Dawn, Trip and Iris was walking to Lumiose tower while looking around lumiose city,
They were amazed at how beautiful the city was, especially Dawn and Iris. Trip decided to break the silence. "Iris do you know what type of Gym this is?" Trip asked the dragon master.
"If I remember it was an electric type gym, but I guess we won't see until we get there right Dawn?" Iris turned to look at Dawn with a smile but it turned to a frown when she noticed Dawn was upset.
'Electric type huh...pikachu.' Dawn was in thought until she felt someone grab her shoulders. She looked up to see Iris give her a concerning look, she read Iris' mind and gave her a smile. "No need to worry." the bluenette said.
"Good, now let's get, ugh!" Iris continued before she bumped into something. She turned her head to see she had run into someone. "I'm sorry are you.." she paused when she saw who the person she ran into.
"Well well well if it isn't the traitors, my day just keeps getting better." the trainer said.
Trip, Dawn and Iris were shocked by the person in front of them, Dawn decided to break the silence. "Paul is that you?" she asked.
Paul smirked at the question, "the one and only," he answered. It was definitely Paul in front of them, but more mature. He was slightly taller, had more muscle and his purple hair was in a ponytail. He wore a sleeveless blue vest with black baggy pants and blue tennis shoes. "So what are you doing here?" the purple hair trainer asked.
"That's none of your business." Trip answered. Paul squinted his eyes at Trip and it began to glow purple then it stopped. He gave a smile then turned to Trip.
"So the Lumiose gym?" Paul said, surprising the traitors.
"How do you know that?" Iris asked.
"That's none of your business but I will tell you one thing. You're no match for Bonnie." Paul said in confidence.
"Who is Bonnie?" Dawn asked.
"She is the Gym leader, of course. I thought you would've known the strongest gym leader in the world." Paul answered
"She's the strongest?" Iris asked in shock.
"Well she better be after all I trained her." Paul said. Trip then approached Paul with a cocky grin.
"Well if you trained her to battle she might not be that strong, so why waste my time with a weakling." the dirty blonde said.
"I'm afraid that's where you're wrong." Paul said glaring at Trip causing the unova trainer to shake in fear. "She is out of your league and so am I, and also I don't appreciate people talking about my friends." Paul added.
"I was just telling the truth, I mean think about it, you lost to Ash who wins all his battles by luck, so if a weakling beats you, doesn't that make you weak?" Trip argued. Paul gritted his teeth at what Trip just said.
"I would watch my mouth if I were you!" Paul yelled causing Trip to flinch. "If you're so hot stuff let's have a battle right now. If you up for it follow me." Paul turned around and walked away.. Trip, Iris, and Dawn followed him. Few minutes later they reached a battlefield with Paul on one side and Trip on the other. Paul looked over to a park near the battlefield and saw a bunch of kids. "Hey Kids come over here will ya?" the three kids looked at Paul with excitement in their eyes.
"Hey aren't you Paul?" one of the boys asked. Paul smirked and gave a nod. "Wow that's so cool! Can we have your autograph?" the young boy asked, confusing the traitors.
"Sure but how about you be a referee for us and I'll throw in front row tickets for the tournament, deal?" Paul answered. The kids nodded and one of them ran to the ref spot. " and the challenger's name is Trip!" Paul yelled.
"This will be a one on one battle between the challenger Trip and the member of the Big ten Paul. trainers choose your pokemon!" the amateur ref said. Trip was lost in thought when the kid mentioned 'big ten' what was that. Paul noticed and answered his question.
"The big ten is a group of the top 10 trainers of the world." Paul said surprising the traitor. "Anyway no more stalling, Weavile stand by for battle."
Trip then smirked at Paul with confidence in his eyes. 'I would've expected him to have brought out a new Pokemon, or at least his Electivire.' "Come on out Darmanitan!" Trip then released a red ape like Pokemon.
"Darmanitan!" yelled the red gorilla.
Iris then sat next to Dawn to watch the battle alongside the bluenette. "Weavile may have better defense and speed then Darmanitan, but Darmanitan's attack strength will be able to bring Weavile down."
"If you're not gonna strike first then I'll go ahead and start us off, ok Darmanitan use Flamethrower." Darmanitan fired a ray of fire towards Weavile, Trip Iris and Dawn all saw the attack make a direct hit but when the smoke cleared Weavile was nowhere to be seen. "What, where did he go?!" the red gorilla looked around in confusion while Paul just closed his eyes and smirked. "Huh, DARMANITAN BEHIND YOU!" Darmanitan then jumped forward and turned completely around to see the unscathed Weavile standing there with a bored expression across its face.
Both Iris and Dawn stood out of their seats in complete shock. "That's crazy, I knew that Weavile was fast but not that fast!" said a breathless Iris.
"Last time I saw Weavile in battle it wasn't even close to this fast, Paul must've really improved over the years."
Trip just gritted his teeth 'oh yeah, let's see how fast you can react to close combat' "Darmanitan use hammer arm." as the red ape raised its arm ready to hit the Weavile, Paul then opened his eyes and muttered one word to his Weavile.
"Move." Weavile then jumped back and made several clones surrounding the confused ape like pokemon.
Trip then complained, "That's not fair you didn't tell your Weavile to use double team."
Paul gave Trip a small smirk while the two female trainers watched in complete confusion, "It's not, this is just Weavile's average speed."
The three trainers couldn't even come close to believing what Paul just said. "No way, he has to be lying. I've never seen any Pokemon that can move that fast." Dawn had thought to herself. 'Just what kind of training has Paul gone through?'
Paul then lost his smirk as he gave Trip a glare intimidating enough to scare off a gyarados. "Now how about Weavile and I go on the offensive."
Trip was terrified at what would happen if Weavile was to attack Darmanitan. "I won't let you, Darmanitan use flamethrower!"
"Weavil, Ice beam." the purple haired trainer commanded.
"You're gonna counter the fire type move with an ice type move?! That's not gonna work, smart guy." commented a cocky Trip.
"Think again before you get too confident." both beams then collided with the ice beam cancelling out the flamethrower.
"W-WHAT?!" Iris questioned. "How could he have cancelled out a flamethrower with an ice type move?"
"Amazing," Dawn whispered to herself.
"Darmanitan, use flame charge." the blonde trainer ordered.
"Dodge." as the Weavil jumped into the air avoiding the red gorilla's fiery attack. Right after the attack missed the gorilla stopped its attack and jumped up towards the midair Weavile.
"Now, use Focus Punch!" Trip commanded his Darmanitan. The red ape charged up its fist, ready to strike down the Weavile who had no way of avoiding the hit.
Iris then jumped out of her seat with excitement. "He's got him, there's no way Weavil can get out of there."
Dawn then cut in her own opinion. "I wouldn't be so sure."
Paul regained his smirk "Weavile use night slash." The bipedal feline then charged an energy blade in its hand and sliced the Darmanitan before it could throw its focus punch. All of the trainers just stared waiting for a reaction. Then the Darmanitan fell to the ground hardly able to stand up straight.
Trip and the two female trainers couldn't believe how much damage Weavile delivered in one hit. "Darmanitan no." called out the blonde trainer.
"I'm a lot more merciful than I used to be, so shall we finish this?" Paul's eyes then gleamed purple as he commanded his Weavile telepathically. "Use ice beam over your night slash." Weavile then fired a ray of ice over its night slash making an ice dagger. Paul then commanded out loud "NOW, STRIKE IT!" in a blink of an eye Weavile was behind Darmanitan with its arms crossed and the red ape then fell unconscious to the ground.
The amatuer ref then raised his hand towards Paul "Darmanitan is unable to battle, that makes Paul the winner." The kids ran up to Paul praising the powerful trainer and his Pokemon while Trip Iris and Dawn stood there speechless.
Paul looked at the speechless challenger, "If you can't beat me, then I doubt you'll even have a chance at beating Bonnie.
"What?!" questioned a defeated Trip. 'Just how strong are the trainers in this region?' the young blonde thought to himself. Both of the female trainers ran up to the young blonde., but he ignored them and remained focused on Paul. "Next time we battle you won't be so lucky." Trip yelled.
Paul turned around and started to walk away before speaking. "There won't be a next time. I have no time to waste on the likes of you, so I suggest taking your pokemon and head to the Pokemon center." He then left the three trainers with the kids right behind, leaving the former friends star struck.
Iris decided to break the silence. "Trip I hate to say this but Paul is right we need to get Darmanitan to Nurse Joy." Trip nodded and the three headed to the Pokemon Center.
Dawn stopped and turned around in the direction Paul headed. 'If Paul is here, I wonder if..' She was then cut off by Iris calling her to hurry up. Dawn just gave up on the thought and followed the two Unova native.
