"Your hair smells nice," Emma said as she leaned more into Regina's form, still slightly slumped over in an awkward stance.
"Really, the first thing you say to me, is that my hair smells nice?" Regina laughed as she too leaned into Emma for the first time.
Emma whispered in her ear. "I'm… I. Er. Uh. I-"
Emma's stutters were cut short, thankfully for her sanity, by a soothing voice. "Don't be nervous. It's just me." Regina smiled, her hands rubbed circles on Emma's back comfortingly. Emma's body ached to relax, but her body had a mind of its own and stiffened in response. She felt like her pores were bursting into flames from the rush of emotions combined with the sickening Floridian heat.
She spoke, nervously, trying to save face, "I'm making a great first impression, huh?" Emma pulled out of the hug and started to find her words, finally. "I literally can't believe you're here." Emma ran her hands up and down Regina's arms and grabbed a hold of her hands. Her palms were sweating, it was awkward, but there wasn't anything she could do. "I sound like a babbling fool. I'm just so excited and God, you're breathtaking." Emma smiled and bit her lip trying to figure out what to say next. "I, like have you seen yourself? I went weak at the knees." Emma laughed at her own initial reaction at their first face to face interaction.
Regina smiled and attempted to hide her blushing cheeks. That motion alone caused Emma's brain to set off an alarm. She fought the sudden urge to close the remaining distance that separated them, and kiss those lips. The same lips that Emma dreamed about kissing, how they'd taste, or feel on her own.
Taking in a deep breath, Emma shook off that urge and said, "God could you be any more perfect? I can't believe you're really here!" Emma pulled Regina back into a real hug this time. Not the awkward, 'whoops, I fell into you' kind of hug they started with, thanks to Emma.
Holding Regina close, she said, "Please, do me a favor, and ignore the jackhammer beneath my chest." Emma was nervous. Not like 'first date jitters' kind of nervous. More like 'meeting the love of your life for the first time' kind of nervous.
"It's okay," Regina said as she nuzzled her face under Emma's chin and against her chest. "My heart is beating just as fast too."
It was as if she was going to pass out from the sudden feeling of Regina's soft cheeks against her chest, flesh to flesh. It was too much, yet it simply was nothing at all, but a friendly first, well, second hug.
"You're going to be trouble. I just feel it." Emma managed to say as she pulled away to soak her eyes into the person she'd been waiting to see for so long, that's if you consider three weeks long. However for Emma, three weeks felt like an eternity. Her eyes committed everything about Regina to memory: the way her hair moved, or even just the texture and luster of it. Emma's eyes were drawn to the other woman as if electric currents from a magnetic field that pulled them closer. Maybe that was fate, or destiny telling her, 'hey here's this spark of life and, an energy that is disrupting everything because, she's the one, the one that can't get away.'
It wasn't like Emma was the only one feeling this thickness in the atmosphere around them. Regina's eyes were heavy with desire as she spoke softly and slowly to Emma in a way she never had before. "That's for me to know, and for you to find out." Her voice, calm and collected brought heat to Emma's cheeks. Regina was vague and yet her statement alluded to everything, all the sexual tension, and desire that was erupting between them like the supervolcano, Mount Vesuvius in Naples.
Emma snapped her attention back to Regina's eyes, and then her ears heard a bird chirping on a tree branch. She felt flustered when she realized she hadn't even invited her in yet. Strike one, falling into the woman at first glance. Strike two, failing to invite her inside.
Emma nervously laughed. "I'm already messing this up by not inviting you in like a normal person with a brain would do. Perhaps I should join Dorothy and skip along the yellow brick road in search for it. By the way, don't quote me, like ever. I'm speaking incoherently. Do you see what you're doing to me?"
"You're so eloquent. I can only imagine how you'll act when I kiss you." Regina flirted a few inches away.
"Oh, are we doing that now?" Emma awkwardly laughed and scratched the back of her head like an idiot. "Because I so am ready. I'm fine." She gestured towards herself, "I'm totally acting smooth."
"No, you're not. You look like you're two seconds away from passing out on me." Regina pointed out.
"Okay, maybe." Emma threw her hands up in mock surrender. "You've caught me red-handed." Emma rolled her eyes at herself. "Whoa, am I acting super nervous. Like, I can't even think straight?"
"That's because you're not. Are you going to let me in, or should I just call an Uber." Regina said sarcastically, with a smirk.
Emma stepped to the side and let Regina enter and a trail of perfume followed. Everything about this woman was tantalizing, and Emma was falling victim.
In this day and age, technology is a wonderful thing connecting millions of people. You're able to see someone in real life and build these relationships, like the one Emma had with Regina via FindLove. But, in this particular moment, she realized the shortcomings of technology and the small things she missed out on; the way Regina felt and the way she smelled because sweet baby Jesus she oozed sex.
Emma's senses were going off like alarms in her head, imagine a red flash swirling around and sirens sounding off. Her brain was on the fritz from sensory overload. Her skin burned from Regina's touch, it was almost as if she branded her skin with her fingertips, like the way a bull is branded by its owner, she now too belonged to Regina, and willingly so. Her nose twitched and longed for more of that sweet, spicy perfume that made her stomach do the dance of a thousand veils.
Emma Swan was an awkward innocent soul, neck deep in desire, and heading down the road of falling in love at first sight.
"Something is telling me that you woke up late." Regina said as she dropped her overnight bag on the floor. "Have you had coffee yet?"
Emma closed the front door and turned towards Regina. "Guilty, and no. I haven't had coffee. However, I feel like I have a body high from you being here. I'd hate to have some and be a complete nutjob babbling senseless and metaphorical bullshit that makes zero sense. I think I'm already winning in keeping calm and collected."
Regina laughed. She closed the distance between them and tugged on Emma's belt loops. She pulled her forward into her arms in a forward motion. "Then what do you suggest we do, to my knowledge we only have dinner plans."
Emma stumbled over ever single word that she tried to use to lead into a sentence. Being this close to Regina, well, it was intoxicating and it was only early morning. "Uh, well... Uhm... We, I, how about, you know, we just sit on the couch." She stuttered out like a love drunk fool.
"Good call, at least, there's something soft to catch you, just in case you pass out."
"So you'd not catch me?" Emma quick wittily shot back.
Regina smirked, "Are you calling me soft?"
"Nope. Never mind. Let's go sit. And talk. And, yeah." Emma said. No comeback, just a complete mess of random words pushed together into their own sentences.
The pair sat down on Emma's couch. They put distance between themselves. Emma on one side and Regina on the other. It was dead silent, neither one of them taking the initiative to start a conversation. Emma gulped so audibly that Regina heard. There was no doubt that the tension in the room was almost unbearable.
"Emma." Regina said as she kicked off her pointed heels. She brought her feet up, her toenails perfectly manicured and painted a shade of red and laid them right next to Emma. "It's just me." Regina reminded her, again for the second time. "We've talked for weeks now. You practically know a lot about me and we've already fallen asleep together. So what can I do to help calm your nerves down?" Regina asked, sincerely.
Emma waited a few moments and readjusted her position on the couch so that she was facing Regina and curled her legs up against hers.
She breathed out a long ragged breath of air and said, "I'm sorry. It's just, you're more than I'd imagine and I'm just not processing anything. My brain has literally shut off. All my senses feel heightened. I feel weird admitting this, I, oh God." Emma's covered her embarrassed face with her moist palms. "I just need to shut up."
Regina rubbed the outside of Emma's thigh with her toes, teasingly. "It's okay. Why don't we talk about stuff, like we usually do, I think that would help. Like for instance, what are your Thanksgiving plans?"
Emma nodded, and she was thankful for the much-needed distraction. She removed her hands from her face and quickly answered, "My parents are driving up from Miami and August is coming over. Since it's just the four of us, we'll make a small bird and a few side dishes."
"What's you favorite?" Regina encouraged the conversation. Her toes still rubbing against Emma's leg. Emma still felt like her skin was on fire, nothing about that had changed. The woman's touch was tantalizing.
"I love the pies. My mom makes one and brings it up. I buy another. It's a toss-up as to which is my favorite. The pecan pie is amazing, but the apple pie is to die for."
"Apple pie is my favorite. I have a good recipe for it." Regina admitted. That reminded Emma, Regina once mentioned that she loved to cook.
"Somehow that doesn't shock me." Emma smiled. "It's too bad you won't be around. I'd like to taste something you've made." Flirting in person, well, that was that start of something new.
The pair sat on the couch for the better half of the afternoon, skipping lunch, and only broke conversation for desperation times, like visiting the bathroom.
"So dinner is in an hour, I made reservations at a restaurant." Emma casually said, "It's a steakhouse, do you want to go, or would you like somewhere else?"
Regina sighed from her other end of the couch, "Would you hate me if I told you that I didn't want to leave? Can I make us something instead?"
"Are you kidding me? I could never hate you. And we can totally stay in, but I need to warn you, I have barely any food in my fridge beside takeout."
"How does that not shock me? Oh wait, maybe because I've been made witness to your horrible eating habits too many times." Regina laughed. "Ordering takeout is fine. What do you like?"
"My main food group is pizza."
"I haven't had pizza in years." Regina stated.
Emma's mouth fell open and she scrunched her face, "Wha- Are you even human? How does one abstain from the flavorful, and sinful pleasures of a good pizza?"
"Sounds orgasmic." Regina said with a small laugh.
"It is. It's called a foodgasm!" Emma playfully replied in a tone that sold her out for being too excited.
"So I'm ordering us pizza. How about a Hawaiian and..." Emma trailed off thinking of another option.
"... And, a vegetable medley one." Regina finished.
"You're so boring. You could get anything and you're getting basically a salad." Emma playing made fun of Regina.
"I'll eat some of yours, only if you eat some of mine?" Regina compromised.
Emma squinted at Regina. Was she alluding to what she thought she was? "Are we still talkin' pizza?"
"Depends, are we?" Regina winked and then chuckled.
Emma's mouth went dry. Her voice felt weak as she said, "I'm going to put the... order in."
Regina laughed. She shook her head and stood to head to the bathroom.
While Emma was on the phone with a pizza place, she assumed Regina went to freshen up.
When Regina walked out she boldly walked up and instead of taking her seat on the other end of the couch, she sat right next to Emma. Emma's eyes practically bulged from her face and her mouth fell open as Regina ran her hand up her thigh, stopping short of the apex of her thighs.
"Let's pick a movie out." Emma squeaked out and then cleared her throat. She picked up the remote next to them and went to Netflix. "What are you in the mood for?"
"Hm, well, anything really. What's your favorite movie on here?"
"Well, it depends on the genre. There's Love, Actually, The Human Centipede, and, um, there's-"
"What's The Human Centipede?" Regina asked, honestly oblivious.
"Oh well it's this horror movie, the reader's digest version is that this crazy guy kidnaps people and sews people together so that they make a human centipede-"
"Oh god stop right there." Regina winced at the thought, pulling her hand away to settle in next to Emma. "I don't need to know anymore. That's vile and disturbing."
"It's fiction."
"It's disgusting."
"Yeah, well, you asked."
"I can't believe you liked it."
"It was an innovative concept."
"People being kidnapped and sewed together is innovative. Really? That's what you consider innovative?"
"So I take it, that's not an option for tonight."
"No, definitely not. How about that movie." Regina pointed to the screen.
"Sleepless in Seattle?"
"Yeah, it looks cute."
"Regina. You've never seen Sleepless in Seattle?" Emma looked at her, shocked. It as a classic romantic comedy with America's sweetheart Meg Ryan.
Regina turned, only inches away from Emma, "No, why should I have?"
"It's only one of the best romcom's from the early nineties with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan!"
"Meg who?"
"Ha-ha, you're funny, you're like most tabloids this day since she's vanished from the face of the earth."
"No seriously. I don't watch television."
"Well, let's watch it then." Emma clicked on the image for the movie and hit play. The two sat close to one another and Emma did her best to concentrate on the movie. At least one of them was enjoying it, Regina was smiling like a fool over the little boy Jonah gushing his heart and soul to the talk show radio host.
"He's precious." Regina said smiling at the screen.
"That kid is pretty darn cute. I want one just like him someday." Emma went to add more but was stopped by the doorbell.
"That's the pizza. Sit tight. I'll be right back." She said as she paused the movie, pushed herself up and away from Regina, and went to the door.
She signed the receipt and closed and walked the pizza over to where Regina was sitting. "Okay, so the only way to eat pizza is from the box. No exceptions."
"But, what about the grease?" Regina asked, concerned.
"Don't worry 'bout it!" Emma laughed. Regina was too much. Emma popped open the two boxes on the coffee table in front of them. "Bon appetite!"
Emma picked up a huge slice of the Hawaiian pizza and deep throated it. Not even taking a second to realize that she may or may not be making a sloppy impression.
Regina watched Emma carefully and picked up one of her own slices and unlike Emma took a small, ladylike bite.
"Mm," Regina moaned. "This is good."
Emma was on her second piece by that time and said, "I know it's sinful."
The two ate in companionable silence as the movie played. The boxes were almost empty by the first hour and Emma stood and consolidated everything and put the box in the fridge.
She sat back down and smoothly put her arm around the back of the couch and by default, Regina too.
By the end of the movie, Regina had fully leaned into Emma's side, by no means was this comfortable for either of them. They were testing the waters per se. Emma winced a little as she reached for the remote to end the credits that were on the screen.
"Are you okay?" Regina questioned.
"Yeah, it's just my back is stiff. It's still very sore from the accident."
"I can massage it?" Regina said. "I mean I told you I would. I don't mind?"
Emma smiled wickedly. "Yeah? I'd like to take you up on that."
"Do you have lotion?"
"In my bedroom." Emma said as the air suddenly thicker around them.
Regina stood and held out her hands, "Come on." Emma watched as her eyes darkened with determination and lust tangled together, an irresistible combination that would lead to much more than just a simple, back massage. She knew Regina was going to be trouble, and Emma willingly would just go along with it.
Emma grabbed Regina's hand and followed behind her to her room. Her palms were sweating, her heart pumping ferociously, and ears burning. Her head felt faint and her body melted as she entered her room. Regina shut the door and before Emma knew what was happening, her back was against it.
Regina stood in front of her, her chest moving up and down hastily as she spoke, "Please don't keep me waiting anymore."
Waiting? Waiting for what? Emma thought she hadn't missed anything and then it dawned on her. She hadn't kissed Regina yet. She was a mess of knotted up nerves when she first arrived and after her nerves had dissipated, they watched a stupid movie. Her first impression made her seem so inexperienced and it was cringe worthy. She didn't want to come off that way, even if it was only her, that felt that way.
Doing something about that, Emma rushed forward and closed the mere inches that separated them as if it were a million light years. Her hands rushed into dark, thick velvety hair and brought their faces closer. "Regina." She said desperately.
"Kiss me, Emma."
She didn't have to be told twice, Emma brought her mouth closer to Regina's and brought their lips together in a timid, but longing first kiss. They melted together and their lips moved as one. Emma was the first to break away, her heart was pumping so fast she felt light headed.
And so, breathlessly she asked, "So that back massage?"
Regina licked her lips and slyly nodded, "Where's the lotion?"
"By… Uhm. The side table." Emma pointed to the left side table to help clarify since her words were practically useless.
Regina turned and walked over and pulled open the drawer. "Take your shirt off." She commented.
"Isn't that supposed to be your job." Emma said into Regina's ear causing her to visibly shiver in response.
Emma took that as a sign that she had no clue she followed her a few steps back, just in the time for her to grab the lotion. She turned around and dropped the bottle on the bed. Her eyes locked with Emma's unwilling to look away.
"It is if you want it to be." Regina said in a deep, husky voice.
Emma leaned forward capturing the other woman's lips with her own and kissed her deeply, full of passion, and desire. Her hands dove deep into Regina's soft hair and their bodies pressed against one another's in the heated exchange. It hurt even to pull away, but somehow Emma managed and said, "I want it to be." Emma swallowed thickly and leaned her head against Regina's. Their chests both heaving from the sudden increased temperature of the room.
Regina smiled and brought her hands up to cup Emma's face and moved forward and kissed her more. Allowing themselves to be caught in the moment, Emma felt Regina's hands now exploring her body freely. She leaned into her touches and yearned for more. It was Regina who pulled back and studied Emma's eyes once more. "Waiting for that kiss was well worth it and I never want to stop." She admitted to Emma.
Emma smiled, "So you agree, I'm a good kisser?" Flirting was easy, especially with Regina.
"No." Regina laughed. "I never said that. But, I will say, when you kiss me, it's breathtaking. My body feels numb and yet, tingly. I forget where we are and all I can feel..." She said as she caressed Emma's cheek with her nails, "It's you and that's all that matters to me. So, no, I wouldn't say you're a good kisser, I would say you're an amazing kisser who makes me forget everything that's around me. I let go and only feel."
Emma had a shit eating grin as she leaned into the other woman and kissed her lips again, their tongues explored each other's mouths and they fell into a comfortable rhythm.
Emma's voice was raspy as she spoke, "Tell me, how does one breathe after kissing you because I swear Regina, my chest aches, and my lungs hurt. I can't imagine not having your lips on my own."
"Shhh." Regina soothed Emma. "Not now. Stay in the moment with me." Her hands slipped under Emma's thin sheer top and traced her curvature. Emma shivered in response to the sensation of having Regina fully against her skin. Regina hiked more of the fabric up, exposing Emma's taut and muscular abdomen.
The air felt like acid on her exposed skin. Her head was spinning and her body was burning. All she knew was fooling around with Regina felt like an inferno consuming her, making everything in her feel alive and all of her senses active, and yet, damn was she melting in the palms of the other woman's hands.
The shirt rose higher and higher until she no longer even had it on. Her eyes were shut and her mind was blank.
"Emma." Regina said. "Are you okay?"
Yes, and no. She was enjoying every second but being sexually dormant for what felt like eons was making this almost unbearable. Regina had no clue how big this was and that was on Emma for not explaining that to her yet. In time, she vowed to herself she would. She, at this moment, could only give in to how the other woman was making her feel and it was nothing short of extraordinary.
Emma shook her head in response, "Everything is perfect." She said as she grasped Regina closer causing their bodies to collide. And it was true. Everything was fine, so long as they didn't go further and get caught up in the moment before Emma had a chance to tell Regina everything that she deserved to know about her being transgender.
She leaned into her and whispered in Regina's ear. "But, I want to even the playing field."
Emma smirked and pulled away from the brunette in her arms. She slipped her fingers beneath Regina's top and pulled it over her head. Emma couldn't stop the reaction she had. Her eyes zeroed in on two perfect sized breasts held tightly back in beautiful, lace. Her mouth watered and her eyes widened. "So that back massage." She said, trying to be smooth, it wasn't working, though. Her nervousness was evident, at least to Regina.
"Yes." Regina smiled. "That back massage. Why don't you lay face down on the bed?" She pointed to the neatly made bed that they were about to mess up.
Emma nodded and followed her instructions. She relaxed onto her bed and placed her head on the backs of her hands.
She felt Regina straddle her hips and relax on to her. The pop of the lotion bottle cap made Emma jump and also squirm just a little when cold lotion drizzled against her skin.
Regina leaned and centered her body weight downward, like there was much, and moved her fingers along Emma's back. Emma moaned in response and Regina added more pressure.
"You're back is so tight." Regina cooed as she leaned closer to Emma's flesh.
"I think it's needed a special touch, like yours."
Regina laughed. "Stop flattering me."
"It's true. This feels amaaaaaahhh…" Emma's last word drew out, and drool seeped out of her mouth as Regina hit a spot that felt, well orgasmic. "...zing."
Her fingers danced along the edges of her bra and slid underneath the small fabric teasing, Emma. Emma knew what the other woman was up to, she was and has always been pretty transparent about this moment since she first brought it up after the car accident.
"Take it off." Emma said, ignoring the little pool of drool on her comforter, she knew she was the epitome of attraction at that moment.
"Are you sure?" Regina asked.
"Uh... huh..." Emma groaned as Regina's fingers worked their magic.
She felt Regina's hands stop for a second. Her ears perked up and she heard her bra unclasp. Regina slowly slid the straps of her bra from her shoulders.
Emma sat up, away from Regina, and pulled it off and laid back down. "Keep going."
Regina continued to work on Emma's back and about five minutes later leaned closer to Emma's body and started a trail of heated kisses from the nape of her neck down the sides of her body and to the band of her jeans. Her fingers grazed softly against Emma's bare skin and teased her, willing her to flip over.
"Emma, make out with me." She asked softly, and if Emma knew better, somewhat vulnerable.
She slid off Emma's backside and allowed her room to sit up. Emma took in a deep breath and turned and faced Regina, naked waist up.
Regina's eyes didn't go straight to her chest, though. Instead, they remained on Emma's in a tight lock that was unwavering.
"An item for an item?" Regina asked.
"An item for an item." Emma confirmed.
She pulled Regina into her arms and unsnapped her bra. She took her time and slowly slid it down her arms and discarded it somewhere in her room, or better yet, oblivion. Might have been a black hole for all that mattered.
Both of their chests were heaving from the gravity of the moment that was infused with so much desire. They leaned forward and kissed again. It was if they couldn't get enough after weeks of getting to know one another and waiting for that special moment until they could.
Regina's hands were the first to explore, and teasingly they stroked the sides of perfectly shaped breasts. Emma closed her eyes and felt her hands palming at her firm nipples that begged to be touched.
Her body trembled inevitably from Regina's touch. It was something she had long lusted after. Having her here, in the now, well that was something Emma could almost not believe. Her own hands began to wander down the Regina's soft, skin. She caressed her in intimate places that she never thought possible weeks prior. Feeling Regina's chest rise and fall in the palms of her hands was almost too much. She was breathtaking. Emma's fingers pinched and teased her and God did she want more.
Opening her eyes, she looked at Regina's eyes, "I know I've told you this, and I will tell you a million more times, but you're beautiful. Everything that word means you are. Exquisite, stunning, ravishing, you are everything and so help me god, I can't get enough." Emma confessed as she collided their bodies together again." She kissed her madly and felt her body grow aroused. Too aroused.
She pulled back and said, "I think we should stop before I can't stop myself."
Regina nodded, "Can I stay here?"
Emma smiled and felt so thankful the woman didn't get upset with the sudden shift in emotion. She just couldn't get ahead of herself, Regina deserved to know more about Emma before they went there.
"You can, so long as you allow me to hold you. Is that too gay? Because it sounded gayer than I anticipated it to."
The two laughed together and Regina kissed Emma one last time, "It was pretty gay, but I'll let it slide just this once."
Emma settled in the warm embrace and told her, "You like it."
"Maybe I do."
Regina turned over onto her side and Emma wrapped a comforting arm around her waist. She kissed Regina's shoulder and closed her eyes allowing sleep to claim her.
When morning came, Emma felt Regina stir in her arms and turned over to face her. Emma knew she had to look like a blonde Godzilla because she was one of the ugliest sleepers. And of course, she felt Regina start to tremble with muffled laughter.
"You know, it's wonderful to wake up to your girlfriend laughing at you, no big deal. Let me go find my ego, I left it somewhere on the floor perhaps next to your bra." Emma mindlessly said as she cracked open her eyes to Regina, and not a laptop screen for once.
"Girlfriend?" Regina said. Her expression was unreadable and Emma swallowed a gulp that consisted of mostly air.
"Uh…" Emma said with her mouth open, unsure how to dig herself out of this one.
"Is that what you want? I mean with me?" Regina asked. Again, Emma couldn't tell where this was going. She hated when people were unreadable, it only made things awkward.
Despite that, Emma admitted, "Yes. If that's okay with you, I would like that a lot. But first I need to talk-" Regina cut her off silencing her with a heated kiss.
Instantly, all thoughts that Emma had in her mind were gone.
She rolled over Regina and their mouths tangoed, Emma completely and one hundred percent lost in the moment. Her attempt at telling Regina she was transgender was swept away with the passionate kiss they shared.
It wasn't until later that morning, at breakfast with August, that she realized the big mistake that she made by not telling Regina more about herself. She let her emotions drive what happened instead of thinking clearly about what she needed to tell her.
"So Regina, what are you intentions with my friend?" August asked in a stern tone.
"Are you seriously doing this." Emma rolled her eyes.
Regina smirked at how quick Emma was to jump in. "Well, I intend on being with her." Emma looked over at her and it was a different change of pace to have someone like her like this. It was new and gave Emma a funny feeling in the pit of her stomach.
"That's vague." August responded.
"It's the truth." Regina defended.
"Did you guys have a good night?" He then asked.
Emma eyed her friend who had dark circles under his eyes. "Uh. Not as good as yours I'm assuming."
"Yeah I met another hot one at the bar last night. She was easy. Had her in the bag in no time at all."
Regina turned to Emma and whispered, "Is he always like this?"
"I would say, seventy percent of the time. Trust me, he doesn't always come off as piggish." Emma pointedly glared at her friend.
"Regina, Emma tells me that you are being acquired, how is that going?"
Now it was Regina's turn to roll her eyes. "It's going. Not as fast as I expected. The CEO is inventing problems left and right and I'm so ready to call it quits."
"The payout is worth it in the end." August scrapped his fork against his plate.
"I suppose. I don't have another meeting until two weeks from now. I hope that some things can get resolved by then. Otherwise, I'm prepared to look elsewhere."
"Understandable. Two weeks isn't that bad is it? I mean for you guys." Emma nodded with Regina.
Emma grabbed Regina's hand and comfortingly rubbed circles against it and nodded in response to August. Emma pulled Regina's hand up and kissed it. "It's getting closer to time for you to leave."
"I don't want to leave." Regina's confession was almost tearful. She pulled out her phone and pulled up her Uber app and requested a car. "The driver will be here soon."
"I wish you would have let me drive you. And I don't want you to go either, not now. I don't feel like we had enough time."
"Next time I'll stay longer."
"Please."
"Uh… How about I get the check." August interrupted them. "Regina it was so nice to meet you. Emma here is head over heels for you. She's lucky."
"Well, I think I'm the lucky one." She directed that statement towards Emma.
August excused himself and left them to it. "Let me walk you out to call your Uber?" Emma said.
The two exited the restaurant and walked over to Regina's car. They said their goodbyes, the older man inside the car waited patiently.
"I had a wonderful time. I already miss you, I know that sounds stupid, but it's true." Emma said to the brunette.
"I know. It's incredibly hard to leave you. It's…"
"Heartbreaking." Emma finished her sentence. They leaned in for that final kiss. They both poured all of their emotion into it, all the things that were indescribable and too soon to say were conveyed in that one kiss.
"Call me when you're home." Emma said as she watched Regina get into her car and it drive away. It was at that moment, a small lonely tear cascaded down her cheek.
Her eyes burned as she watched the car fade off into the distance. A voice from behind caught her attention, "You didn't tell her, did you?"
"I went to tell her. I really did try, but I fucked up because she kissed me and everything I had to say was forgotten in the heat of the moment." She said wiping away her sadness. "Now she doesn't know and she's my girlfriend now and I feel like I lied to her. I don't have to tell people that I'm transgender, but she deserves to know."
August wrapped his arms around Emma. "You may have not told her the entire truth, but you didn't lie to her. She'll be back in two weeks. You need to tell her first thing when she gets here. No, if, and, or buts. If what I picked up at breakfast is true, then I think she will understand. But, you gotta give her a chance. The last thing you want is for her to find out because she tries to come on to you. That would ruin everything you both have worked so hard to build together."
Emma pulled out of his embrace. "I know. All I feel is guilt right now. I just couldn't tell her. I lost my nerve and I feel like a coward." She said.
"Emma, listen, this is your biggest secret. No one deserves to know it immediately. It's your choice and up to your discretion as to when and how you tell anyone. As your friend, I am telling you, that it's better sooner than later. I also think it's better in person. Everything will work out."
"God I miss her already. I feel so… lonely." She admitted. She felt like a void in her heart was filled for twenty-four hours and now it's back again. It was confusing and painful.
She felt a buzz in her pocket, she pulled out her phone and saw a message from Regina.
I miss you. I can't wait to be home and to see you again.
Emma's heart picked up a beat even though she felt morose about the whole ordeal and texted a response in return.
I'll be waiting for you beautiful.
She smiled and turned to August. "Do you really think she'll be understanding?"
"Yes, I really do."
