Chapter 5: A Day Out with Dad. Karma's Lurk
Jalin had woken up as she got out of the bed & headed to the restroom to get dressed. Their dad was on their way to pick them up from the hospital. He had Kieran with him as the two bonded just great.
"So son, what's your name again? And where are you from?" Mr. Dean asked him as he chuckled.
"My name is Kieran Moreno. I'm from the Philippines." Kieran told Mr. Dean as he smiled at him.
"Ah. Nice. I would love to visit there. I would take Jordan and Jalin too." Mr. Dean told Kieran as he smiled.
"R-Really? I mean I don't think I'm able to go back to 'Camp Buddy' this year, but if y'all want to, we can visit there in the Summer." Kieran told him as he smiled at him.
"We'll see son. Hey also, what is 'Camp Buddy' about? Ever since I've met y'all, Jalin's been talking about it non stop. Even though it's an all boys camp." Mr. Dean asked Kieran.
Kieran gulped. He doesn't know where to start or what to tell him. He isn't sure if he can return back after what he did last year. But he looked up when he saw that they had arrived at the hospital. Mr. Dean parked.
"Let's go get them. I'm going to take y'all to eat." Mr. Dean said as he chuckled.
Kieran smiled as he & Mr. Dean got out of the car. He looked around. The parking lot is so empty. & Ms. Dean hasn't shown up. Kieran took some deep breaths he & Mr. Dean walked into the hospital. Jalin was back in their room, just sitting down & watching TV. She looked at their phone as Kieran texted them.
"Hey love.~ We're on our way up.~ I can't wait to see you, my beautiful honey bug.~" Kieran sent the text using as many heart emojis as possible.
"You're with my dad, babe?! OMG! YES! I don't want my mom to come here because I just knew that she'll force me to come home with her. Ehhh. I'll be out in the hallway, for you two. My sweetie pie.~" Jalin sent the text also using heart emojis.
Jalin then turned off the TV as she stood out in the hallway. She sighed. Jalin looked over hearing the elevator door opening. She gasped when she saw their dad & Kieran stepped out. Kieran looked over as he gasped seeing his lover all better. She's not wearing that hospital gown. The bandages are still on their shoulders but they're covered by their shirt. The bandages are still on their ankle but it's feeling much better now. Jalin & Kieran ran up to each other as they hugged each other.
"Oh my goodness. You look a lot better than ever, sweetie.~ I'm glad you're doing so much better.~" Kieran said to them as he hugged them tightly.
"Thank you dear. I'm doing okay…but I cried so hard last night. I'm sorry y'all Rainbow Buddies have heard last night. This is a hard decision to make." Jalin said as she sighed.
"Don't worry honey. We'll make it work. Let's go. I'm taking you two out to eat. I miss eating at some restaurants here." Mr. Dean told them as he smiled.
The two smiled as they held hands & followed Mr. Dean back to the van. They both sat in the back as Mr. Dean sat in the front & drove off.
"Hey, what kind of music do you two like? I've been listening to 'Soul' and 'Jazz' for a long time now and I think I'm ready to hear some new music." Mr. Dean asked them as he smiled.
Both Jalin & Kieran looked at each other as they blushed.
"Umm, dad, we're addicted to 'hyperpop' lately. Our friend from 'Camp Buddy' had us listen to it and we've been listening to the songs non stop." Jalin said as she giggled.
"'Hyperpop'? I think I wanna listen to some.~ Here type it down on my phone and see if I like it or not.~" Mr. Dean said to them as he handed Jalin his phone.
Jalin gasped as she did so. She then looked at Kieran.
"Dude, one of the songs talks about busting a nut into someone's eyes, dancing with a kitchen knife, and a beautiful suicide. Are you sure you want your dad to listen to something like that?" Kieran whispered into Jalin's ear.
"Hey, if he freaks out and crashes the van, that's on him. He asked. There's no turning back, love.~" Jalin said to him as she grinned & clicked on the playlist.
Kieran blushed. The song 'Freak show' is at the end of the playlist, but knowing how fast the playlist goes it might get to it before they'll find a restaurant to eat.
Crisis Skunk: "Hey Rainbow Buddies, guess what~?"
Curious Swan: "Jalin! :D How you feeling? We're sorry we caused the hospital to flood with our 'Rainbow Tears' But we all video called each other last night & we respect your decision. We do want you safe & happy. So you can heal from the trauma that your mom gave you."
Crisis Skunk: "Thank you. But I'm still deciding, but I got better news. 1. I'm out of the hospital. 2. My dad is driving us to a restaurant to eat. & 3. We got him listening to 'hyperpop'! :D We're on 'Masquerade'!" Jalin sent the text as she & Kieran were trying to hold in their laugh.
Sexii Wolfboy: "Y'all are going to cause these older adults to have a heart attack once they listen to the lyrics very closely!" Yoicihi said as he sent skull emojis with a coffin emoji at the end.
Chef Raccoon: "Yeah! Remember the song 'freak show'? Thanks a lot Curious Swan, I've been listening to that song, non stop.~"
Everyone sent heart & blushing emojis.
Curious Swan: "Hey Jalin, who's 'we' by the way?"
Crisis Skunk: "Me, Prince Lion. :)"
Beetle Senpai: "Awww. We're so glad you're feeling so much better, Jaxon. Can we video call you two after you hang out with your dad?" Natsumi asked them.
Crisis Skunk: "Yes, after we get done hanging out with my dad, Natsumi. :)"
Mr. Dean stopped at a restaurant that wasn't so full. They were on 'Notice' By 'Moe Shop & Torenia'. Mr. Dean grabbed his phone as he paused the video.
"You know, they sound very interesting. Not to used to the dark lyrics just yet, but I'll get used to it real soon." Mr. Dean said as he chuckled.
Both Kieran & Jalin smiled as they two held hands & they walked inside. A waitress came up to them as she smiled at them. Mr. Dean told her, 'table for three.' & requested a booth. The waitress smiled as she walked them over to a booth. Mr. Dean sat across from Jalin & Kieran as they two sat next to each other. Jalin looked down at their phone as the Rainbow Buddies were still sending each other messages.
Crisis Skunk: "Ayo, we're about to eat something. We'll message y'all when we're done. :)" Jalin sent the text as she put their phone away & looked at the menu.
"So are you two getting breakfast or lunch?" Mr. Dean asked them.
"I'm getting lunch, sir. I mean it's noon so I always find it weird to eat breakfast around noon time." Kieran said as he chuckled.
Jalin giggled at his comment as she also said 'lunch.' She looked at the menu some more as she knew what drink she wanted.
"I'm going to order lunch too. Haha, sorry it took a while though. I had to find your house. I tried asking Jordan if he would like to come with us, but he turned down my request." Mr. Dean said to Jalin.
"Yeah, dad. He's very much stressed out about the whole thing right now. Also babe, have you heard from Aiden? Jordan told me that he hasn't been texting mom lately." Jalin asked Kieran.
"I can ask Hiro since you know they are best buddies ever." Kieran said to them as he smiled.
Jalin nodded as she looked up seeing the same waitress coming to their booth. She asked them what drinks they would like to have. They all gave her what they wanted as she wrote them down. She then asked them if they were ready to order. Mr. Dean another five minutes as the waitress smiled & walked off.
"So, how did your mom meet this dude?" Mr. Dean asked Jalin.
"I was at my friend Yoichi's house a few weeks ago, then mom being mom wanted me home around two PM, and Aiden suggested that he'll take me home. So I told him 'okay' then by the time it was two O'clock, he drove me home. Mom was outside waiting for me as she was giving me a glare. I went inside to avoid her lecture. Then she walked up to Aiden, and next thing you know, the two began flirting with each other." Jalin said as she rolled their eyes.
Mr. Dean shook his head. "And let me guess, they exchanged numbers and went out onto many dates?" Mr. Dean asked Jalin.
"Oh hell yeah dad. And then they announced that they got engaged. It's too soon. Plus I know Aiden from 'Camp Buddy'." Jalin said as she sighed.
Mr. Dean raised an eyebrow. Then he looked at the waitress as she was once again at their booth. They all told her what they would like to have. She wrote them down as she walked off. Mr. Dean shook his head.
"What does Mr. Aiden do at 'Camp Buddy'?" Mr. Dean asked Jalin & Kieran.
"He cooks, cleans, and he's our scoutmaster since we got three. We might have four this year. If I can go back." Kieran explained to Mr. Dean as he smiled a bit.
"And Jalin, you don't wanna call him 'dad' because it'll be too weird?" Mr. Dean asked them.
"Yeah. I told them too but Aiden said 'that's okay. You can call me 'Aiden still.' like that doesn't help." Jalin vented as she sighed.
Mr. Dean nodded. "Yeah. That's like having a teacher marrying one of your parents. It's too weird to me, but at the end of the day that's their business." Mr. Dean told them as he sighed.
"Also, daddy. What happened between you and the girl you were with?" Jalin asked him.
"We broke up. Since we both had different jobs, and our schedules were unbalanced that we barely spent time with each other. So we called it quits. But I'm okay dear. I have told her so much about you and Jordan and she thinks you two sound amazing and badass." Mr. Dean told them as he smiled.
Jalin gasped & smiled back. "Awww, daddy!"
Kieran smiled as he was loving to hear this type of family story.
"So, 'Camp Buddy'? Are you two going back this year?" Mr. Dean asked them.
"I want to. Because they're adding girls this year. Only for one year though as one of the scoutmasters is worried how the girls will be with the boys." Jalin said as she giggled.
"I want to also. But I have to see if they'll let me in this year." Kieran finally told him as he sighed.
"Oh? What happened son?" Mr. Dean asked him as he looked at Kieran in concern.
"Erm….I've made tons of mistakes and broke many buddy rules." Kieran said as he sighed.
"Ah. That happens you know? If you have learned from them, I'm sure they'll let you back in this year. You'll be a whole different person by then." Mr. Dean told him as he smiled.
Kieran smiled back as he looked up seeing the waitress giving them their lunch. They all told her 'Thank you' as she smiled at them. She then asked if they needed anything else.
"Extra napkins please." Mr. Dean told her as she smiled.
The waitress smiled as she walked off again. Mr. Dean then looked at Jalin. Jalin smiled at Kieran & ate their lunch. They noticed that their dad was looking at them.
"What's up dad? Your lunch taste weird or something?" Jalin asked their dad.
"Oh no no dear, it's fine. But….I know you're genderfluid but how did you get into 'Camp Buddy'?" Mr. Dean asked them.
"I snuck in when the camp started on the first day of Summer. I dressed up as a boy, went by the name 'Jaxon Dean' and yeah." Jalin explained to their dad.
"Did y'all go swimming or anything? Because going to a camp means going swimming too." Mr. Dean asked as he smiled.
"Yes. And if you wanna know how I covered my chest while we were playing volleyball. One of the scouts actually knew I was a girl but she didn't say anything. Plus her dad is scary. Well 'was' pretty sure he's a chill man now, don't you think so, love?" Jalin asked Kieran.
"I mean he got remarried and all. So I'm sure that has definitely changed him, sweetie." Kieran said to them as he smiled.
Mr. Dean smiled back as he wiped his mouth with a napkin. "Well you know what, since you two wanna go back to 'Camp Buddy' this Summer, then…..how about I move here but I'll live in a different city though. Jalin that means you can stay with me." Mr. Dean told them as he smiled.
Both Jalin & Kieran gasped.
"Daddy, you would do that? Are you sure though? What about mom?" Jalin asked in concern.
"Since she physically assaulted you, we can put a restraining order on her. She'll be able to have no contact with us face to face, through phone, social media, you know? You two seemed to be so attached to 'Camp Buddy' and y'all made new friends there. I can't take that away from you. Nobody can." Mr. Dean told them as he smiled.
"A-Actually sir, I was friends with three of them. Even dated one of them, but we broke up due to a mistake I made. But he forgave me and now we're like the best bros ever." Kieran told him as he smiled.
"Ah that's good then! But Jalin I can definitely do that. I can leave back to Texas, sell my house, pack up my things and move back here so you and Jordan, if he wants too, can live with me. He can finish up college, you can still work at your job, and go back to 'Camp Buddy' this Summer." Mr. Dean told them as he smiled.
The two smiled really big as they nodded & agreed.
"But should I tell mom or no?" Jalin asked their dad.
"I think you should since she was there yesterday wanting to know your decision. But don't tell her about the 'restraining order' thing. I'm sure that'll freak her out so damn bad, she'll probably have a heart attack." Mr. Dead said as he chuckled.
Both Jalin & Kieran chuckled also. They all got done eating their lunch as they were now drinking their sodas. The waitress came back with their check as Mr. Dean paid. Then they all stood up.
"Erm, be right back. Gotta use the restroom. Haha." Jalin said as she walked into the restroom.
Kieran & Mr. Dean headed outside as they waited for Jalin.
"Son, whatever you're doing to my daughter, keep making them happy. They never dated before but for some reason they're an expert when it comes to boys. Mostly because their two friends who are girls have always dated and Jalin was there to give them advice." Mr. Dean smiled at Kieran.
"Thank you sir. So are you taking them back to their house?" Kieran asked him as he was worried.
"Yes. Their mom is calling me, so let me take this call real quick." Mr. Dean said as he answered his phone.
Kieran sighed, but he smiled when he saw Jalin coming out of the restaurant. They both hugged each other.
"If Aiden's at my house, I can ask him if you can come back to 'Camp Buddy' this year. I would love to see you there.~" Jalin said as she smiled.
"I would love that, babe. We can hang out more often too.~" Kieran said as he grinned.
"You know it, love.~" Jalin said as she giggled.
Mr. Dean got off the phone with his ex wife as he got into the van. "Let's get you two home. Your mom is out and about, at this moment, honey. You should be safe from her for a few hours." Mr. Dean told Jalin.
"Thanks daddy. I want Kieran to come over but mom will just freak out again." Jalin said as she walked into the van with Kieran.
"I'll video call you, babe. I think you two have suffered enough." Kieran told them as he smiled.
Jalin smiled back as Mr. Dean handed back his phone to them as Jalin went back to the 'hyperpop' playlist. Jalin & Kieran just vibe to the music as they had their heads laid on each other. Mr. Dean also vibe to the music as he didn't really mind the playlist no more. When he dropped off Kieran at his home, they both waved at him. Kieran waved back as he blew a kiss to Jalin. Jalin did the same as she smiled. Then Mr. Dean drove to Jalin's home.
"Thanks daddy. I'll call you, but I really do wanna live with you. You took care of me and paid more attention to me than mom did. Her focus was all on Jordan." Jalin said as she sighed.
"I know dear. I'll be texting you for my moving updates. Texas is fine and all but I do miss this place a little more. I'll text you and Jordan alright?" Mr. Dean said as he hugged Jalin.
Jalin hugged him back as she got out of the van & headed inside. The house was quiet. The front door was fixed as it was brand new. Jalin closed their eyes as they were having a small panic attack but they ran to their room. They closed the door as they sighed. They flopped onto their bed & texted Jordan.
"Hey bro. I'm home. Dad took me & Kieran out to eat." Jalin said to him as she sighed.
"Nice! I'm at a friend's house. Mom is still bothering Aiden. I think he's not speaking to her." Jordan replied to Jalin.
"I mean, that's what she gets for judging his sexuality. So if he's giving her the silent treatment then that means, they broke up. But that's Karma. ;)" Jalin said as she laughed.
"Damn. You're right though. But can you maybe ask your friends if he can just talk to her? Because once she comes home she might go ballistic again." Jordan asked Jalin as he sent the text.
"On it! Thanks bro. & I'll be fine. I'll be in my room till mom gets us dinner or something." Jalin said as she went to the group chat.
Crisis Skunk: "Hey Chef Raccoon, can I ask you something? Maybe in private though? :)" Jalin messaged Hiro.
Chef Raccoon: "Of course! How was the restaurant~?" Hiro asked them.
Crisis Skunk: "It was great~! Messaging you right now in private."
Hiro sent a smiley emoji as his friends saw. Jalin then messaged Hiro privately.
"Hey, sorry to bother you. But have you heard from Aiden? I'm back at my mom's house & my brother Jordan is at a friend's house. My dad is going to be busy today." Jalin sent the text to Hiro.
"Bro Aiden is very hurt from what your mom said. He came by to wolfboy's house earlier and vented to his parents & sister. He broke down crying. He then told them that you & your brother were having a hard time with your mom. I didn't tell them anything else as I figured it's too personal for you." Hiro said as he sighed.
"Thank you. You & Keitaro were at Yoichi's house today?" Jalin asked their friend.
"Yes. We always hang out on the weekends as we get bored being at our homes. My mom hangs out with Hunter's mom a lot more so yeah…haha." Hiro sent crying laughing emojis.
Jalin smiled. "Is bro Aiden still there? I wish to have him over so I can talk to him. My mom is out today. Finally." Jalin said to Hiro.
"Sure! He's still here & we're just finishing up 'Cars' on Disney plus. But I'll let him know." Hiro said as he used the smile emoji.
"Thanks so much!" Jalin sent the message as she laid on their back. Their shoulders were feeling much better so Jalin decided to take a quick shower.
Hiro let Aiden know as Aiden nodded. The movie was over as Aiden stood up.
"Where you going, buttcheeks?" Yoichi asked Aiden.
"I'm going to check up on Jaxon real quick. I'll be back. Go ahead and start another movie. Just text me what it is. I might have memorized it.~" Aiden said as he smiled & walked out. He got into his car as he drove back to Jalin's home.
"Hey Jaxon, Bro Aiden is on his way to your home now." Hiro sent the text to Jalin as Jalin was taking their bath.
Aiden was a few miles away as he saw another car behind him. Aiden gulped. He hopes it's not Jalin's mom. When Aiden parked the car next to him did too, It was Jordan who came out of his car. Aiden sighed with relief as he got out too.
"Hey bro. My mom is out because I told her to go calm her nerves. But you can come in." Jordan told him as he smiled.
"Thanks. But I do wanna talk to both of you. Is that okay?" Aiden asked Jordan.
"Of course, come on in." Jordan told him as he unlocked the door & the two walked inside.
Jalin was now done with their bath as they dried off & put lotion all over their body. They changed back into their comfy clothes. Jalin saw two figures downstairs as she went downstairs.
"Hey you two. So what's up?" Jalin asked them as she raised an eyebrow.
"This is very silly, but I'm going to-" Aiden stopped when he heard a car slam.
Jordan looked outside of the window as he gasped. "It's mom!" Jordan warned Jalin.
Jalin was going to run back upstairs but it was too late. Brooke had already walked in. She looked at them as she tilted her head.
"What's going on? Why are you two back here?" Brooke asked her kids.
Both Jordan & Jalin rolled their eyes. Aiden sighed as he walked up to Brooke. He held onto her hands as he sighed.
"I'm sorry Brooke, but I'm breaking up with you. If you can't accept my sexuality, be there for your children, hell especially Jalin, then this isn't going to work out between us. I heard what you did to Jalin. That's really screwed up bruh." Aiden told Brooke.
Brooke gasped as she stepped back. "You're breaking up with me? I made a mistake!" Brook said to Aiden.
"Judging someone for their sexuality, shaming your daughter for having a boyfriend and being friends with boys, and then attacking your daughter aren't mistakes. I'm sorry, but this isn't going to work out. Please lose my number and don't ever contact me." Aiden said as he walked out of their home.
Brooke's heart was broken & shattered. She didn't bother looking back at Aiden walking out of their home. She then looked at her kids.
"Sorry mom, but that was karma. I'm going upstairs. I'm very much traumatized by you." Jalin said as she headed back to their room.
Brooke then looked at Jordan. Jordan shrugged "Mom, I love you. But your attitude towards Jalin is messed up. That's your daughter. You've been treating them like shit since she got older. I hate to say this but I think I'm going to live with dad. After college, I'm out of here." Jordan said as he ran to his room.
Brooke was now all alone. She froze as she didn't know what to say. Her kids don't hate her, but they're afraid of her. She sat down on the couch, as she took out her laptop & did some research on something.
I think the last chapter might have a happy ending. :)
