The lasting effect

(Make sure to leave a review/comment, it helps a lot! I also made a small mistake, Kore is supposed to be 17, not 15.)

Kore ran, Exeo was right behind him, as he turned around to see the ranger lay lifeless, blood spilling from his torn gutters, He then saw a man standing upon a massive Steelix, with a Rhyperior and Golem beside the massive iron snake.

Suddenly, the entirety of the cavern shook, as boulders and stones dropped, encasing Kore.

"Exeo, breakthrough with a mud shot!"

The Wooper nodded, before firing the mud shot, to Kore's dismay, the attack didn't do much, as he ordered the Wooper to repeat the attack.

Stunningly, the boulders exploded, smoke filling the area, as small pebbles grazed Kore, "Eh-heh…"

"It seems there's quite a bit of commotion here, those damn recruits were much more pitiful than I thought." A condescending voice said as the smoke cleared to reveal a hunched man, with light purple hair and a small beard.

Two menacing Pokemon stood beside the peculiar man, a rather fearsome Crobat and a pained Weezing, "Tch, that damn Brock of Pewter is here…"

"Get out of my way, brat." The executive ordered, a maniacal grin spreading across his face, "Crobat, air cutter."

Kore rolled to the left, as Exeo and Poliwag did the same, "Run!"

"Sorry, Brat, but you've seen too much." The man said, grinning.

"Crobat, slash them to pieces."

Kore ran for his life, his Pokemon running beside him, "You can't escape, it's pointless!"

The large Crobat appeared in front of them, flapping its large wings menacingly.

"Poison fang!"

The Crobat lunged at Kore, as Exeo pointlessly fired a water gun at the massive bat, which was easily shrugged off, as the Crobat opened its mouth wide open…

"Stone edge!"

The Crobat hastily flew to the left, as stone pillars were hurled at the giant Bat, it hissed at the massive iron snake in front of it, bruised, and furious.

"Brat, Run!"Leader Brock shouted, as stones were hurled at the massive crobat, who easily maneuvered around them.

"Sorry, but I don't intend on letting anybody leave this place alive!"

In several flashes of brilliant scarlet light, three Koffing appeared.

"Explosion!"

The Koffing all simultaneously glowed a bright white, as their body slowly expanded, and…

In a flash of piercing white, the entire cavern shook, as explosions rippled through the air, Kore hastily rolled across the floor, engulfing Exeo and Poliwag, he quickly got up, holding both of his Pokémon.

He yelped as he had to roll to the left to dodge a boulder falling, and narrowly dodged several boulders, encasing Brock, the rocket executive, and Kore.

"What a pain!" Brock grunted, "Steelix, Bind!"

"Nidoking, Tentacruel, wreak havoc!"

In a flash of brilliant scarlet light, the two Pokémon appeared, "Alright ya beasts, crush that massive snake over there!"

"F-9, activation!"

The two Pokémon roared in pain, as their muscles and body were pulsed and radiated a dark red, eyes filled with rage, as they were fixated on the massive Steelix.

"Damn it, I can't do much, or else the entire cavern would come down…" Brock grunted, "Steelix, defend-"

An ear-piercing roar shook the caver, as boulders tumbled down, The Nidoking lunged at the Steelix, body overflowing with an unknown power, as it slammed Steelix into the ground, "Heavy slam!"

The Steelix roared, before hurling the Nidoking away with a powerful whack of its iron tail, "Hydro Pump!"

The Tentacruel fired a massive stream of jet water, as the Steelix roared in pain, as the Nidoking lunged at the iron snake again, using its powerful and enhanced muscles to slam repeatedly into the massive iron snake.

Kore was useless, as he cowered in fear in a corner, unable to do anything.

"At this rate…Brock's going to lose!"

"Steelix, counterattack with a heavy slam again!"

The Steelix roared, as it lifted its massive tail, roaring in pain as a Hydro Pump was fired at it, before slamming it down with immense force, the entire cavern quaking from the sheer force behind the attack, the Tentacruel managed to resist the shockwaves, firing another hydro pump, which crashed upon the Steelix's rough skin, as Nidoking was knocked away from the shockwave from the first heavy slam, but quickly recovered and caused chasms in the ground, as Steelix was knocked to the floor as a powerful blast came from the chasms, and struck the massive behemoth.

"Steelix-" Brock called out, but he had to shield himself from the several boulders being thrown into disarray caused by the sheer chaos.

Kore simply stared in awe, powerlessly, as fear and memories slowly crept up, the ranger's Pokemon being brutally slaughtered…

Is the same thing going to happen to Brock's Pokemon?

He flinched as the Steelix was sent crashing again by several hydro pumps, as Brock watched in fear, as both of them were powerless.

"Steelix, Come back-"

The steelix's eyes widened in pain, as it shook its head, refusing to return to the Pokeball.

"Stop!" Brock shouted, "Rhyperior and Golem will handle it!"

The Steelix roared, as it slammed the Nidoking into the cavern's walls, eyes glowing a deep red of anger, as it was sent crashing again with another Hydro Pump.

"Steelix! Listen to your trainer-" Brock shouted futilely, as he was sent tumbling by another shockwave created by Steelix, who roared in pain once again, as it swung its massive tail, this time slamming the Tentacruel into the cavern walls, before twisting its neck, and firing a massive hyper beam, engulfing the Tentacruel.

"Damn it, this is fucking horrible!" The Executive spat, "F-12 Prototype, activate!"

The Tentacruel suddenly surged with purple energy, shocks of electricity rippling away at its nerves, as its eyes hardened into a dark red, of pure rage and pain.

The Nidoking also surged with purple energy, as it was engulfed in a wave of pain, grabbing its head painstakingly, letting out a rage of pure anger and rage, eyes switching that into one of rage.

"Tear it open!"

The Tentacruel fired a massive beam of jet water, the Hydro Pump piercing through the Steelixs armor, as Nidoking attached itself to Steelix, roaring as it used all of its might to crash the Iron Snake into the caverns, shockwaves rippling through the cavern once again, the Nidoking then used all of its force to do a feat thought to be impossible…

Cleanly ripping out a piece of steel from Steelix.

Brock's eyes widened, as terror flowed through Kore, who was at a loss for words…

"What the fuck…"

Blood oozed from the ripped piece, the Steelix roaring in pain, recoiling from the pain, before slamming the Nidoking again, as the Tentacruel sent several rays of hydro pumps, Kore stared incredulously, fear running through every cell of his body, as the Steelix was ravaged, roaring in pain and causing tremors in the cavern.

Puddles of blood formed, as Kore stood to a side, in horror.

He turned to see Brock, who held two Pokeballs in time.

"Boy…"

"Is it okay if I am selfish, just this one time?" Brock said, "I value the life of my Pokemon over my duty as a gym leader, believe it or not."

His grip over the two Pokeballs tightened, as in a flash…

Brock was sent hurling several feet, and as a female figure appeared, she had scarlet hair, alongside a white uniform with a large R on it.

"It seems Petral has done a rather mediocre job of taking care of this place…" The female executive commented as Brock's Pokeballs levitated in the air.

"Good job, Gengar." The woman said, a grin of malice spreading across his face.

"The battle should end…right now."

The Steelix roared in pain, as it and the Nidoking met in one last clash, the Tentacruel also joining in, but was sent flying, blood oozing from it, by a swift heavy slam.

The Nidoking roared, pain engulfing it, as purple energy radiated from the horn Pokemon, as it was sent crashing into the caverns, before firing one last earth power, as both sides collapsed, blood oozing from the shattered armor of the Nidoking, as the Steelix laid bruised and battered, unconscious.

Brock stared at his unconscious friend, clenching his fists…

"Gengar, you may return now." The female executive said, "Arbok…"

"Ravage your prey."

The Executive held Brock's Pokeballs, smirking, as her fearsome snake materialized, focusing on Kore and Brock.

Kore gulped memories of what just happened to flash through him.

"I've been useless this entire time…"

"How fucking pathetic! I saw Brock's Steelix being brutally beaten, and yet…"

"I couldn't do a single FUCKING THING!"

Anger, rage, and disbelief flowed through him, as he started feeling light-headed.

He took a step forward, guarding Brock, the Arbok's eyes narrowing at him.

"Heh, what a brave boy, we got here." The woman said, smirking. "You know, this little sacrifice thing you are trying to play at, it won't amount much, as no matter what…"

"Both of you will die today."

Kore scowled, "We'll see about that."

After all, he saw it, an entrance caused by the hectic chaos, and only one person could go through that hole, without being crushed by that woman's Pokemon.

He is confident that Brock also saw it, as it was the only entrance in their direction amidst the shielded cavern.

"Brock is of more worth than me…"

"I have to die here."

"Not going to move or budge, eh?" The woman taunted, before frowning. "Well then, Arbok, it seems dinner has come early…"

"Kill him."

As the Arbok lunged at him, time seemed to stop.

He noticed his very own Pokemon surrounding him, distraught.

At that moment, something clicked.

"What the fuck am I doing?"

"Just…giving up?"

He could see from the corner of his eyes, Brock, bruised and battered, distraught also.

"I am such a fucking pussy, who the fuck likes Sacrifices?"

"Dying like this? No matter how much you shift it, it will always be that of one who is weak."

"I refuse…I refuse to die such a pitiful death, I refuse to just stand here and have my life end, Fucking hell, I ain't gonna run away, I will stand…"

"And fight!" Kore shouted, eyes flashing, as a newfound determination flowed through him.

His body instinctively moved, as he dodged the lunging Arbok, "Exeo, mud shot!"

"Poliwag, HYPNOSIS!"

"I would rather die fighting, you fucking uniform suckers!"

"Once I'm out of here alive, I will murder all of you, and get revenge on you, dipshits!"

Exeo fired the Mud shot, the Arbok turned, lunging at the Axolotl, but was surprised as it suddenly fell to the floor, a spiral of pink, psychic energy knocking it out.

Adrenaline flowed through Kore, as he dashed at the woman, who was still in a state of shock.

"You know, back in middle school, I was the captain of my soccer team…"

"And the best dribbler in my school!"

His legs moved at speeds he never thought he could reach, he was always faster than his peers, but at that moment…

He felt like he was beyond everybody.

"Oi Oi Oi, the fuck is wrong with this brat!?" The executive thought to herself, as she hastily reached for the detonator in her right pocket. "Why the fuck is he so fast!"

Before the woman could even react, Kore had already reached to grasp the Pokeballs in her hands, his eyes narrowed in concentration, as he saw…

A trigger, with a bright red button…

His legs accelerated even more, as he saw the woman reach for the cylinder-shaped object, but Kore was faster.

He pummeled the executive with a swift jab to the face, before taking grasp of the Pokeballs in her pockets and the ones that she had stolen from Brock, encasing the woman's Pokeballs in his right pocket, and Brock's in his left pocket.

He attempted to reach for the detonator-like object, but was suddenly sent hurling several feet with a strong kick from the woman's legs, the executive scowled as Kore quickly got back up.

He patted the dust off his pants, before taking out the Pokeballs he stole from the woman, jiggling them in the air, with a confident grin.

"Listen here, brat!" The woman shouted, holding the detonator in her hands, her scarlet hair waving in anger. "If you don't release my Pokemon, I will blow this entire cavern down to smithereens!"

Kore scowled, narrowing his eyes, as he continued to jiggle the Pokeballs, before sliding them back into their respective pockets.

"Don't think you can trick me, brat, I know where you initially placed my Pokeballs, which was in your right pocket!" She hollered, as from the corner of Kore's eyes, he could see Brock slowly reigning closer, exhausted and panting.

"It's time to initiate the plan…"

"Now, release them!" The executive shouted, "Or else I, Executive Ariana, will kill all of us!"

"You're bluffing, aren't you?" Kore pressed, and Executive Ariana had fury in her eyes, "No I am fucking not, you juvenile!"

"I will comply, just in case…"

"But if you're bluffing, then you suck at it," Kore stated, before taking the Pokeballs out, Brock's eyes widened.

"Boy-"

He grinned maniacally as in a flash of brilliant scarlet light, he dashed amidst the chaos.

Ariana's eyes widened in horror, as instead of her Pokemon, it was a massive Rhyperior, Golem, Aerodactly, and Kabutops…

Kore instantly dashed through the massive behemoths, as the Executive finally managed to recover from shock…

Kore's steps echoed across the cavern, as he swiped the detonator from the Woman's loose grasp, grinning, as he sent another swift right jab, causing the executive to stumble backward in pain.

"Y-You, fucking Brat!" The Executive shouted, "When you were jiggling the Pokeballs and flaunting them at me, you must've managed to let them switch places!"

"Bingo!" Kore said, grinning ear to ear, "Get outplayed…"

"Bitch."

Fury danced in the Executive's eyes, as she lunged at Kore…

But it was too late.

In a massive explosion, a massive Blastoise was riding upon a Gyrados, Kore's eyes widened in excitement, as he dashed behind the Executive again before slamming his elbow into the back of the woman's head, before launching another swift jab.

"I, Misty Waterflower, have arrived!" Said a bombastic voice.

"Sorry, but this place is already dealt with!" Kore said, grinning sadistically.

"I just outsmarted a grown adult, and managed to turn the tides of the situation!"

He observed the surroundings, only to frown.

Puddles of blood littered the cavern, boulders fell, and pebbles rolled, as Brock's Steekix lay motionless and dead.

Kore scowled at the sight, realizing the suffering that was caused by those bastards.

He walked over to the executive, kicking her and grabbing her by the white uniform, "Who the fuck are you, people!"

The woman grinned, "Team rocket…"

"Brat, get the hell out of there!" He heard a voice say, he hastily turned around, only to see a massive crobat.

"Won't get beaten by a brat like you."

A man rode on the Crobat, the executive from before.

"Exeo-"

Before he could command his Pokemon, who had already fired attacks at the large bat to no prevail, it was too late…

"I'll be taking that, feisty brat." A cocky voice said, as his consciousness faded, a wave of pain flowed through him, as sharp blades seemed to cut him, and his grip over the detonator fell loose…

A massive explosion could be heard, and screams rang in his fading consciousness, as he closed his eyes…

"Oi…" A soft voice said…

"Oi…" Again…

"Oi, wake up…."

"OI, WAKE UP!" The voice shouted, as Kore finally opened his eyes, exhausted and dizzy.

"Damn, you were unconscious for two days, way to make my job harder…" A voice grunted, Kore turned to see the man, he had sleazy orange hair, wore a black leather jacket, held an odd-looking device, and had a scowl fixated on his face.

"That geezer always gives me the most tedious of jobs…" The man said, sighing.

"Who…are…you?" Kore barely managed out.

"The finalist of the Silver conference…Does that ring any bells?"

"Alright, how about the semi-finalist of the Indigo conference?"

Realization finally clicked, "You're the son of the legendary Professor Oak, Gary Blue Oak!"

"Why the hell did you remember my middle name…?" The young adult grunted, "So, you might be wondering why I am here?"

Kore nodded, "But first…"

"What happened to the ranger sent there?" Kore asked memories of the man's horrid screams and the brutal murder of his Pokemon.

Gary frowned, ruffling his orange hair, "He's…Dead."

Kore nodded solemnly, he had known that "What was his name…?"

"Garrick Tray, he was an up-and-coming trainer." Gary said solemnly, "They found nothing but a ripped-off arm, and only his burnt body."

Kore gulped, such a successful trainer…

Ripped away just like that, anger and rage flowed through Kore's veins, he will get revenge on those bastards, and the absolute suffering they have caused.

"Enough of that sad shit, I want to complete my objective here and move the fuck on," Gary stated, He pulled out a paper, likely a document.

"Have you ever wondered what it's like to talk to a Pokemon? And I am not just talking about Psychic Pokemon-" Gary said in a monotone voice, before getting frustrated and throwing the document away.

"I'm not a fucking advertiser!" Gary shouted, "fuck that geezer and his dumb schemes."

"Anyways, this device over here, is what is called a PokeCommunicator," Gary stated, Kore cringed at the name.

"Can't we…come up with something better?" Kore stated, still cringing, Gary scowled.

"Mmhmm, whatcha got then, brat?" Gary said, scowling.

"You're only 19…which means you are 2 years older than me…"

"Not my fault you're 5'3." Gary spat, as Kore scowled.

"Damn it!"

"Anyways…How about Poketranslate?" Kore suggested, Gary stopped to ponder…

"Fine."

"Anyways, this Poketranslate here will allow you to communicate with your Pokemon!" Gary announced, Kore clapped lightly, his body still sore.

"Oi, stop moving your body, Crobat venom is a lot more dangerous than you may think," Gary warned, as Kore simply nodded.

"Wait, why the hell are you this calm?"

"Uhm…It was originally called the PokeCommunication…it was pretty obvious from the beginning." Kore responded as Gary sighed.

"Well, anyways, you will be our, sort of, test subject." Gary said, "according to the big, figureheads of the league, with added support from some of Brock's preaches about your skill and clear thinking, you have been chosen to test this brand spanking new device out."

"It will publicly release in three months, ish, with an incredibly high price, of course!" Gary said, grinning slightly, "You will give us weekly reports about the functionality of the device, while you will get closer bonds to your Pokemon, sounds like a great deal?"

Kore hastily accepted, even a newbie like him could tell the immense value of the Poketranslater.

"Although, Kore, was it? I take great interest in you, specifically." Gary said, "Why did you become a trainer?"

Kore narrowed his eyes at Gary, who seemed to be genuinely curious.

"Why is it you are asking me this?" Kore asked, Gary, smirked.

"Kore Everosr, the up-and-coming athlete, got two offers from two, major soccer clubs from Kalos and Galar, why is it that you chose the path of a Pokemon trainer, instead of the opportunity to become a pro athlete, hm?"

"Someone of such proficient skill like you, with the entire best dribbler of his generation shtick, and with excellent speed and agility, alongside excellent playmaking skills…"

"I wonder why you gave all of that up, for the goal of becoming a water type specialist?" Gary asked as Kore sighed.

"Because I wanted to." Kore stated, "From the very start, I valued Pokemon more than sports."

Gary mused but nodded.

"Interesting, interesting!" Gary said, "I look forward to seeing your progression when the indigo league season rolls around."

"Well, that's all, the Poketranslate has guided and detailed instructions on how to use it, here's my number, you will be sending the weekly reports to me," Gary stated, sliding a piece of paper and threw the device at Kore, who hastily caught it.

"Wait, before you leave…"

"What about Team rocket, which I think is what they called themselves."

"The two executives fled, but this attack on Mount. Moon…"

A grin slowly spread across Gary's face, "designates them as a country-level terrorist threat…"

"That needs to be exterminated."

Kore narrowed his eyes, as he clenched his fists…

"Team Rocket, I swear, I will destroy you…"
