A/N: Hey Guys! I'm sorry I went ghost for a little while. As you can tell I've deleted all my other stories on my page. Fear not! They will be making appearances slowly as I fine-tune many of them. This will be a short story that I wanted to write after hearing a TikTok mashup, along with a writing prompt, of the Kingdom Dance, Eleanor Rigby, and Test Drive from HTTYD. This mashup really spoke to me so, I'm channeling some of my emotions into this story, please let me know how you like it!
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter nor the rights to this Sound! Two Chapters will be Kingdom Dance
Ever since I could remember I loved Ronald Weasley. If you asked me I could never pinpoint when. I could tell you honestly that I hated him from the first time that I met him. But you know what they say, there's a fine line between love and hate. We could possibly start from our first year…
But most of you know the story. It was when Ron and Harry saved me from the troll and Ron started being civil with me. From there all of our friendships grew, we just didn't know that some would grow past that. Even though our feelings were brought forth by the heat of the moment at the final battle. We decided to pursue a relationship after as we all healed from the war. It was not an easy task but we made it.
Now, we're here. I turn in a slow circle in the field across from the Burrow. Chairs lined either side of a grassy pathway to a beautiful tree arch that was intertwined with the most beautiful wildflowers. Everything was perfect. In a little over a week's time, I would be marrying my best friend, the love of my life, Ronald Billius Weasley. I could not be happier.
I felt a light hand being placed on my shoulder. Looking over it I saw Ginny Weasley, no, Potter. She and Harry had gotten married in October of last year. It was a beautiful fall wedding. All the colors complimented her and Harry. The fiery reds of the trees embodied Ginny and the softer muted tones embodied Harry and his gentle side. I shake my head and pull myself out of my memories.
"C'mon 'Mione. Mum's about to lose her head if we don't settle on food dishes soon." Ginny said with a smile as she tugged on my hand to lead me back to the Burrow. I follow her willingly.
I chuckle to myself seeing that Ginny was right. Poor Ron was sitting in the middle being "forced" to taste all his mum's best dishes. Passing by on my way to Molly, I lean down and peck him on the cheek. Placing my hands on the older witch's shoulders brings her to a short halt in her ministrations. Steadily I level my gaze with her, "Now Molly, it's just a small ceremony. Just a few mince pies and one of your amazing chocolate cakes will suffice. As both are mine and Ronald's favorites," I throw a glance over a Ginny. "And I'm sure Ginny wouldn't mind throwing in a couple dozen of her homemade cookies."
Looking back at the older witch, my words seemed to have calmed her a bit. I use the placement of my hands to draw her in for a hug. Quietly I thank her for all that she's been doing. I let go after a few moments.
A few days later…
Using my palms I smooth down the soft material of my wedding gown. We were doing a final fitting before the wedding that Saturday. This couldn't be real. But it is.
As a little girl, I thought I would be the old crazy cat lady who lived next door. But here I was at twenty years old, nearly twenty-one, getting married and proving everyone I knew in my childhood wrong. Looking out the window a small smile graced my lips as I remembered all the times that someone said that I would end up with no one but the cats to love me.
My school bully Allison pushed me down on the playground. Tears start to well up in my eyes as my knee twinges from what will surely be a scrape. To me this was nothing new, I was just waiting on her and everyone else to call me a know-it-all, freak, annoying, and ugly. This was just another routine occurrence. This time the tears overflowed as these new words slapped me in the face.
"No one will ever love a know-it-all like you. How could they even put up with an ugly mug like yours! You'll see you will be the barmiest craziest cat lady down the street to exist!" All who heard her screeched with laughter at that.
If only they knew. If she was to be totally honest with herself, she started seeing herself differently in her Fourth Year at the Yule Ball and when she briefly dated the renowned Quidditch star, Viktor Krum.
I had never felt more beautiful as I looked myself over in the bathroom mirror for what felt like the millionth time that night. Excited was an understatement. Lavender and Parvati, no matter how much I couldn't stand them, cooed over how I looked.
All too soon my nerves caught up to me. I smoothed my hands down over my periwinkle blue dress robes. I was also nervous about Harry and Ron finding out my mystery date was Krum. But all too soon I had to face my fears as I was at the top of the staircase leading to the Great Hall and everyone was staring at me. I gave a nervous smile and started my descent to meet Krum.
All too son again, my night was ruined by Ron being a prick by being jealous or whatever the bloody hell he was being.
I chuckle at the memory. This earns a skeptic look from Molly and Ginny. I wave them off saying it is just nerves. This seems to be a good enough answer as they continue magically altering my dress to fit me, as they insisted on doing. Sighing to my lips with a slight smile, I decided that I'm ready as I'll ever be.
