No one in the room moved for a whole minute. To say they were shocked would be an understatement. Not only did they receive a message from a primordial, who everyone thought was still in deep slumber, and to top it all off it came from Lady Anake of all people, one of the strongest Primordials in the entire Greek pantheon. The emotions from the different Olympians in the room varied from shock to awe and even anger in some cases. Of course, it was Athena, the goddess of wisdom, who recovered first and spoke.
"So does that mean we send Perseus to Tartarus?" she asked tentatively, almost as if she was afraid of the response.
"Of course, we must. This is literally an order from Lady Fate herself, only a fool would disobey it." Surprisingly, this came from Zeus of all people. Not that he was happy about having his authority stripped away, but the difference in power between an Olympian and a Primordial was not something that could simply be ignored, so out of fear for his throne and his life, Zeus decided that he would go along with what Anake said for now. It wasn't like he was completely against the idea anyway. With Perseus out of the way, there was one less Olympian that would stand up against Zeus. Immediately after Zeus finished talking, he found himself staring down at the business end of Poseidon's trident, and he swallowed nervously.
"You will not touch my son Zeus. As long as I'm alive, you won't lay a finger on him." Poseidon growled as he glared at Zeus with unmatched fury in his eyes, causing them to glow an ethereal green, and Zeus involuntarily shivered as he back down slowly on his throne. He knew that Poseidon was actually the strongest of the three siblings in terms of raw power. Their symbols of power were made in a way that complemented their weaknesses. Zeus, being the best with actual combat skills was given his master bolt to boost his powers which were weaker than his brothers. Poseidon who had strong power being able to control pretty much the whole ocean was given a stronger weapon to give him an edge in his combat. Finally, Hades, who didn't really depend on his powers for battle aside from summoning the dead and the occasional ball of energy, was given his helm of darkness to help him attack his enemies psychologically by instilling fear in them.
"The will of a Primordial is not something we can just disobey Poseidon. Even if I wanted to help Perseus, I wouldn't be able to. Nor would anyone else." Zeus said in an attempt to calm Poseidon down.
"And besides, Perseus was clearly the one who helped Achilles gain his invulnerability. Why else would I be able to channel the will of Lady Fate herself? You have been proven guilty by the highest authority, Perseus. Is there anything you want to say in your defence?" Apollo jumped up from his seat with an accusatory tone.
Realising he couldn't talk his way out of this, Percy decided to come clean.
"I was not the one to bathe Achilles in the Styx, but I did provide him with equipment to protect his mortal point. His mother Thetis came to me and asked for a favour, naturally I couldn't say no."
"Well, then it has been decided." declared Zeus. "You will be cast down to Tartarus until further notice from Lady Anake or someone of similar status and stripped of your status as an Olympian. You will be given some time to say your goodbyes. The council will meet again soon in order to cast you to the pit." With that, Zeus disappeared in a flash of lightning.
As soon as Zeus left, Percy was immediately swarmed by his friends and family. Poseidon was the first to reach him. Tears were racing his cheeks as he pulled his into a bone crushing hug.
"It's ok son. One day, I will make Zeus pay for this, then I will cast him too into Tartarus so that he may join you. I swear it." Poseidon said with his fists clenched by his sides so hard that he was drawing ichor.
"Don't dad. This is a small matter, it isn't worth a starting a war over." Percy replied casually, as if going into Tartarus was like a vacation for him.
"What do you mean a small matter?! This is Tartarus we're talking about here. The home of unimaginable horrors. Monsters so ancient that even the titans have forgotten about." Now there was a hint of fear and anxiety creeping into Poseidon's voice as he was consumed by his fear for his son.
"I promise you, dad. I'll come back somehow to see you, mom and Triton again. Don't worry about me, but make sure mom is ok, yeah? I don't want her to be too upset. I'll be back, I swear it on the Styx." This time Percy spoke in a solemn tone as thunder crashed across the sky signally that Styx had heard his oath.
Percy then turned to Artemis who was sobbing silently to the side and gently pulled her into a hug as he placed a chaste kiss on her forehead. " It's alright Arty I'll be back before you even notice I'm missing. Take care of the girls and mum for me, I'll be back soon. Promise." He then pulled out a black and green hair clip from his pocket which glowed for a bit before he gave it to Artemis. "This belonged to Zoe. I've blessed it to always come back to her. Tell her she's supposed to defend herself with it."
Throughout the whole conversation the goddess of the Moon simply embraced Percy as tightly as she could while tears streamed freely down her cheeks not trusting herself to speak. All the remaining Gods simply watched on from the sidelines awkwardly not entirely sure how to comfort with an emotional Artemis. Hestia attempted to provide comfort by using her powers to calm Artemis down and eventually the distressed goddess would be flashed away to her palace as she tired herself out from the tears.
A few hours later Zeus had gathered all the Olympians minus Artemis as they began the spell to send Percy down to Tartarus. Everyone watched tensely as a gaping red hole that looked seemingly never ending appeared in the middle of the throne room. The energy and aura of the pit put all the gods on edge as even the big three shifted uncomfortably where they stood. Slowly but confidently Percy made his way to the edge of the pit. He took a slow look around the room as if wanting to imprint every detail of the room and the assembled gods into his mind. Without a word Percy simply gave everyone a nod before stepping into Hell.
