Writer's Notes:Thank you for all the support and reviews! I am mobile today still. I wanted to update this last night but a storm came through and we were without power so I didn't get this updated in time. Today is my birthday so I wanted to be sure to get this up today. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!

Eric woke, his head exploding. Last night he drank too much and he regretted it. Things were foggy, but he knew that he did something he shouldn't have and what was the dance floor with Tania… Teresa… Tara… he couldn't remember. He sighed and got out of bed. It was six in the morning. Training was going to start in an hour. He got dressed, strapping his gear on. He went to the bathroom and splashed water on his face, brushed his teeth and smoothed his hair back. He took some aspirin to help with the hangover, he walked out of his room and started down into the training room. He paused when he heard Jasper's voice.

"You need to slow down Bella. This is too much. Your leg isn't healed and the babies. Please…"

Bella sighed. "Jazz, I'm okay. Please just let me do my thing. I don't need you and Lukas hovering over me. I have to get going soon. I'm taking three kids to George."

"Don't you have to jump from the train? Bella, you're pregnant, please don't do this."

"Jasper. I'm okay. It's just water and I'm capable of hiking." Bella said and then there was silence.

Eric frowned. Bella was pregnant and she didn't tell him. Why wouldn't she come to him and tell him? He ran a hand over his already smoothed hair. He was an ass, he really should have made it easier for her to come and talk to him about things like this.

Lukas's voice sounded now. "Alright, I talked to Four, we're doing training at the fairgrounds. Trying to get out of the pit for a bit. You're going to take the three kids?" He asked Bella.

"Yeah."

"Lukas tell her."

"I'm not. Jasper, she needs this. We talked about this last night."

Bella sighed. "You mean you talked about it in bed after I fell asleep. You're keeping stuff from me."

Eric frowned. So she had moved on to Lukas and Jasper. He couldn't blame her but it still hurt.

"No, we're not keeping stuff from you. We talked about what to do about you when you start showing. You can't hide this forever."

"I'm six weeks pregnant. Still early. I haven't decided what I'm doing yet."

"You mean…"

Bella sighed. "Eric… doesn't want this. I'm not going to force him to be a father."

"I told you that-"

"You're not stepping up and claiming it Lukas."

"Everyone in Dauntless thinks we're together Bella. We put on this show because you and Eric couldn't be found out at the time. You being pregnant changes things."

"It changes nothing Lukas. I already said. Eric walked away. I hurt him, I get that. I can't worry about myself or him or whatever the fuck is going on or what girls he fucks at the bazaar. I have a mission, I'm going to complete it. George and the others depend on it. These kids, depend on me to keep my head. I can't stop or I will break down. I can't do it. It hurts, I'm handling it, just let me do my thing."

Jasper sighed. "This is ridiculous. At least-"

"At least what? Stop doing my job? Jasper, who else is going to take the kids?"

"Eric did it before you." Jasper pointed out.

"Jeanine sent these kids to me. She doesn't trust Eric. She's trying to have him killed. There's a reason it has to be me. I have something for George anyways."

There was a brief silence. "Okay. Just… be careful. You are carrying miracles." Jasper said softly.

"I know. I'm not going to jeopardize them. I understand the gravity of the situation. Until I decide, I'll keep them safe. I made it through a ravager attack and blood transfusion and they're okay. The twins… are okay."

Lukas shifted a little, laying a hand over her stomach. "Eric would want them. You know that right?"

Bella was quiet. "Maybe. If this was last week or even earlier yesterday. But now… no. I told you I don't want him to come back because I'm pregnant. That's why I'm not telling him. That's why neither of you are either." She said and then she walked away.

Jasper sighed. "You never said if you got anything out of Eric last night.

"I didn't really." Lukas said. "He was really drunk. It's the most drunk I have seen. He was fucking Tara on the dance floor last night."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah, don't… don't tell Bella. I know he'll regret it when he wakes up. Maybe he just needs to… work through it. I don't know." Lukas sighed. "I mean. I get part of the reason why he's hurting. Seeing her with Max like that, but she's not actively trying to screw Max. She's getting information that we desperately need if we're going to save everyone. She's taking the most hits on this team. She killed Tris…. That wasn't easy for her. She has nightmares about it still and he's hurting too."

Jasper knew that Lukas was right. "I know. Plus… you didn't really see if he was…y ou know."

"It's dark in the bazaar. No, I didn't see." Lukas admitted. He knew that it was possible, but then again it was possible that he was. He just shook his head. "Let them work it out. They'll figure it out when they're ready." He said and stepped forward and kissed Jasper lightly. "I'm going to chow to get something to eat before I get to yell at you guys." He teased and left Jasper there.

Eric stood there, leaning against the wall as he thought about what he just heard. Bella was pregnant. That's all he was focused on right now. He was an idiot. He knew that when he woke up, but he felt even more like an idiot. He waited a moment, before he decided to walk through the training room.

Jasper paused and looked up at Eric. "Hungover?"

"Yeah." Eric grumbled a little. "Where's Lukas?"

"Chow." Jasper said. "You good?"

"No, I'm not." Eric said and crossed his arms. "Last night. I made some mistakes. I'm an idiot and I'm figuring it out."

Jasper just nodded. "Well, I'm here if you need to talk."

"I don't want to fucking talk Jasper." Eric said, his tone clipped. "Bella left?"

"Yeah, she's getting the kids ready for transport." Jasper said with a nod. "She likely hasn't left yet. IN case you wanted to go… talk to her."

Eric wanted to talk to her. He didn't want her to take the kids to George. It was dangerous for her with being pregnant. "Tell Lukas and Four to carry on training without me." He said and left Jasper there in the training room.

Bella brought the train to a slow as she walked with the Erudite kids to get up on the train. She boosted the littlest one up, and she glanced to see Eric jogging over. He climbed up into the traincar without a word. She sighed and stepped up on the train, then flipped the switch and the train started picking up its speed. She stood there next to Eric looking at the three kids. Jasmine was 5, the smallest one yet to be discovered. Kyle and Joseph were older 11 and 12. "Alright, when I say to jump, you jump. Kick your feet to swim."

Kyle nodded. "I know how to swim." He said and then grabbed Jasmine's hand tight in his. "I'll make sure she gets to the surface. Thank you Bella. For saving us."

Bella smiled a little. "You don't need to thank me. This is my job Kyle. We'll get you to safety. I promise." She said, still not looking over at Eric.

Eric studied the kids. Jasmine was so young and it angered him that Jeanine would even think that this was okay to kill children, but they had to continue doing what they were told. "Alright. Don't think, just jump." He said and then helped Joseph out of the car. Kyle held on to Jasmine and jumped like he was told, Bella followed. Eric's heart launched itself into the pit of his stomach seeing her drop from the car like that. He jumped after her.

The water was warmer since the season was changing rapidly, but it didn't make Eric feel any better. He saw Bella surface and relief shot through him. She helped Joseph and Eric went to Kyle to help with Jasmine.

They made it to shore. Bella pulled her shirt off to wring it out. Eric studied her, making sure she seemed okay and so far she looked fine.

"Alright, it's a bit of a hike, try and keep up." Bella said and they started their hike to the Divergent city.

Bella and Eric delivered the children to George then started their hike back. She paused a moment to drink some water. Eric studied her more, looking at her stomach. It was still flat and she didn't seem like she was hurting at all. Bella caught him staring at her. "Okay. You've been staring at me the entire time. What is wrong with you?"

"Nothing." Eric mumbled.

Bella sighed. "Why did you come Eric? I'm capable of doing this on my own. Have done it by myself."

"I… wanted to talk." Eric said and sighed. "Bella, I'm an ass okay. I say and do things stupidly."

"Always knew you were an ass Eric." Bella said then put her water up and shouldered her bag.

Eric reached for her bag to carry it.

"Okay. Stop." Bella took her bag back. "What the hell are you trying to do? Is this your way of apologizing for walking away yesterday?"

"I just…"Eric sighed. "Can we just talk this through?"

Bella shook her head. "I'm not ready to talk about it Eric. You walked away. That hurt me. I get it, you were hurting too, but I can't just forget your words. Or the way you were basically fucking Tara on the dancefloor."

"That was her name…"He muttered.

"What?"

"I was really drunk last night. I barely remember anything." Eric said. "Bella, please."

Bella shook her head and kept walking. "I don't need you Eric."

"I know." Eric followed her. "Can't I just say I'm sorry?"

"You can say it. Doesn't mean I'm going to listen to it." Bella said and kept walking. She wanted some distance from Eric right now. She heard rustling and she stopped, pulling her sidearm from her hip. Eric heard it too, saw the barb before Bella did and he put himself between her and the ravager. The barb grazed Eric's side, but it didn't puncture. Eric's shot at the ravager, the squeals filling the air as it died. Eric turned and faced Bella his hands moving over her stomach, his eyes scared as he looked into hers.

"Are you okay?" Eric searched her face.

Bella nodded and moved mechanically to look at his side. "You were hit." She said, her cool fingers lifting his shirt to look at the graze.

"Bella. Stop." Eric said and forced her to look at him. "Baby, look at me."

"I'm okay Eric and you can't call me that anymore." Bella said, huffing a little, she looked down at his hand over her stomach. She stared, the feeling of his hand felt comforting. She didn't realize how badly she wanted the babies until this moment. She wanted them so badly. She felt the tears come on fast, but she couldn't stop them.

Eric felt her shake a little, so he pulled her into his arms. Holding her. "I'm sorry… I'm so fucking sorry."

Bella cried for a few moments, before she pulled away from Eric, wiping her face. "Let's keep moving."

"Wait, Bella, let's-"

"This doesn't change anything Eric. We still broke up." Bella said and kept walking.

"Bella, let's just talk about it." Eric said. "Can we please just take a moment to talk about things."

Bella stopped and looked at him. "You saved me from being stabbed again by a ravager, that doesn't mean that I'm ready to talk about things. You walked away Eric. You did."

"I know I did. I'm sorry. I don't know how many times you want me to say that I'm sorry." Eric said. "I promise I'm not going to-"

"No, you don't get to make promises to me. I don't want your promises Eric. You think that you can just break up, fuck Tara on the dance floor and then the next day just want to fix things so quickly."

"I didn't… I couldn't fuck her. I-"

"But you tried." Bella said and shook her head. "What are you doing here Eric… really. You didn't follow me all the way out here to talk."

Eric swallowed. "You're pregnant." He said. "You didn't tell me."

Bella blinked a few times. That was why he readily put himself in front of her, why he put his hand over her stomach. She thought it was coincidence. "How. Who told you?"

"No one told me Bella. I overheard it."

"So you came out here, because you didn't want me to do anything dangerous." Bella said.

"I want to protect you and the babies." Eric said. "Bella, I love you."

"No. Don't say it." Bella said, shaking her head, tears in her eyes.

Eric went to her again, his hands moving to her waist. "Please let me make it up to you. Let me take care of you… our babies."

"Eric… I can't… I'm not ready. I haven't decided. I haven't decided if I'm keeping the babies yet." Bella said, her dark eyes looking up into his steel ones. She saw the mixture of hurt and confusion. It pained her to see him like that.

"Bella… you…"

"Okay, I've decided, but I don't want you to stand there and tell me I love you and that you're sorry because I'm pregnant." Bella said. "I'm not wanting you to be with me because of it."

"That's not it. Bella, I love you. Just because yesterday… yesterday I… I was in pain and I lashed out. I shouldn't have. But I still love you, I never stopped loving you."

Bella teared up a little. "I'm not ready. I need time. Let's just get back to Dauntless." She said then she turned and walked away. She swiped the tear that rolled down her face. Her heart ached, and she would be lying if she didn't just want to make things go back to normal, but the fact was, it wasn't and she couldn't forget his words or the fact that after an argument, he walked away and was so ready to give up.
