the forested road towards Alexandria in a car he and his group found shorty after they lost their supply filled truck. Chris was sitting next to him, resting his head on his hand as Chef and Daryl were sitting behind them, keeping an eye on an unconscious Jesus who was placed between them as a way of making sure he won't try to get away once he will regain his consciousness.
Rick looked away from the road for a second, setting his eyes on Daryl, Chef and Jesus and turned the car to the right a bit, pushing Jesus' unconscious body towards Daryl. Jesus's head landed on Daryl's shoulder, making it look like he was leaning on him in his sleep as Daryl immediately pushed Jesus away from him. Rick and Chris grinned at the scene, feeling their mood lightening up a bit.
"He took a pretty hard hit." Rick stated, setting his eyes on the road again.
"Yeah." Chris nodded in agreement, "Bridgette and Denise needs to look him over."
"I and Daryl will bring him to them as soon as we will make it back to Alexandria." Chef said.
Daryl nodded, "Yeah.
"You wouldn't have gone through with it." Rick said to Daryl, "You wouldn't have left him."
"I would've, right up in a tree. I would have." Daryl replied as Chris looked at Rick and nodded at him. Rick nodded back and turned the car to the left a bit, this time pushing Jesus towards Chef and making his head land on his shoulder.
"Can you stop that?" Chef asked with an annoyed look on his face as he pushed Jesus away from him. Jesus' landed close to Daryl who wasted no time and quickly pushed him away from him, "It's not funny."
"It is funny." Chris smirked, "To us."
The sun was already down from the top of the sky and was replaced with a moon when Daryl, Rick, Chef and Chris made it back to Alexandria. The main gate was opened by whoever was staying on guard right now as Rick drove into Alexandria. He stopped the car for a second, allowing Chris to leave the vehicle. Chris opened the door and got himself out the car. He closed the door and started making his way towards Bridgette and Geoff's house as Rick started up the car again, beginning to drive towards the clinic.
"You know, I was thinking... back before we went out to the quarry." Daryl said, breaking the silence in the car, "The morning after Reg and Pete. You said we shouldn't be looking for people no more. You were right."
"No..." Rick shook his head, "I was wrong. You and Chef were right."
"Why did you change your mind?" Chef asked, "Is this about what happened when you and the others were leading the walkers away?"
Daryl remained silent, not giving Chef the answer he was waiting for. Chef nodded his head to himself, deciding not to push Daryl to give him answer as he could see that Daryl didn't want to talk about this matter. Rick parked his car a few seconds later, having just reached the clinic. The three of them got themselves out of the car and Daryl and Chef grabbed Jesus, the former holding him by his feet and the latter holding him by his shoulders.
Rick walked over to the front door to the clinic and knocked on it a few times. The door was opened a few seconds later and Denise and Tara appeared in his view, "Sorry to wake you up."
Denise pointed at Jesus, "Who is this?"
"Come on, man, he's heavy." Daryl replied, "Oh, that thing, uh, didn't work out. It's this asshole's fault. Sorry."
Denise stepped aside, gesturing for them to come in, "Lay him on the bed."
"Before you ask." Rick started to say as he walked into the clinic, followed by Chef and Daryl. Chef and Daryl began carrying Jesus towards the nearest free bed, "Bridgette should be here in a few moments. Chris went to get her."
"All right." Denise nodded as Chef and Daryl laid Jesus down on the bed. She walked over to them, setting her eyes on Jesus, "Let me take a look at him."
Duncan and Sanders walked together through the darkened streets of Alexandria, making their way towards their houses. They unfortunely didn't make their way back to Alexandria before the sun went down like the originally planned. They had returned to their home several minutes ago and made sure to put all the supplies they found during their supply run in the pantry.
Olivia was really glad when she saw the amount of food they brought from their supply run, really appreciating their made their problem of the food running out slightly smaller. Duncan and Sanders reassured her it was no problem and informed her they will go back to the town they checked today in search for more supplies as they didn't check all of the places they were interested in checking out.
The two of them stopped in their tracks once they reached the house where Duncan was living with Carol and Daryl. Duncan looked at his house, seeing the lights were turned off. He hummed to himself as the view of house made him remind himself that Daryl was on a supply run today as well, beginning to wonder if the Dixon had any luck today.
He shifted his gaze away from his house, making a mental note to ask Daryl about his supply run tommorow and shifted gaze back to Sanders, "Alright. I'll should get going. I feel like I could use a good night of sleep today."
"Yeah." Sanders agreed with him, rubbing the back of her head, "I feel like we deserve a good night of rest today. Today was quite a day to say the least."
"Yeah." Duncan nodded in agreement, "You ended up having a pretty close call back in the warehouse. Good thing we were on the other part of the warehouse when those things knocked down the shelf otherwise things would get even more ugly."
"Yeah. Thanks for saving my butt back there again." Sanders replied, "So. What's the plan for tommorow? Will you still give me those bow lessons?"
"Yeah. Nothing has changed about this." Duncan answered, "Unless something will important came up, then we will postpone it to some other day."
"Alright." Sanders nodded, "I just hope I won't completely suck at it."
"Don't worry about it." Duncan reassured, "Do you think I immediately knew how to use a bow so well? No. You'd be pretty suprised by how much I sucked at it when I tried it out for the first time."
Sanders smiled, "Alright. Consider me less worried."
Duncan smiled back, "You'll see. I will turn you in an expert in terms of using a bow in no time."
"If you say so, teacher." Sanders responded, "Just be honest with me during our lesson tommorow, alright? I wouldn't want to find myself in a situation you will be danger and I will think I'm good enough at using a bow, only realize I am when I will try to save you with it. I already lost many people I cared about during all of this. You dying would be bad for me if you died during one of our supply runs."
"What? I mean to you that much?" Duncan teased, letting out a yawn.
"Shut up." Sanders replied, blushing at his teasing.
Duncan and Sanders stayed silent for the next several seconds as they remained where they stood instead of parting ways and going their own separated ways. They silently stared into each other eyes for those several seconds, admiring how they looked like at this very moment and before either of them knew it, their lips were pressed against each other...
Rick let out a deep tired breath as he laid down on the couch in the living room, feeling tired because of everything what happened today. He didn't have to watch over Jesus as Chef and Daryl volunteered to keep an eye on him for the night. Chris should be in his and Chef's house right now, taking some well deserved rest as well. He wanted to volunteer as well, but Daryl and Chef reassured him the two of them got this, resulting in Chris going to get some sleep in his and Chef's house instead.
Michonne walked over to him and nudged him with her leg, "Move."
Rick looked up at her and sat up on the couch, giving her enough space, "Hey."
Michonne sat down next to him, "It's good to be home."
"Yeah." Rick nodded in agreement, taking off his shoes,"You're telling me."
"Where's the rest?" Michonne asked, referring to Daryl, Chef and Chris.
"Chris should be in his house right now and Daryl and Chef are watching over a guy till the morning when someone else will take over." Rick explained.
Michonne looked at him curiously, "You found a guy?"
Rick shook his head, letting out a sigh, "Crazy day."
"You wanna talk about it?" Michonne asked.
"No." Rick shook his head, "Not right now. I just want to turn my brain off for a minute. You wanna tell me about your day?"
"No." Michonne shook her head, "Same thing."
Rick raised his brow, "What, you found a guy?"
"Not a guy." Michonne explained.
Rick nodded in understanding, seeing Michonne didn't want to talk about it. He looked ahead of himself and reached into his pocket. He pulled something out a few seconds later as Michonne looked at him with curiosity evident on her face. Rick titled his head to look at her again as he held out the present he had prepared for her for her to see. It was a small pack of mints for her to see.
"Got you something." He told her, holding the mints out to her.
Michonne laughed, taking the mints from him, "Is this instead of the toothpaste?"
"Mm-hmm." Rick nodded in confirmation, "Well, I do have a crate of toothpaste for you. It's currently at the bottom of a lake."
Michonne looked slightly suprised by this information, "Oh, so you had a day."
"Yeah..." Rick laughed, "All on account of your dental hygiene." He put his hand on top of hers and patted it a few times, "Have your mints."
Rick and Michonne looked down at their hands and realized they were holding each other's hands right now. Neither of them pulled away. Rick tightened his grip around Michonne's hand and Michonne slowly turned head to look at him. They silently stared at each other for a few seconds. Rick slowly started leaning in towards Michonne as Michonne returned the gesture and started leaning in as well.
It wasn't long before their lips met. The kiss quickly turned into a make out session as Michonne pulled Rick closer to her. They didn't say many words to each other after that as they deepened their kiss and then clothes were coming off, and they were in the bed, together, they were with someone they deeply cared about, and for a little bit, they managed to forget about what had become of the world around them during all those months.
Perharps something good came out of this day in the end...
Rick and Michonne were laying next to each other on the bed in Rick's room, the covers covering their naked bodies. Michonne was snuggled up to Rick and rested her head on his chest. The silence in the room was broken a few moments later as someone opened the door to the room. Neither of them heard it, though as they were too deep in their sleep to hear it. The intruder took a few steps forward, stopping in front of Rick's bed.
"Rick." A quiet male voice of the intruder called out for them. He repeated himself a few seconds later, this time making sure to be more louder as he wanted to wake them up as soon as possible, "Rick. Wake up."
Rick and Michonne got up from the bed as soon as they heard this voice, having been awoken by this voice calling out for them. They set their eyes on the intruder and saw Jesus standing in front of them. Rick quickly grabbed his Python and aimed it at him as Michonne quickly grabbed her katana and pointed it at him. Jesus stared at them with a calm look on his face, not paying attention to the fact they were naked and to the fact they were pointing their weapons at him.
"We should talk." Jesus revealed his intentions to them, lowering his hands.
Watched Puss in Boots The Last Wish. What can I say about it? I absolutely loved it. I wasn't excepting it to be this good when the first trailer came out. Everything about this movie was just so good. The plot. The animation. The characters. All of it was just so good. Death was a fantastic villain. He definitely became one of my favourite Dreamworks villains alongside Tai Lung, Lord Shen and the Fairy Godmother. I tensed up whenever his whistle sounded on the screen. Jack Horner was a great villain as well. The fact he was so evil just because he knew he could made him just so entertaining as a villain.
Hope it wasn't that bad. See you in another chapter.
