"Ellen and I had a code. She knew the FBI was getting closer to arresting me. So I would come here, with one of these."

"Is that a cork?" Chuck asked.

Bryce nodded and placed the cork on the pier, resting against the paling.

"Every time I left a cork here, it was another day Neal Caffrey walked free."

"Why Neal Caffrey?"

"Would you believe me if I said Ellen was more worried about me getting caught as Neal Caffrey than she ever was about my work as Bryce Larkin?"

"Did she know Bryce Larkin was a spy?" Chuck countered.

Bryce laughed. "There is no good way to answer that question, Chuck."

Chuck smiled and pulled out the key. He held it up across the horizon.

"Bryce." He held out the key.

Bryce took it and held it up.

"We found it."

A laugh. "I don't think we're done yet." Chuck looked out across the water at the city. He now knew which building out of the many they were looking at was the one where Ellen's evidence resided.

The only building the key didn't cover.

The Empire State Building.

"102 floors to search."

"I'm sure you can manage, Chuck."

"Your confidence is not inspiring," Chuck sighed. He wasn't looking forward to this part.

The group sat around the Burke's dining table. Chuck had set up a projector to show the floorplans of the Empire State building.

"Who won the bet?" Diana asked, looking around the table.

Mozzie pulled out a little black book and flipped through some pages. "I believe it was El. I will calculate your winnings later."

"Especially since Chuck has a job for you," Bryce said to Mozzie. He wasn't impressed with the betting pool but he let it happen because it provided some entertainment to everyone gathered. They didn't have personal investments in this situation.

"You are the main source of knowledge about Ellen," Chuck explained to Mozzie. "So I need you to find out what kind of connection she had with this building. That will hopefully help us narrow down the floors."

"We can't even be sure that it's only on the publicly accessible floors."

"We'll cross that bridge if we come to it, Bryce," Peter reminded him. "For now, let's just narrow the options."

"And watch out for Pratt," Sarah said. "He's been trying to find out more about White Collar. His agent has been making inquiries about the qualifications of the person who replaced Hughes."

Bryce sighed. "Let's just hope his agent doesn't team up with Ruiz."

"Didn't you have a job for Organised Crime? Maybe that will keep them too busy to meet her."

Shocked gazes moved from Chuck to Bryce, who avoided everyone's gaze.

"Bryce," Peter said in a hard tone. He hadn't said Bryce's name like that before. He hadn't used that tone since 'Neal'.

"Thanks Chuck." He had been trying to keep White Collar out of those plans.

Chuck grinned at his old nemesis. "You're welcome. Now tell them about your plan for Organised Crime."

"It's not a plan. It's approaching Ruiz with a question. That's all. I have a meeting in 2 days."

"A meeting?" Peter questioned.

"A meeting."

"You make meetings now?" Jones questioned in a baffled tone.

"I take meetings now. My calendar is public to all of you."

"All of us in the FBI."

"Nope." Bryce was quick to shoot down Peter's assumption. The calendar was supposed to only be visible to the FBI but Chuck was a hacker. Bryce didn't doubt that Chuck already had access which had been shared with the non-FBI people at the table. Except El. She would know because he would keep her up to date. "It's funny that I keep your wife more up to date with our movements than you do."

"That does change now. I thank Chuck for access to your calendar. Just keep it up to date, Hun."

"Wait, what?" Peter questioned, glaring at Chuck.

Chuck shrugged. Peter glared at Bryce, silently questioning if Bryce knew about this. Bryce sighed and shifted his head in a slight nod.

"I don't think there's a single computer system that can keep Chuck out for long."

"He does have a face that screams 'trust me'," Mozzie mused.

"Aw, thanks Moz."

"And 'underestimate me'," Mozzie finished.

"You say that like it's a bad thing and not responsible for a lot of my successes."

The last person anyone expected to see when entering the FBI office was Mozzie. Bryce paused as he walked in.

"That's my desk."

"Not anymore. You have a whole office. You can share."

Bryce sighed and looked over at what Mozzie was looking at. IRS documents. "You know, you really shouldn't be looking at those."

"Why not? The tax man isn't going to find me."

"Please Moz, I know you pay taxes on more than one of your IDs."

Mozzie hummed. "I think I have something."

Jones and Diana instantly froze. It reminded Neal that their conversation wasn't private.

"Upstairs Moz," Bryce said. "And here." He placed the coffee that was in his hand on the desk.

Moz eyed it suspiciously.

"It's lactose-free. Chuck warned me you might be here."

"I accept your bribe," Mozzie said as he grabbed the coffee and made his way up the stairs.

"Why does he always act like he owns the place?" Jones sighed.

"If he didn't, he wouldn't be able to get to half the places he does." Bryce was well aware of the way Mozzie ran his scams and how he chose to present himself.

Peter joined the rest of them in the meeting room.

"Okay, why are you here?"

Mozzie huffed. "I have news, Suit. Sit."

"One mission with the CIA and look who's suddenly in charge," Jones commented with a grin.

"Worked for me."

Diana gave Bryce a friendly push in the arm. "I doubt that it was only one mission."

"So, Mozzie, what did you find?" Bryce asked.

Mozzie grinned. "When Ellen was first placed in New York, she was assigned a job as a cleaner at the Empire State building."

"Which would have given her time to hide the evidence."

Mozzie held up a finger. "And, she was working there while the 50th floor was undergoing renovations."

"So we have somewhere to start," Peter mused. "But how are we going to find it on that floor?"

"That's not for our team to worry about," Bryce said. "This is part of why Chuck's team is still here."

"What do you mean?" Jones asked.

"Pratt knows we're looking for this evidence. He's watching us and the FBI to see what we do next. If we put any kind of FBI resource on this, he'll suspect it has to do with the evidence."

"What if we used that against him?" Diana suggested.

There was a moment pause while everyone considered this.

"You mean, send him on a wild goose chase?" Jones said.

Diana nodded. "It's not a complete waste of our resources because the purpose is a distraction. And he won't notice where the evidence is until Chuck's team has recovered it."

"It's a good plan," Peter agreed.

"Where do we want to send him?" Bryce mused. "Peter, put together a request for resources and work with Diana to choose a location for our red herring. I'm going to take Mozzie and go talk with Chuck. Remember not to mention anywhere that it is a red herring. Pretend that the chosen location is the one where the evidence is held."

The team grinned at each other. Because the plan was coming together but also because Bryce was a surprisingly good boss.
