The morning of the wedding was a blur. But to Hermione it was creeping along as if it were a snail. The wedding was set to take place at exactly four o'clock that evening. She didn't think she would be able to wait much longer to get married.
Hermione was a nervous wreck knowing she'd be the center of attention once again. She was not keen on that idea as the last time that had happened was when she and Ron announced their engagement. She shook her head trying to clear the thought of being bombarded by wizarding photographers and horrid reporters like Rita Skeeter. Hermione was pulled from her thoughts as Fleur yanked the brush through her thick curls once again.
"At this rate Hermione you'll never get married." Ginny joked while munching on breakfast her mother had brought up. Hermione just glared at her through the mirror. This made Ginny laugh along with Fleur, causing Hermione to just roll her eyes.
"But all jokes aside 'Mione. You'll look beautiful and stunning. Ron won't know what hit him." A new voice said from the doorway. Hermione looked up and met Harry's emerald green eyes and smiled at him. She mouthed a thank you, he just nodded. "Everything is about set up, if Molly would just stop trying to perfect everything."
Hermione chose this moment to reply, "Good. You know Molly, it gives her something to do. Both you and I know if she didn't she'd be in here driving everyone up a wall." This caused everyone in the room to laugh and nod their heads.
Molly Weasley the Matriarch was a secret perfectionist in some instances. Preparing and planning a wedding was one of them. There was no stopping the mother of seven from making sure each and every one of her sons and daughter's weddings were perfect. As she loved everyone unconditionally, she put in the same unconditional effort. George had joked about her perfectionist ways soon after Hermione and Ron announced their engagement to the family. For once Hermione could not agree more with the prankster.
The rest of the day wore on ever so slowly. Hermione just had her makeup finished by none other than Molly Weasley, her soon to be mother-in-law. While it made her heart ache that her parents were not there, she was glad that there was a motherly figure to be there for her on her wedding day.
Hermione looked at herself in the mirror. She could safely say that Molly had outdone herself with this magical makeup. It was natural, just like Hermione had wanted. Gingerly she smoothed over her hair, which was done in an elegant half up-do. She felt even more beautiful than she did at the Yule Ball all those years ago.
The good memories of that night popped into her head. She chuckled at the remembrance of Viktor asking for one last dance after he got drinks, that never came as Ron had let his jealousy get the best of him. She would have to find Viktor and carry out the last request that was made many years ago. While it seemed not that long ago it also seemed like it was also forever ago. Though she did fulfill that request at Bill and Fleur's wedding, she reminded herself, he did ask for another dance at the wedding before it broke out into chaos.
Ginny laid a hand on Hermione's silk clad shoulder. She looked up to meet the redhead's eyes. They glowed with excitement that reflected Hermione's. Her hazel eyes held the question of 'Are you ready?' All that she could do to respond to her best friend was nod her head.
Getting up out of the plush chair she lifted her hands over her head to stretch. Feeling her back crack slightly at the movement brought instant relief from sitting for the past few hours. There was rustling behind her as Ginny and Fleur got out her dress robes.
These robes were made of fine material and were a light shade of ivory. While Hermione liked traditional things at times, she wanted to wear something other than a bright shade of white to reflect her style. She ran a hand over the robes feeling her excitement grow more and more. She couldn't believe that she was finally going to marry her best friend, well one of them anyways.
She was hidden behind the back door of the Burrow. It was only a few more minutes until her and Ron would finally see one another and be joined together for an eternity. Words could not describe how ready Hermione was. Everything was perfect thanks to Molly.
The clock struck four o'clock and Ginny strode out elegantly as light music filled the air. Ginny was dressed in a spring green dress robes. They complemented her hair perfectly. Though she would be the only one walking alone down the aisle, as Harry was escorting her as her honorary brother.
Soon after Ginny was out the door, Bill offered Fleur his arm. As she would have liked to include every single one of Ron's brothers, Hermione did not have that many friends who were of the same sex as her. She had gotten lost in her thoughts and excitement that when Harry tugged on her sleeve it startled her. He gave her a thumbs up before stepping into the doorway and offering her his arm.
Steeling her nerves Hermione looped her arm through his, took a deep breath and looked down to where Ron was standing. She could have sworn to have seen him wipe tears from his eyes from all the way back here. Hermione smiled to herself. Well maybe he doesn't have the emotional range of a teaspoon afterall.
Not soon enough Ron and Hermione were standing hand in hand in front of Kingsley Shackelbolt. As he, the Minister of Magic, was performing the ceremony. She was grateful that he was there and was the one officiating. Hermione couldn't imagine anyone else doing this for them.
Soon Hermione was being swept into a mind-blowing kiss. It was only mind blowing because she was now officially married. Ron had gone for the dramatics and dipped her into a low bow to seal their marriage with a kiss. He gently raised her up and raised their conjoined hands in the air. There was a resounding applause as Kingsley announced the newlywed couple.
Instead of walking normally down the aisle the pair decided to be spontaneous and jog giddly. The pair entered the Burrow and swept one another into a searing kiss. Hermione could not wipe the ridiculous grin off of her face. It seemed like Ron was not able to either.
It was not long after the pair was married that they were in the same tent as Bill and Fleur had been in the summer before the war. But this time it would end without the chaos and destruction. Hermione couldn't help but be a little bit thankful for that chaos and destruction as it finally led to the downfall of Voldemort in the end.
Hermione was swept into an upbeat dance with Ron after their traditional first dance. Other couples joined in with their joyous celebration. She looked around and saw Harry whisking Ginny around the dancefloor along with some of the Weasley's and their significant others. The song soon ended, and another lively song started up.
Deciding that this would be the song that she would fulfill the request to Viktor just to humor him. It didn't take long to seek out the sultry Bulgarian Quidditch player she offered her hand to dance. He accepted it after he lightly kissed his girlfriend on her cheek.
As they took to the dance floor everyone who wasn't dancing started clapping to the beat of the music. It wasn't long until Viktor was energetically twirling her around the dance floor. The song suddenly picked up the pace after a small interlude. As the tempo built, so did the dancer's speed. Everyone who was dancing and not, were laughing as everyone was having fun watching the couples move about the dance floor. She had spotted Ron dancing with his mother at some point.
Viktor was her one last twirl around the dance floor as the peak of the music was starting to sound. It sounded like horns but it worked well with the music. That was until a blood curdling scream sounded and Hermione's stomach dropped to her feet.
