Themyscira

Athena Trevor

Age: 14

The bright morning Sun was shining upon the beautiful blue waters of the island.

And the young Amazon was in the palace in her beautiful room standing in front of a big mirror, looking at herself. She was wearing a uniform similar to her mother, Wonder Woman.

The tank top was ruby red and gold, and her skort was sapphire blue with small silver stars along the bottom. Her boots were blue, red, and bronze, she had her silver bracelets that had leather fingerless gloves attached to them, and she was wearing a traditional Amazon tiara on her head.

The wind from the sea outside the palace was blowing into her room through her balcony doors, and her light brown wavy hair was blowing along with it.

"Well, today's the day", Athena said to her reflection. She was all set for her first day of joining Young Justice.

From a young age, Athena was trained and taught by Themyscira's greatest warriors. Including her mother, her great Aunt Antiope, and her grandmother, Queen Hippolyta. And her father, Steve Trevor trained her as well, but through learning. He taught her that having brains in battle are very important, including being smart and aware of your surroundings.

Then, her bedroom door opened. Her father, walked in to check on her. "Athena? Are you ready?"

Athena turned around and nodded her head. But her father noticed that she looked nervous as she turned back to her mirror.

"Sweetheart, you feeling okay?" he asked, as he walked up to his daughter, trying to comfort her.

"I don't know, Dad", replied Athena. "Are you and Mother really sure that I'm truly ready for Young Justice? I don't even know that I am, myself".

"I understand, honey. And I gotta be honest, I'm really nervous, too. Mostly for you, anyway. And it's completely normal for a father to feel that way for his child..."

"And a mother feels that way, as well", said Wonder Woman, as she walked in to join her family. "But the most important thing to remember is this, Athena. When a warrior new on the battlefield is feeling scared on her first day, she remembers the things that make her feel happy and what she's fighting for".

"Exactly", said Steve with a smile. "Being yourself is one of the best tools to have in a fight".

"Speaking of which..." said Wonder Woman. She took out a beautiful golden lasso, and gave it to her daughter.

Athena gasped. "You really believe I'm ready for the Lasso of Truth, Mother?"

"Me, your father, grandmother, and Aunt Antiope have discussed about this as a family", Wonder Woman replied. "And we all agree that you are ready, dear".

"And besides", said Steve. "What is a daughter of Wonder Woman without a lasso? Yee-hah!"

They all laughed!

Athena was feeling better after hearing her parent's wise words and encouragement.

And as she took the golden lasso, she said, "Mother, Dad? Today, I'm Athena Trevor of Themyscira.

"But tomorrow...

"I am Liberty of Young Justice!!" She made a fighting pose.

Her parents smiled.

"Liberty is a perfect codename," said Wonder Woman.

"I always thought that you were gonna go with 'Wonder Girl', or just 'Wonder' ", said Steve. "But I like 'Liberty', it's a good change".

Then, Queen Hippolyta walked in. "Diana? Your jet is ready for...

"Oh, my dear, Athena! You look magnificent! Like a true Amazon ready for battle."

"Thank you, Granny", said Athena, as she hugged her.

"Takes after this beauty," Steve said as he kissed his wife. Wonder Woman giggled.

"You were saying that my jet is ready, Mother?", asked Wonder Woman.

"Yes, Diana", replied the Queen. "And is my granddaughter ready as well?"

"Liberty is ready for anything!" Athena replied.

"That's her super hero codename", said Steve.

"I think it's perfect", said the Queen. And she gave her proud granddaughter a kiss.

And so, Athena, her parents, and Queen Hippolyta left the palace, and went outside towards the beach, where Wonder Woman's invisible jet was all fuelled up and ready for the trip to Mount Justice.

And General Antiope was waiting for them.

"Is that my great niece? Or a child of Themyscira that I never knew existed?" Antiope asked teasingly.

Athena laughed and said, "It's me, Auntie!"

"I thought that was you", replied Antiope. She chuckled and gave her great niece a big hug.

"Thanks for getting the jet ready for us," said Steve as he climbed into the pilot's seat.

"Anything for my family", said Antiope.

When Wonder Woman was about to get in the jet, she noticed that her daughter was frozen stiff, clutching her new golden lasso in her hands. And she looked scared.

"Athena? Are you alright, honey?" her mother asked.

"Are you all really sure that I'm ready to join Young Justice? What if I fail?

"You will not fail, Athena", her mother replied. "You will be just fine as long as you stay true to who you are, and what you're fighting for. And besides...

"No daughter of mine is ever a failure!"

"Agreed!", said Queen Hippolyta.

"Here-here!" Antiope cried out.

And with that, Athena felt much better, and she climbed into the invisible jet with her mother. She was proud to have a great family who was always confident, wise, and very supportive.

Then Steve started the engines, and the jet slowly rose up from the beach. And the proud family took off into the sky.

Liberty: Half-Amazon of Themyscira will be ready for anything.
