Creation of Abyss

Noises from mumbles, printing papers, and ringing of phones covered the police department but Shikamaru's mind is still in a euphoric phase after their kiss last night. He rubbed his fingers across his lips, reminiscing how soft and sweet her lips were while sitting in his swivel chair in their department.

A big corkboard was installed in one of the empty walls of their office room, and pieces of paper, pictures, and printed image of evidence from the night scythe's case was displayed and attached to the board. It has red and blue strings connected to each of evidence for the detectives easily track the sequences.

Suddenly, Kakashi entered their room with a bundle of papers in his hand and stands in front of the big corkboard in their office. He cleared his throat and knocked on the wooden table to get everyone's attention.

"Hi. I hope you are all not busy, I'll just have to announce something….important"

All of them moved their body to Kakashi's side, gaining all their attention as he was about to announce something from the night scythe's case.

"Here's the picture of the potential people behind the devil we called, the night scythe. We have five potential suspects"

He attached the mugshot of Gaara as their first suspect.

"I actually announced this one last time. You already heard about him so there's not much to talk about. He's our first suspect"

He attached another picture of the suspect. A gray-haired man in his mid-fifties with scars on his left eye.

"Our second suspect is Hiroshi Fujiwara. He's a drug dealer from Kumogakure and has a record of stabbing a girl from their village, thankfully she was alive. Served his sentence for 30 years then migrate to Konoha last year around October, where the first killing occurred"

Then the second image was lifted from the table. A picture of an orange-haired girl with heavy makeup in her late thirties was attached to the corkboard.

"Anzu Tsuda. She owned a nightclub before but was bankrupted after a year. Her neighbors always heard Anzu shouting about killing all the bitches and whores who worked in the nightclub or something like that. She also has a record of cutting one of the customer's balls, the reason why her club bankrupt"

After placing her picture, he lifted another one from the table and presented it in front. A young man in his early twenties wearing glasses, his hair is short and jet black parted in two.

"Kiyo Suda. A college student who always come to clubs, faking his ID when he was still fifteen. Addicted to drugs and alcohol. There's an incident where he punched one of the night workers and told them that he was going to kill her. That girl was Akari from the Faux Love Tavern, our first victim"

He lifted the last picture from the set. An image of a familiar blonde-haired girl with teal eyes caught Shikamaru's attention the most.

"Temari from Suna. Suna has this no last name system so we just called her Temari"

"Wait…Wait, why is she there!?" Shikamaru opposed while he pointed his finger at the paper attached to the corkboard that he wanted to crumble and tear into pieces.

Kakashi pinched the skin between his brows and sighed. He anticipated his reaction after showing his lover's face as one of the potential suspects "Her background was a little suspicious. I'll explain why she's on one of the lists. Don't worry Shikamaru, we're not going to harm this person. We just need to keep an eye on them"

"Shikamaru, don't let your feelings consume your judgment" Neji spoke

He gripped his hand tightly, shaking away all his tension.

"Well, there are a few things that made her a little suspicious when she moved to our village. Her background was completely erased, and Suna didn't want to release anything from her family, since they didn't have the last name system it's really hard to track her roots if we work for it independently. She came here last October, the same month when the first victim was killed. Most of the victims were the top performers of their clubs and Temari is the top performer of Konoha's burlesque. Gossip about wiping out all her competitors starts to spread after Hiraya's death. As of today, Temari is the village's top night performer as per statistics since Hiraya was now gone. I have to remind you that this is still not proven but it's better to keep an eye on these suspects" Kakashi explained

Their gazes peeked at Shikamaru, trying to see his expression and decode what was running through his mind after attaching the piece of paper that has Temari's image and posting it on their corkboard.

Deep inside his mind, Shikamaru knows it's not her and will never be. If he could only tell the room that she's more fragile than what they thought to be a threat to society but they wouldn't understand that. He knows her more than the people inside that room.

He's afraid about her safety more than frightened about her being the suspect in this crazing serial killer case in this village. The sharp sound of their swivel chairs returning to their desk echoed throughout the room, that's the queue that Kakashi's meeting concluded. But Shikamaru's eyes fixed on the big corkboard that was displayed on the wall. The paper that was flipping from the wind coming from a fan made an irritating nose through his ears.

He wanted to tear that paper so badly, Shikamaru will prove to the department that she didn't deserve in the list of potential suspects and will do everything just to clear her name.

….Two girls from Konoha's burlesque are still missing. They were seen last Tuesday after performing their introduction at the said club. The two girls didn't attend their next performance and were deemed missing the next day.

The news reverberated from the radio inside the white-colored garage.

Two bodies were laid on the floor begging for mercy, their hands covered by the injury they received from the killer. A big slash from their neck and a stab in their chest created a pool of blood on the floor.

"Where are you? I cannot find you" the killer spoke in a low and masculine voice

Groaning and moaning from the two girls echoed in the background.

"Where the fuck is your sister!? Gaara"

"Where are you, blondie?"

It's been months since he couldn't find their sister. After he found out that it was not only Gaara and Kankuro who were siblings, and that they have another one who stayed in Suna.

The killer did various research on them, one of the phone conversations Kiba had was with their sister. He was afraid that Kiba spilled the secret they had to Kankuro and to his siblings, and this lead him to kill them all.

Unfortunately, he wasn't able to find Gaara and their sister. He didn't even know her name, or where she works. The killer traveled to Suna to gather more information about the siblings, eavesdropping on every citizen in the village, and following the people who they grew up with. He found out that they are a well-known family and their scandal about the killing in Konoha was quite controversial in there.

Someone suddenly spilled a word from one of the bars he went to that their sister was now working as a night entertainer in one of the clubs in Konoha. So, he immediately went back and starts to hunt every night entertainer in the club.

At first, he just killed every night entertainer but found out that their sister is blonde. After hearing one of the past phone conversations between Kankuro and Kiba from his phone. The killer had a good grasp of the image of their sister when Kankuro was describing her to Kiba. Still, he haven't reached any phone conversation that included their sister's name.

His gaze glanced at the two blonde girls on the floor. They were still not her.
