Chapter 13: She Who Fears Most
Konoha was silent under the full moon. Naruto and his men worked fast, moving any and all civilians out of the city in a span of a few hours. They must be used to having their village constantly attacked because there didn't appear to be any panic amongst anyone, ninja or villager alike.
The highest point of Konoha was the Hokage mountain, a great cliff in which the faces of previous Hokages are carved. Here Hikari stood with Max and Shin, waiting for D-Day to commence.
"What's...This quiet?" Hikari hated this silence...it was unnerving.
"The great breath…" Shin explained. "Before a great battle...There is always a sort of calm…" He looked at Hikari. "You're scared."
"Well of course I am!" She admitted it wholeheartedly.
"Don't worry." Max was at her other side. "I'm here with you...Shin too." He winked at her. "We won't let you fall…"
"Why am I not surprised…" The voice came on the breath of the wind. Behind them the entity's vessel stood under the moonlight. This was a man named Sasuke, or so Naruto had called him. "We should give your little group a name, Hikari...How about the losers of light?"
"Why are you doing this!?" She asked the entity.
"What's it any of your business?" A shrug. "This isn't your home, nor was the Realm of Strength your home...Why care about a place you don't belong to?" Those red eyes went to Shin. "Do you want to see it? Your realm's key?" He held out a hand.
The Keyblade that appeared was in the shape of a green dragon, the hilt circular built with orange balls that held red stars on them.
"You wouldn't believe who had this…" The entity stared at the Keyblade. "Apparently the strongest person is one who constantly battles the darkness within...That was quite surprising. A person who still struggles with thoughts of darkness, yet has various lights around him to quell the silent whispers in his heart. Now...Don't get me wrong, the guy was hard to deal with after missy here…" He pointed the Keyblade at Hikari. "Expelled me from my host...Yet here we stand...Me with the Realm of Strength's Keyblade...and you three about to die."
Max frowned. "This doesn't have anything to do with Kaguya...Does it?"
"Why would I care about some stupid goddess trapped in the moon?" The entity chuckled. "That's her own damn fault...Me...I have other plans...Bigger ones...and I'm not inclined to tell you them…I do though...wish to entertain you…" His eyes lost their blackness, replaced with red. A giant smirk splayed over the man's face. "Let's see just exactly how these babies work huh?"
Staring into the red eyes was a heavy mistake. One glance of them washed away all of Konoha. Before Hikari lay nothing but a barren wasteland and she was alone...or so she thought.
"Why did you abandon me!? Why!? I even said my home was your home!"
She came from a mist, Bulma...With absolute hatred her eyes gazed upon Hikari.
"I did EVERYTHING for you! And you walk away!? For what!? Some parents who abandoned you! Give me a break!
It was one thing to know your fears...It was another to face them.
"Your parents don't love you! They LEFT you on my sister's doorstep!" Bulma encircled her.
Two forms appeared a few lengths away, their bodies wavy and black.
This...Bulma...gave a smirk.
"They should be punished for their actions, shouldn't they Hikari?"
The Keyblade appeared...As if a will of its own, the Keyblade was practically pulling her towards the dark forms.
"Go on...Do it! They don't love you! I'm the ONLY one in your miserable life that loved you!" Bulma's screeching voice could be heard all around. "Kill them! They don't deserve to live!"
"No!" Hikari tried to let go of the Keyblade but it wouldn't budge. "Stop it! Stop it!" What was going on!? None of this made ANY sense!
"Come on Hikari, it's true and you know it…" Out of the darkness came Max. "They abandoned us both...Why should they even exist in the first place?"
"NO!" Hikari cried. "I won't kill! I won't kill anyone!"
The Keyblade abruptly halted, the force so great that she fell to the ground below.
"Oh...You've killed someone…" Raven came next. "Though you don't remember it...You were born a murderer…"
"I...What…?" His words made no sense.
"Murderer…" Raven said again.
"Murderer.." Max repeated.
"Murderer!" Bulma screamed.
Covering her ears, Hikari shut it all out. She wasn't a murderer! She hadn't killed anyone!
"You're going to kill your parents...Just like your first kill…" Raven approached. "Go on...Do it...It's part of your nature…You were born to kill people, Hikari...That's what the Keyblade is for…"
"NO! You're wrong!" She rose to her feet, gripping the Keyblade tightly in her hands, she glared at the shadows around her.
"Get out of my thoughts! NOW!" Hikari shouted and swiped at the figures before her one by one.
Before Raven's form disappeared, he gave a light grin.
"Fear is a great weapon, Hikari...It's time you started to embrace it…Remember...You're all alone...Always have been…"
Hikari looked past the inky blackness around her, Raven's words sinking in…Was he right? Had she always been alone? Was everything just...a lie? She fell to the ground, the negative thoughts sinking in...She was scared, she was alone…
Get up.
"Huh? What?" What was that voice?
I said...GET UP.
"Who…" Standing, she looked around...She knew that voice...harsh it was...though hardly spoken.
Said it…
"Say what?"
Said it!
"What...Say what!?"
You know what. Say it...Or I'm leaving you here to rot.
The tone was cruel and harsh, but also...caring in its odd way.
Hikari bit her lip…
"I'm...scared…" As she spoke those words she felt the tears beginning to form. "I'm scared okay!? I just want to go home but...But I don't know where home is anymore! I need help! Someone...ANYONE! Help me!"
Silence.
About damn time.
She caught a glimpse of white boots...a body clad in blue spandex...and a golden aura befitting the sun.
That bastard stole power from me...Seems the only way I will be able to get it back...Is to help your sorry butt...Fine... Hikari's eyes met harsh greens. A smirk promising pain to its enemies splashed across a hard face.
Stand aside brat...That bastard...Is mine…
