Episode 61: Lost Dreams

Ace, Tech and Rev were still looking for Dan in the warehouse, inspecting every spot with their glare while taking careful steps. They were approaching the bottom of the room, Dan was slowly following them from behind the racks, and when they almost reached the wall, Dan suddenly jumped from his hiding place with his hands glowing, shooting acid at them with no hesitation, screaming enraged. Ace had reacted rapidly and he began to shoot his laser vision at the same time, their powers clashed, the laser from Ace's eyes pushed the acid that was exiting from Dan's hands, and vice versa, creating a transparent, green and red wall right in the meeting point of the two attacks. Ace gasped and groaned with effort while holding Dan's attack, same as the hyena.

Darcy was walking cautiously towards Tech and Rev, with her power ready. She backed her hand when being at an adequate distance to shoot, glaring at Tech with a frown, determined to attack. Rev, who was a few steps ahead of Tech, looked back and gasped when seeing Darcy. "Tech, behind y…!"

Tech turned and gasped when seeing Darcy aiming at him, she shot acid at him, hitting his arm by his tardy reaction. Tech screamed intensely by the pain of his melting arm and got over his knees, looking up at Darcy who was walking towards him. "This is your end! Loonatics!" Darcy exclaimed while raising her hand menacingly, glowing green.

Tech groaned and let out a gasp of pain. "You know how…" He groaned again. "…many times we've heard that before?"

Rev was just standing behind Tech, noticing he was hiding his regenerating arm behind his back, wanting to let him apply whatever trap he had for her. Darcy backed her arm and clenched her fist, frowning at Tech. "Let's see if you can talk after I melt that snout of y..."

Tech felt his arm had fully regenerated, so he manipulated the first metallic object he sensed in the place and rapidly moved his hand towards her. Darcy's gasp of surprise and her face of shock and disbelief lasted briefly as the big, heavy battery that Tech controlled hit her strongly on the head. She fell down, laying over the floor with green blood coming out from the wound on her head. Tech stopped using his powers and just dropped the battery, then he got into his feet and walked towards Darcy followed by Rev.

Ace and Dan were still shooting their respective powers, not having seen the event that had occurred just behind. Ace was getting exhausted, he was sweating as well as Dan, they were almost taking their powers to the limits. The clashing point of the laser and the acid started to get opaque, the lava like drips that came from the translucent wall started to glow more and more. Ace let out a gasp of exhaustion and with a scream of great effort he shot his laser more strongly, which went through the constant acidic shot and rapidly reached Dan's hands. A reaction then occurred between the two powers and an orangey, glowing explosion happened right in front of Dan, the room's inside got illuminated for a couple of seconds, the expansive wave sent Dan onto the bottom's wall, making him to hit it strongly and fall down with his back rested against it. Ace gasped when falling over the floor, as the wave had also hit him, but a bit more gently.

The light of the explosion disappeared, Ace coughed and slowly got into his feet, looking at Dan, who was still resting against the wall, so he walked towards him and stopped his steps right before him. Dan was breathing in and out brokenly, looking at himself, as from several cuts over his body green blood flowed with no cease, he glared up at Ace who was looking at him with pity. Dan slowly started to look away, focusing on a corner of the ceiling, a great amount of blood began to come out from his mouth. He gave his final couple of blinks, then his eyes just lost all color and life.

Ace stood there for a moment then he sighed and turned, walking towards his comrades, who were with Darcy, staying over one knee in front of her. "Is she…?" Ace just left the phrase unfinished when approaching them.

Tech had two fingers over her neck, he shook his head and got his hand away from her, looking at his boss. "She is dead." He stood up along with Rev. Ace looked at Darcy for a moment, she had her eyes closed, then he looked at Dan, as well as Tech and Rev.

"He is gone too." Ace said.

"So, it's over?" Rev inquired, looking at the dead siblings with pity.

Ace delayed a bit to answer. "It's over, Rev." He looked at his comrade then at Tech. "That's all."

Lexi and Slam were teaming up to deal with the last of the workers, he was grabbing them and throwing them and Lexi was shooting her brain blast at them while they were still on the air, neutralizing them effectively. "Why don't they lose their powers already?!" Lexi complained while shooting.

"I know!" Duck replied while teleporting constantly to avoid their attacks. "You stop…" He threw an orb at a worker, who groaned and fell to the ground unconscious. "…you stop…" He did the same with another one. "…I want to say I got all the night left but I want to go to sleep already!" While he was cooking another pair of orbs, two workers approached him from behind and pushed him. Duck fell and groaned when his face hit the ground then he turned and gasped when seeing the two workers readying their powers and aiming at him. He began to drag himself backwards, as he was still on the ground. "Oh, hey, uhm…we can talk about this like adults and sort it o…" He covered his face with his arm when the workers pretended to shoot at him already. He was trembling, expecting his demise, but when nothing happened, he opened one eye then looked at his adversaries with confusion, same as they were doing with themselves, moving their hands towards him, trying to attack. The color of their fur began to go back to normal, their glow slowly disappeared completely. The wolf's fur was gray again and the cheetah's spots looked just normal, just as their clothes. They looked at Duck with their eyes widened. Duck smirked cockily and stood up, thundering his fingers while looking at them menacingly. "So, you still don't want to talk?" He raised an eyebrow while cooking an orb. The wolf and the cheetah just gulped.

Lexi and Slam got at Duck's side, crossing their arms while looking at the rest of the workers around them losing their powers. "Well, I guess the plan worked." Lexi stated, Slam replied with a growl of concurrence.

Rev arrived quickly with a rush and looked at the same scene, Ace and Tech met with them with the help of their jetpacks, landing among them. "Yeah, that's my girl!" Tech celebrated when seeing the worker's powers fading out.

Ace contemplated the scene for a moment then looked at his comrades. "We're done here, Loonatics." Ace said. "Let's go home."

The next day, at the late afternoon, the team was sitting at the lounge of the HQ watching 'The Igniter' movie marathon Ace had proposed Tech back at 'The Station', Tech had invited Susan so she was sitting next to him, sharing a bowl of popcorn with him. Duck had took over a whole couch just for him, having a bowl of popcorn too, also, just for him. Rev was sitting next to Slam, being bothered by his sudden snores as he had gotten bored already, and the franchise was just beginning. Rev hit him slightly with his elbow and Slam reacted with a punch, hitting Rev's side, sending him to the floor after a gasp of fright. Slam was still asleep.

"Everything okay, guys?" Ace raised an eyebrow.

Rev stood up while rubbing his side then he slowly sat down again, a bit further from Slam. "Yeah, all good." Rev replied with a groan.

Ace chuckled. "Alright." He kept watching the film, attentive just as Lexi.

"And now, with the Death Machine just at my grasp, the entire universe shall fall before me! With just a single click, agent Hunter!" The black suited, albino ferret yelled from behind a console, inside a blue, dome shaped structure.

"What you don't know is…" Agent Hunter, a skunk who wore a black T-shirt and black shorts, was taking cover behind a column, as the ferret was pointing at him with a gun. "...that I'm always one step ahead, Mr. Cavalry." He pressed a button on his watch. Mr. Cavalry's ear twitched when hearing a beeping noise, he looked at the console's screen and gasped when seeing the self-destruction countdown at zero, then a gigantic explosion occurred. After a few seconds, a shadow was seen running from inside the explosion, then it got closer to the screen, revealing it was Agent Hunter running safely from the mess.

"Come on! That's just so over the top! Like, is that man bulletproof or something?" Duck complained, gesturing at the TV.

"Because he is Tom Le Pew and he is awesome, Duck! You don't need more explanations." Lexi replied with a defensive tone.

The skunk was now in a small, dark blue room. "Now the universe is safe thanks to you, Agent Hunter." The agent's boss, a middle aged great dane dog who wore a blue tuxedo moved sidewards, revealing a door behind him, which opened automatically. "Ready for your next mission?" The agent's eyes widened and the next shot showed a black spacesuit, with a jetpack and weapons attached to the arms.

"Really?! Oh you gotta be kidding me!" Duck complained again.

"Duck!" Everyone said.
