Ok, some might dislike how I wrote Sakura in this chapter, but she will eventually be redeemed. She will become more important later on in the text. Also, if anyone who read Shockwaves is reading this, I will be taking your advice and Naruto will be referred to as Naruto.
"It is time for the final test!" yelled the Hokage. Everyone braced themselves for the test, hoping it wouldn't be too hard. "The final test is the ninjutsu portion!" Everyone gave a sigh of relief except Sakura who fell down. She didn't know any ninjutsu except the basic academy 3. "You are all expected to know at least, 1 jutsu besides the basic academy 3."
Sakura quickly got back up to complain, "That's not fair! that was never mentioned and not all of us have a clan to teach us!"
Before the Hokage could say anything, Naruto stepped up, "We're trying to become shinobi. It is kind of expected that we train on our own and learn techniques. Besides, I don't have a clan and I know plenty of jutsu; can I demonstrate?" Hiruzen just gave a small nod before taking a step back. Naruto went and faced in a direction away from anyone; the people who were paying attention and could see would notice movement in his throat. Just when people were starting to get impatient, a small white orb was spat out of Naruto's mouth. The orb travelled a decent distance before exploding. Nobody expected such a violent reaction from what looked to be a small harmless white orb. "See, I can perform jutsu and I'm not part of a clan."
Sakura just hung her head as she accepted her failure. After, Naruto Kiba went, he went and performed the gatsuga with Akamaru and barreled through an earth wall they were provided as a target. Choji used his expansion jutsu and rolled down his earth wall. Sasuke just went and shot a fire ball. Hinata just performed her 16 palms. Ino used her mind transfer jutsu on a clone. Shino used his bugs to form a dome that would slowly enclose on itself. Shikamaru went last and used his shadow possession to trap a clone.
"Well, done all of you who passed. We have stockpiled lots of data on all of you to give recommendations on what type of shinobi you would be best at. Please look at these folders with the data and recommendations," the Hokage said as he passed out folders. Sakura just stood their hanging her head until she was given a folder. She looked up with a questioning look. "We made a folder for everyone; you may not have passed but you still made it to the end so take this folder when you are choosing what course you want to take." Sakura just stared before gaining a look of determination and nodding. "Now, you have until tomorrow to submit your choice. If you don't, we will just go with what was recommended. Go to the academy next week in order to get your team."
Everyone nodded and left to make their choices.
Naruto was looking at his folder. It had all of his abilities except his full form and recommended him to take up assassination. That was what he was planning on anyways; his goal remained the same, he would be the number 1 assassin. He left no room to argue and refused to take up anything else. He wouldn't take the day to decide and just went to the Hokage tower to submit his choice. He opened the door and came in to see a smiling Hokage. Hiruzen was just sitting back in his chair as his clones were scowling at him, doing the paperwork.
"Hello old man, I'm here with my choice," said Naruto.
Hiruzen almost fell out of his chair as he heard Naruto speak. "Ah, hello Naruto. I assume you chose assassin," replied the Hokage. Naruto just gave him a short nod. Hiruzen took the papers and pulled out another paper regarding team choices. Since 8 people passed, 1 team was going to have 2 Genin instead of 3. He had to choose carefully who would be on the team and who their sensei would be. The Hokage nodded his head as he placed Naruto on a team.
Sasuke was thinking what he would be. He immediately crossed out medic or any support role since he lacked those skills. His folder recommended him to be a long range, ninjutsu specialist. His skills in genjutsu were limited beyond being able to spot and disable it and his taijutsu was pretty good, but he preferred fighting with his batons so taijutsu specialist was out. Genjutsu specialist would also be out then. He had a good strategic mind, but it wasn't good enough for him to become a strategist. If he chose a ninjutsu specialist, the effort he put into learning how to fight with batons and at close would have gone to waste.
Naruto focused as an assassin, but he could function in most roles as a shinobi. As a general assassin, he learned everything he could possibly need. Naruto was a master in long range assassination with his sniper and also knew close range assassination with knives and how to sneak into places. If he needed to cause widespread damage, he could with his explosions. If he ever got into a fight with several people, he could create tentacles. The only field Naruto wasn't good in was genjutsu.
Sasuke had only advantage, and that was that Naruto was practically incapable of using genjutsu. That left 1 role that would allow Sasuke to use all of his advantages and abilities, that was being a generalist. Sasuke got up from the tree he was sitting on and ran towards the Hokage tower.
Sasuke politely opened the door and handed in his choice to the Hokage before leaving. Hiruzen pulled out Sasuke's choice and raised his eyebrows at the choice of being a generalist. He expected him to go along with his recommended choice of being a ninjutsu specialist. The Hokage went and quickly marked down which team he planned on putting him on.
Sakura was weeping on her bed. She may have had a wave of determination before, but now, she didn't know what to do. She wasn't strong enough to be a taijutsu expert, nor did she have the large quantities of chakra ninjutsu experts had. She didn't have a clan, so she didn't have any clan jutsu and she had no idea how or where Naruto learned his technique. More importantly, she didn't like seriously harming and killing things, she couldn't bring herself to ever kill anything.
She barely heard her door open as she lifted her head to see her mom entering. Her mom, Mebuki, slowly walked over to her bed before sitting down and patting her on the back. "What's wrong honey?" asked Mebuki as Sakura began wiping away her tears.
"W-well, I failed the Genin test, and n-now I'm lookin at what I c-could try to learn in the courses, but I d-don't know," stuttered Sakura as she started regaining composure, slightly. "I want to be a shinobi, but I don't want to kill someone," Sakura said with a calmer composure.
Mebuki gave a kind smile while gently hugging Sakura. "A shinobi's job involves the act of killing, no matter what they might want. You're going to have to kill at least once. That doesn't mean it has to be easy or you are a monster. And if you don't want to harm people, become a medic."
Sakura instantly perked up at the suggestion, she wouldn't have to kill or at least not as much as others and still be helpful. She had even heard that one of the strongest shinobi in the world is a medic. After voicing a quick thanks, she ran out of the house to tell the Hokage her idea.
Sakura burst into the Hokage's office and handed in her choice before running out with. Hiruzen smiled because she was so energetic even after she failed. He pulled out what she chose and raised his eyebrows, he did not expect her to choose to become a medic. This was good since they needed more medics in the village. Perhaps he could use this to convince Tsunade to come back. He nodded as he prepared the classes that she would need to take.
Naruto and the rest of the graduates were waiting in the academy. The bell rang, and Iruka walked in with a smile on his face. He may had known that only a few people had actually passed the tests, but those who did past deserved congratulations and he was impressed with those who did.
"Good morning class, I would like to first congratulate you all in passing. You have all grown up so much since the beginning of the year and since the beginning of the academy. You've grown smarter, stronger, and overall, more skilled." Everyone in the class had a happy expression across their face as they nodded. "It has been a joy to have you all, although at times it would get a little aggravating."
"Now you are all shinobi of this village, and I want you all to be proud of it. You serve for the betterment of your village and the protection of its people. When you serve, you carry the village on your back. But you are not alone, you have friends to help you carry it. Working with other people, other shinobi, and even other creatures can help you all advance and succeed in this profession." The 8 graduates reacted differently, Choji and Shikamaru bumped fists, Hinata thought of Kurenai, Shino's bugs started buzzing. Kiba grinned at Akamaru who yipped in response, Ino thought of her family, Sasuke and Naruto both thought of each other as they knew they could rely on each other.
"You are strongest when you fight for both the protection of this village and people, and when you have the help of others. Fighting for this village, the people you hold precious, makes you stronger. Fighting out of love for your home and the people who are important to you makes you powerful. That is the Will of Fire, it is what motivates many to become strong, and is what allows them to succeed."
"This profession is not easy in the slightest, you have to make hard decisions that can impact the lives of many people. You may even have to kill someone, but it is all for the greater good and betterment of this village and its inhabitants. Wear the Konoha symbol with pride people, you've earned it." Everyone grinned at that. "Now, it is time for your teams. Team 7 will be Uchiha Sasuke and Uzumaki Naruto under Hatake Kakashi. Next team will be Team 8 Of Hyuga Hinata, Akimichi Choji, and Nara Shikamaru. Finally, we have Team 10 since Team is still in active duty, and it will be made up Inuzuka Kiba, Aburame Shino, Yamanaka Ino."
The reactions varied once again but ranged from Naruto and Sasuke both saying yes to Ino quietly sobbing on her desk. "Your Jonin sensei will come pick you up after lunch, so now, everyone is off for lunch, see you soon."
Sasuke and Naruto were both banging their heads against their desks. Their sensei was taking forever to arrive, and they were beginning to consider simply leaving for a snack or anything. That's the scene Kakashi walked in on, 2 teenagers casually smashing their skulls into tables. One of them looked like he had a duck for hair and most people would confuse the gender of the other. Kakashi smirked when he thought of how much fun he would be having with his team.
"Team 7, you're with me, up onto the roofs please." The duo stopped hitting their heads and looked up as their eyes looked renewed. They could finally stop slamming their heads against their tables. And it was time for them to meet their new sensei. They got up and went onto the roof in race.
I'm starting the next chapter of Shockwaves and I plan on getting it done and posted before the next Chapter of Weaver.
-Analysis-
You may be wondering about the white explosive orb Naruto shot out. It is very similar to his explosions that he shoots from his mouth. If you didn't know, Korosensei can create explosions by compressing his body or parts of his body into small spaces. All Naruto is doing is forming antimatter in his body, compressing it, before firing it out. The white orb is what the antimatter looks like when it is getting compressed and is about to explode. The explosions from his mouth are him detonating the antimatter in his body and focusing it out of his mouth shooting basically and explosion beam. In order to prevent injury to self, he fills his body with more antimatter as a sort of shield. By the way, sometimes there won't be an analysis and other times I'll be like adding fanfic recommendations and fanfic I think you should never read.
