Metropolis

Jonathan Kent

Age: 10

The yellow Sun of Earth has been waking up humanity every morning since the very beginning.

And in the bright, grand city of Metropolis, it woke up a unique little boy who recently moved from a farm in Hamilton County, to a large apartment in the big city.

It was Jonathan Kent, or Jon for short.

Even though Jon loved the farm where he grew up, his parents, Lois Lane and Clark Kent, aka; Superman decided that it was time for them to be back in Metropolis, and to their old jobs at the Daily Planet news building.

Sometimes he felt a bit homesick. And Metropolis may be a noisy city, but he's slowly starting to accept it. And, its not too far from Gotham City and Central City, where his friends Damian, Nora and Henry live.

The peaceful farm is where Jon first found out about his parents' past, his Kryptonian heritage. And...

where he discovered his has superpowers!

Given to him from the Sun's radiation, just like his father.

First came his super-hearing, invulnerability, and super-strength.

Next, his heat vision, super-speed, and freeze breath.

Then, his heightened senses, telescopic and x-ray vision.

And finally. His ability to fly! The one power that Jon loved the most.

Soon after his powers emerged, and when he went on adventures and missions with his family, he became...

Superboy!

And even though he made a few mistakes while fighting crime with his father, Jon quickly learned from them.

Superman and Superboy make a great team. As Father and Son!

The young boy woke up and got out of his bunk bed. And exactly 5 minutes before his alarm clock went off.

"Ha-ha! I beat ya, clock!" said Jon as he turned off the set alarm. "There's nothing today that can keep Superboy from sleeping in. I'm so pumped up!"

Just then, his bedroom door opened. His mother, Lois Lane walked in to find her son excited and floating in mid-air close to the ceiling.

"But can breakfast keep Superboy from hitting his head on the ceiling light?" she asked teasingly.

"Alright, breakfast!", Jon shouted as he got back on the floor. And he ran towards the dining room, but not with his super-speed.

His father, Clark Kent was in the kitchen bringing the last of the blueberry pancakes he cooked for his family, especially Jon, who was already at the table with Lois.

"Too excited for Mount Justice, huh, kiddo?" Clark asked as he smiled and placed the pancakes on the table.

"Totally, Dad!" replied Jon with a big grin.

Then suddenly, Clark's smile went away for a moment. He was super hearing something.

"What is it, honey?" asked Lois.

Jon was curious too. "What are you hearing, Dad?"

Then, Clark started giggling. "At first, I thought I heard an earthquake. But now I realize that its coming from right here".

"What?" Jon asked.

"It's your stomach, Jon", replied Clark as he pointed towards him. "I can hear it rumbling".

Jon looked down. He could hear it, too. "Grrrrrr!"

He blushed as he covered his stomach with his hands.

Lois chuckled.

"I'd say that we'd better start breakfast now before that rumbling does start an earthquake. Superman's homemade blueberry pancakes will save the day!", said Clark as he sat down at the table.

"Dad!" said Jon laughing.

And so, the Kent family began eating their breakfast. The pancake recipe was made by Clark's mother, Martha in Smallville, Kansas. They were delicious every time she cooked them, and she would always add different kinds of fruit to go with them. Clark's favorite was blueberries. Her's was apples. And her husband, Jonathan's was strawberries.

Clark loved his life on a farm just as much as his son did in Hamilton County.

Once the family was done, Clark heard his Justice League communicator going off.

It was time!

Suddenly. Jon zoomed out of the dining room at top speed, straight to his room. And he came back in his Superboy outfit.

He was wearing his blue zipper jacket with a bright red cape attached to it, both bearing the famous S. His Kryptonian family crest of the House of El, and the symbol of 'Hope'.

He wore blue jeans with a couple of small rips on the left, and a big hole on the right, where Superboy's knee was showing. And he had on his bright red sneakers.

"I'm all set, Dad. Let's fly!" said Jon. He just couldn't wait to see his friends, and join the team, Young Justice.

For quite a while, Jon has been taught and trained by his father about what it means to be part of a team with just more than one person. And his mother taught him that being half-human and half-kryptonian is what makes him unique. Having the best of both worlds within him.

And that no matter how difficult things get in a fight, having hope and never losing it will get through anything.

It always worked for Superman, and now it's Superboy's turn.

"Not so fast, Boy of Steel", said Lois. "Go brush your hair and teeth, and give your face a good wash, first. Cleanliness is important, even for super heroes, big or small. Its all about making a good, first impression."

"Your mom's right, Son", said Clark. "We understand that you're excited, but I'm not even in my suit yet".

"Oh. Right", said Superboy. So he went to the bathroom to brush his hair and teeth, and wash his face. While Clark took off his glasses and wedding ring, he grabbed his blue and red suit, and became...

Superman!

And when Superboy was done in the bathroom, Superman went in next. And when he was done, they were ready to fly.

But before father and son took off through the skylights of their apartment, Lois handed her young son his lunchbag for his first day at Mount Justice.

"Thanks, Mom", said Superboy as he gave her a hug good-bye.

"Love you, sweetheart", Lois replied as she hugged back and gave him a kiss on the head. "Have fun".

"I know I will. Love you, too!"

When Superboy flew through the skylights, Superman grabbed his beloved wife in his arms and gave her a passionate kiss.

"I'll let you how everything goes", he said.

"Don't you always, Smallville?", replied Lois with a smile.

Then Superman flew through the skylights to meet up with Superboy.

Up, up, and away!

Straight to Mount Justice. Both father and son love flying together, and nothing could be more than that.

Superboy: The Boy of Steel will never lose hope when things turn for the worst.
