L watched his imposter recite his lines over and over again as they went region by region trying to discover Kira's location. At first he thought he just got the region wrong but then the "live worldwide broadcast" had been played all throughout Japan. Either L had been wrong about his suspicions of Kira being Japanese or Kira has decided not to kill the L on TV. Perhaps Kira is not as ruthless as L originally thought, perhaps he really only targets criminals.

Still, L was already in Tokyo so he should probably stay just in case. In the meantime, he told Watari to do one final live broadcast, this time worldwide with the exception of Japan. If anything happened to Taylor in this final broadcast L would admit his mistake and start his search for Kira outside of Japan. If nothing happened to Taylor, he'd start a search throughout Japan.

I'll find you, killer. I've caught more criminals than you've murdered, and you'll join them soon enough.

Haruto sat in his class thinking about L. The mysterious man that wants him and his brother killed. Ironic how if they were caught they'd be put to death. Kira's a villain, going around killing criminals. Only the government gets to do that.

Admittedly, Haruto's reasons for joining his brother aren't entirely noble. Sure, he always wanted bad people to be punished. With his father being a police officer, Haruto heard a lot about sick and twisted people are developed a hatred for them early one, but it's not just about them.

Kira could do more than Haruto Yagami ever could. No matter what he does, he'll always be the twin of a prodigy. That Yagami name will stick to him like glue. But Kira doesn't have that. Kira's just Kira. Kira has no societal expectations placed on them. Being Kira is being free. Free from his parents' expectations and being free to shape the world in whatever way he wants. Along with his brother, who Haruto loves.

The only downside is this fucking shinigami.

"Get out of my room, Ryuk." Haruto tossed his bag on the floor and walked to his computer.

"Light's not home."

"I wasn't home when you came in my room."

"Anyway," Ryuk ignored the comment while scarfing down a green apple. "What are you doing on that computer?"

"Researching Kira. My parents don't know how to check the network so I can do anything I want online as long as it's not illegal. And last time I checked curiosity isn't a crime so there's nothing suspicious about me just searching Kira."

"What do you hope to find?"

"Just looking for some general information about what people think. We already have supporters with multiple forums and websites. And maybe our international supporters can provide some info on Kira's influence outside of Japan."

A Kira update site. It shows the alleged kill count of Kira as well as how many countries they've reached. They also have a follower count which is just how many people have joined the site. Nearly 1000. Impressive. This is a good starting point.

Forum posts.

"L believes Kira's in Japan"

Well, I've gotta click that.

"DISCLAIMER: I am in no way affiliated with L and don't know anybody affiliated with L, this is speculation based on how me and some international friends have seen the Kira investigation in our countries."

Yeah, I guessed this wasn't from a reliable source. Still, it's good to know how Kira's viewed outside of Japan.

"So, I'm Korean. Kira's killed a decent amount of Korean criminals (thank you, Kira!) but the media doesn't acknowledge him. That was until yesterday. In case you don't know there was an international live broadcast where L revealed himself as a man called Lind L. Taylor. He went on about how Kira's evil, he'll bring him to justice, whatever. But what's interesting is that this happened to my friend who's studying in Japan before it happened to me in Korea. She called me and told me to check the news because they said it was live around the world but I went through every channel and there was nothing."

"Ryuk!" Haruto called.

"Oh, now you want me."

"Only because I can't tell Light and want to share it now. I haven't read the full thing yet but it seems that the live broadcast that was supposedly all around the world was done at different times in different countries."

"Couldn't they have just wanted people to see it at a reasonable time?"

"That would make sense if it wasn't for the fact that Korean time is the same as Japanese time. So why air it in Korea at a different time than in Japan?"

"Maybe L's figured you two out." Ryuk teased. "Your first kills were mostly Asian. Maybe he already knows you're Japanese."

"But we've been so careful to spread them out as much as we can. Unless we made some sort of mistake."

Before Haruto could get back to reading the rest of the post, his bedroom door was opened by his little sister Sayu.

"Hoshi! Can you help me with my homework? Light's not home yet and I don't understand this."

"You must be really desperate if you're asking me for help. What kind of homework?"

"Math."

"I'm gonna need the internet's help here. Go grab Light's desk chair from his room and let's figure this out together."

As Sayu left Haruto closed his tab before opening another for Google. Kira and Haruto had to take a break and Hoshi had to come out to be a good big sister.
