Notes: This chapter feels more like 'tell' than 'show' to me but let me know how it feels from a reader's side of things? I like the idea of just having everyone in the same room for once. Also, this is not the last chapter but next chapter might be.

James paused, heart thudding in his chest. He knew he was being watched and it was why he was planning to get out of New York.

"And here I thought it was the FBI following me," he commented. He turned to face Senator Pratt. What the man was doing in a local park late at night wasn't good.

"The FBI was following you. They seem to be taking a break."

"You used them to get to me?"

"White Collar's new boss might have been a surprise but he's not nearly experienced enough to deal with us."

"I heard you had the last boss fired. How'd that work out for you, Terry?"

"Well enough. It got me you. Last time I saw you, you were disgracing a police captain's uniform."

"You took away 30 years of my life, and I'm taking back 30 of yours." James placed a hand on the concealed gun he had in his pants.

"You've always made bad decisions, Jimmy."

"And you're still a piece of garbage."

"So you'll shoot me?"

"You'd be dead if I were."

"Please, all that will do is land you right back in prison."

"We both want the same thing," James said quietly. "Stop the box from controlling our lives."

"Is this a proposal, Jimmy?"

"Whatever keeps your guys from killing me and me out of prison. I get you the evidence, you destroy what you want, I destroy what I want and we both go on with our lives."

Pratt paused for a moment. "You don't know where the evidence is, I'd be better off continuing to go after it myself. You have nothing to offer me."

James' face went red. "So are you going to do anything to me?"

Pratt raised his phone. "All I have to do is call the police."

James raised his gun to fire, the sound of a shot ringing out. He cursed, his gun dropping to the ground. James didn't wait to see who had shot him and bolted into the park trees.

"I can't believe you made that shot," Peter said in a pleasant voice as he strolled through the garden.

"I told you, I might not like guns but I know how to shoot." Bryce followed Peter out, wincing as a branch almost clipped his jacket.

Pratt clapped his hands. "Well done, Caffrey. I appreciate the protection."

"Then I'm sure you'll appreciate this as well. We'll have to ask you to come with us."

"I don't think you should deal with me, considering that was your father."

Bryce nodded.

"That is a fair point, Senator," Peter said, stepping in front of Bryce. "Neal and I will be returning to the office. Agents French and Kelly from Organised Crime will escort you to the office."

Agents French and Kelly waved. Both agents wouldn't have looked out of place in a gang, if they weren't wearing suits with FBI badges around their necks.

James was waiting at June's. June's maids were able to give his wound some care and he could try one last time to get Neal doing what he needed.

"Pratt just attacked me!" he cried as soon as Neal entered the room. He grit his teeth when he saw Peter shadowing after Neal.

Neal and Peter shared a look. "Actually, Neal is the one who shot you," Peter explained.

James' heart stopped. Neal was supposed to be one of those non-violent idiots, it was one of the few reasons he approached him.

"And Peter's the one who is going to arrest you."

Peter glared at Neal. "I'm what?"

"Or I can ask Jones. Or Diana?"

Peter sighed and pulled out a set of handcuffs.

"Why are you arresting me? Pratt is dirty-"

"And if so, you will be released with our apologies," Neal said, his tone sounding so much like an agent that James had to do a double take.

Bryce walked into the room, FBI badge around his neck.

"Let's get this catch up and briefing over with," he said, slapping a file onto the table and sitting down next to Agent Ruiz. Across from them sat Chuck and Sarah. Peter was at the head of the table, by Bryce's request.

Other agents involved, including Diana and Jones, were sitting along the table.

"So he says, having bagged us a senator and a man who had been on the run for 30 years," Ruiz muttered angrily.

"It's what he does," Chuck said with a pleasant smile.

"Ignore Agent Carmichael," Bryce said firmly. "He is here for this meeting and nothing else."

"Scared I'll tell the FBI some of your deepest, darkest secrets?" Chuck asked, wiggling his eyebrows. "Like that one time after you pulled an all nighter, trying to beat that one videogame and then in class-"

"Sarah."

"Sorry Chuck," Sarah said, reaching over and covering her husband's mouth. "But now is not the time."

The shoulders of more than one agent slouched.

"We are here for a purpose," Bryce reminded them. "And a wrap up." He nodded at Peter and sat down.

"As some of you know, Bryce recently lost someone close to him. Upon her death, Ellen ensured that Neal Caffrey, Bryce's undercover identity, would come into possession of items that would lead to finding evidence that could solve a 30 year old case."

"One that was recorded as closed as James Bennett took the fall for a whole department of dirty cops," Ruiz pointed out.

"He wasn't innocent but he wasn't the ringleader either," Peter agreed. "Now, we have collected the evidence that will allow us to charge him and everyone else involved."

"Which includes Senator Pratt," Diana pointed out.

Peter and Ruiz nodded.

"Organised Crime is going to work on collaring the rest. White Collar will get credit for Pratt and Bennett," Bryce announced. "Team Carmichael's credit is limited to evidence gathering as they are outside contractors."

"Aw."

"Chuck, we don't work for the FBI, it's not like we can get a pay rise."

"You will get a bonus though. I really thought Pratt might figure it out," Bryce pointed out. "I do have enough saved up from my previous job to do so."

"From being a conman?" one agent called out in disbelief. Whether it's from Bryce having the money or for Bryce's previous occupation being a conman.

"Conmen make a lot of money when not caught, it's why people do it. But no, my other job."

"Don't worry about it," Sarah said with a smile. The agent slouched back in their seat. Sarah stood up. "Now, Chuck and I were called in to locate the evidence as Ellen hasn't just handed it off to Neal but handed him clues. We located it this morning and quickly passed it into FBI hands."

"Meanwhile, Pratt was looking into the building that Jones and Diana had been researching on FBI time and harassing James," Peter said.

"Why wouldn't he? He thought he knew where the evidence was. He also knew where James Bennett was because the FBI was watching him as well. He just had to get rid of the last person who concretely knew about his involvement."

"I don't like that a Senator was somehow able to access FBI information," Ruiz muttered.

"I'll put it in the Monday meeting agenda."

"You better, Larkin."

"Senator Pratt is currently in custody. As is James Bennett. The evidence is being processed and Chuck's team has copies if something happens to the evidence. Agent Ruiz, is your team ready to go make some arrests?"

Ruiz nodded.

"Excellent. Chuck, if your team could provide Agent Ruiz's with a list of suspects and Agent Jones will pass them the warrant we arranged as soon as the evidence was submitted. Any questions before we close this meeting?"

Agents were either silent or shook their heads.

"Perfect."

"So, who wants to celebrate?" Diana asked when it was only Chuck's team and White Collar in the room.
