Temperance Brennan liked the silence.

She liked solitude, as she had been his companion for several years.

When she was alone fiddling with her papers to file, she could hear her thoughts.

Currently she was afraid of Booth's decision.

Had she pushed him too hard?

Had she pushed him too far?

She was feeling confused..

Did she just ask for Joy or for her too?

She asked only for Joy,totally without any second intention.

Joy was totally in love with Booth, she and Parker were making plans for when their "Dad" came for them and they were already practically like brothers.

She was worried about her daughter's feelings if he said no.

She took a deep breath and looked at the photo that was now on her desk, a photo taken from her weekend with Parker, the two young men hugging and smiling at her.

They looked so beautiful together and despite having no biological connection, they did look a little bit.

A lady told her that she had beautiful children, she didn't correct, she just smiled and thanked him.

Parker was like hers and Joy was his daughter.

And then she thought as she looked at the photo.

She was for most of Booth's life.

She was friends with her son and knew her ex and had a good relationship with her.

She knew Popps and called him occasionally a few times a month and made sure he had everything he needed. (And she knew Hannah didn't know him, and she found it comforting)

She was his medical attorney and he was hers.

She knew all the little and insignificant things about Booth like the pen he liked, the way he liked his coffee and how he did it when he was nervous.

She knew everything about Seeley Booth.

She was an expert on Seeley Booth.

She loved Booth.

And He knew that.

—Hey Bones, lunchtime.

She looked up from the photograph and looked at him.

There he was, materialized directly from his thoughts.

—How did you know I didn't have lunch? (She asked curiously as she stood up)

Angela watched the scene in front of them and despite the circumstances, they found a beautiful scene of the small family.

Joy ended up falling asleep in a few minutes, she was tired after having fun with Hoddings and her crying.

She slept on Booth's lap, with the small streaks of dry tears on her small face.

Booth laid her down on the sofa if Temperance and Temperance covered her with a small blanket.

She nodded and saw him leave the office.

He released her and then smiled and walked away.

Temperance Bent down beside the sleeping daughter.

—I promise that no one will ever hurt you again. (Temperance Said he murmured and patted her hair.) Me and Booth,your dad promised that and we hardly broke our promises, especially one made for you.
