"Just you wait Trip, this gym leader isn't nearly as strong as Paul says she is, and I'm gonna prove it." said an angry and confident Max. Iris, Cilan, Trip, Max, and Gary all hurried over to the Lumiose city gym.
Meanwhile in the Lumiose gym….
"Yeah big brother, I'm ready for the tournament, all the trainers that show up to the gym aren't exactly fun to battle anymore. Speaking of which, there are a few of them entering the gym now, okay big brother, I'll see you soon." Bonnie then hung up her phone and stepped onto her battle stage waiting for the trainers to enter. "Lights out." the lights then shut off hiding Bonnie in the shadows.
"Where is everybody?" Gary asked his friends, "I can't see anything." then the lights flashed on revealing the stage and the young blonde trainer and a referee.
"Welcome to the Lumiose gym, I'm the fabulous Bonnie and the strongest gym leader in the world! Which one of you is my challenger?" the blonde hair gym leader said.
"I am, my name is Max Maple from Petalburg city in the Hoenn region, and soon to be Kalos Champion!" Max said approaching the field. When Bonnie heard his name her anger started to build and she wanted to confirm something.
"Sorry but before we start, may I ask you something?" Bonnie said trying to keep her cool, Max gave a nod. " Do you know anyone by the name of May Maple and Ash Ketchum? The gym leader asked, surprising the traitors.
"Of course I know them, even though I wish I didn't. My loser of a sister left with that lame excuse for a trainer years ago even after I warned her it's a bad idea. She's probably a nobody now and regrets it. But how do you know them?" Max answered
"Let me tell you something!" Bonnie yelled causing the other trainers to shiver in fear. "No one ever talks about big brother Ash and big sister May in front of me! As for how I know them if you beat me in our battle I'll tell you."
'Big brother Ash, big sister May? This girl must be close to those two, was she trained by them? If she was then she'll be an easy opponent.' Max thought to himself with a cocky grin on his face. "That's fine, I'll gladly defeat you and get one step closer to being the new Kalos champion." the young trainer stated as he took out a pokeball, "Exploud, stand by for battle!" Max yelled as he released a squat, boxy-looking creature. Bonnie just chuckled at the sight of the Exploud. "What's wrong, lost for words?" asked a cocky Max.
"No, I just expected more from a smartypants like you." Bonnie commented before taking out a Pokeball as well, "Raichu it's play time!"
"An Exploud against a Raichu huh?" Gary questioned to himself, "Max should have the advantage here." Gary commented, boosting Max's confidence.
The referee then took place next to the middle of the arena, "The match will be between Max Maple of the Hoenn Region against Bonnie the gym leader of the Lumiose city gym, let the match BEGIN!" the referee announced.
"I'm going to go ahead and end this thing easily." Max said, "Exploud use Bulldoze!" as the box like Pokemon stomped the ground and sent a miniature earthquake towards Raichu, the orange mouse just smiled.
"Ok Raichu, use iron tail on the ground." Bonnie says towards her pokemon.
"Rai-rai," the orange pokemon then jumped into the air charging a steel shell over its tail, "RAICHU!" The orange pokemon then slammed the iron tail against the ground, canceling out the bulldoze.
'That's the same thing that Ash did against Brock, I guess this girl really did learn from that weak trainer.' Max thought to himself.
"Nice, now hit it with a focus punch!" Bonnie commanded.
"You do the same Exploud, FOCUS PUNCH!" Max commanded the box faced pokemon. Both Raichu and Exploud then charged up a yellow punch and collided fist causing an immense dust cloud, hiding the presence of the two pokemon.
Bonnie chuckled with surprise "Oh, so Exploud does have a bit of speed on it, but it wasn't enough." Exploud then flew out of the dust cloud, colliding against the wall. The box faced pokemon then fell to the ground unconscious.
Iris, Trip, Gary, and Cilan couldn't believe that Exploud was already out of the battle, "How did Exploud lose from a single hit?" Iris asked in complete shock.
'You've got to be kidding me she must've cheated somehow, alright then.' "Houndoom, let's end this!" as Max released the horned dog, Bonnie smiled and giggled.
"Alright Raichu, you have another playmate." the overly excited gym leader said to her orange mouse.
"I won't let her get a hit this time. Houndoom, use Flare Blitz!" as the devilish dog charged towards Raichu while covered in fire, Raichu went down to all four legs with electricity charging from its cheeks.
"Raichu, VOLT TACKLE!" As Bonnie issued the command this, all of the trainers looked with doubt in their eyes, none of them believed that a Raichu would be fast enough to use a move such as volt tackle, they have never been so wrong. Both Pokemon collided with each other with an explosion of lightning and fire, but once the dust cleared, only Raichu was standing and Houndoom was unconscious.
None of the trainers were able to believe that this was actually happening, Iris looked at her companions. "Max is in a tight spot now, he's on his last Pokemon now."
"I know," Cylan responded. "But this will change the tide of the battle, I'm positive."
Gary nodded his head "Raichus been out for a while now, and there's no way that it was holding back in those hits, it must've used up a lot of power."
"I've been playing nice up till now, my partner will end this little battle of ours." Max said with furiosity.
" "little battle"? Please this has been nothing but a game for us, but don't worry, you've been a perfect toy for us." Bonnie stated, just adding fuel to Max's flame.
"I'LL MAKE YOU EAT THOSE WORDS, SCEPTILE COME ON OUT!" Max then released the large green lizard like pokemon..
"Wow a Sceptile? I wanna play with it, Raichu, let's have fun." Bonnie told her Pokemon.
"Rai-rai."
"Sceptile use Leaf Blade!" Max ordered his Pokemon.
"Raichu dodge." Raichu then shook its head refusing to move, "what you want to take the hit? Fine, if you think you can take it, I'll trust you." the green blade from Sceptile's arm then hit Raichu directly in the stomach sending it flying. Max smirked believing that Raichu was out for the count, the orange mouse then got up from the ground dusting itself off. "You won't win with attacks as weak as that, don't worry I'm a fair player, I'll give you four chances to get Raichu out."
Max grinded his teeth in irritation, "Don't get cocky girly, Sceptile use Quick Attack!"
"Counter it with Volt Tackle!" Bonnie responded, both Pokemon charged at each other colliding head on, with both pokemon sliding back. "Now use Iron Tail!"
"Sceptile counter it with Leaf Blade!" the silver tail collided against Sceptile's green arm blade, "Keep blocking it." both Pokemon continued colliding with the attacks, but Sceptile was getting pushed back. "Sceptile, get back and use leaf storm!" The green lizard then jumped into the air and fired leaves off its tail.
"Raichu use thunder." Bonnie told her partner. The orange mouse then charged an electric current and shot it at the leaves canceling it out. "Come on Max, I gave you four chances, you're down to one."
"You and your pathetic rat are going to regret messing with me. Sceptile use SOLAR BEAM!" Max said frustrated. Sceptile's back spheres began to glow as Sceptile charged his blast to max power.
"What did you say, "pathetic rat"? HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT ABOUT MY RAICHU?! RAICHU USE THUNDER!" Bonnie said in an intense rage. Raichu then stuck himself with electricity, fired it up into a small electric cloud, Raichu then threw it down towards Sceptile's leaf storm causing both attacks to be cancelled out. As the collision caused an immense explosion it took away Sceptile's sight of Raichu. "Use thunder as an addition to your iron tail." Bonnie told Raichu. The orange mouse then cut through the dust cloud with an iron tail, then used thunder on the tail making an electric iron tail. "Now Raichu, let's end the game." Raichu then brought the tail down and struck Sceptile on the head, smashing it into the ground. As Raichu jumped out of the crater and the dust settled, Sceptile was knocked unconscious.
"Sceptile is unable to battle Raichu wins which means Bonnie of the Kalos region is the winner," the referee announced 'as usual,' he then thought to himself with a bored expression on his face.
"N-no, no way, how can she be that strong?" Gary questioned with shock and disbelief.
Bonnie returned Raichu to its pokeball, "I wanted to make this battle last, but you insulted my friends." Bonnie told Max angrily.
As all of the trainers looked with disbelief, Max fell to his knees hardly able to stand at the fact that he lost to one pokemon. He trembled with rage with his fist clenched. The others noticed that Max's spirit was shattered to pieces. Trip started walking up to Max. "Come on Max, let's head back to the Pokemon center, we both need to take care of our Pokemon."
'Sniffle' Max wiped the tears away from his face. "Ok, let's go." Max stood up while still looking towards the ground, leaving the gym with Trip while the other three trainers stayed behind at the gym. A transceiver began to ring, breaking the silence in the gym. Bonnie then took a look at the device on her arm, she then turned off the alarm.
"Oh, I have to go meet up with big brother, sorry everyone but if you still want to challenge the gym then you can come back in about three hours." Bonnie then ran out of the gym excited to go hang out with her brother. Iris and the others then ran to catch up with Max and Trip.
"Max!" Iris called out to him, they two trainers looked back to see their companions catching up to them. "Don't worry, I'm heading after Bonnie, there's no way I'm letting her get away with this. I'm going to pummel her and make her regret ever meeting us, I'm the dragon master after all." Iris then went after Bonnie along with Cilan and Gary.
