Chapter 5: The Dive

Nothing...But an endless sea of darkness.

This place, this darkness. It wasn't cold...It was warm…Hikari heard the light sound of her feet touching something below. Light surrounded her and she opened her eyes.

The floor was beautiful stained glass, depicting a picture of a large yellow crown over a blue heart.

Reach the very depths of your heart...And know who you are...A gentle voice called to her as a door appeared in front of her. Open the door, and become what you are destined to be...Be not afraid of it, embrace it...For it is who you truly are…

Cautiously Hikari reached the door, light engulfed her again and she was transported to another stained glass floor, this one of the same picture but inverted coloring.

Take was is yours to take...Use it to battle the darkness inside you…

A beam of light was in front of her, forming into a very odd shaped sword. It resembled a large key with a yellow handle. The handle felt warm in her grip, almost as if it were meant just for her.

Careful, child...The closer you are to light, the larger the darkness becomes.

Behind her a gigantic form towered over her, it's yellow eyes promising instant destruction. In fear she ran to the edge of the plane but stopped when she discovered there was nowhere to go.

Don't be afraid...Face it...Face the darkness with the light of your heart…

There was nothing else to do but to do as the voice said...Fight...And fight she did. It was like an unforeseen power engulfed her very soul, helping her to dodge and hit when needed. She allowed the force to control her body, flipping and hitting the black entity until it faded into a blackened sea. Tired from the ordeal, Hikari fell to her knees, the blade gripped tightly in her hands.

You...Are ready…Your journey begins...NOW!

"NO!" Hikari threw the blade to the ground, sheer terror consuming her. Rising to her feet she backed away from the blade that, to her, promised nothing but death. She just couldn't stop thinking about the moment when Bulma's lifeless form fell into her arms...She didn't want to fight something like Raven...She didn't want to die! "I don't want to do this! I'm normal, you hear me! NORMAL!"

To deny your calling is to deny your true self, child…

A mirror appeared before her. Her reflection was nowhere to be seen.

Though you were a mere babe, the memories are still engraved within your heart.

A woman's image appeared, a beautiful woman with brown hair and kind eyes. Beside her was a man with spiky brown hair...Also with kind eyes, though a bit of mischief was hidden within them. The two adults were staring at something so lovingly that it made Hikari's heart break.

She knew them...A woman...by the name of Kairi...and a Keyblade Wielder...With the name of Sora…

Tears fell down her cheeks as she placed a hand on the mirror. Though she had never met them, she knew in her heart these were her parents. Their eyes held hope of a future blessed with love and light. She had often wondered why she had been given away...Was it because her parents didn't love her? No...These people in the mirror couldn't do such...They truly loved her...and loved her still…

Deep in her heart HIkari knew Raven had been telling her lies...Her parents weren't dead...They were alive! And...They were waiting for her...

To deny your calling...Is to deny them…Will you allow them to fall?

The mirror cracked and shattered into thousands of pieces, each one scattering across the surface.

"No...No!" Hikari fell to her knees, trying to grip for each piece but try as she might the pieces would move from her reach.

"Hikari! Hurry!" She heard Max's voice from the darkness.

Even he too...Shall fall...Should you deny what is yours to have…

Even though she had just met Max, she knew he had been looking out for her...The hardships he must have gone through just to keep her safe...And right now...He...and her parents...needed her.

Hikari admitted it, she was scared, she was worried...So many negative thoughts were running through her mind but there were others that were out winning them all...The need to survive, the need to help…

The need...for family….

She regarded the discarded Keyblade several paces away. If she didn't conquer her fears, her worries...She would be denying her parents and Max...She would be allowing them to fall, like Bulma...Like everyone else…

With sheer determination Hikari rushed to the Keyblade, gripping it in both hands she stilled her wavering heart.

"I'm coming Max!" She shouted before a great light surrounded her and the dark space was gone.
