A Nice Refreshing Glass Of Karma
"Bea!" I could have expected many outcomes, but fracturing my arm was not one of them.
"Fuck!" I let myself exclaim as a few of the boys rushed over to help me. A dull pain spread swiftly through my elbow as I debated moving it out from beneath myself. I should have stayed still. My arm was heavy as I gradually hauled it onto my chest, before it exploded into wild agony.
"Holy- Clint, Jeff, get over here!" A mild cry escaped my lips as I looked down at my blood was trickling onto my pale blue t-shirt and staining it muddy crimson and the gleaming paleness of bone jutted out from a tear in my peach-coloured skin.
"Serves you damn right," Gally murmured, "Let's get these crates unpacked!" his distinctive drawl hung in the background as I shut my eyes against the tears welling up. It was as if the volume had been turned up by 100% - even the vague mumblings of the unimportant gladers found their way into my subconscious, among the dismay and chaos of the people crowding around me.
Zart's harsh words cut through every jumble of a conversation. "Maybe it's karma."
The breath left my lungs as I heard it. Maybe this was karma, if that even exists. Alby was telling Zart to 'shut the hell up'. My parents were worried about me. Zart fired back, 'I thought everyone agreed to forget about Nick'. I did terrible things to get here. Newt jumped into the crossfire with an aggravated 'you're making this worse'. I had picked up a gun. The gardener tried to defend himself - 'we wouldn't be having this argument if the bitch didn't bring it up'. I had aimed it at her. Minho insulted Zart with some dumbass glader slang. I had pulled the trigger. Alby launched a tirade of irritated comments at the perpetrator. I had watched her body fall to the ground. I felt my body fall into the void. I heard my gasp for air as I slipped from reality.
