Somewhere in Tartarus, unknown time

Percy was falling. He didn't know how he'been falling all he could feel was that he was getting weaker as he fell deeper into the pit further and further away from his source of power and the realm of the gods. All around him all he could see was red. The colour dominated everything else as his surroundings blurred by. As he was free-falling leisurely Percy decided to focus on the most pressing matter at hand. How to survive hitting the grounds of Tartarus at an unknown velocity. Even though he was immortal and wouldn't die that didn't mean the landing wouldn't hurt and even if it didn't the former Olympian wasn't particularly looking forward to spending centuries or millennia reforming either. He was so deep in thought he didn't even realise he'd stopped falling.

'Wait a minute, I stopped falling? When did that happen? How was that possible? Gods and even Titans were severely weakened in the pit.' Those were the thoughts running through Percy's mind as he did a mental double take. The red and oppressive atmosphere of Tartarus began to gradually change as Percy's surroundings faded into complete darkness.

"Hello Perseus, we finally meet face to face." A silky voice rang out from the darkness the sound coming from everywhere. As Percy looked around he saw two figures one male and one female melt out of the darkness. Actually that wasn't entirely accurate, it was as if they were the darkness and the dark had simply decided to form physical bodies. Percy's heart pounded while his mind raced to figure out the identity of his visitors. It didn't take him that long to find the answer. The number of deities who could manipulate shadows and the dark could be counted on one hand and there were even fewer who could maintain such a powerful barrier in Tartarus of all places so slowly and very humbly Percy gave a polite bow.

" It is a pleasure to meet you Lady Nyx, Lord Erebus, how can I help the two of you?" Percy asked in a respectful manner not wanting to anger any of the primordials in front of him.

This time it was Erebus who spoke, his voice sounded deeper and richer but just as smooth as his female companion. "We are giving you power Perseus, and in return you will help us defeat Tartarus and Gaia who are both rising again.'

Percy's eyebrows shot into his hairline as he heard the news and couldn't help the twitch of fear that ran through his body as he questioned the primordial of Darkness

"My lord how is that even possible? Didn't the two of them just fall into slumber a few centuries ago?"

Erebus waved his hand dismissively before responding to Percy.

'They won't be able to wake fully or gain a psychical form for a few millennia at least. We're just telling you this now so that you have time to prepare."

Sighing in relief Percy was able to gather his thoughts more calmly as he realised another divine war would not take place so quickly after the Gigiantomachy.

"With all due respect My Lord and Lady but why are you approaching me for help? Surely my father or one of the elder gods would be able to offer more assistance." Sure, Percy knew he was strong more than likely the strongest of all the second generation Olympians, but even he knew he would be hard-pressed to beat the big three or Hestia in a straight one on one fight.

At this Nyx gave a very ungraceful snort before she answered.

"If we gave our powers to anyone else on the council they would have become corrupted except maybe for Hestia, but she is a pacifist by nature and would not likely have the heart to carry out the tasks needed to bring a swift end to the war."

Percy responded with a very eloquent nod of his head.

"I see. So what must I do in order to win the war?"

Nyx stared at Percy with an unreadable expression on her face as the two immortal made eye contact. Percy had to consciously repress a shudder as her pitch black eyes seemed to gaze into his soul.

This is time it was Erebus who spoke in his baritone voice.

"First we will give you our blessings. The benefits of our blessings will give you unmatched control over Darkness, Shadows and the Night. Maybe only Chaos could be better than you at using those powers and even then it would still be a close call. You will be Able to mould the Darkness into anything you want from clothes to weapons, you could even create your own monsters once you become skilled enough. As long as you remain in the Shadows you will be invisible, invincible and untraceable, any wounds you receive during battle will be healed by the Shadows. You will also be able to shadow travel intergalatically as well considering there are shadows everywhere in the multiverses. After we bless you however I'm afraid you're to have to die Perseus. Your current psychical form is too weak to handle that much power, you have to die in order for you to reform in a new body. The process shouldn't take you that long so don't worry about missing any important events and besides, you could always just send a small sliver of your essence into the mortal world to observe the world."

After this moderately lengthy conversation Erebus stopped and looked at Perseus.

"Alright Perseus it's time for you to die now. See you in a few centuries."

Before Percy could even object slightly the pair of primordials blasted him with two beams of pitch black energy and the last thing Percy remembered before dying was the burning pain that coursed through his entire being. After Percy's body had dissolved into golden dust the two primordials once again silently melted back into the shadows.

Olympian Throne Room, A week or so after the banishment of Percy

There was another council meeting, the only things separating this meeting from the countless other useless meeting the council often held was the tense atmosphere and the presence of a demigod son of Zeus called Dionysus. As usual Zeus was the first to speak and address the assembled gods.

"Fellow gods and goddesses we are gathered today because we need to discuss the matter of Perseus and my son Dionysus."

This immediately caused several negative responses from the already unhappy immortals, and as usual when it came to matters concerning his now banished son Poseidon was the first to speak up.

"What more do you want to do Zeus he is already spending the foreseeable future in literal Hell." Poseidon growled out in an annoyed tone. Various other gods muttered in agreement.

"That is precisely the point Poseidon, even if Percy's status as an Olympian is removed there are temples and cities who worship him and his seat of power still remains intact."

Posiedon's eyes narrowed in suspicion as Zeus continued to talk.

"Therefore as a solution to prevent the waste of a throne and the faith of the mortals we should have my son Dionysus here replace Percy as the fourteenth Olympian and have Perseus erased from all records in mortal history."

After Zeus finished his speech there was absolute silence, Dionysus who was siting besides his father's throne didn't even dare to breathe properly in case he was smote by an irate god or goddess.

Very slowly with a deathly tight grip on his trident Poseidon ground out his next words with a quiet voice just above a whisper.

"You're telling not only do you want to replace my son you also want him to be removed from history?"

Zeus seeing that his older brother's temper was about to blow up very cautiously shifted his own hand towards his master bolt ready to defend at a moment's notice. Wisely Zeus did not make any verbal response to Posiedons question. After a very tense silence it was Hestia, the eldest of all the siblings who decided to step up and offer a solution to everyone's problems.

"Brother, if it doesn't make any difference I can offer up my throne for Dionysus instead of Percy, I'm always busy tending the hearth anyway, it might be better for me if I stepped down as a member of the council."

Poseidon looked at his sister guilty before giving her a deep bow of gratitude.

"If you ever need anything sister do not hesitate to ask me the house of Poseidon will never turn you away I swear it on the Styx."

Seeing no one objecting Hestia's resignation Zeus grabbed his master bolt and summoned the Fates to the throne room. The fates upon their arrival turned to Zeus and stated in their creepy synchronised way

"Let it be known Zeus, that whilst we cannot stop your actions we do not necessarily approve of them either." With that the three old ladies began to announce Dionysus's domain.

"All hail Dionysus Acroeites, the god of Wine, Partying, Madness, Grapes, Fertility, Theatre and Ecstasy and the new Olympian."

Dionysus screamed in pain as all his mortal blood was replaced by ichor and his bones and other systems were upgraded to godly standards. A purple aura latched itself onto the new Olympian before completely disappearing as the power was absorbed by Dionysus who used it to create his divine form. After a few minutes of agonising pain the son of Zeus was able to grow to his godly height and sat down on Hestia's now vacant throne which transformed into a leather throne with a cup holder and intertwined with grapevines and had scenes of madness etched along the seat. After performing their duties the Fates silently vanished and Zeus seeing that there was nothing of importance to discuss adjourned the meeting shortly after.
