Ratchet's P.O.V.
Roy wants to help Jasmine learn to trust others, but I don't know if she's ready after what she's dealt with. Especially since she blames herself for the base being attacked. Even if I do a background check and talk to Roy's friends. This is going to be the hardest part of Jasmine's recovery. I don't know if the terror twins being with her and Roy will help. Roy understands he might not help beyond the conversation he wants to have with Jasmine. I didn't think he'd suggest talking to the terror twins first. Talking to Sideswipe will be easier than talking to Sunstreaker. Roy knows the twins also won't trust him easily, but Jasmine trusts them. I tell him I'll see if they can come here later before going to the next patient room.
"You sure we should do this?" Jolt asks, "five patients are in critical condition, and one is unstable."
"I still have to talk to whoever's in charge of the residency program. Then maybe Lennox if this doesn't work. Hoping requirements are different for army medics. I can't believe this."
That glitch is ruining everything. I'm tempted to let Sunstreaker find her. I'm amazed he hasn't left on a revenge mission yet.
I find my femmes and the twins in the lounge room. Audrey is playing on her mat, laying on her stomach while Jasmine and the twins watch T.V.
"It's cramped in the room with her playmate," Sideswipe argues.
This is good for both femmes, even if Audrey is only two months old. I sit next to Jasmine, who moves onto my lap and leans on me.
I know she misses me, but with the critical and unstable patient, I can't be out of the medbay for long. If I tell her, Jasmine will blame herself.
Jasmine's P.O.V.
I know Ratchet is busy with patients after the attack. Even if this was after a failed mission, I don't want to tell him to let Jolt handle the patients, but I'm tired of only seeing him in the cafeteria.
"You two need to spend more time together," Sunstreaker comments, "I think a date Friday should be fine."
I can tell by Ratchet's expression, there are patients still in critical condition, and he's not sure if leaving Jolt alone in the medbay for a few hours is wise, even if it's only Monday.
Ratchet stays for an hour, even though Jolt hasn't paged him.
"I'm sorry, I don't dare leave Jolt alone with five patients in critical condition," he says and kisses me. He picks up Audrey, who smiles, "be a good little sparkling," he hands me Audrey and leaves the medbay.
"What an aft!" Sideswipe rages, "married to his job."
I can't help but laugh, "he's been used to being a medic for centuries."
"She's right, even while he was spark bonded with Compass," Sunstreaker adds.
"I assume that's Cybertronian for marriage. Ratchet doesn't talk about Compass, and I will not ask him. I wish he'd cut back a little, but when my recovery will take months, I can't be mad at him."
"Seriously? You're not trying to let him go, are you?" Sunstreaker asks.
"No, I just... what kind of girlfriend — or whatever you guys call it — would I be if I'm telling him not to do his job? This is likely going to happen again. I just hope not another attack on the base. I should be helping him and Jolt."
"You will, but we need to make sure you're ok to work in the medbay," Sunstreaker explains.
I know what he means. Then there's my training to be a soldier.
Sunstreaker's P.O.V.
While we also have a two-month-old baby to care for, there has to be something Sideswipe and I can do to help. Jasmine should be able to do workouts. I doubt she'll be allowed to take part in Sideswipe's training class until she feels safe and doesn't question if any soldiers are insiders. I know we need to be careful, considering what Jasmine was put through, but I feel like what has been the plan is not helping her.
I'm going to talk to Optimus. I tell Sideswipe through the bond.
"... I know I need to talk to Ratchet and Rung. They won't let me talk unless you schedule a meeting," I fi. explaining.
"I don't believe that. They are letting you be near the two femmes, rather than guarding from the hallway, or choosing another bot. However, I believe this will require a meeting and planning," it's too late for a meeting now, even if it'll be short, "I'm liking seeing you care about Audrey and Jasmine," Optimus smiles.
Saying nothing, I leave his office.
"Sunstreaker," I hear Ratchet, "I want you to meet someone who's looking to help Jasmine."
We can all tell if a human is lying, but I've mastered reading human expressions even if most of the time, I'm seeing fear from my victims.
"You realize this could scare the soldier?"
"I already told him I want you to meet him, and he had no issue with this."
I'm a little concerned this situation has Ratchet traumatized that he's asking me to see if a soldier isn't lying, but he'll deny it. I don't blame him. He's afraid he'll lose his femmes.
Roy isn't bothered seeing me, which is odd. He's not a new soldier who's had yet to find out who I am. He isn't a. d to talk to me. Unlike with the other humans who claimed to want to be Jasmine's friend, I'm able to figure out if he's lying before he goes near her. As far as I can tell, Roy is being honest. He wants to help like Darius, but he's hoping to help further than a few encouraging words.
"... I know I can say anything, but you will not trust me for a while. I'm aware you'll be keeping a close eye on me," Roy explains.
"I will be, and if you do anything to hurt either femme, it'll be the last thing you do," I warn.
I don't smell fear as I say this.
"I know who you are, Sunstreaker," Roy says calmly, "I want to help her. I doubt I'd trust anyone saying they'd want to help, knowing what Jasmine has been through right away, either."
I tell Ratchet this guy is ok to be near the femmes, but I'll be watching him. Tomorrow Roy will start physical therapy, and I can get Jasmine back to training — I hope.
