"Sweetie" a solitary finger strokes my nose and I wake up to the glow of Tony's arc reactor.

I look around not seeing Steve in the bed "Where is our hottie fella?" I ask

"I'm proud of you doll" My eyes crinkled up in a grin. "Were the girls disappointed that I wasn't there to take them to Nursery?" I worried "They were excited, stop worrying"
"They ate their breakfast?" Steve pulled me back to him, stealing another kiss "Toast and Juice, and the staff stared at me when I took them in" he jumped onto the bed with Tony encircling Steve in his arms "You should have seen it, Tony-bear" Steve told us how our little girls were introducing him as "Unca Steve" We all howled with laughter. "Oh, my gawd, that is hilarious!" I giggled "And then, Josie whispered 'He's really Captain America, but sshhh..he doesn't want everyone to know" Tony busted out laughing his head going forward into Steve's neck "Okay, boys, does this mean I can twist Agent Coulson and Clint into helping with the float?" They nodded as I pulled my hair into a messy up-do and pulled on my cotton lemon yellow dress. "How do I look?" they both looked stunned "Doll, you look gorgeous in any dress" They both walked towards me with wicked grins on their smug faces.
"No, and just, No! Now is not the time!" they pouted "Please, now you look like kicked puppies, get dressed, Tony!" I squeal as he pulls me to him. Steve is behind me nibbling my neck. "Please, get a room, you three" Agent Coulson covers his face
"Nah, we have an apartment, thanks, Agent Coulson" Steve says sarcastically as Tony laughs. "Okay, Tony-bear, I've been dying to say this" our girl chuckles "Suit up!"
"What, we haven't seen the southern belle dress that you chose!" Steve whined "Too bad, fellas. No peaking! Now suit up, Captain America, Iron Man, times-a-wasting" We grinned at her getting back to work. "What she said" we both chuckle.
New York Pride
"This is NYC news, Pride is in full flow people, The floats are covered in Rainbow flags… Wait, is that the Avengers… It is Laura, we have Iron Man aka Tony Stark, Captain America aka Steve Rogers, and the newest addition to Stark Industries, Ms Caroline Forbes who is the events planner is looking stunning in her Miss Mystic Falls ballgown. Caroline Forbes POV
"Hi everyone, are you all enjoying yourselves!" she shouted and put the microphone out to the crowd. She got a roar of cheers "This is a first for me, being part of pride NYC but I am proud to represent all couples. Love is powerful whether it's man and man, woman to woman. Gay or straight. The crowd roared and Caroline grinned at Tony and Steve blowing them kisses. "Tom Grennan, everybody!" Caroline took her seat again as Tom Grennan started singing….
Steve Rogers POV
I was so proud of our sweet girl, I decided to wrangle Tony-bear into picking the next song "Tony-bear" I whispered smiling "Yes Baby blue" he whispered back "Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond" I said back "Cool song" he said as Tom Grennan finished singing. "You're up" he grinned at me "Okay, folks, this is for Caroline Forbes, who has been a literal ball of sunshine and a ray of light since starting work at Stark industries, thank you Caroline for brightening up our days. I heard Tony swear, "Tony, she'll heal right, Tony" Silence met me "Two seconds, cover her body, make it seem like she's dead. Rush her back to the Avengers medical facility, move it, baby blue, she's going to need a 'blood transfusion' I caught on then "Get the fucker who did this to our girl, don't show them any fuckin' mercy. Tony!"
Tony Stark POV
"JARVIS!"
"Yes Sir, doing a complete scan of the crowd, looking for blurry movements!"
I had a feeling I knew what JARVIS was looking for "JARVIS, upload it to the mainframe of my suit"
"The pictures were grainy, but I studied it and found the perpetrator, Sir, there appears to be another supernatural being. Black hair, blue eyes, leather jacket. He is hiding a silencer weapon" I clenched my fist as JARVIS identified him "Its Damon Salvatore, sir, the bullet in Ms Forbes head is wooden and it was covered in the herb Vervain"
"I know, shoot a tracker at the bastard now. GPS, I'm going to go back to our girl at the tower"
"Yes, Sir, Captain Rogers is currently getting Natasha Romanov to donate blood to Ms Forbes" I wanted to fucking cry and scream but that could wait until I'd seen that our 'sweet Caroline' was okay.
Steve Rogers POV
"Natasha!" I shouted as I cleared the table with one swipe "Cap!" she rushed in "I need your blood, live blood, our girl's been shot, directly in the head by a wooden bullet, Vervain soaked" Natasha put her hand on my shoulder as I wept "Cap, you got to breathe, now!"
I took a gulp of air. "Okay, we need to dig out the bullet first, then I'll feed her directly from my wrist, okay, Cap, we got this, she'll be okay"
I looked at Natasha with wet eyes as Pepper rushed in and covered her mouth in shock.
"Cap, pass me the scalpel, good, now hold her down as she comes to" I did so as I heard Tony in my ear. "Baby blue, I shot a GPS sticker at the asshole who did this to our girl" I nodded. "Tony, who did it?"
"Damon…" he choked out
"The one who raped her!" I clenched my fist in anger "What do we do, Tony?"
"Call in reinforcements, Doctor Strange, the Antman, the hulk"
"Tony, the girls?"
"With Happy in the Limo, relax baby blue"
"We can't…" I sobbed "Lose her, or those sweet little girls Tony-bear"
"I know cutie, I'm chaperoning the girls into the tower now, see you in a few, okay?"
I turn to see Caroline wake up in full on pissed off vampire mode. Two things happen then
Natasha cuts her wrist and puts it to our girl's mouth. She's drinking three gulps before she looks at me "Steve" I hold her tightly as she sobs "You took a bullet for me, a vampire, why?"
"Because we love you, and those girls so, so, much. Tony found who did it, Sweetie, it was a diversion, for Alaric to take the girls" Caroline hissed "Damon!"
"Believe you, me, that is the last time we are ignoring those dreams of yours" Caroline chuckled wetly as she threw her arms around me "Better be, I love you two, my lovely men"
Tony walked in at that point with the two little munchkins that we all loved. "Mommy!" they cried out "Oh god, my babies" she wept as she rocked them in her arms "We are okay Mommy, but we are hungry"
"I'll order take out" Tony said quietly "Gotta do that now…now" he swallowed, and I could see he was barely holding it together, seconds away from a massive freak-out
"Tony-bear" I tried to stop him escaping "Baby blue, can't!"
Caroline blurred to his side "Tony-bear, we'll be okay, you protected my… our girls and you are so loved" She kissed him, and he collapsed onto his knees taking our girl with him. He just cracked sobbing "Can't lose you, baby girl" he shook his head as his shoulders trembled. I was pulled into their bundle as the twin girls sat in my lap "We'll be okay" she made hushing noises as Tony shuddered in our arms.
Alaric Saltzman POV
"Fuck, Fuck, what have I done, I've been a complete dick!" I had to fix this. I picked up the phone and dialled the one person that would stand with Caroline and rip out Damon's heart for being the sick rapist that he has always been. I never saw it"
"Hello?"
"Hi Klaus, it's Alaric"
"Alaric, you sound distressed"
"Damon tried to 'kill' Caroline today in full view of the public at the NYC Pride Parade" I heard a growl "What did you do?!"
"I didn't know what he did before?" Klaus roared "What did you do?!"
"I was going to abduct the girls, nullifying the custody agreement, but when I heard she was shot in the head, I couldn't do it. I don't want to have this hanging over my head. I want you to kill Damon Salvatore, so that the mother of our children will never suffer at his hands again"
"I'll be there tomorrow. Caroline's daughters will want to meet my daughter"
"I'm sorry Klaus, I know you love her"
He hung up then.
Caroline's POV
Tony and Steve sat there quietly as I served the takeout on plates. The girls picked at their food, and I ate what I could.
"Tired" Steve asked me "Exhausted, but I'll put the girls to bed" he nodded as he kept glancing at Tony.
"We'll be in bed waiting" he pulled Tony up and virtually carried him to our bed, not before pecking me on the lips.
The girls immediately fall asleep after I sing "Go in peace" and I hold my tears in until I reach Steve and Tony. "Baby girl" they have reddened eyes as they open their arms.
Then I weep as I fall into bed. "He tried to take them!" I rage as I weep, and Steve is trying to comfort me. "Make love to me, please, take me!" Tony's head came up from my chest.
"You sure, baby girl?" I strip off my clothes "Put your hands on me!" I cry out. Tony gasps as he flips us. Steve is still shaken but he manages to yank off my sleep pants. The only sounds that matter that night is the ones that we are making in the bedroom. "I want to see you, fuck!" I growl as I straddle Steve rubbing myself against him. Tony is prepping me quickly.
