As Izuku was consumed by the dark mist he could hear the screams of his classmates, but before he could help any of them, he felt the ground beneath him disappear in mere moments. As he looked down, he, through the strain as the wind rushed by, saw a lake bellow rushing ever closer, this was gonna hurt.
"W-WINGS RISE!" He shouted mere seconds before he splashed face first on the water. Even as he transformed, he could feel the air get knocked out of him as water threatened to take its place. Though panicked, Izuku acted quickly and detached the top of his cane as it changed shape slightly into a respirator that he quickly attached to himself. As he huffed and puffed, he looked around, heart racing miles a minute. The good news was that his miraculous wasn't going haywire anymore, whether that be from distance or his miraculous get readjusted he wasn't sure, bad news was that even as he breached the surface, he had no clue where he was, though with the ceiling above he figured he was in one of the USJ's zones. "Great." he sighed. However, before he could wine any further, he picked up three presences, two scared the third… hungry. 'Shit'.
Not a minute to waste, Izuku unsheathed his cane and swung behind him hitting a shark-like man square in the face, causing them to roar in pain as they drifted back. Before he had a chance to question what was happening, he felt something long wrap around his body, yanking him back to the surface. "Ahh!" he wailed as he breached the surface and was pulled up on a large boat, his butterflies following quickly behind him.
Looking up he saw two of his classmates, one in a green full-body frog-like boots and large goggles and gloves, with long dark green hair. The other was a very short boy in a purple one-piece suit with a purple mask, a yellow cape, and what he had to assume was, hopefully, a bowl-like piece, on the top of his head sat three large balls that Izuku knew were part of the boy's quirk.
"Asui? Mineta?" He asked groggily as he stood up and steadied himself.
"Call me Tsu" Tsu sighed in her nasally voice.
"S-Sorry," Midoriya responded awkwardly as got up, his costume soaked. He tried to spread his wings only for them to awkwardly droop as water dripped off them. "Great, I'm land locked." he sighed. He thought for a moment as he tried to make sense of the whole situation. "The two villains we heard earlier seemed to be surprised that All Might wasn't here but not that we weren't. Meaning they likely were planning on us being here with him, as hostages maybe? And if they were planning on us being here, they must have known we would be here today, but how-The Break In! They must have slipped in while we were distracted in the stamped and while the teachers were stuck dealing with the press!"
"Hey Hold On!" A whiney voice interrupted his thoughts, "You're making it sound like these losers stand a chance! But when All Might gets here you know he's gonna smash them into next week!
"But what if he can't? Think about it, why would they spend so much time planning and organizing an attack like this if they didn't think they had a legitimate way to kill him?" the ever-blunt Tsu interjected much to Mineta's horror.
C-Come on! You can't just say!" Mineta cried as his false bravado broke and worry flooded in. "He's-He's going to save us, right?" He pleaded turning to Izuku hopping for reassurance, only to find that the butterfly boy had gone back to his muttering.
'As much as I hate to admit it, Tsu's right they wouldn't have attacked if they didn't have a way to beat him. But why? To get him out of the way? To make a statement? To send a message to any heroes who try to stop them? To break people's wills by killing the Symbol of Peace?' But it didn't matter why they did it, it's their jobs as heroes in training to stand up to these sorts of villains. "Regardless of what they can do we need to work together, to protect ourselves, are classmates, and if needed, our teachers." Izuku started, breaking up the argument between Tsu and Mineta, "Right now we're the only ones who know what's happening, so like it or not this is up to us. Let's be heroes!"
With a sudden rush of determination that wasn't their own Tsu and Mineta stood ready, if a little shakily. With heavy breaths, Izuku then motioned for the others to follow him as he marched into the bow of the ship. "What are you doing?" asked Mineta who threaded behind shakily as Midoriya took his jacket off and set it on the wheel.
"From what I saw during our quirk assessments and battle trials, as cool as everyone's powers are, I don't believe anyone here could keep, who knows how many villains there are at bay." He then slammed the end of his cane into the floorboards causing his classmates to step back in surprise. "And even if they can hold their own there's no telling if anyone with a less combat-intensive quirk is with them, or if they're even in a place where they can safely use their quirk, who knows how much these villains knew when planning this attack." He responded as his butterflies circled around him, one flying out of the kaleidoscope and landing in the palm of his hand.
It can't be too much, if they had known our quirks then the fog guy would have sent me to a fire or iced-related zone, but here in the flood zone I'm in my element."
True, still I'd prefer to give us the best chance we can by giving us a strong start." Izuku responded as he clasped his other hand over the butterfly as it became engulfed in a dark purple glow "Akuminization!"
"Is that the Akuminization thing you and Melissa were talking about earlier- Kero?"
"Wait Really? Oh Oh, Do me do me!" Mineta pleaded as reached for Izuku's arm only being stopped as Tsu wrapped her tongue around him while Izuku held out a foot stopping Mineta from coming forward.
"Yeah, and no, sorry," Izuku lackadaisically replied as he uncovered the now dark purple butterfly. "Akumanization heightens the feelings the empowered possess at that moment. It makes the affected fall into an unstoppable rage and makes those with a desire to protect into unstoppable champions for good. Right now all I sense in you is fear and desperation, meaning if I made you into a champion you may just focus on saving yourself by all means necessary, which is a chance we can't risk right now. Besides with Asui's quirk and my wings, when they dry off, we should be safe enough with our current position, can't say the same about the rest of our class though.
There was a slight pause in the conversation as Izuku felt a sudden rise in annoyance, he then turned to the frog girl who had a less than pleased glare pointed at him. He was confused for a moment until it hit him as his face turned scarlet, "Tsu! Tsu, I meant Tsu… hehe"
"Kero, so who will you pick then?" Tsu asked as she relaxed.
"Hum, not sure, I'll have to do a quick scan of the USJ, hopefully, someone is in the right headspace for this," Izuku responded before turning his attention to the butterfly in his hand as it began to ascend. "Fly away now my little Akuma and make me a Champion!" The Akuma fazed through the sunroof and to the center of the USJ where it flew in circles unnoticed by the villains below.
Back on the boat, Izuku grasped his cane tightly as he closed his eyes fully concentrating on the emotions he sensed through the Akuma. "Hm let's see, what do we have to work with." Though it was hard to sort through all the greed, anger, and bloodlust Izuku was fairly certain he could pinpoint most of his classmates, and luckily most of them seemed to be grouped up with other classmates, with the largest group still being at the entrance with who he assumed to be 13. 'That's a relief' He mentally sighed. As he felt around, he sensed a mixture of anger and disgust surrounded by hordes of shock and fear, 'Todoroki must have used his ice to blitz the unsuspecting villains' Izuku figured. In a more elevated area, he could sense three groups of worry and frustration, and slight annoyance with one of the readings feeling a certain degree of frustrating uselessness that had Izuku tempted. However, he decided otherwise when the latter suddenly gained an increase in confidence as a horde of villain signatures began to experience an increase in pain. Not too long after almost all those nearby villain readings disappeared, likely knocked out, why the confident reading became daze, 'Kaminari'. Surprisingly while one of the other student signatures turned to a subdued prideful joy the other became… embraced… along with some other feelings Izuku shouldn't peep in on.
Luckily though it was not too long after that Izuku found a great prospect, what seemed to be a lone student. As the Akuma flew closer it could better sense this possible champion "Ah, feelings of embraced frustration and self-hatred over the feeling of ineptitude, a desire to help others but fear of worsening the problem they made, how delightful" Midoriya muttered creepily as a grin crossed his face. "Perfect."
