Bella was dry by the time they made it back to Dauntless. Eric had to check in with Four and the others but Bella went straight to Max's office. She closed the door behind her as she entered.

Max looked up at her arrival. "How was it?"

Bella shrugged. "They're just Divergent. Doesn't matter. Now. Eric seems to be normal to me. Same asshole he always is." She said and stood, her hands behind her back. It was a formal way of standing in Dauntless.

Max nodded. "I figured. Jeanine just wanted to make sure he was still in the right mental space for killing so many people. How was your first time?"

"Max, cut it with the bullshit." Bella said.

Max raised a brow. "You do realize I am head of Dauntless right?"

"I do know that." Bella said and then shifted her stance. It was more informal now. "I was a recruit yesterday and the day before that you had me fight the other 9 recruits in the top 10. I'm not stupid Max. You want something from me."

Max smirked a little. "You're smart." He said with a nod. "Has Eric told you anything about what the mission is?"

"Dauntless's mission? Or Jeanine Matthew's mission?" Bella asked.

"Both."

"As Dauntless we protect the faction system. We're a police force. Jeanine's mission is killing Divergents. I have to say I share the same sentiment. Divergents threaten the faction system, as Dauntless, it is my mission to take care of that." Bella said, her tone was emotionless.

Max nodded. "You are the epitome of Dauntless. I haven't met someone this heartless as you before… except myself. I see a lot of myself in you." He said. "You're the best and you're the best for a reason."

"I like to believe that you're never the best. Only the best version of yourself at that time. You can always be better." Bella said, her tone flat.

Max make a hmph sound, like he found that amusing. "I know there are more Divergents hiding in Dauntless. Eric… he's losing his touch. I think that he's on autopilot. Jeanine thinks highly of him, though Eric is the take orders and just do whatever. You however. You will dig deep. You will find the Divergent hiding here in Dauntless. Start with the younger ones. We want to stop them before they get too much knowledge." Max said and stood, opening the drawer on his desk and pulling out a device of some sort and handed it to Bella.

Bella took it and looked it over. "And this is supposed to be…"

"It's how we determine who is Divergent." Max said. "It analyzes the brain waves of children. It's not set up to work on adults yet, but they're working on it in Erudite." He explained.

Bella nodded. "That makes my job easier." She said and then clipped it to her belt and looked back at Max. "I want you to know, that I won't bullshit you. I will tell you like it is. I have little fear Max. You're not one of them."

Max smirked. "You're ballsy too. I have to admit… I find your bluntness… refreshing."

Bella raised a brow. "I can be so much more Max."

"You don't call me sir."

Bella actually laughed at this. "Just because you have more stripes than me, doesn't mean you automatically earn that title." She said, her dominance bleeding through. "I'm coming for your job Max. Don't make the mistake and think that I'm submissive."

Max smiled. "No. You're anything but submissive." He said and stepped closer to her. "I find that refreshing as well."

"You need someone to remind you that you're nothing? Come now Max, I'm sure you can tell yourself those same things looking in the mirror." Bella poked.

Max still found her amusing, his eyes lighting up. "Oh, I'm not a nobody Bella."

"I didn't say you weren't someone Max, I said you were nothing. You said I'm the epitome of Dauntless. I'm sure you can relate to someone of my caliber then. It's nice to be a role model for someone." Bella said, her tone taking on a more domineering tone.

Max was clearly excited by this. "You are inspiring." He said and stepped closer, but Bella didn't back down. He got closer to her, his face close to hers. "You really are Dauntless."

Bella leaned in, her mouth close to his ear. "It's why I'm here Max." Her hot breath hitting his neck.

Max closed his eyes, inhaling her scent. "You are… something…"

Bella leaned back and stared into his dark eyes, their bodies were close enough to where if he took a deep breath, he would touch her. "I strive to be everything… Max."

"Everything?"

"I'm not just someone." Bella returned.

Max smiled. "I suspect that you're going to put me in my place more than once, aren't you."

"Good boy." Bella said, her lips curved. "You're understanding what I'm saying." She reached her hand up and smacked his cheek. It was stronger than a pat, but less than a slap. "If you need me…" She drifted off and she turned, her back to him. She heard him inhale again and she smiled. She walked out of his office, leaving him there with probably the hardest cock he's ever felt in a long time.

Bella went to the bazaar. She needed new ink and something stronger than a beer. Max had just handed over the device that she had guessed they had. She had gotten under Max's skin in the way she knew she needed. Eric might not be thrilled, but she was going to get more information out of him than Eric would ever get out of him. She opened the door to Tori's shop and she walked in. Tori was just rearranging the stencils when she walked in.

Tori smiled at Bella. "Hey you, I-" She cut off when she saw Bella's sleeve on her jacket and the gear she had on her waist. "What the fuck happened?"

"Leadership." Bella said and sat down after taking off her jacket. "I need ink. It's been too long."

"Wait a damn minute. We're going to talk about what led to this." Tori said motioning to Bella and what she was wearing.

Bella smiled. "I am top on the board. Lukas and me were made leadership yesterday. We will be assisting in running the training exercises in round two." She explained.

Tori shook her head. "That's a first. They never do that."

"Well, they're desperate." Bella said. "Anyways. Ink. I was thinking large, but in the kanji like you did my Divergent one." She said.

"What do you want it to say?" Tori asked.

Bella thought about it. "Never Give Up. Make it on my other side. The side I got stabbed. Big." She instructed and she pulled her shirt off and her bra, sitting there topless in Tori's chair.

Tori smiled, getting a stencil prepared. She added some flare to the words that would trail over Bella's side starting at the side of her breast and went to her hip. The dark lettering would look bold on her milky skin. She was adding some cherry blossoms in there and giving it a 3D effect. She showed Bella the stencil.

"It's amazing." Bella said, admiring Tori's talent. She stenciled it on Bella's side and Bella lay on her side on the chair that transformed into a table and Tori brought the tattoo laser over.

Bella closed her eyes, feeling right at ease with the pain that came with getting the tattoo. When it was done she stood, looking in the mirror. There was a knock on the door. Tori sighed and went to look and it was just Lukas, so she let her inside, shutting the door behind.

"I figured I'd find you here." Lukas said, admiring the new ink. Bella was still topless, but he didn't ogle.

Bella smiled. "Yeah. Just needed to feel free for a moment. MY schedule just got tighter." She said.

Lukas grabbed her sports bra and shirt from the ground and walked it over to her. "Well, tonight is my last night of semi freedom before we split the group." He said and leaned in and kissed her softly for show.

Bella took the sports bra and pulled it on. "Splitting the group?"

Tori frowned. "That's new too." She said, crossing her arms.

Lukas nodded. "Yeah, Max announced it earlier during morning training."

Bella sighed. "Okay. Let's get a drink and talk about this." She said and then she paused and kissed Tori's cheek. "Thank you." She said and Tori nodded, watching Bella and Lukas leave on Leadership talk.

Lukas sat at the bar, ordering bourbon for both him and Bella. They needed something heavier tonight. "Jasper will find time to make it later. Four is running more drills."

"Still?" Bella asked. "Usually they cut them loose."

"Second round bullshit." Lukas said. "So. How was your experience today? You were gone all day. Even Eric came back briefly."

Bella nodded. "I was with Max." She said and handed him the device that Max gave her. "This. This is the key." She said. "I'll explain more later. Too many ears." She said.

Lukas turned it over in his hands and nodded. "Looks Erudite."

"That's because it is." She said and took it and clipped it back on her belt.

Lukas shook her head. "Something is up."

"Oh yeah. It's major." Bella said. "Just know that I'm not going to be very liked soon." She said and then nodded to Jasper when he approached. He looked a little distressed. "What's wrong?" She instantly asked.

Jasper blew out a breath. "I did not tell her." He started.

"Tell who what?"

"Al cracked. He told Tris about being you know what, and that he's been keeping it a secret." Jasper said quickly and tapped the bar.

Bella sighed. "Fuck."

"Yeah. Fuck is right." Jasper said and the bartender brought him a drink. "So. This leadership thing. It's sticking?"

Bella nodded. "Yeah. So, Max is up to some stuff. I'm under his skin right now. I give it three days before I get more information out of him." She said and knocked her drink back.

Jasper raised a brow. "Do I even want to know?"

"Probably not."

"Please do not tell me you're going to sleep with him." Lukas groaned.

Bella snorted. "Don't say it like that. No, but it's close enough that it's got Eric pissed."

"I don't blame him." Jasper said and motioned to the bartender to just bring over the bottle of bourbon.

Lukas ran a hand over his hair that was growing out some. He thought about buzzing it again, but he decided to keep the length for a bit. It wasn't crazy long. Just about an inch long now on his head. It was longer than he's ever had it before. "Okay, so they're going to split the groups. I assume-"

Bella palm pilot beeped, but Lukas's was silent. She pulled it from her hip. "It's Max."

"Didn't you just see him?" Jasper asked.

"Like two hours ago. Tats take a while." Bella said. "I gotta go." She said and knocked back another bourbon. "I'm technically off the clock. But who the fuck knows what he needs." She said and stood. "I'll be back. This shouldn't take long. I hope. If it is, I'll shoot you a message." She told Lukas and then patted Jasper on the back and left the bazaar and went back towards Max's office.

Bella didn't even knock, she just opened the door. It was Max, Eric and Four. "Having a party?" She said as she entered.

Max smirked a little and Eric took note at how Max's demeanor changed when Bella was in the room. "Lukas was already informed, I failed to… discuss this earlier. Had other… things on my mind." He said.

Bella raised a brow. "Okay. Stop playing with words and just say it Max. I was winding down for the night. There is a bazaar orgy scheduled soon, so." She said, not blinking.

Four cracked a small smile and Eric tried to remain passive.

Max nodded. "Very well. We're splitting the group. There are 21 on the board. Four and Lukas are taking ten and you and Eric are taking eleven. I don't care how you split it, draw numbers, I don't care. There will be a group expedition tomorrow and then after, it will be dedicated group training in the pit. You will alternate workforce and training. There will be a team against team spar. We're moving the sleeping quarters. Four's group will remain in transfer's quarters and Eric's group will move to the non-transfers sleeping quarters. New firearms trainings will take place. Different weapons and you will introduce them all to wall security." He explained in detail.

Bella nodded. "Got it. Anything else? This could have been a simple message you know." She said, her gaze capturing his, she knew how to address someone with her eyes without speaking. It was one of her domineering gazes.

Max couldn't help his smile. "You're right. That's all. Get back to your… orgy." He said.

Bella nodded and left, not waiting on Four or Eric's dismissal. She made it to the bazaar after only being gone for almost twenty minutes. Lukas and Jasper were in the same spot. "That was pointless."

"What the meeting?" Jasper asked.

"Yeah. Just to tell me what Lukas just told me." Bella said and Lukas handed her a drink. "Thanks." She said and knocked it back.

Jasper knocked his drink back and glanced over for some reason. "Oh shit. Bella, run."

Bella sighed and turned to see Tris heading straight for her. "She looks pissed."

"Oh she is." Jasper said. "Al must have told her more than I thought."

Bella nodded. "Yeah, I can tell." She grumbled. "Fucking Al." She sighed and stood. "I'll handle her." She said and walked over to meet her sister.

"You have got to fucking kidding me." Tris started.

"Not here." Bella said, interrupting her. She led her sister out of the bazaar and towards her new room.

Once they were behind the closed door, Tris tried to slap Bella, but Bella caught her hand and twisted, putting her in a wrist lock. It was very swift, effortless. "Honestly, I didn't think you would try and hit me. That was stupid." Bella said, her voice irritated.

"You lied to me! How could you keep something like this from me! And Al! How could you use him like that."

"First of all, no one is using Al. Be glad that he's made it as far as he has. He came over because what we're doing is far more important. I didn't use him." Bella said curtly. "Second of all, I didn't lie to you. Not once have you asked me about what I am. I kept it from you because it doesn't concern you."

Tris scoffed. "It does concern me. You're supposed to be my sister."

"Right and I'm protecting you. This is not something you want to be tangled up in Tris. It's better for you that you stay out of it."

"How can I stay out of it when Al is so involved? Were you ever going to tell me what you are?"

"No. I never planned on telling you." Bella was honest.

Tris shook her head. "How can I ever trust you with anything?"

"Trust me, don't trust me. I'm your sister. I have done everything to watch out for you. I'm the reason you're above the line and not sitting factionless right now." Bella said. "I don't answer to you Tris. No matter how you spin this in your head to believe that you have been wronged, just remember that you're not the one that is Divergent. You're not the one that is being hunted. Did Al tell you that?"

Tris blinked, taken back by Bella's words. "What?"

"They kill Divergents. That is why Al had to come here. Erudite is designing special devices that outs Divergents. Erudite and Abnegation are the two top factions that are being eradicated right now. Al is safer in Dauntless than he was in Erudite." Bella said as she let Tris's wrist go and walked away from her and then turned. "I don't have time to argue with you about any of this."

Tris shook her head. "We're sisters. You're supposed to tell me things." She insisted.

"Tris. Just because we're sisters, doesn't mean I tell you everything. If I did, you would be hurt."

"What's that's supposed to mean?"

Bella stared her sister down. "I was raped and assaulted multiple times while being here in Dauntless. Edward stabbed me and tried to kill me, because Max thought that I was really Andrew and Natalie's daughter. He didn't know I was adopted. His target, his words, was that it should have been you."

Tris gasped. She had no idea. "This is why you should tell me things."

"Why? For you to what? You can't change it can you? But it doesn't matter Tris, because I'm strong enough to handle it. I don't need you to feel sorry for me. What I need you to do, is listen to me."

Tris shook her head. "What about Lukas. How does he feel about all this?"

"Obviously Al didn't tell you anything. Lukas knows everything about me."

Tris was angry again. "You tell Lukas of all people, but not your sister. Wow. Do you realize how crazy that is?"

"Crazy?" Bella laughed. "You haven't seen crazy yet Tris. Lukas knows about it because he was there after I was attacked by Edward the second time and I killed Edward. Oh yes. That's right. I killed Edward." She said.

Tris shook her head. "How could you kill someone and just walk around like you're okay with it?"

"I'm okay with it because he deserved it Tris. He died because he tried to kill me. I'm here, he's not. This isn't even up for debate. How can you even stand there and think like that?"

"It's like I don't even know you anymore." Tris said. "I guess fucking Lukas really has turned you."

Bella wasn't even surprised at this point at Tris's words. "You know what. Fuck you Tris. Just remember if you talk about Divergents, you're not only hurting your sister, you're hurting Al. Because guess what happens to him if anyone ever finds out about him."

Tris shook her head. "I would never tell anyone. How could you even think that I would?"

"I don't know Tris, maybe by how you're acting right now." Bella said. "And if you have to know, I'm not fucking Lukas. We're just friends."

"Right and I'm supposed to believe that?"

Bella nodded. "Believe it, don't believe it. I don't give a fuck. Now get back to the sleeping quarters and yes, that was an order." She said, staring Tris down.

Tris just shook her head then left Bella's room and stormed off.

Bella stood there, her anger welling up in her. She left her room, going down to the training area and she took out some frustration on the bags, rocking the bag with her roundhouse kick to where it almost hit the ground. When her punches didn't satisfy her she stormed off away from the bag and saw the door to the equipment room. She was going to try lifting weights to cool down but instead of opening the door she threw her fist through the door. She screamed at the door and she pulled her hand back. Her hand wasn't busted up like one would imagine, she got two clean punches through the door. She growled a little then abandoned the door and just went back to the bazaar.

Bella just wanted alcohol at this point. When Lukas and Jasper saw her they frowned. "Don't." She said and just grabbed the bottle of bourbon and tipped it up, drinking long, heavy drinks.

Jasper grabbed the bottle. "Whoa. Hey, whatever it is, it's not worth getting shitfaced for."

"Oh it is." Bella muttered.

Eric arrived, feeling tense, but when he saw Bella, he realized she was having a worse time. "What's wrong?" He asked instantly.

Bella took the bottle back from Jasper and tipped it up.

Jasper sighed. "Tris happened."

"Is Tris okay?" Eric asked.

Lukas was skeptical. "Honestly. I don't know after seeing Bella like this."

Bella gave Jasper back the bottle. "She can go to hell." She said, clearly still pissed.

Eric frowned. "Okay. What happened?"

"Too much to fucking repeat right now." Bella said. "I just want-" The lights went out, the start of orgy hour. "Great." She muttered.

Eric's hand grabbed hers instantly. "Hey, we're here. It's just darkness."

"Easy for you to fucking say." Bella said and took a breath. "Let's just leave. I'm starting to feel the bourbon and I just want to get the fuck out of here."

Eric nodded even if she couldn't see him. "I'll take you back to my room. Jasper, Lukas. Early rise in the morning." He said and he guided Bella away.

Once in Eric's room, Bella turned and latched herself to him. The combination of just anger and the alcohol fueled her.

Eric peeled her off of him. "Wait." He said and she just sighed and walked away from him towards the window in his room. "What the fuck happened Bella?"

"Tris. Al told her about being Divergent, and told her that I was. She came at me. Even tried to hit me." Bella said and ran her hands over her face. The bourbon really was taking it's hold on her and she was getting hot, so she pulled her shirt off.

Eric saw the new ink on her side and it looked like that one actually hurt since it was over her scar from being stabbed. "Bella. We can't control what others think of us."

"She was so fucking accusing. Like Lukas hasn't even done anything to her but help, but she just hates him. Accused me that fucking Lukas has really changed me." Bella said. "I told her that she didn't know what she was talking about. That I wasn't fucking Lukas. That we were just friends."

Eric sighed. "You don't have to give her explanations. I get it. She's your sister."

"She's mad because I didn't tell her about being Divergent. Right, let me just announce that I'm something that Jeanine and Max want to dispose of. That fucking makes sense. Fucking Al. Why Al. Why?" She questioned.

Eric went to her, his hands on her arms as he moved them up and down, rubbing them slightly. "Listen. Al, he loves her and likely was trying to be open and honest with the person he loves. I can't fault him for that and neither can you."

Bella sighed. "You're right."

"I know." Eric said and then kissed her forehead. "It'll get better. She'll get over it. You're sisters. You'll make it through it. She's just hurt. You have to see where she's coming from. You're everything to her."

"She was out of line." Bella said.

"Oh she was. But that's the nature of having a sibling." Eric said and kissed her. "You're really hot when you're all riled up." He said and kissed her again. "Also, your new tattoo is hot." He murmured against her lips.

Bella melted against him. The tension was falling away and the bourbon was really working on her. She reached for him, unfastening his pants.

Eric broke the kiss. "mmm. Baby, we're both wearing our gear." He said and removed his gun and palm pilot and set it on the dresser.

Bella forgot she was honestly wearing her gear still. She took it off and set it on the other end of the dresser.

Eric noticed the new device and figured he would ask her after she was sober. She went back to him after she unzipped her bra and let it fall to the floor. She leaned into him, her hands moving under his shirt. He smiled and let her take his shirt off. He loved the way her hands glided up his body. His mouth met hers again and he slowed down her movements. She was a whirlwind sometimes.

She pulled back. "Eric, right now, I don't need it to be slow and thought out. I need urgency." She said and he complied, pulling at her pants then pushing her back on his bed.

Eric knew that sometimes it was easier to give her what she wanted, rather than what she needed and he admitted to himself that she did call more of the shots when it came to sex. He enjoyed it, right now, he was flipping her over on her knees and she gasped in delight when he pushed his hard cock into her tight core. He filled her up completely, thrusting in and out of her fast and hard.

Bella moaned at the sting of his cock, feeling his tip push against her cervix repeatedly, until she was exploding. Her orgasm shaking her.

Eric groaned a little as she tightened around his leaking cock. He pushed harder, deep inside her before he released his seed. His hands squeezed her ass a little as he pulsed inside her. He waited a moment before pulling out of her and flipping her in his bed. He leaned down, kissed her again and she seemed to settle down. "Mmm. You okay now?"

"Oh yes. That's what I needed. Should have started with this instead of punching my hand through a door twice."

Eric frowned and leaned back up, looking down at her. "You did what?"

"Yeah. I have a problem with anger apparently."

"No shit." Eric said then leaned down and kissed her again, before rolling in the bed to pull her against him. "Things will get better." He reassured before she passed out curled against his chest. He sighed and just kissed the top of her head before pulling the blanket up around them.
