Bella returned to the sleeping quarters, seeing Tris, Jasper, Christina, Al and Will all together in their little clique, but it was Peter that approached her. She turned her gaze to him, waiting for him to be a smart ass. "What?"

"You think you're making waves here. Taking out the top dog. You got real lucky today."

"Oh really?" Bella said, crossing her arms.

Peter nodded, his attitude cocky. Sure he had helped save Lukas's life, but a lot happened. Bella was just a stiff from Abnegation and he was willing to bet that she had a breaking point. He would find it. "Yeah. You got lucky on those mats today. Don't let it go to your head."

"Wasn't planning on it, though for someone that looked like a frightened bitch while I saved Lukas's life, you sure do talk a lot." Bella goaded Peter. It only riled Peter up. His blue eyes stared into her intensely. His boy wonder hero hair, was too sculpted on his head and Bella could tell that he cared a lot about vanity. "I can't wait to break your nose in a spar."

"I dare you to try." Peter said, standing up to her, looking down at her now, his chest touching hers.

Bella didn't flinch or waiver, she stared back at him. "Unless you're going to plant one on me right now, I suggest you walk away Peter or it'll get ugly."

"Watch your back." Peter threatened and then walked away.

Bella rolled her eyes and walked over to her bunk and Jasper was snickering.

"Watch your back." He mocked Peter. He slapped Bella on her shoulder. "Look at you returning late. Where have you been most of the day."

"Got a new tat." Bella said with a nod.

Tris waggled her brows. "I wanna see."

Bella nodded and turned, pulling her shirt up. She was braless because of losing her top and bra at the bazaar but she wasn't modest.

Everyone gathered to study the design on her back. There were some oohs.

"Damn darlin' looks like that one actually hurt." Jasper said, leaning back.

Will had an arm snug around Christina, the two were joined at the hip nearly and usually couldn't keep their hands off each other. "Are you going for full body?"

Bella shook her head. "Nah, well. Maybe, who knows." She said, turning, her breasts flashing though she pulled her shirt back on.

Tris was the modest one and she glanced away as did Al, but the other three didn't mind.

"First chance I get, I'm going to the tattoo shop and having another one." Jasper said. "To make up for being branded."

"Oh yeah, you're supposed to brand my name on you. Gotta take ownership. Sorry Chris, he's mine now." Bella teased.

Chris grinned. "It is my greatest accomplishment." She said and then kissed Will.

Tris smiled. She didn't have any tattoos yet, though she didn't know if she would be so bold. "What do the marks on your arm mean?"

"Oh. Fights won. And lost." Bella said.

"3 and 0 baby." Al said grinning wide and high fived Bella. "Now if you can rub some of that skill off on me then maybe I'll make it above the line at some point.

"Same." Tris said, smiling.

Bella smiled. "You guys will get there. Let's get some rest before we train in the morning." She suggested, they all groaned and whined, but eventually they settled down.

Bella was up first, like always and made it to the training room. She set her stuff down and stretched, hopping around a little as she did to get her blood pumping. She saw Jasper emerge taking a light jog into the training room. She smiled at him as she pulled her shirt off. "Where's the others?"

"Chris wanted to do firearms on the roof with Al and Tris. They're going to watch from behind the metal barrier that Four had brought in after you were shot." Jasper said and stretched a little.

"That is a smart idea." Bella admitted.

"Yeah. Don't know why they hadn't implemented it before. Maybe this year the recruits just suck that bad." Jasper joked.

Bella walked over to Jasper and then put her foot up on his shoulder to stretch. His hands came up to hold her ankle as she stretched. "I think this is the first year that they're pushing so hard. The line thing is new."

"Yeah, but we'll make it. I think that we stand a chance if we keep training and practicing." Jasper said as Bella swapped legs and he held that ankle while she stretched.

Bella moved her foot off Jasper's shoulder, turning she flung her arms a little and then shook her hands out before she bent at the waist to touch the ground, her ass looking tight in her leather pants as she bent over.

Jasper smiled, checking her out. "You are sexy." He said and Bella looked at him through her legs, upside down.

"Oh really?"

"You know that you are." Jasper said and walked over to her, his hands sliding from her waist and down her back, bending her more. Bella was extremely flexible and his body pushed against hers. He wasn't aroused, yet. Though it was intimate, pushed together like this. He bent over her, stretching with her.

Bella smiled and when they leaned up, she turned to face Jasper. "You are ballsy. Getting comfortable with me." She said and his hands moved over her hips.

"Maybe, though I enjoy how you feel. Do you like how I feel?" He asked then he took her hand and ran it up his chest.

"I would be lying if I said you didn't feel great." Bella said with a smile.

Jasper moved one hand up, hooking it under her chin to tilt her face up and his mouth covered hers, kissing her.

Eric sighed. One of the last things he wanted to wake up to and see downstairs in the training area, that Bella and Jasper were together. Jasper was always flirting with her, and she flirted with him, so he wondered what sort of relationship they had. But he cleared his throat anyways. "I don't care what you do with your time, but you're not going to use my training room for it."

Bella pulled away from Jasper at the sound of Eric's voice, stunned that he was there suddenly and so early. "You're up early." She said, playing off her shock.

Eric glanced at his watch. "This is normal for me. " He said and looked at the palm pilot. "Where's the rest of your little merry band of misfits?"

"A, they're not misfits and B, training in other areas that isn't physical." Bella said and stretched more, bending at her sides.

Eric had stopped, standing there between Jasper and her. He had done it intentionally. He watched Bella stretch and bend. "Then shouldn't you be there with them? I'm assuming marksmen training and you are the best marksman." He said and continued to look at his palm pilot and scroll through the training logs.

Jasper looked at Bella, sort of confused with Eric's interjection, but he humored him. "Bella is very physical. Chris and Will are helping with firearms for Tris and Al."

Eric looked over at Jasper for the first time. He studied him. "Jasper was it?" He said and Jasper nodded. "Hmmm." Was all he said and then looked back at his palm pilot. "Whatever, training room is for training, not sex." He said and then walked away.

Bella sighed and looked at Jasper who smiled at her. "Don't look at me like that." She said with a grin then turned away from him and went and picked up the jump rope to work on cardio.

Eric hadn't liked seeing Bella and Jasper together like that. It was still bothering him hours later. He crossed his arms as he watched knife throwing. Most Dauntless born, were capable of at least getting a knife stuck in the wood. Some, lacked, whereas his main people, Lukas, Uriah, Edward and Demetri, were always on point, no matter what. He looked across the way at Four's bunch. Bella was an expert with the knives and Jasper was fairing pretty well too. Some of the others were hit and misses, but that was expected out of transfers. Jasper smiled over at Bella and she smiled back at him which made something in Eric's head snap. "Alright." He called out. "Knives up, let's do spars." He said and everyone gathered over near the mats. Lukas's face was mostly black and blue from his tango with Bella, but he was cleared by the doctor to start back to training again. Dauntless didn't like to be in infirmary long and Lukas was no different. "Let's start off with Peter… and Tris."

Bella frowned and looked at her sister. Peter had jumped on stage so excited and she knew that this wasn't going to end well for Tris. She crossed her arms and started to say something, but Tris lay her hand on her shoulder and shook her head, quieting Bella down.

Tris took the stage on the mats and faced Peter. She tried to look tough and remember everything that she had been training for since she got there as she took her stance.

Peter was fast. He was a kickboxer and it showed with his speed and agility, as he whipped across the stage and he hit Tris, before Tris knew it, she was down. Peter rushed her unconscious frame and hit her in the face a couple times, before it was Bella on the stage, knocking him back.

"She's down. You stop the fight!" Bella yelled at Peter, but he swung his leg at her, she caught his foot and her takedown was excellent. It surprised Peter enough to where now he was on the ground and she had mounted him, sliding in for side control and pulling his arm back into an armbar.

Peter yelped as she torqued his arm. "Let go of me you bitch!"

"You're gonna tap today Peter or you'll lose your arm." Bella growled.

Peter swung, his hand reaching her side, nailing her a few times. It was where she had been shot, though her stitches weren't completely healed, so it busted open and blood was getting everywhere.

Bella pulled back, applying pressure at his wrist and she felt the popping in Peter's arm as she overextended the armbar. "Tap bitch."

Peter yelled in anger and agony as everything in his shoulder tore. "I will kill you."

"I'd like to see you fucking try," Bella said, through clenched teeth and then she twisted his elbow and snapped it. Breaking his arm. She released him as he yowled and she didn't give him a moment to scream or cry anymore because her elbow drop into his face, refracturing his nose. It was all she needed for it to be lights out for him.

Bella got to her feet. "Who's lucky Peter? Fuck you." She said and turned only to get tackled to the mats by Edward. He brought his elbow down and she turned just in time for it to hit the mat beside her head. He had a full mount on her, though she passed her own hands through his arms and bucked her hips at the same time, dismounting him. She got to her feet at the same time and Edward started to lunge at her, but her front kick to his face snapped his head back and it knocked him out cold. She was panting, her body quaking from exerting so much energy, but she turned, her eyes catching Lukas's. He was standing there, silent, watching Bella. But she didn't focus on him long, before her gaze caught Eric's. Who looked mildly amused.

Four sighed. "Alright, that's enough. Uriah, Andrew, John, take these three to infirmary." He said, calling it.

Eric hit something on the palm pilot and the board changed. Bella took ninth.

"Seriously?" Bella said, perching her hands on her hips. "Peter and Edward stay their position?"

"You gained and lost points at the same time. Peter won his spar and Edward got a tackle on you. Want to smart off again and actually get your ass beat?" Eric dared her to talk back again.

Bella glared at him. "You're an ass."

"Thank you." Eric said. "Get off my fucking stage." He said, dead serious.

Bella got down, not hesitating. She was drenched in sweat now, so she pulled her shirt off, blood pooling out of her side at her torn stitches.

Eric sighed. "Four. Take them through some more drills. Bella clinic." He barked, irritated.

Bella rolled her eyes and turned and walked towards the clinic and Eric followed her. Once behind closed doors, she turned and looked at Eric. "I get that I piss you off, but seriously. Edward? Like he just tried to-"

"Just like you did Peter." Eric interrupted her. "You don't get to decide when to question the rules. You just follow them. You don't get to question me, ever."

"Why? Because you don't like me."

Eric made a hmph noise. "You seriously think I don't like you?"

"You're always an ass."

"I have to be. It's my job to make it harder on you guys. I'm training Dauntless soldiers. If I show an ounce of remorse out there, that is a sign of weakness. Now shut up and sit on the table so I can stitch your side… again." Eric ordered her.

Bella sat on the table like asked. "Weaknesses are subjective."

"Oh really?" Eric said as he cleaned her side up first before disinfecting it before stitching it.

"Really."

"Weakness is weakness."

Bella snorted. "If that were true, then we wouldn't be in factions."

Eric raised a brow and looked up at her as he stitched her up. "How do you figure that?"

"We're placed into factions based on our strengths."

Eric thought about it and nodded. "Alright, that's true. But with strengths comes weaknesses."

"Which is why there is a faction system. We all fit into our roles here. Your role is to teach recruits, train soldiers. My role is to be that recruit and soldier. Just like everyone else that transferred or stayed." Bells said. "But to say that weakness is just weakness." She shook her head. "Sometimes people's weaknesses become their strengths."

Eric finished the last stitch and then grabbed the bandage. "I suppose that's true. Though I'm curious how you came to think like this."

Bella raised a brow now, looking down at Eric. "I read a lot. Have you ever been to the communal library? Or have a dad as a teacher?"

"I don't really know my dad. I came to Dauntless for Lukas, but our dad was killed on the wall, so." Eric said and stood.

Bella frowned. "I'm sorry."

"Why? I'm not. I don't care about things like that."

"You say that you don't, but it's part of what who you are."

"I'm nothing like my father." Eric said, his voice thick with irritation.

Bella hopped down off the table and went to Eric, putting her hand on his arm to turn him. "I didn't say you were. I'm saying, him not being there for you, is part of who you are. You would be a different person had he been in your life."

Eric's steel eyes stared down at her. Her touch was soft, gentle and it was comforting. His gaze fell to her hand then. Her hand was tiny compared to his bicep. Bella was small, she had gained muscle being there, but her strength was impressive considering.

"Eric." Bella murmured, drawing his attention back to her face. "Are you okay?"

Eric raised a brow, again. "Yes. Why wouldn't I be."

"You got quiet."

"Sometimes I do that." Eric said and moved away from her slightly. He ran a hand through his hair, even if it was slicked back. He did this out of habit.

Bella sighed. "Don't do that."

"Don't do what?"

"Turn away. I know you Eric."

Eric looked back at her then. "You don't know me Bella. Just because we've fucked, doesn't mean you know me."

Bella felt the sting of his words, so she shook her head. "You know what then. Fuck you Eric. I'm not going to try and be your friend when-"

"We're not friends and will never be friends." Eric said pointedly.

"And that's your choice. I'm not going to waste energy on you if you're just going to act like this."

"Like what? Like your god damn instructor? Like I'm a Dauntless leader? You're a recruit."

"Yeah, it's crystal clear Eric. No need to rub salt in the wound now."

Eric moved towards her, he towered her, but he leaned down, his hands planted firmly on her butt as he pulled her to his hard body and he kissed her. It was a moment of his weakness. Kissing Bella like this, in the clinic while training was still going on out there. It was a risk, something he didn't do with stuff like this.

Bella kissed back, wanting to initially push him away, but she couldn't. She needed this kiss, she realized and he was giving it to her. It stole her breath away and when he pulled back, letting her go, she looked at him confused. "I don't understand…"

"You make me crazy." Eric admitted. "It pisses me off and I don't understand it myself. Stop fucking with me Bella." He said, his tone sharper than he intended.

"I'm fucking with you?" Bella looked appalled.

Eric ran his hand through his hair again. "Yes. You are."

"How am I fucking with you?"

"Jasper."

"What about him?"

Eric closed his eyes, his jaw clenching, he was losing his control. He had to reel it back in. "You're fucking him."

Bella was quiet a moment, recovering from Eric's tone. "You're kidding me right?"

"Tell me I'm mistaken then." Eric said.

"You're acting jealous right now."

"I'm not."

"If you weren't you wouldn't even say that. Or even be bothered by it."

Eric nodded. He got his answer. He didn't like it. "Does he know?"

"Know about what?"

"Know about me and you?"

"God no. Do you think I'm stupid?" Bella was appalled. "Jasper and me. It was one time. One time Eric, I swear to god this is ridiculous. I don't have to answer for my sex life to you."

"You have laid in my bed Bella."

"And I participated in an orgy in the bazaar." Bella said, perching her hands on her hips. "You're acting insane."

Eric laughed then. "God, you're making me insane." He ran his hands over his face, his composure slipping. "I don't even-"

It hit Bella then. "You have feelings for me."

"What? No I fucking don't."

"Yes, you do. You wouldn't be acting this way if you didn't."

Eric looked at her point blank. "I don't have feelings for you. I don't develop feelings for recruits."

"Have you fucked any other recruits?"

"No but-"

"My point remains. You know what Eric? I'll let you, be you. When you figure it out though, it may be too late for you." Bella said then she went to the door and she left him in the clinic. She went back to the sparring area, watching Chris and Uriah clench up on the mats. Uriah was dominating, but Bella didn't care about it at the moment. She just cared about what the hell was going through Eric's head right now.
