On the other side of the campus, the juniors were having their own first class of the morning.
Life Skills Without Magic taught by one of the three fairies that raised Sleeping Beauty.
Melione had tried to make herself presentable for the day and so she was using a short sleeved knee-length dress, he brother gave her a quizzical look when she entered the classroom as she never used dresses at the Isle because it could catch the attention of the Gastons. She just shrugged and took her seat by his side.
"You are late" Yzla said, she was sat behind Hades' children and she still had no partner, no one wanted to sit with her but that didn't bother her as it was the same when they were students at Dragon Hall.
"One is never late, the others are simply early" The goddess shrugged it off and added "Besides, Merryweather isn't here yet"
"I just hope she isn't like Mother Gothel" Hadie commented "She was always pissed off when we arrived before her"
"Mother Gothel?" Some blonde girl asked almost in a cry. She had big brown eyes but her hair was almost golden and the VK's realized that she was one of Rapunzel's daughters, Freddie had told her sister Celia about the girls in some of the letters she sent to the Isle from time to time and Celia had told them that one of them was a very chill person and the prone to dramatics, one was Anxelin...
"Shut up, Ruby" They heard a girl said.
The other was Ruby, one of Freddie's friend's friend. The Shadow Man's daugther didn't have many good words about her but no bad words either.
"But Ronnie...Blue Hair here said that they had freaking Mother Gothel as a teacher!" Ruby said pointing at Hadie "Who knows what she taught them at that forsaken place!"
"She taught Selfies, Ruby" They heard a familiar voice say "Mostly take portraits of ourselves and study photos of villains"
Just at that moment, Carlos entered to the class with Jace and Harry in tow. Cruella's son didn't know how he felt about having them around again as the three boys had never been close but he knew that they were better off in Auradon Prep than they were in Hell Hall without something to do and that something to do had been following him as his mother had said that they were to be his minions, not friends, just like their fathers before them.
"Is that really a subject at school there?" Ronnie said, she had dark red hair and brown eyes.
"At Dragon Hall, yes" Hadie quickly responded wanting to be part of the conversation "At the Witches School no and I don't know about Serpent Prep"
He motioned them to seat on the shared desk behind him and Jane, his girlfriend was a little put off by all the new Villain Kids running around but she trusted Ben's judgement and most of them seemed nice enough...for now.
"Is there more than one school there?" A boy with brown hair asked.
"Yes, each sector of the Isle has one" Carlos explained "Though I don't know why do we have a Witches School since there is no magic at the Isle"
All of the VKs snorted, it was an usual joke among those who lived around Bargain Castle and the docks. Then they all fell silent but it wasn't a totally uncomfortable silence.
"Where are Big Murph and Eddie?" Carlos suddenly asked, he hadn't seen them in a while and was getting somewhat worried. Eddie had always been a good kid but Big Murph was part of Harriet's crew.
"They are sophomores" Harry said bored "They are fifteen"
"Really?" The white haired boy asked in surprise, he had assumed that they were the same age as his friends.
"Eddie was the last kid born before the illness" Yzla muttered as she had been hearing to their conversation but it was loud enough that Carlos heard it and it peaked his interest and so she added "Big Murph is huge but he is only fifteen..."
"What is the illness?" Jane asked curiously.
This time Hadie was the one who spoke and intertwined his fingers before saying "The was a wave of sickness at the Isle of the Lost about sixteen years ago that killed about a third of the people living there, it lasted two years..."
"I don't remember it" Carlos said.
"We were babies, De Vil" Melinoe said rolling her eyes and added with a condescending tone "We of course don't remember most of it"
"Mother never mentioned this" He defended himself.
"That is because it affected most of the people living in the docks and the people living near the shores and the forest" Yzla said in a-matter-of-fact tone "That's when most of the witches died, except for Madam Mim"
"And Evil Queen and Ursula" Hadie added.
"Aren't there some witches at the other side of the Isle?" Harry asked, having grown up with Carlos and Jace at Hell Hall he had not heard about that and they weren't allowed far from Maleficient and Cruella's territory.
"Yes but fewer than forty" Henry said, he had just gotten in the classroom and decided to sit in front of the class. He was wearing a pair of yellowish pants his father had packed for him and a red shirt "When they arrived they were more than two-hundred between the big baddies, their minions, sea witches and some others that were mostly scammers and stuff"
The way they talked so relaxed about something so serious was shocking to Jane and she couldn't find the words to say something about it, she hadn't known that there were more than the "big bad" at the Isle of the Lost and she wondered if her mom knew about that illness.
Surely they would know, Auradon surely had tried to send them help if they had trouble.
Were there any people that weren't really villains there?
But before she could ask Merryweather entered the class with a bunch of books, Carlos went to help her along with some Herkie who had just gotten into the class.
Melinoe and Hadie stiffened a bit but soon their worries were shut down when Herkie passed by their desk and gave them an awkward smile.
Hadie took it as a good sign.
Melinoe was weirded out, then she returned the smile and started to formulate a plan.
*Later, at Auradon Middle School*
Things weren't going as smoothly with Dizzy and Hermie.
They gave one look to Hermie's hat and Dizzy's dress and they decided that they weren't worth their time by hiding behind their canvas as it was the Art room.
Most of them were princes and princesses as King Beast had decreed that most royals had to receive their education at Auradon Academy, children of some other heroes and their allies were admited too but most decided to keep their children at home till they were around fourteen.
The student body was fairly small, in their first class (Hermie was held back a year) their classmates were: Prince Edwin of Andalasia, Prince Frank Fitzherbert, Princess Amelie of Enchancia, Lady Sofie Winslow and her twin Jacob, Klaus Árnadalar, Prince Malcom Dunbroch, Roy Radcliffe, Jack Porter, Allegra Zwerg (daugther of Happy), Lady Gwen of Locksley and Princess Archfeed of Camelot*.
Their Art teacher was Flora, other of Sleeping Beauty's fairies, and she was nice.
She had told the tweens to be nice to their new classmates but tension was high and when lunch
"Why should we accept them here?" Princess Amelie asked with a frown, her green eyes didn't leave Dizzy's dress.
"They are villains" Prince Jacob said.
"They are not villains" Flora said in a patient tone "They are kids just like you"
"We were raised by heroes" Archfeed said stressing the last word and giving a dirty look to Dizzy who just hid her face behind her canva.
"Your father just took out a sword from a stone" Jacob scoffed.
"Yours just happens to be born a prince" Malcom snorted.
"At least I know who my father is!" Jacob said back.
"That's easy when your family tree is almost a branch" Malcom responded.
"Kids, please" Flora tried to clam them down, almost as if she was used to it.
Hermie was getting somewhat tense and so she raised her hand and said "May I go to the bathroom?"
Dizzy gave her a look that said "Don't leave me alone" but the Ringmaster's daughter needed to ran away. She knew that Evie would have her head later but things were getting far too tense for her.
"Yes" The fairy said taking out a hall pass "Last door at the left side of the hall, you won't get lost"
Hermie just nodded and gave her roommate an apologetic look, the fashion designer just sighed.
"Now, my dear children" Flora said now forgetting about the whole mess made by the young royals a few seconds ago "Since is the first day of school, I want you to draw or paint something about your summer vacations"
Dizzy deflated a little, there were no summer vacations in Dragon Hall since parents didn't like having their children at home (like her mother), others wanted to keep their children out of trouble as long as possible (like Aunt Anastasia) and some teachers got bored easily when not at school (like Mother Gothel).
She didn't know what to draw for a few minutes before she decided to sketch some of her designs since it was the things she did in those few moments her grandmother gave her a break.
"Are you a designer like Evie?" Klaus asked.
"Yes" Dizzy said excitedly "I helped her with some of the clothes she brought first to Auradon!"
"I heard you also made the tiara she wore to the Cotillion" Gwen commented without looking up from her drawing.
"It was pretty" Allegra complimented with a soft smile to Dizzy who amiled brightly.
Maybe things weren't so bad.
Then Edwin bumped into her while walking towards the sink in the back of the class to discard his paint water and dropped it all over Dizzy.
"I'm sorry" He said but it didn't sound sincere.
No one laughed but they didn't say anything either, except for Flora who wrapped her arms around Dizzy while saying "Your parents taught you better than this, Edwin!"
The brown haired boy rolled his eyes and went to sit down, he just muttered something under his breath and Frank and Amelie nodded.
"Is there anything you need?" Flora asked kindly to the shaking girl in her arms.
"I want...Evie" Dizzy managed to say, she didn't imagine her first day of school at Auradon to be this way. She knew that if she asked for her cousin, he would only say to shake it off and give her a pat on the back.
Hermie returned and saw Dizzy crying, Klaus simply said "She wants Evie"
The girl nodded and decided to run to the preparatory sector, she didn't expected to bump first into Chad Charming, who had frowned when she told him a very quick version of what had happened.
Then she went to find Evie, the blue haired girl was talking with her boyfriend in the middle of the hall as they were waiting for their second class to start.
"Hermie! What's up?" Evie said kindly but frowned as she knew that the middle schoolers had double art class in the morning.
"I'm fine..."Hermie said trying to sound really fine but then adde quickly "There was some trouble with some guys in hour class and Dizzy is now crying"
"What?!" Evie asked surprised, she knew that there would be some trouble but no so soon. She quickly started to run to the Middle School grounds, she knew that the younger girl would need her soon.
"What happened?" Doug asked as he motioned Hermie to guide the way, then he added "I'm Doug, my dad is Dopey"
"I know" Hermie said without thinking but then remembered that she had to be nice and added "I mean Evie and you have been dating for a while and you two appeared together in some news" There was a pause "I'm Hermie" Another pause "I...I don't know what exactly happened back there, I went out for a moment and Dizzy waa already crying"
"Did some kid pull a prank on her?" The half-drawf asked.
"I suppose so, her clothes were soaked in water"
"Edwin or Jacob?"
Hermie scratched her head and said "Edwin"
Doug sighed "Typical princes"
"Uh?"
"Most princes aren't really that nice here" Doug said quietly "Especially when they are younger, kids are...jerks"
Hermie nodded and asked rather timidly "The king...was like other princes?"
The half-dwarf laughed a bit and said "Yes, but no...he liked to mock-fight with other boys even when they didn't want but he never wanted to humiliate others...he even taught me some fighting moves" Doug made a pause "Chad was nicer too, he doesn't have much brain but he wasn't the biggest jerk on the land..." He seemed lost in thought.
"Chad as in Chad Charming?"Evie asked, they had just arrived to the Art Classroom and Flora had dismissed the class to talk with the Headmistress.
"Yes" Her boyfriend said and then patted Dizzy's head "Things will get better, you know, when I started Middle School Audrey, Chad and Ben hid all my clothes after gym class...now they are my friends...well Ben is, sorta"
Evie gave him a look that said "You are not helping"
Then they heard some commotion outside and saw Chad talking with Edwin and Jacob.
"You two are supposed to be the nicest ones here" Chad was telling them.
"But Chad, you totally told off Mal for stealing Audrey's boyfriend" Jacob pointed out "Snow White said that on her show"
"And you also called Evie a gold digger" Edwin added.
"I never used that word" Cinderella's son said pouting and then gave a serious look to them "Look, just leave that kid alone..."
"Or?" Edwin asked.
"I...will tell Fairy Godmother" Chad said, clearly not having thought further than that.
Evie just looked at him strangely while Dizzy hugged her.
*Back at Auradon Prep*
Chad was not having a good day.
He had been feeling some tension in the air and he didn't like it. Sure, he didn't like to have the VK's around and the fact that Lady Tremaine's grandchildren had him somewhat on edge but the comments that some of his erm...friends (?) were doing were too awful.
Even for him that had humilliated (not totally unintentionally) Evie and the others during Family Day.
Dizzy was alright, he guessed. So when he heard that prince Edwin of Andalasia had dropped his watwr all over his step cousin he went to the Middle School to tell him off.
(To be fair the Rotten Four had been acting suspicious since they arrived but Dizzy had done none of it, also she had given him a gift)
Frank, his ex-girlfriend Anxelin's brother, has snitched on him and Fairy Godmother had him grounded.
It didn't matter that he wanted to do something good for Dizzy, according to Evie it only made it worse, his godmother wasn't having it.
And since they had no detention room in Auradon Prep, he was stuck in Remedial Goodness 101 with the new Villain Kids and Freddie Facilier.
(It was funny how he now thought about Frederiqua as one of them and not a VK)
He had to admit that the class was as boring as Jay had said during one of their very few civil interactions while training.
"Why do I have to be here?" He muttered while he helped the headmistress clean the board for the class.
"You broke the no bullying policy, Chad"
He wanted to protest but decided that it wouldn't be a good idea.
"Couldn't I miss a game of Tourney instead?" He asked hopefully as he watched the new VK's arrive.
"Your father won't allow it" The fairy said apologetically and then added pointing to a seat "Maybe you could learn something from this"
He rolled his eyes and went to sit, he took out a notebook and even though he never took notes it was a good show for the teachers.
As the VK's filled the room they started to pair up to sit: Hermie with Dizzy, Eddie with Big Murph, Diego with Hal, Anthony with Harriet, Claudine with Hadie, Harry and Jace, Yzla with Freddie, and finally Henry with Melinoe, as they arrived late.
Acoording to Chad some of the pair ups made sense and others did not but he kept his thoughts to himself, he couldn't afford another detention or something.
Harriet, who had sit in front of him with his stepcousin, turned to him and simply said "You got rid of the toothbrush paste"
"Nice headband" He responded with a smile.
"Thanks, sunshine" The pirate said and turned to whisper something to Anthony who gave him a look.
"What are you doing here?" The dark haired boy asked.
"Detention"
"What did the perfect prince do?"
Before he could respond Fairy Godmother coughed to catch their attention and the class started.
The next hour was questions related to their villains parents exploits like:
-If someone hands you a basket of kittens you: A-Give them milk B- Try to drown them C-Abandon them in the forest?
-If you find a vial of potion you: A-Put it in a drink B-Hand to the authorities C-Keep it?
-You find a fairy: A-You force it to give you pixie dust B-You treat it kindly C- None of the above?
-You want riches, you: A-Steal them B-Make fraud C-Work?
"This is ridiculous" Anthony muttered as he drew some doodles on his notebook.
"The price of coming to Auradon" Harriet responded quietly.
"We have to soak ourselves in all this goodness" Hal said with some amusement, he was sat on the desk by Anthony and Harriet's.
"Yen Sid was better at this" Diego said as he took some notes down.
That sounded strange to Chad, as far he knew Yen Sid had disappeared many years ago, around the time almost all forms of magic were banned in Auradon. He had just assumed that he had left for the regions outside the union and was living there.
He remembered that he was a very old wizard who regularly visited his parents along with Fairy Godmother and while serious, he had always been nice to Chad.
Was he in the Isle of the Lost by his own will? Or there was something else?
