I do not own any ideas taken from One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, HunterXHunter, or Yu Yu Hakusho. Eiichiro Oda, Masashi Kishimoto, Tite Kubo, Akira Toriyama, and Yoshihiro Togashi are the brilliant minds behind those manga, and I'm simply using them to set the stage for my story! Chapter 18: Enigma
Lucy dashed and kicked through the air as she Moon Walked toward the Navy ship. Commodore Paxton Shaved after her, and Lee raised a barrier to block his path. Marines fired at their crew, and they dispersed to engage their opponents.
Lucy landed on the Navy ship and cut down a group of marines nearby. She conjured her Room and leaped into the air; she sliced her sword downward and split the ship in two! The two pieces of the ship sank, and marines were hurled into the sea as Lucy Moon Walked back to the dock.
The Enigma Pirates and the Marines clashed on the dock, gunfire erupting as bullets flew about. Lee crossed his fingers and conjured a barrier around his hand; he skipped forward and slammed the barrier into Commodore Paxton's gut. He stumbled back and kicked at Lee, who conjured a barrier to block the attack. Lucy landed beside them and sliced her blade through Paxton's side.
Commodore Paxton skipped away from the duo as marines fired at them, Lee shielding them with a barrier. Paxton placed his hand over his injury, and a dark orange shimmering glow emanated from his hand, and his injury disappeared; even his clothes were fixed.
Willem held a pistol in each hand and blasted them at marines as he dashed around. Duros wielded a longsword, and Ragnar had a wicked-looking great axe; the two of them shredded through the marines quickly as Willem shot down the survivors. Chihiro and Pearl leaped around together and struck down marines with precise strikes. The five of them charged through the crowd of marines as civilians ran away in a panic.
Lee dropped his barrier and charged forward with Lucy; they rushed at Commodore Paxton, and Ensign Leorio Shaved between them and sent a kick that Lee blocked with his arm. Lee and Leorio exchanged rapid blows, and Lucy conjured her Operating Room. Paxton skipped around and lunged at Lucy; she Shaved to her left and then aimed her sword at the Commodore, "Injection Shot!" She dashed forward and jabbed the point of her sword into his gut, and he reeled back, coughing blood.
Ensign Leorio lunged at Lee, and they exchanged blows; Lee conjured another barrier around his hand and slammed it into Leorio's forehead. Leorio stumbled back and fell to the ground unconscious. Commodore Paxton groaned and placed his hand over his gut, and Lucy pounced at him; she swung her sword swiftly and cleaved his arm off at the elbow. Paxton used his other arm to throw a heavy punch at her, and Lucy traded places with his detached arm; she swung her sword again and cut him in half at the waist!
The Marines were defeated, and Paxton lay in pieces on the ground. Lucy stared down at him and smiled. The Commodore spat at Lucy and missed; Chihiro kicked him on the chin in response.
"Where's dear old dad?" Lucy asked.
Paxton shook his head and barked, "Piss off, you bitch!"
Lucy smiled and said, "I'll put you back together if you're a good boy, okay?"
He glared at her and reluctantly said, "I'm not sure where he is. I know the Blue Dragon and Pink Harpy are here in Paradise."
"No matter; I'll find him soon enough," Lucy stated.
"You bunch of traitors are gonna pay for this, for everything!" Paxton shouted, and Lucy stabbed her sword into his head, killing him.
The Enigma Pirates gathered themselves together and walked further down the dock. Their submarine was at the far end of the pier, and they stepped onto the upper deck and opened the hatch; one by one, they descended inside the vessel. The hatch was sealed shut, and everyone made preparations for departure. Chihiro steered the submarine and slowly plunged into the water as they sailed due east.
Duros cooked them all dinner, and the group sat down to eat as the submarine sailed onward. They ate spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread as they sat around the main chamber of the sub.
"The Marines really don't like us, huh?" Pearl spoke suddenly.
"It's only natural; most of us abandoned the marines and became pirates," Willem said with a chuckle.
"It'll only get worse from here on out," Lucy said.
"We're on the ship of the future Pirate King." Ragnar smiled, "There will be a ton of marines and other pirates that we'll have to crush to get there."
Lucy smiled widely and said, "It'll be a dangerous journey, but we're gonna get there no matter what."
"I'm happy to be with you all instead of the Marines," Duros said between bites.
"G-1 is further along the Grand Line; we're still heading there, right?" Chihiro asked.
"That's the plan." Lucy nodded her head.
"Who are the Blue Dragon and Pink Harpy?" Pearl asked.
"Admirals Asuma and Kikyo." Lucy answered. "The third Admiral is the Green Lemur, my father."
Lucy excused herself from the others after dinner and walked to her quarters. She undressed and piled her clothes on a chair. She lay on her bed and closed her eyes, trying to sleep. It took her a while, but she finally drifted off to sleep, and echoes of the past flowed into her dreams.
Lucy was dropped off at Enies Lobby at eight years old to train with CP9. She was beaten and pushed well beyond her limits as the secret Government agents broke her and shaped her into an efficient killer. Agents beat her into shape and taught her the Six Powers. She trained on the afternoon island for three years until her father, Admiral Law, finally came to pick her up.
Her father was a stern, unloving man who only cared about her strength. Admiral Law wanted a son, and Lucy was an embarrassment to him and his name. He had to endure his wife's passing in childbirth, and the insult of having a weak child pushed him over the edge.
"I want to go home, Father." She said to him as she boarded his ship.
"Your training isn't done, soldier." Admiral Law told her roughly.
"I don't wanna be a soldier or a marine!" Lucy shouted at him.
Her father smacked her hard with the back of his hand and said, "Don't show yourself above deck until we arrive."
Lucy refused to cry and stormed across the deck and below to her quarters. She spent the entire voyage in her room, training and praying for a chance to run away. They had entered the New World and arrived at a marine base. She was dropped off and sent back to training.
She would train all morning and go to school in the afternoon, improving her strength and knowledge. She read the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia and medical books as she trained herself to become a Doctor! After another three years, Lucy was enlisted into the Marines. She was offered a higher starting rank due to her upbringing but chose to start from the bottom like everybody else.
She met Lee, Chihiro, Duros, and Willem in the Marines, each of them a Seaman Recruit. They did chores together and became fast friends as the weeks passed, and they were assigned to a ship together. The World Government and the Navy commit atrocities daily; that was the biggest lesson that Lucy and her friends had learned through their training and schoolwork.
When the Captain of her ship recovered the Op-Op Fruit on some lonely island in the New World, there were orders to deliver it to Marie Jois. The Celestial Dragons wanted it, the ultimate Devil Fruit. Lucy had read about it in the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia, and as a Doctor, it would benefit her greatly. She relayed a plan to her friends, and they staged a mutiny on the ship. Lucy knew she was never meant to be a Marine, and betraying the Navy and World Government would free her from her father but create countless enemies.
The group of them managed to take control of the ship, and Lucy ate the Op-Op Fruit as they sailed off on the stolen vessel. Chihiro directed them as Willem steered the ship north through the calm belt, and they fled to the North Blue. Having cast the Navy behind, Lucy declared to her friends that she would become the King of the Pirates! They dubbed themselves the Enigma Pirates and sailed through the North Blue to start their career as lawbreakers.
As an eighteen-year-old woman pirate Captain, Lucy had to endure a lot of shit from other pirates and the Marines that hunted after them. They sailed around the North Blue, making names for themselves. The Navy realized they were responsible for what Lucy had become; they had created their own enemy. Lucy immediately wanted to go to the Grand Line but took the safe route and took her time in the North Blue, battling Marines and exploring islands.
Lee found and ate the Barrier-Barrier Fruit on Shrubbin, and they met Ragnar living in the forest there. He joined their crew almost immediately and fit in perfectly with the rest of the Enigma Pirates. They found Pearl living on the streets of Qanton City, and they welcomed her into the crew with open arms. After two years of sailing the North Blue, they decided to hit the Grand Line.
Lucy awoke suddenly and sat straight; she wiped her brow and stood up. She put on a yellow robe and tied a red sash around her waist before stepping out to the sub's main chamber. She walked to the kitchen, poured herself a glass of wine, gulped it down, and poured another.
It had taken two days for the Log Pose to store the log and point to the next island. The Misfits sailed away from Bunnyville and traveled across the sea for four days heading toward the next island. Before they ever saw an island, they saw an incredibly tall tower stretching into the sky. They sailed straight toward the tower as an island began to come into view.
"Holy shit! This is Heaven's Arena!" Shuhei shouted as they approached the island.
"Heaven's Arena?" Mugen asked.
"The tower is two hundred and thirty-seven floors, and every floor is an arena for competitive fights," Shuhei explained.
"Awesome!" Asuka and Zika exclaimed.
"Have you been here before?" Bulma asked.
Shuhei nodded and said, "Yeah, my dad sent me here when I was six. He told me not to come home until I reached the two-hundredth floor."
"And you made it all the way there?" Yasui asked with an amazed look on his face.
"Yep. I mean, I didn't leave here until I was ten, but I made it, yeah."
They dropped the anchor and docked their ship on the southwestern side of the port that surrounded the island like a ring. They left their ship at the port and walked closer to the looming tower before them.
