...

When he made it to his classroom he flung the door open. His sensei was at the front of the class. It seemed Izuku had not beat him to the classroom. Damn it.

Slowly he entered the room aware of the glares he was receiving. His sensei sneered with a curl of his lips, "Midoriya you're late. You have detention after school now."

Snickers sounded as Izuku replied, "Yes, sensei."

If he had his way he wouldn't even be here but it wasn't like he could just skip. If he wanted to move to online classes he would need his mother's permission. That was about as likely as her accepting Zero Hour was real.

A part of him wanted to fight his teacher's obvious quirkist ideals. To show that having a nonphysical quirk didn't mean he was a hero was impossible. Nezu was proof that even if he did have an intelligence quirk it was possible. Even Nighteye was proof as he has Foresight.

Without looking at anyone he moved to his desk. He sat and placed his bag at his feet after pulling out a notebook. There were a few minutes of going over the usual homeroom work. Then there was a knock on the door.

When it opened he saw that it was the detective he annoyed. Oops, it seemed that it wasn't a lie that he was here for Hero Week. He ducked his head so that that the detective couldn't see his face. Doing so meant he couldn't see Tsukauchi's eyes watching him.

Keeping his head down he continued to work on his notebook. He sketched the new darkling he had seen. It had been on the rooftop that he left coffee for Eraserhead. It looked like a wolf but much larger. It was almost an inky sort of color and texture. Striking it with his iron bow staff hadn't done any damage. It absorbed the blows like a sponge. In the end, he had to run away from the darkling with it hot on his heels. Only when his quirk faded was he free. For now, all he could do was sketch it out and figure out what abilities it may have. Then he could cross-reference it with similar darklings.

So focused on his sketch he didn't notice when Tsukauchi approached. He only noticed when he whistled appreciatively, "That is very well done. Do you like drawing, Mr.?"

Izuku didn't look up as he replied, "Thank you and it's Midoriya."

"Can I ask what that is? It looks like a wolf but they have been extinct since the early 1900s."

"It's a wolf-like darkling," he mumbled in reply, "The problem is it's not solid like the others. Haven't encountered this before. Could it be a new darkling? A mix of darkling and slither? If so how am I supposed to combat this creature?"

His mumble session continued expressing his thoughts and theories. The possibility of getting steel or iron dust. Silver dust would probably work the best but it was expensive. Too expensive for it to be a realistic option.

Bakugo snarled startling Izuku out of his thoughts, "Deku shut up! Your mumbling is getting on my nerves."

Izuku flinched. However, it was the detective who turned to look at the ash blond-haired boy. There was something unreadable in his dark eyes as he glared at the other.

Tsukauchi said coolly, "That's not a very nice name to give someone. Want to explain why you call him useless?"

Bakugo glared but kept his mouth shut. He heard the man say that he was a police detective. He was far from stupid and knew that he could get in trouble for quirk discrimination.

After a few minutes Tsukauchi turned back to Izuku who was watching him cautiously. A hand was extended to him and reluctantly Izuku handed over notebook. The notebook that had all the drawing of Zero Hour.

Tsukauchi flipped through it his eyes alight with interest. He said after a moment, "Your analysis are professional level. Though I'm not sure what a darkling or slither are."

Izuku simply kept silent. He couldn't explain what they were. If he did the man would think he was insane. His quirk after all was intelligence not some kind of time quirk.

Then he handed back the notebook and returned to the front of the room. Izuku looked down at his notebook. That was the first time he had been told his analysis were skilled as a civilian. His vigilante work was praised when he wasn't being told to stop his work.

The class only listened with half an ear as Tsukauchi explained police work. How they regularly collaborated with heroes in order to bring in villains. There were snorts from a few of his classmates.

Izuku however listened and took a few notes. He never knew when he would need to strengthen his relations with the police. Still his mind trailed back to the wolf darkling.

...

Naomasa watched the green haired child from the corner of his eye. Out of all the Middle School students he seemed to be the only one who was interested. Even if it was a distracted sort of interest.

Seeing the notebook had been interesting. It was expertly written and details that were only seen in professional analysts. Nighteye and Nezu would be interested in meeting this boy. His mind was already extraordinary no matter how much the teacher tried to convince him otherwise.

That caused Naomasa to blink. Maybe he should avoid Nezu and Midoriya. Something told him that would be nothing short of a disaster. The world did not need a second Nezu.

Naomasa continued to lecture the students throughout the morning. In the afternoon he was allowed to watch them go through their usual hero week activities. Most of it was simple fitness tests but others were sparring. Supposedly a warm up for their going into high school.

Once again he had been surprised at how well Midoriya did. Many children claimed they wanted to be heroes. Few however were willingly to put in the work necessary. It wasn't just about training a quirk. One had to train their body and their mind. Both of which Midoriya seemed to excel at. Only Bakugo as he learned the boy's name was seemed to come close. Physically Bakugo was in better shape than Midoriya. His grades were even better than the greenette. What Naomasa noticed however was that there was a lack of emotional strength. Bakugo if he continued down his path would be the next Endeavour. Naomasa would keep an eye on him. The world did not need a second Endeavour.
