Chapter 4
To say Percy was annoyed would be an understatement. He had a headache and was positively pissed. He was on his way to the 50th council meeting this week and was this close from burning down Olympus with Greek fire. Honestly, the three goddesses who have spent the last few days arguing over their looks were just unbelievable. Why would the opinion of a mere mortal prince matter to three Olympians, with one of them being the goddess of Wisdom as well.
'I guess women are just built different or something.' Percy thought to himself, still walking along Olympus' long corridors he wasn't paying much attention to his surroundings and collided into someone and they both fell to the floor.
"Watch where you're going, dammit!" Percy yelled as his headache worsened.
"Jeez cuz what happened to you." Apollo said as he picked himself up.
"I have a killer headache, and we have to go to another meeting and listen to them three argue again." Percy said as he almost rolled his eyes out of his head.
"I feel you, man. At least I can skip the morning ones cause I have to go ride my chariot."
"Aren't you lucky." Percy said through gritted teeth, "Now, can you help me with this headache? Being at the meeting is torture enough, I don't need a headache on top of that."
"Sure thing man. I gotchu." Apollo said as he shot a golden ray towards Percy.
"Thank you, goldie locks," Percy replied as Apollo glared daggers at him.
As the two entered the throne room, Zeus started the meeting.
"Now that Perseus and Apollo are both here, we shall continue our discussion. Have you made a choice, Paris?"
In the middle of the throne room, the detestable prince of Troy was shaking in his boots as all 14 Olympians focused their attention on him.
"Forgive me, lord Zeus, but I have been unable to come to a decision. The three goddesses are simply too beautiful for me to choose between.
"Prince Paris, If you give me that apple and deem me the fairest of all women, I shall bless and make ou the king of all men." Hera said in an attempt to win the prince over. She knew she wasn't as beautiful as Aphrodite or as smart as Athena, so she had to convince Paris she was the best somehow.
Athena realised what Hera was trying to do and already a counter offer ready.
Paris, if you give the apple to me, I will bless you so that whenever you go into battle you will always come out victorious. Think of all the fame and glory you could achieve, all the empires you could conquer."
For a brief moment, Paris was tempted. You could see the greed flash in his eyes as he imagined all the power and wealth he could acquire, but he didn't say anything. Instead, he waited to see if Aphrodite would offer him anything.
"Paris, dear, I will offer something better than either these two boring goddesses can give you. I shall tell you who your true love is and how you can win her heart. In return, you give me the apple. How does that sound?"
This is when Percy decided to speak up.
"Aphrodite, you should know that the ancient laws forbid us from interfering with the lives of mortals. You telling Paris how to win over his lover is direct interference, it's not allowed."
Aphrodite turned her head towards Zeus and batted her eyelashes at him.
"Zeus honey, surely something as insignificant as some love advice wouldn't be breaking the ancient laws right?"
Zeus opened his mouth to speak then closed it, making him look like a gaping fish. He sat on his throne and gathered his thought before he spoke again.
"It's fine Aphrodite it's just some advice, after all it can't do much harm."
Percy couldn't believe what he was hearing. The king of the gods could be swayed so easily by something so simple. He mentally snorted.
'At this point, the titans would have been a better choice. Even if Kronos did eat his kids, the titan council was at least fair in every sense of the word.'
After getting the approval from Zeus, Aphrodite like everyone else in the throne room turned her attention to Paris. Now, no one knows why Paris was so different from every other man. Maybe it was a good thing, maybe not, but that faithful evening he decided to give Aphrodite the apple in return for his true love. Little did he know his actions would lead to one of the most famous wars in all history. All because the prince of Troy picked love over power.
"Can you believe that dumb boy! Out of all the choices, he chose LOVE. Why?" Percy groaned for the fifth time that evening. He was hanging out with Apollo for a bit before he had to resume his duties.
Apollo grunted
"That's good news. At least he gets his soulmate."
"What's the bad news, then?" Percy asked curious
"I just received visions. All of Greece will go to war against the Trojans, tens of thousands of men will die. The Trojans will not exist anymore."
"That's lovely, isn't it. A small genocide. Absolutely wonderful." Percy replied sarcastically.
"I will not let my chosen city fall, I will defend its people to the best of my abilities."
This got Percy's attention. His sea green eyes began to glow slightly as he stared straight into Apollo's electric blue ones.
"You will do no such thing, Apollo. If you or any other god supporting Troy in this war interferes directly in any way, I will withdraw my neutrality and personally assure the Greeks of their victory. The same goes for the Greeks.
"Why Percy?! I can't simply watch them get wiped off the planet. As their patron, I must protect them!"
"This is a mortal war, Apollo. Even if Zeus did not punish you for interfering the fates surely will and besides I said you couldn't interfere directly you can still guide them through dreams and give them advice. But be warned I will be watching this war and if I see any interference I will not tolerate it."
