Hey alligators!Just a sweet and distressed moment with our favorite familyThanks for the sweet comments. And yes, soon Hannah will get out of their lives.Hope you like itLove you,Guys.
Joy was petrified with fear.
As soon as she got into Booth's car she covered her ears tightly and closed her eyes, huddled against Temperance who had sat in the back seat with her, while Parker stood in the front seat watching them both.
She took several deep breaths as she tried to dispel the feeling of disgust, hatred and fear.
Her arm burned where the woman touched, she felt disgusting and she was ready to throw up.
Temperance caressed her back, making circles slowly and keeping her own breathing calm for the girl to imitate, she knew what was going on, Joy was having a panic attack.
She realized that Joy stopped breathing for two more exhales and inhales, she was losing focus.
—JJ( Temperance said softly and planted a kiss on her head)can you look at me? And can you breathe with me please?
Joy removed her hands from her ears and opened her bleary eyes, still not looking at her mother, trying to imitate her breathing.
She then put her hand where the woman touched it and squeezed it hard.
—She touched me. (She explained as she squeezed her own arm) It burns, it's disgusting.
Temperance took her hand away and turned her so that she was facing her and placed both hands of the girl on her chest and passed her hand where the woman touched it.
—When we get home, you can take a shower, but don't get hurt.
—Okay.(she whispered.)
Parker was watching closely, it was the first time he had seen such a terrified child.
How could anyone have hurt Joy like that?
He knew that children could be hurt, but how could anyone have done that to his sister?
He would ask his mother later.
When Booth got back in the car he sat next to Temperance in the back seat.
They exchanged a brief look of understanding.
As soon as Joy saw booth, she started crying desperately
She had a safe haven now.
She knew it was an irrational fear and that someone would protect her.
But everything was spinning in her head memories and new things like a hurricane and she couldn't hold back the tears.
She hugged Temperance and let out muffled screams against Temperance's shoulder.
—Its All right, it's over baby..do not go back there. (Booth said while stroking her back) We are here, you are safe.they will never touch you again.
Something popped inside her and she straightened up and faced him.
—She..She was here and she touched me! (She said with disgust as she put a hand against her arm) As he did..he touched me and he hurt me and she saw .. (She screamed angrily and looked at both) She knew! I begged, I asked for help and nothing happened and she knew! She knew and did nothing!
Booth and Temperance looked at each other at a loss, hardly knowing what to do.
They were so hateful of those two.
Booth wanted to shoot them.
Temperance had thought of so many techniques to kill them and disappear with their bodies ...
How could anyone inflict such pain on such a small and sweet human being?
They didn't know what to do, but they made their lives hell.
—We are here now, no one else will touch you, we promise. (Temperance Said)
—We are going to be together and nothing is going to happen (Booth spoke and kissed his forehead) we will listen to you, we will take care of you.
—We love you. (Temperance whispered calmly to her)
She managed to calm down briefly. Taking a deep breath and sinking the memories into the back of her mind.
Her parents were there, they were both petting her and whispering words of comfort.
And then something flashed in his mind.
A very persistent doubt.
—And when you are not? (She said) At school, you cannot stay, nor can anyone I trust. (Joy whispered looking at their hands that had not left her chest if her mother)
—Let's think about something.(Booth said and pulled a lock of her hair back)
Parker felt helpless at that moment, but upon hearing his sister's doubt, he decided to act.
After all, his new job was to protect and care for his little sister.
—I stay.(Parker spoke for the first time and jumped into the back seat, getting cramped between them) We go to the same school and I stay in the same room as you need to, I will take care of you, you are my little sister and I will always protect you.
Joy was silent for a while, looking at him.
She loved having an older brother.
And then he asked:
—But you need to study too, how are you going to know that I need you in another class? (She said and crossed her arms over her chest.)
Parker smiled and held out his hand to her and she held it.
—Let's think about something.like a code. (He looked at his father) When she goes to school, I want to go to the same one as hers.
—Let's talk to your mother first.(Booth said proudly and kissed his son's head)I'm proud of you.(He whispered to the boy who smiled.)
—I know a code for you. (Temperance said and wiped Joy's tears.)
—What? (Parker asked curiously)
—Have you ever played Marco Polo, Joy?"
—No, what is it?
—It's like a tag, but in the water and you have to shout "Marco" and the other responds to you and then you go after her with your eyes closed.
— Let's play in the summer! (Parker said) I like that and you?
—'Kay.(she whispered and laid her head on Temperance's shoulder) but I don't like the pool.
—You don't have to be in a pool. (Booth said) we can do this at home.
She gave a brief smile and nodded.
And then Parker said
—Marco? (Parker asked)
—Polo.(Joy said and shook her brother's hand.)
And they would protect her.
••••
Although she calmed down in the car, as soon as she entered the apartment and took her bath Joy was silent.
She sat in a corner of the sofa, she curled up in the chosen corner and didn't move.
Parker tried everything to get the girl out of her stole, but she didn't care much and remained there in silence.
Booth and Brennan also tried to get her to speak, but she remained quiet and listless.
After lunch Booth took Parker to Rebecca, as he and Bones would have to focus all their attention on their youngest daughter.
He explained to his son why he was going home early and of course Parker readily understood. At that moment Joy was the priority.
He didn't even bother to look at his cell phone, he knew he needed to be close to his daughter.
- Any changes? (He asked as he entered the apartment)
—no.(She sighed) She doesn't speak, she doesn't want to move. I think it would be prudent to call Sweets.
Booth sat down and noticed Temperance's sad face if Temperance, he sighed and hugged her and then released her.
—She'll be fine, she'll be able to get over it.
—Don't forget things like that ... (Temperance murmured) When someone touches you ... brand. (She looked away at the floor) It's forever.
Booth nodded. He could still imagine himself small at the mercy of his drunk father.
Don't forget, just ignore it.
—It's like a burn ... (Joy murmured and got off the couch and walked over to them) or a ghost ... is there forever.
They nodded and Temperance picked Joy up.
—We all have ghosts Joy. (Temperance said as she hugged her daughter)
—Even you and Dad?" (She whispered hoarsely from disuse) but you are very strong.
—We have many( Booth said)
She looked at Booth who nodded when he saw the intention in her eyes and then the three went to the couch and sat down.
—What happened to you? (Joy asked curiously now)
Booth looked at her Temperance and held her hand to pass her security, and it worked and then she started talking.
—Well, I was abandoned by my parents on Christmas when I was 14, my older brother abandoned me and then I fell into the system. (Temperance said while stroking Joy's hair)
—That's why you take such good care of me? (She asked) Why do you know the bad things they do in shelters?
—Yes. (She said sadly) and now as an adult I have new ghosts ... (She took a deep breath) I was buried alive, with Dr. Hoddings a few years ago, your father saved me.
Joy's eyes widened and she made a perfect Oh with her mouth.
—But you are so strong! It is impossible! (Joy said and turned to look at Booth) Did you save her?
—Yes. (He said) It was scary, but we made it.
Joy nodded and then gave her mother a strong hug, she wanted to be strong like her.
And then she looked at Booth.
—What about you, Dad? What happened?
He didn't like to talk much about the past, but he knew it was necessary.
—My father was a bad man, he drank a lot and beat me, my brother and not my mother, my mother abandoned us with our father and if my grandfather, pops, had not shown up I would have made a mistake.
—I already had a drunken foster parent. (Joy said understandingly) It's too bad… is there more?
—There are other things, but I think you already know enough to know that you get over things, no matter how bad it is. (He said and pulled her onto his lap)
—Do they ever go away? (Joy asked as she snuggled into her father's arms)
—No, but when you have people who love you, you understand by their side, the ghosts are hidden. (He said and held Temperance's hand) They are look very small.
Temperance nodded even though he knew it was unreal.
She sighed and laid her head on Booth's shoulder as he wrapped his free arm around her.
—Your father is very good with ghosts from the past.(Temperance said and closed his eyes for a moment, then opened and looked at his daughter.) He scared most of me ... made me see things from another angle.
—Your mom is good at that too.(Booth said and gave Bones a little squeeze on the shoulder) Let's be together and as long as we are together, nothing bad is going to happen to either of us.
Joy smiled and leaned her head on her father's shoulder, who had a hand on his back, just as his hand rested below his.
She was feeling so tired because of everything that happened in the morning that she was finally falling asleep.
But because I was in a safe place.
We your parents' arms.
—We are a family,We are Ghostbusters too. (She whispered sleepily) Marco ..
—Polo. (Temperance and Seeley said together)
