Episode 106: Nostalgia

Rev and Slam were walking in the persistent darkness. "Man, I'm starving." Rev said and let out a long sigh.

Slam growled, saying he would eat a whole buffet in that moment.

Rev chuckled. "That wouldn't be odd."

Slam grunted with surprise as a black figure appeared at the distance.

"I see that too." Rev narrowed his eyes. "Looks like a person…is that a cape?"

Slam snarled, stating it was definitely a cape.

"Uhm, hello?" Rev inquired, his voice echoed and the figure started to float towards them, getting bigger and taller gradually. "What the…?!" Rev expressed, he and Slam started to back away. Rev's eyes widened when the figure was a couple meters before them, it had become gigantic and imposing, a huge and mysterious being, with red eyes and a long cape. "Uhm…hi?" Rev waved at the tall being.

The figure crouched and then screeched at them loudly, it clenched its fists and moved them towards the two Loonatics with the intention of smashing them. Slam covered Rev, embracing him and crouching a bit.

"Gah!" Rev closed his eyes as he feared the worst, but the being's fists turned into a black smoke that faded away rapidly. Rev opened one eye and looked around, then touched his limbs, confirming he was still in one piece. "I guess it was an illusion or something." Rev opined.

Slam looked around with confusion, having released Rev. He snarled, saying that this place they were in was scary.

"Man, it's like a freaking nightmare, aren't any good things here? I mean it would be nice to have a good, uhm, illusion for once." Rev said. "Oh well, let's keep looking."

They continued walking through the perpetual darkness. A few minutes later, Slam began to hear voices. He growled, asking what was that.

"What?" Rev inquired. "Do you see something?"

Slam shook his head and replied with a grunt, saying he was hearing voices.

Rev shrugged. "It doesn't surprise me, this place is the definition of weird and unnerving."

Slam focused on what the voices were saying, he noticed that it was only one voice saying different things, it was Peyton's voice. He snarled her name with inquiry.

"Your girl?" Rev raised an eyebrow. "I'm not hearing anything, maybe you're j…" He gasped when seeing Rebecca standing a few meters ahead, wearing her green uniform of Acmetropolis Honorific Police. "R…Rebecca!" Rev ran towards her and hugged her with joy. "I'm so glad you're here! I missed you so much!"

"I missed you too, Rev." Rebecca said while embracing him.

Rev broke the hug. "Hey…" He gently caressed her long, red hair. "No ponytail now? I like it, it suits you very well!"

Rebecca chuckled. "You know I'm not real, right?" The raccoon inquired.

Rev raised an eyebrow. "Wh…what?" He looked away with confusion then glared back at her. "But…I thought you were here to rescue us from this…" He sighed while shaking his head. "Whatever this is."

"It's everything and nothing at the same time, well…it's complicated." Rebecca said.

"Wait, I thought about that a few minutes ago." Rev said with confusion.

Rebecca chuckled while shaking her head. "Because I'm in your mind, dummy!" She caressed his face. "I know what you know, what you think, what you want." She kissed him all of a sudden. "Am I wrong?"

"Woah." Rev chuckled while blushing. "Well yeah, it's been a while since our last kiss." He looked at her with a glare of great confusion and wonder. "So, you're not the real Rebecca, right?"

"No, I'm just a recreation of her, made with your thoughts and memories." Rebecca smirked at him sweetly.

Rev caressed her face and kissed her briefly. "But…you feel so real."

Rebecca looked around. "Everything here can be real if you want to, your worst nightmares, your greatest dreams."

"Wait, so if you are made with my thoughts…" Rev scratched his nape. "…then these things you're telling me…they're my ideas, my suppositions, right?" Rev inquired.

"Mhm." Rebecca nodded.

"Hmm…" Rev got very thoughtful. "Could be a dream…" He looked at her with a hesitant look. "Uhm…could you punch me?"

"Sure!" Rebecca punched him right on the face, making him groan and gasp while falling to the ground.

"Gah!" Rev rubbed his face. "I wasn't ready!"

"Sorry." Rebecca said.

"It's alright." Rev gasped and got onto his feet. "At least now I know that I'm not dreaming."

"Of course you're not, this is a quantum anomaly." Rebecca stated.

"A qu…?" Rev thought for a moment then his eyes widened. "For all th…that's right! Yeah! Yeah like the…uhm…"

"Jacobs essay on fourth gen quantum physics?" Rebecca added.

Rev snapped his fingers. "Yes! That guy!" He scratched his beak. "It must be that…the motor exploded…and that created a quantum anomaly, yeah." He looked at her and approached her, then started to kiss her. After a few moments, he separated his beak from her snout. "Thank you!"

Rebecca chuckled while blushing. "Oh, it's nothing! It was your thinking anyway."

"Alright…we just have to find the others and combine our powers…that should work, if the theory is correct, though." Rev looked for Rebecca, but she had disappeared. "Uhm, Rebecca?" He looked around, finding no one. "Slam? Hey, where did you go big guy?" Rev sighed and used his super speed, running in several directions in order to find his comrade. "He can't be too far aw…" Rev stopped running as he saw Slam walking from afar. "Hey! Slam!" He rushed towards him, getting next to him rapidly, leaving a red blur behind. Rev raised an eyebrow as Slam acted as if he was holding someone's hand. "Uhm, you okay big guy?" Rev's eyes widened then he rolled up his eyes. "Let me guess…Peyton is here, right?"

Slam nodded and growled affirmatively. After a moment, he told Rev that she had just greeted him.

"Well, I think only you can see her, big guy." Rev said. "Sorry to disappoint you but…uhm…she's not real."

Slam grunted, saying that he knew that, but that he just wanted to enjoy a walk with her.

"Yeah it's nice to have some love here I mean I got to kiss my girl even if she wasn't real but we gotta focus on getting out of here, and I know exactly what to do." Rev said.

Slam made a gesture with his hand and snarled at Rev, telling him to wait. Slam looked into Peyton's eyes and with a growl, he told her he'll see her in Acmetropolis, then he kissed her while embracing her, lifting her from the ground. He lowered her down and broke the hug, then smiled at her while waving. Peyton vanished slowly, with a smile on her face. Slam glared at Rev and growled, telling him he was ready.

"Okay." Rev said. "Any idea on how to find our friends?"

Slam snarled while raising an eyebrow, asking him if his geolocation wasn't enough.

Rev sighed. "I've been trying but it doesn't seem to work here." He shook his head with disappointment. "If we can't find them, then we must find a way for them to find us."

Slam grunted sarcastically, asking if a roar would suffice.

Rev looked at him with a face of approval. "That's not a bad option, actually."

Slam rolled up his eyes, saying it wasn't going to work.

"Well, we lose nothing with trying, right?" Rev inquired.

Slam sighed while shrugging, snarling, telling Rev he would do it.

"Alright!" Rev said with excitement while covering his ears. "Give me your most monstrous roar, big guy!"

Slam grunted and crouched, putting his hands on the ground, taking several deep breaths, then he looked down with focus. He took a final deep breath and then let out a vigorous roar.

Lexi gasped as her ear twitched. "Guys."

Ace looked at her just as Duck and Tech. "What is it?"

"Slam, I heard him." Lexi replied.

"I didn't hear anything." Duck stated.

Lexi sighed. "Super hearing." She pointed at her ears while glaring at him.

"Oh, right!" Duck said. "Wait, what if it's just another illusion from this place?"

"There's only one way to find out." Tech stated and looked at Lexi.

"It came from that way." Lexi started to run, followed by the others.

"Dang it, if only our jetpacks worked here!" Duck complained. "Blasted quantum allegory!"

"Anomaly!" Tech corrected.

"Who cares?!" Duck replied.

On the meantime, Slam was taking some air. "Take all the time you need big guy, the more powerful the roar, the higher are the chances for them to hear us." Rev said, he was sitting over the black ground.

Slam closed his eyes and then took a deep breath then he let out another beastly roar.

"Woah!" Rev praised. "That's what I'm talking about!"

Ace's vision began to get blurry. "Wait, guys…" He stopped running and got over one knee. "What…" He started to feel sleepy. "…guys…"

There was huge lake before him, he was sitting on a bench, looking at the body of water. Everything else was pitch black. Ace was wearing a white shirt and a pair of khaki pants. "Mathew!" He exclaimed while looking around. "Judith!"

Two little bunnies ran towards him, a boy and a girl. Mathew was gray furred and had a black nose, while Judith was ivory furred and her nose was pink, she wore a green dress while her brother was wearing a red shirt and a pair of blue shorts. The kids approached him and hugged him. "Hey daddy! Can we stay a bit more? We're having so much fun!" Judith said.

"Yeah, I'm about to break my record!" Mathew argued.

Ace chuckled while stroking their heads. "I know, but mom is waiting at home, and I told her we would return before six."

"But…we can arrive a bit late, we'll explain it all!" Mathew said.

"And then she would kill me." Ace joked while chuckling and shaking his head. "Come on, we'll come back tomorrow." He stood up while holding the hands of his children.

"Oh…" Judith expressed disappointment. "Alright…"

"Hey, cheer up, I bet she'll receive us with a tasty dinner at home." Ace said.

Mathew gasped. "Pancakes?!" He looked at his father with excitement.

Ace winked at him. "I'll say no more."

Judith chuckled. "Daddy."

"Yes, sweet?" Ace inquired.

"I love you, a lot!" Judith hugged him.

"Aw, dear." Ace smiled at her. "I love you too."

Me too, dad." Mathew said.

"I know, champ." Ace replied. "And you know I love you as well."

"Who do you love more?" Mathew inquired.

Ace chuckled. "I love you both, so, so much, okay?" He looked at them with a caring smile.

"Okay." They both said.

Ace sighed and glared at the black horizon. "Hey…what?" He tilted his head while raising an eyebrow. "Uhm…kids?"

"What?" Mathew inquired.

Ace looked around with confusion. "Where did everyone go? I mean…everything." He saw no lake, no benches, not a single person around, no trees, no grass or any building at the distance, only plain darkness. He suddenly stopped feeling the hands of his children, gasping and noticing they had disappeared. "Wh…no…kids!" He screamed while looking around. "Mathew! Judith!" Ace exclaimed with desperation. "Kids!" He started to run while a lump formed in his throat. "Mathew!" Ace exclaimed with a broken voice. "Judith!" He began to cry. "Kids! Kids…this is not funny!"

He tripped and fell strongly over the ground. "Mathew!" Ace was crying with a great anguish. "Jud…ith." He sobbed with deep sadness while a sudden feeling of nostalgia started to invade him. "Your mother…sh…she's making pancakes. Your favorites." Ace kept sobbing, alone in the unending darkness.

Suddenly, Ace felt a slap on the face. "Gah!" He opened his eyes, seeing Tech, Lexi, Duck, Rev and Slam standing around him.

"I told ya!" Duck dusted off his hands. "There's nothing like a good slap to wake someone up."

"Well, you got it right at the tenth time." Lexi replied coldly.

Ace rubbed his cheek. "Wh…what happened?"

Tech and Lexi helped him get onto his feet. "You fainted, we had to carry you all the way here." Tech responded.

"Oh…" Ace looked at Rev and Slam. "Hey, guys."

"Glad you're awake, Ace. Now, can we get out of here already?" Rev inquired.

"Alright." Tech activated his magnetic abilities. "Let's hope this works."

"It better does!" Duck cooked a pair of orbs.

"You alright?" Lexi placed a hand on her boyfriend's shoulder.

Ace thought for a moment and looked at her with eyes of confusion. "I…I don't know."

"Okay, at the count of three!" Tech commanded. "One…" Ace activated his laser vision, Lexi her brain blast. "Two…" Slam began to form his tornado while Rev flexed his legs. "Three!"

Episode 2: Assault, part 5

Lots of guards with dark purple armors appeared to confront the team. Randy used his super speed to run towards a group of them. When he approached them he took off their helmets one by one and started to punch each one of them right on the face. He then ran away from them. The guards fell to the ground, groaning by the pain on their faces.

Edison roared at another group of guards, disintegrating them instantly. Akinyi turned into a cloud of white smoke, leaving the guards deeply confused as their shots went through her smoke form as if they were nothing. They kept shooting nonetheless, Akinyi then covered them in herself, asphyxiating them while shaking them violently, smashing them onto the ground until they were all dead. Akinyi then turned back to normal, dusting off her hands while looking at the guards' corpses.
