Chapter 3
Olympian Throne Room Mt Olympus BC??
Percy sighed loudly as he saw the forked lightning flash across the sky and teleported to the throne room. He could literally predict what would happen. First, Zeus would accuse him of killing his son Heracles, which he would admit to. Then the council would go into an uproar with the likes of Zeus and Ares demanding for him to be punished, whilst Poseidon and Hestia would be more level-headed and ask him why he killed the demigod. His answer would get both Artemis and Hera on his side because Artemis hated annoying males and Heracles definitely counted as one and Hera would be angry he tried to cheat on his labours, Then he would play his final card saying that Heracles had challenged him to combat. Zeus would make a fuss but, eventually, lose the argument. Still, even though he knew he was going to win, he didn't have the energy to listen to Zeus being dumb. Perseus watched as thirteen different flashes of light appeared in the throne room announcing the arrival of the other Olympians. It was immediately obvious that no one wanted to be summoned, and the most vocal gods were Poseidon and Hades.
"What do you want, airhead? Poseidon and I both have kingdoms to run." Hades grumbled from his throne, followed by a nod of agreement from Poseidon.
Giving the pair a glare, Zeus began to address the other gods in the room.
"My fellow Olympians, I have called you all here today to discuss the crimes and punishment of Perseus," Zeus said. Suddenly, both Poseidon and Hades became much more interested in the meeting.
"And please lord Zeus tells me what horrendous crime have I committed," Perseus said with a roll of his eyes.
"You killed my favourite son, Heracles!." Zeus yelled. "You must be punished!" That statement got the attention of all the gods. Aphrodite stopped trying to fix her flawless makeup, Apollo stopped fiddling with his lyre, even Hephaestus had stopped tinkering with random parts and looked up from his throne. As usual, the ever peaceful Hestia tried calming Zeus down.
"I'm sure Perseus had a perfectly valid reason to murder your son Zeus. It is not in his nature to act irrationally." Hestia said as she shot Percy a warm smile, which he returned gratefully.
"Well then explain yourself," Zeus demanded whilst still glaring at Percy.
"Well, there isn't really too much to explain. There are three reasons why killed Heracles. One, he cheated on his labours by having someone help him. Two, he tried to rape the maiden that helped him. Three, he challenged me to combat for my armour." Percy said as he counted off the reasons with his finger.
By the time Percy had stopped talking, Zeus knew he had already lost the argument, but that didn't stop him from trying.
"Alright, fine, he deserved to punished, but you didn't have to kill him. Making him redo his labour would have been fine. I vote we punish Perseus for abusing his powers as an Olympian God." Zeus said in a desperate attempt to achieve something from this argument. Surprisingly, it was Athena that spoke out next in favour of Percy.
"I completely disagree, father. Your child was foolish enough to challenge a god and an Olympian at that. That is already punishable by death. The fact that he has two more serious crimes on top of that cannot simply be overlooked."
"Well then. How about we put it up for debate like the civilised democratic council we are." Zeus said, trying to use the vote as a final attempt.
"All in favour of punishing Perseus, raise your hand." Zeus called out. The hands of Zeus, Ares and Aphrodite went up. "All in favour of not punishing Perseus." Every other god put their hands up.
"Well, since we decided to not punish me, Arty and I still have a distressed huntress to visit. Bye." with that Perseus flashed out off the throne room followed by Artemis into the Hunt's camp.
Zoe opened her eyes in confusion as she took in her surroundings. Then memories of what happened came rushing in and the expressions on her faced changed from confusion to shock back to confusion and then relaxed as she realised where she was. She noticed she was in what seemed like an infirmary tent, as there were medical supplies scattered all over the place. The sound of someone entering the tent pulled Zoe out of her thoughts as a young girl with the typical daughter of Ares features walked in.
"So you're awake now." the girl said. "I'm Phoebe."
"I'm Zoe. Nice to meet you." replied Zoe
"So Percy brought you here?"
"Yes, lord Perseus teleported me here."
"And he said you could join the Hunt?"
"Yes he did."
"Well then, welcome to the hunt, sister." Phoebe said as she smiled at the soon-to-be huntress and gestured to the campfire outside.
"Thanks, but don't I have to get permission from lady Artemis first?" Zoe asked confused as the two girls sat down by the fire enjoying its warmth. "Isn't this her Hunt?"
"This is the Hunt of both lady Artemis and lord Perseus. Don't worry though, most things are run by Artemis. Percy only brings new recruits in and hunts with Artemis every once in a while. The other times he's busy managing his other domains, especially the monster one.' Phoebe explained
"So how many other hunters were brought here by Perseus?." asked Zoe she didn't want to be ostracized for being special
"I'd say about a quarter of the current hunt, so 5 hunters, including me."
"So when do I take the oath?"
"When one or both of them come back from the meeting on Mt Olympus."
"Right." Zoe said as she looked down guiltily, realising that the meeting was happening because of her and that Percy could be punished by the council on her behalf.
Both girls suddenly tensed up as they felt the presence of two immortals enter camp before Phoebe relaxed and said to Zoe
"Don't worry, that's just milady and Percy returning from the meeting."
Right on cue, the two Olympians appeared next to the talking hunters.
"You're awake now, Zoe."
"Yes my lord. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, lady Artemis."
"None of that lord stuff, Zoe, just call me Percy like all the other girls. Not every god enjoys formalities like good old air brain." Percy said casually as he flipped a finger to the lightning that followed his statement.
"It's nice to meet you, too, Zoe. Are you ready to take the oath of becoming a huntress?" Artemis asked
"Of course I am, milady."
"Alright then, repeat after me. I, Zoe Nightshade, swear on the Styx to be forever loyal to lady Artemis and lord Perseus and to fight by my sisters for as long as I live."
As soon as Zoe finished chanting the oath, she was surrounded briefly by a silver and black light. When the light vanished, Zoe stood there with a faint silver aura around her and was swamped by the rest of the hunt, who had come to see their new sister to offer congratulations and warm welcomes. Greetings were exchanged and before long Zoe had settled down quite comfortably with her new family.
