Chapter 4: A Visit to the Hospital.
Mr. Dean has landed as he was at the hotel, eating some lunch. He's been texting his son, Jordan back & forth. Jordan was still at home waiting for his dad to come to his house & pick him up. Jalin is awake, still at the hospital as they were watching TV. Mr. Dean got up as he washed up & then headed to the van as he drove to his son's house.
"I'm on my way right now son. Please be outside so I can see where you live." Mr. Dean sent the text as he followed the GPS directions to their house.
Jordan read the text as he got up. "Hey guys, my dad is on his way here. I'll let him know that y'all wanna come with me to the hospital." Jordan told the Rainbow Buddies as he smiled at them.
The Rainbow Buddies all agreed as they smiled at him.
"Umm, Jordan, is your dad okay with us being….well you know…..gay?" Simon asked as he shut his eyes.
Jordan smiled as he put his hand on Simon's shoulder. "He's very supportive. When Jalin came out as 'genderfluid' dad told them, 'as long as you're happy and not hurting yourself or others, then go for it.'" Jordan told him as he smiled.
Simon smiled big as he saw a van outside. He looked at Jordan & used his eyes to let him know that someone was outside. Jordan turned around as he checked his phone.
"I think I'm here son. :)" Mr. Dean replied in text.
"That's him guys. Follow me please." Jordan said to them as he opened the door.
Mr. Dean got out of the van as he gasped seeing almost about 10 boys coming out of the house as they all smiled at Jordan's dad. Jordan came out last as he smiled at his pop.
"Jordan my boy! I wasn't expecting to see so many young men here!" Mr. Dean said happily as he walked up to them.
"Dad, these are Jalin's friends. They met them at a summer camp last year." Jordan told his dad as he smiled.
"It's nice to meet you boys. I'm Braxton Dean. Father of Jordan and Jalin. Thank you for being a friend of my kids. They're pretty chill and laid back, huh?" Mr. Dean said as he chuckled.
"Thank you Mr. Dean. We're so sorry for what happened. We're excited and nervous to see them…is it okay we go with y'all?" Simon asked him.
"Of course! That's why I rented this van. Come on boys. I think my daughter will love to see you right now." Mr. Dean said as Natsumi opened the van door.
Natsumi smiled at his friends as they all got in. Kieran sat behind Jordan as they both got in & drove off.
"Here's the address to the hospital, dad. Jalin has been awake for like two hours now." Jordan told him.
"Ah, thank you son. Let's get there before your crazy mom does." Mr. Dean said as he drove there.
The Rainbow Buddies stayed quiet. Not too sure what to say. Kieran tried to hold back his tears. His anxiety was bouncing off the walls. Simon messaged the group chat.
Curious Swan: "Are y'all okay? We should play some music."
Prince Lion: "I'm just nervous for some reason…I mean, I know she's not 'dead' but like…what if she looks terrible?"
Red Tiger: "I just messaged Jaxon, hang on."
Jalin was able to send them a selfie in the group chat. She was wearing the hospital gown that was pastel white with small blue petals on it. She smiled at them giving them the thumbs up.
Crisis Skunk: "Healing." Jalin said in the group chat using the heart bandaged heart & yellow pink flowers emojis.
Everyone hearted the photo.
Prince Lion: "Love, are you okay? We're on our way!"
Crisis Skunk: "Haha, I'm alright babe. Are y'all taking the bus?"
Curious Swan: "You'll see, Jalin.~ ;)"
Crisis Skunk: "Also my mom came by earlier but she's just in the hospital lobby eating some lunch. I didn't tell Jordan, because I know he'll freak out."
Prince Lion: "Your mom's there?! D: Did she say anything to you, sweetie?"
Crisis Skunk: "Sorry boys, but this is private now." Jalin went to private messages to message Kieran.
"You boys are awfully quiet back there. Is everything alright?" Mr. Dean asked them.
"Yes sir. We're still a little shaken up from last night." Simon finally said as he sighed.
"Were you boys there when the whole thing happened?" Mr. Dean asked them.
"Actually sir, I called Jordan and then my friends for help. Jordan knocked down the door and pushed your ex wife off Jalin. Then we all came in." Kieran explained to him.
"Ah. I see. Where were you boys?" Mr. Dean asked them.
"Luckily, we were getting out of school and that's when we got the text from Kieran. We all ran to see what was going on." Simon told him as he took some deep breaths.
"Thank you. You boys did a great job. You see me and my ex wife go way back. Jordan, have you told them?" Mr. Dean asked his son.
"Kinda. But I'm pretty sure Jalin has told them." Jordan said as he sighed.
Mr. Dean nodded. He then looked up as he saw the hospital. "We're here boys." Mr. Dean said as he found a parking spot. Some cars were there.
Everyone got out as they all sighed & took deep breaths. Simon looked at his friends as he held onto Taiga's hand. Taiga smiled & looked at him.
"It'll be alright babe. I'm willing to hear Jaxon's side of the story." Taiga told him as he smiled.
"A-Actually can we…..all hold hands please? I'm sorry. I'm having major anxiety and hospitals give me so many weird vibes." Simon suggested.
The Rainbow Buddies looked at him as they all nodded & agreed. They all held hands. Simon smiled as he tapped on Kieran's shoulder. Kieran turned as he saw them all holding hands.
"I-I know you're taken, but would you like to hold our hand? I'm having major anxiety…." Simon said to him as he tried to hold back his tears.
Kieran smiled a bit as he did so. Then they all followed Jordan & Mr. Dean into the hospital. Simon feels so relaxed & calm. When they walked in. It was very quiet. Simon looked around as he remembered what Jalin told them in the group chat.
"My mom is here but she's having lunch in the lobby." Simon closed his eyes as he remembered the text. He then looked to his left as he did saw the lobby but he didn't see Ms. Dean in the dining room. Simon looked around. He then realized that his friends all stopped holding hands.
"Alright boys, Jalin is in room 'one five eight' So top floor. But real quick, is anyone here afraid of the elevator?" Mr. Dean asked them.
The Rainbow Buddies all shook their heads as they gave him the thumbs up. Mr. Dean smiled as he walked to the elevator. He pressed the button as it opened. They all walked in as Jordan pressed the 'up' button. The elevator door closed as they were all heading up.
Simon checked his phone as he texted Jalin.
"I didn't see your mom in the dining room." Simon privately texted Jalin.
"She's in the restroom now. She won't leave me alone." Jalin replied back as she used the roll eye emoji.
Simon gasped. He held onto Taiga's hand really right. As Taiga bit his lips. He then got close to Simon's ear.
"N-Not so tight babe. We're-" Taiga looked at the elevator door as it opened.
"Alright, so it should be a few blocks down." Mr. Dean said as he & the Rainbow Buddies all walked out to find Jalin's room.
Jordan looked at each door number. "We're getting close, dad." Jordan told him as he smiled.
"Ah good. I can't wait to see my- Huh?" Mr. Dean stopped as he saw a familiar lady coming out of the restroom. She looked up as she gasped.
"Braxton!?" Brooke said as she stepped back.
"Brooke!" Braxton said as he stepped back also.
Simon rolled his eyes back as he fainted. Taiga gasped as he caught him. Everyone else helped fanned him.
Jordan got in between his parents. "Stop. We are not doing this at the hospital. Mom, what are you doing here?" Jordan asked his mom.
"I could ask y'all the same thing. I'm just here to check on Jalin. She's badly injured." Brooke said as she folded her arms.
"Mostly because you attacked her last night for no damn reason. Did you not?" Jordan said to his mom. Still very angry at her.
"Why is my ex husband here, Jordan?" Brooke asked her son.
"I'm here to see Jalin. You should be in jail for attacking them last night. Have you lost your mind, Brooke? Now will you excuse me? I'm going to see my daughter. You stay out here and… just stay out of my way." Braxton said as he walked off.
Brooke looked at the Rainbow Buddies as they looked away. Simon was awake as he gave Ms. Dean a glare. Brooke sighed as she sat down. Mr. Dean found the room as he smiled & knocked. Jalin looked over as she paused the TV.
"It's open mom. I thought I told you that." Jalin said as she sighed.
Mr. Dean walked in as he smiled. "It's not 'mom' this time. It's 'dad.'" Mr. Dean said as he smiled at Jalin.
Jalin gasped as she teared up. "Daddy?! Oh my gosh! This is a great surprise!" Jalin said as she held out their arms.
Mr. Dean kneeled as he hugged his daughter. "My goodness. You've grown so much. No wonder why you wanna video call me. You look…." Mr. Dean looked at Jalin as he frowned.
"I made my cornrows come loose. So that's on me. Don't worry." Jalin said as she smiled.
"I'm so sorry. If I never have left you and Jordan with your mom, you two would've been in a healthy household with me." Mr. Dean said as he sniffled.
"Daddy, it's okay….mom is just being mom." Jalin said as she gave him some tissue.
Mr. Dean took it as he blew his nose & wiped his eyes. He then sat on the chair as he scooted close to them. "May you tell me, what happened?" Mr. Dean asked his daughter.
Jalin explained everything. Not knowing that their boyfriend, Kieran was by the door listening. He sighed as he slouched down. Still feeling upset. Mr. Dean nodded.
"Jalin, is there anything you wanna do?" Mr. Dean asked them.
"Daddy, I've been thinking since I got here, but I wanna live with you. I don't feel safe around my mom no more. She freaks out that I have a boyfriend and his friends are all gay. And dating each other. Yet not to mention she has a problem with it. You're way more accepting than she is." Jalin said to their dad.
"Honey, you do realize that I left this state because it caused me so many bad memories between me and your mom. If you wanna live with me, then you'll be living with me in a different state." Mr. Dean told them.
Jalin gasped as they teared up. "Dad, no! I can't….I can't leave my boyfriend and my friends here. I just met them at 'Camp Buddy' and this year they're having girls and I'm planning to go back there for the Summer…." Jalin began to cry.
Now this is a really hard decision for them to make. They wanna be safe & away from their mom. But they don't wanna leave Kieran & the Rainbow Buddies behind. Mr. Dean looked at them.
"Who's your boyfriend? May I bring him in?" Mr. Dean asked them.
Jalin nodded. "He has black hair and golden eyes. His name is Kieran." Jalin explained to their dad.
Mr. Dean stood up as he opened the door. Kieran gasped as he hurriedly stood up & panted. "S-Sorry sir! I wasn't listening, I swear." Kieran said as he began to sweat.
Jalin looked over as she giggled, "Get in here, sweetie." Jalin said as she smiled at him.
Mr. Dean moved over as he smiled at them. "You two go right ahead and talk. I'll be back." Mr. Dean said as he closed the door & walked off.
Kieran sat next to Jalin as he held onto their hand. "Hey babe, how are you feeling?" Kieran asked them.
"Better. They gave me painkillers, bandages, and muscle rub cream. I can get out on Saturday. But Kieran…..I now have a decision to make…I can either live with my mom…..or move in with my dad…." Jalin said as she sighed.
Kieran nodded as he waited for what else they're going to say.
"But my dad lives in a different state. If I'm going to live with him then it'll be in that state…" Jalin said as they cried.
Kieran gasped as he hugged Jalin. He cried also. "But babe, we just started dating. If you move then we'll be in a long distance." Kieran explained to Jalin.
"I know…..and I wanna go to Camp Buddy this year as they're allowing girls there for one year. I don't wanna leave y'all behind…" Jalin said as she sniffled.
Kieran cried. They both don't know what to say anymore. Mr. Dean was talking to his ex wife.
"You broke their shoulders and sprained their ankle. How crazy are you, Brooke? Just for once, let Jalin be happy. Let Jalin do what they wanna do. Yeah they're still living with you under the same roof, but they're an adult now. They can do whatever they want. As long as it's not illegal of course." Braxton told his ex wife.
Brooke sighed, finally had given up. "Okay I understand. And I respect their decision if they wanna live with you." Brooke said a little too loud.
Simon heard as he gasped. He looked at his friends. They didn't seem to hear. Simon stood up as he went to them.
"Babe, wait. It's almost our turn to see Jaxon." Taiga called out to his lover.
Simon stopped as he took some deep breaths. Braxton & Brooke both looked at Simon.
"Great. One of them heard you, Brooke." Mr. Dean said to her as he walked up to Simon.
Simon cried as Mr. Dean hugged him. The Rainbow Buddies all tilted their heads as they have no idea what's going on. Kieran came out of the room as his eyes were filled with tears. Taiga gasped as he got up & hugged him.
"Kieran, what happened? Did you two break up?" Taiga asked his ex.
"No….but Jalin is thinking about living with their dad…but in a different state." Kieran explained to Taiga.
Taiga gasped and then saw Mr. Dean, Ms. Dean, & Simon walking up to them.
"So, I'm guessing you all heard huh? I'm sorry folks. But this is Jalin's decision. I want them safe. Jordan." Mr. Dean looked at his son.
"Dad, to be honest, I actually wanna live with you but I can't leave my college just yet. I have one more year to go." Jordan told him as he sighed.
Mr. Dean nodded. Jalin heard them outside as she sighed. Crying again. She doesn't know what to do. She doesn't wanna leave them all behind. Especially their two girl friends. Brooke stayed quiet. Everyone else cried as they all stayed quiet. They all nearly spent all day at the hospital as they ate in the lobby. Mr. Dean & Brooke paid. Brooke headed home all by herself as Jordan wanted to stay at the hotel with their dad. Mr. Dean took the Rainbow Buddies home as Mr. Dean & Jordan drove to the hotel.
Jalin has 1 more day to stay at the hospital. their shoulders were healed but their ankle has to go for another week. She texted Kieran as they two were still very much heart broken & stressed out. Jalin laid back down as they cried themselves to sleep. Mr. Dean will come back to pick them up in the afternoon.
Poor Jalin & Kieran. My newest lovebirds have already come to an end. Pooey. :(
BUT we'll see in the next chapter if Jalin has made up their mind & see if they'll be with Kieran still! :D
