"Beck?" Jade calls out into the penthouse as she walks through the door "Are you home? I need to talk to you!"
Hearing Jade's familiar voice, Georgia comes running from wherever she had been, greeting her mother at the door by jumping up on her legs and barking excitedly.
"Hey Georgia!" Jade grins, kneeling down to be more level with the dog "How was your time with Dad, huh? What did you two get up to?"
The dog smothers Jade's face in kisses, which Jade happily allows. She barely even notices Beck as he enters the main part of the house.
"Good, you're home!" He's clearly excited "I have big news!"
"So do I!" Jade tells him, standing up "But mine is like, really big. Can I go first? Please?"
"Sure." Beck smiles, taking her hands in his "Go for it."
"I booked a movie!" She grins "Like a legit, big-budget, Hollywood movie!"
Her first movie role ever, and it's a big part. She's co-starring with another actor, but the plot line focuses on both of them. Her name and her face will be on the poster, she'll get to do press. It's all very exciting.
"That's fantastic!" Beck exclaims, leaning forward and kissing Jade on the lips quickly "You kind of stole my thunder though because I just got off of the phone with my agent and...I booked a movie too!"
"Congratulations, babe!" Jade is almost giddy with excitement "When does yours start filming?"
Jade's movie won't start filming until the end of November. She'll have to miss an episode of Beyond the Innocent to make it work, but otherwise most of the filming will take place over her holiday break from the show. Her agent had worked it out with the network, a small price to pay for the publicity that her being in the movie will likely bring the show. She'll have to be in Los Angeles for the holidays, and while she doesn't like the idea of having to be away from Beck...she's hoping she'll be able to convince him to fly out to spend Christmas and New Year's with her.
"November." Beck tells her "I'm going to have to spend most of my break from Med filming it in LA. What about you?"
"The same, actually..." Jade laughs "And here I was worried that we might not get to spend the holidays together, but it sounds like we're both going to be in LA at the same time. That's pretty convenient."
"It definitely is." Beck laughs "Jade, this part is so cool. I get to play a spy sent on this really dangerous overseas mission to stop a nuclear attack, only to show up on the first day to find out that the partner I've been assigned is my wife and we hadn't been allowed to tell each other anything because the mission is that top secret. I get to showcase my serious acting with the drama and action aspect of it, but the romantic comedy aspect of it will let me showcase my comedic side. It's going to be such a great experience, I can already tell. Probably won't win any awards, but it'll put me on the map in the movie industry."
Jade can hardly believe her ears as her husband is explaining everything to her. Yes, the movie sounds like a great opportunity for him, but it also sounds a bit familiar...
"Who's playing your wife?" She asks "Have they told you?"
"No, they were calling to offer her the part first and then they were going to fill me in later." Beck explains "Craig said he thought it was a TV actress, but I dunno."
"Is the movie called 'Overseas Affair'?" Jade asks him
"Yeah, actually..." Beck is a bit confused "How did you..."
"In the new movie I'm going to be in, I'm going to play a spy sent on a dangerous overseas mission to stop a nuclear attack, only to show up on the first day to find out that the partner I've been assigned is my husband and we hadn't been allowed to tell each other anything because the mission is that top secret."
"Did we just get cast in the same movie?"
"I think we did." Jade grins "How cool is that?"
"Holy shit..." Beck laughs as he wraps her up in a hug "This is amazing!"
Major movie roles for both of them? In the same film? Not only will this mean great things for their careers, but it will be so special to get to experience it together.
"I can't believe our agents didn't tell us that they were sending us to audition for the same movie." Jade laughs "Unless they didn't tell us on purpose."
"They might've." Beck shrugs "I also don't think they communicate that well though. I still think we should consider switching over to have the same representation."
"That's a conversation for another day." Jade tells him "We're going to be in the same movie! With a major director! This is huge, babe."
"I think it's cause for a celebration." Beck smiles, pulling his phone out of his pocket "I'm going to make us dinner reservations for tonight."
"I'm going to call my dad." Jade nods, taking her own phone out "And then Cat. They'll both flip."
When the press release goes out that Beck Oliver and Jade West Oliver are going to be co-starring in a movie together, the buzz surrounding said movie amplifies by an extreme amount. Both of their shows are immensely popular and have fantastic fall ratings, and while Beck is the bigger name in the entertainment industry...it's no secret that the world is a bit obsessed with their relationship. Of course they're asked to comment and they give the expected answer, they're thankful for the opportunity and thrilled to have the chance to work together.
Having been told about their parts in mid-August, there's still a few months of individual work for them both...and it passes quite slowly. With Jade's character having a bigger part in the show's second season, her hours are longer and more frequent...just like Beck's had been from the beginning. They don't see each other very often, usually only for a few minutes in the morning and then about an hour or so at night if they're lucky, and it's torturing them both. They both long for the holiday season, when they'll get to be on set together every day. Finally, Thanksgiving passes and the end of November nears, and Beck and Jade are off to the City of Angels...with Georgia in tow, of course.
Like Beck's previous movie experience in Los Angeles the studio offers to put them up in a hotel, but Beck and Jade decline. Again, they opt to stay with his parents. Beck wants the quality time they might not otherwise get with his family, and there would be more space. Not to mention that his parent's house has a huge backyard, perfect for Georgia to romp around and play in.
Unlike the last movie he filmed though, Beck and Jade stay inside the house in his parents' guest room rather than out in the RV. Well, originally the bedroom had been Beck's, but it was quickly converted to be able to host out-of-town family when the RV was purchased for him. Regardless, the couple feels that it's safer and more private to be staying in the house. At least there they know they'll be out of view of any nosy paparazzi who try to follow them home from set.
There are more paparazzi in LA than there are in New York, which is hard to believe at first. They stake out the street Beck's parents live on, follow them to and from set trying to get pictures. Beck wants to take Jade around LA and show her where he spent most of his adolescence, the way any husband would...but he can't. Cameras are following them everywhere that they go, so most of their quality time is spent together at home.
"Oh, bringing her here with you was such a mistake." Priya coos as Georgia curls up in her lap "I'm going to force you to leave her here when you go back to New York, she's just so precious!"
"Yeah, she's pretty great." Beck chuckles "Unfortunately, we're pretty attached to her so she will be coming back to New York with us."
"That won't be for about another month or so." Jade quickly adds "You have plenty of time to get all of your puppy love in."
"Thank goodness!" Priya sighs "Oh James, look at her!"
"I see her..." James laughs "Thanks a lot, you two. As soon as you leave, she's going to be begging me for one of our own."
"Would that really be so bad?" Beck shrugs "It would give you two something to do."
"We're both still working." James points out "We have plenty to do. We don't need to be training a puppy."
"Adopt an older dog then." Beck suggests "There are plenty of them in shelters who need homes. Thousands of people pointed that out to me in the comments on my instagram post when I said we had adopted Georgia."
"Wasn't it 'adopt, don't shop', or something like that?" James smirks "I saw an article online about how you were terrible people for purchasing a purebred rather than adopting a shelter animal."
"And yet, there was almost nothing written about the fact that we covered the adoption fees of thirty dogs and cats at a shelter in the city." Jade rolls her eyes "Gotta love selective press."
"Sticks and stones, babe." Beck wraps an arm around her shoulders and presses a kiss to her temple "Sticks and stones."
"That saying is bullshit." Jade reminds him "Words can fucking hurt."
"S'why we have to ignore the idiots on the internet." He tells her "Pay 'em no mind."
While she hadn't been sure how living with her in-laws was going to go, Jade comes to enjoy James and Priya's company. There are times when Beck has to be on set longer than her or get there before her and she'll be home with the two of them without him. She expected it to be awkward, but it isn't really. They make her feel welcome and at home, almost like she's actually their daughter. Admittedly, Jade enjoys the maternal attention from Priya, having been without it for so much of her life.
On December 22nd, James and Priya depart for Canada to spend the holidays, leaving Beck and Jade in LA on their own. They had been invited to travel along, but the two opted not to as they were filming through Christmas Eve and would have to return to filming on January 2nd. By the time travel days were factored in, it just wouldn't be worth the trip. So they get the house to themselves for the holidays...and their first wedding anniversary.
"Cheers to a year." Beck grins as the two of them clink their wine glasses together in celebration "The best year of my life."
"I can't believe it's been a year..." Jade sighs as she takes a sip "We've been married for a whole year."
They sit across from each other at a private table in Wolfgang Puck's Beverly Hills restaurant. They almost weren't able to get a table, but thankfully their director had a connection and was able to pull a few strings to get them seated early in the evening.
"Like I said, the best of my life." Beck repeats "Wouldn't you agree?"
"Yeah, I would." Jade nods "Really, I'm in the middle of the best two and a half years of my life...because everything got better once I met you and it's just kept getting better since."
"Likewise." Beck smiles, reaching across the table and taking her hand "I love you, Jade. Happy Anniversary."
"Happy Anniversary, I love you too." She smirks, squeezing his hand tightly "Can you believe that this is how we get to spend our first wedding anniversary? In Los Angeles? Because we're co-starring in a major movie?"
"No, I can't." Beck admits "We're pretty lucky, aren't we?"
"I think we're more than lucky." Jade tells him "We're whatever is two steps after lucky."
"Or something like that." Beck nods with a smile, taking a sip of his own wine "You know what's also pretty crazy?"
"What?"
"I get to take the hottest woman in Hollywood home with me tonight and have anniversary sex with her in my childhood bedroom." He smirks "Because she's my wife."
"I think teenage me would also be pretty amazed at where she ended up..." Jade laughs "Although her train of thought might be a bit different."
"Probably." Beck agrees "But that's because teenage me was an absolute idiot."
"But now he's my idiot."
"Yeah..." Beck smiles "He sure is."
'Overseas Affair' premieres the following Memorial Day weekend. Both Beck and Jade are done filming their respective shows for the season, both renewed again for additional seasons by popular demand, and fly back to LA to start the press tour for the movie along with two other co-stars. They do talk shows and press junkets in LA before flying back to do more in New York and then eventually London before returning to LA for the premiere. It's an absolute whirlwind of a ten days, but they're grateful to get to be experiencing all of it together.
They each get two additional tickets to the premiere to invite guests of their choosing. Beck of course gives his to his parents, and Jade gives her's to her father and to Cat. She wouldn't be able to choose between all of her grandparents to take the second ticket, and Cat has been a wonderful friend to her from the moment she met so while the decision was hard...she made it with confidence.
Unlike the last movie premiere they attended together, Beck and Jade are the stars of the show from the minute they step foot on the red carpet together. Beck has walked other carpets since then, but Jade hasn't. She's done a few press events for the show, but they were much smaller than this. Everyone is screaming her name, trying to get her attention. She and Beck are the main event, everyone wants to interview them and take pictures of them...it's all a bit overwhelming...but also surreal. This is happening because they're in a movie and they're the stars. All of this attention and fuss is for them.
The couple looks absolutely stunning as they pose for pictures together, this time wearing clothing that had been designed especially for them that they will get to keep. Beck is dressed in a standard black suit and white dress shirt, but opted to leave the collar undone with no tie...exposing a bit of his chest beneath the shirt. Jade wears a stunning bright red evening gown, which she had worried might not suit her skin tone...but actually makes her feel quite beautiful.
"She's stunning, isn't she?" Beck says to the interviewer he had been escorted over to, looking over his shoulder as he watches Jade take solo pictures against the backdrop "I'm the luckiest man alive."
"That dress does suit her very well." The woman agrees "So tell me, Beck...what was it like getting to work with your wife on this film?"
"Honestly?" Beck sighs, taking another look at Jade "This was one of the easiest roles I've ever played. I barely had to do any acting. Sure, I'm no international super spy so that required me to bust out the acting chops, but I am madly in love with my wife...I didn't have to do any pretending there. Watching her work and seeing how effortlessly she stepped into her character and how well she portrayed her...I was just absolutely in awe of her the whole time and it made me fall even deeper in love. My name is on the poster, but Jade is the real star of this film. Seriously, I can't wait for everyone to fall in love with her as much as I already have."
"You have woman all over the world swooning with those comments, you realize that don't you?"
"I do, yeah..." Beck laughs, looking up to stare directly into the camera behind the woman interviewing him "Sorry, ladies. My heart was captured a long time ago."
"Talking about me?" Jade asks, coming up behind him and wrapping an arm around his waist
"Actually, yes." Beck laughs again "I was just telling my new friend here how working with you made me fall even more in love with you."
"Likewise." Jade smiles, kissing his cheek quickly and causing the fans behind the barricade to cheer "My husband takes his work so seriously and he taught me so much in this process. I loved getting to watch him do what he loves and felt so honored to be apart of it. Not to mention...he does make a pretty sexy super spy."
"You're an equally sexy super spy."
"Why thank you."
"Clearly you two found your perfect match in each other." The interviewer tells them "Fans all over the internet have been saying that for years now. Congratulations to you both on the new movie, I can't wait to see it. Is there anything you want to tell the people at home before we wrap this up?"
"Well..." Jade and Beck exchange a look with each other before Jade speaks "We hope everyone comes out to see the film, it's something that we're both really proud of. There's action, there's romance, there's a bit of comedy thrown in every once and a while...something for everyone."
"And any time you see our two characters staring lovingly at each other, just know that we're not acting." Beck adds with a smile "That's not two characters on a screen in those moments, that's Beck and Jade."
Those of you asking for drama...just wait. It comes and goes for Beck and Jade, just like it does in real life. This story has 38 chapters and there is still plenty left that can happen in that time. :)
