Episode 107: Boom

Ace shot his laser vision while Lexi did the same with her brain blast, Duck threw his orbs at his comrades' colliding powers, Tech surrounded the phenomenon with the green glow that his magnetic abilities generated, albeit not manipulating anything, he provided a significant amount of energy with that, Slam moved in circles with his tornado around the phenomenon while Rev ran with his super speed the same way but to the opposite side. "I don't think it's working!" Duck exclaimed while cooking and throwing more orbs at the white glowing phenomenon.

"Just a bit more!" Tech responded.

"How much is a bit more?!" Ace inquired, he gasped as the continuous use of his laser vision made his eyes hurt.

"Hold on!" Tech exclaimed.

Suddenly, a loud noise echoed all around them, then the powerful and white phenomenon became much brighter. It started to exert a strong force against them. Lexi gasped. "It's…pushing me!"

"I know!" Tech replied. "Just hold on!"

All of a sudden, the phenomenon exploded greatly, everything turned white in a split of second, the power of the explosion got the Loonatics unconscious.

Episode 2: Assault, part 6

Vale walked towards a group of guards while adopting a battle position. "You think those things scare me?" He chuckled arrogantly. "Don't make me l…" The guards shot at him right away. "No! Gah!" Vale brought his hand to his chest. "You…killed me." He then fell to the ground. The guards looked at each other while shrugging. But what they didn't know was that Vale had created a holographic replica of himself, and he was rushing towards them from behind. Vale jumped at two of the guards while grabbing their heads with both hands, smashing them strongly onto each other, neutralizing them right away. Vale took the rifle of one of them and shot at the remaining guards, killing them instantly. "Well…" He looked around. "Those were the last."

"I bet more are waiting for us in the building, though." Akinyi said.

"And that's a problem, because..?" Edison inquired arrogantly, with a tone of mockery.

"I was just saying, Eddie." Akinyi replied with annoyance.

"Come on!" Vale loaded the rifle and gestured at the building. "Keep moving!"

A group of guards was waiting in the dark gray hallway, the lights there had turn red, the alarm was buzzing. They were aiming their weapons at the wide, metallic door. Suddenly and after a strong, beastly roar, the door got disintegrated. The strength of the attack made some of the guards fall. Randy ran towards the rest of the guards and took their helmets off, while also disarming them one by one, then he punched each one of them right on the snout. He then stopped using his super speed at the other end of the hallway, seeing how the guards fell to the ground while rubbing their faces, trying to reach for their weapons. "Good job!" Vale praised then shot at the guards with the rifle. He and the others then kept walking.

"I could have just roared at them again." Edison said while rolling his eyes.

"We're a team, Ed." Vale said with a straight tone.

Edison grunted. "Well, still."

"Can't you keep your snout shut for once?" Akinyi looked at Edison with an upset glare.

"No." Edison said.

"You both shut up." Vale said. "We're close to the target."

"Hurray." Akinyi said with sarcasm.

"And what is it?" Randy inquired.

"I don't know. We're about to find out." Vale responded.

They kept walking through the hallways of the building, not encountering with any single guard. After a couple minutes, they arrived at the place where the target was located. "Be useful, Ed."

Edison sighed and grunted while shaking his head and standing right before the door, which was large and thick. He roared at the door, making it disintegrate. Vale and the rest entered the room, walking past Edison. "Your welcome." Edison said coldly while following them.

Akinyi looked around with amazement just as the others, the place was very high tech, with lots of modern looking machines and prototypes laying everywhere. "This room alone must be worth billions in quasar linium."

"So…what's the asset?" Edison inquired.

"I…" Vale looked around while raising an eyebrow. "…I don't know, the boss said we would know when we find it."

Edison sighed. "What a good description."

"Damn." Vale shook his head while walking between the inventions and furniture of the place. "I guess we have to t…"

"Look out!" Akinyi shouted when seeing the large, robotic spider landing behind Vale.

"What the hell?!" Vale turned then made two holograms of himself appear next to him, he then jumped to the side, just in time as the white, robotic spider threw a shot of green plasma at his holographic versions, destroying the floor under them.

Vale stood up while glaring at the spider with his eyes widened. "That must be it, then."

"You think so?!" Edison asked sarcastically.

"Give it a roar, Ed!" Vale commanded.

"With pleasure, my leader." Edison mumbled with annoyance and sarcasm while rushing towards the spider. He took a deep breath and roared at the spider, only managing to send it towards a wall. The spider smashed the wall strongly, destroying a rack with inventions, tools and other stuff.

"Uhm, why didn't it turn into dust?" Akinyi inquired.

Edison shook his head while looking at the spider, which was getting onto its eight legs. "It must be made of diamond!" Edison backed away from the robotic monster while looking at his comrades. "It's the only thing I can't disintegrate!"

"How freaking convenient." Vale made his holographic versions to go distract the spider while he shot at it with the rifle he had acquired, inflicting no damage to the spider whatsoever. He growled when the rifle ran out of energy, dropping it while shaking his head, then looked at Akinyi. "Can you mess up the systems of that thing?"

"I think so." Akinyi ran towards the mechanical spider, which was throwing blows at Vale's pair of copies with its long and sharp legs. She jumped and turned into a cloud, getting inside the spider's mechanisms through every single opening it had. After a moment, sparks and smoke began to come out from the robotic beast as Akinyi was managing to destroy its inner systems. The spider moved and jumped violently, shooting plasma all over the place.

On the meantime, Jeremy, the boss of the maniacs, was in his office, sitting at his desktop, resting his bare feet over it. The panther took a sip of his glass of whisky while looking at the monitor that hung from the ceiling. "Kylie Bale, reporting for AcmeTV." The news anchor said, she was a bobcat, who wore a formal, brown coat. "The source of the images we're witnessing right now is untraceable, these are alleged video feeds from the facilities of 'Nebula Systems', completely live from the cameras of the headquarters of the aforementioned company, showing a battle between four unidentified individuals and what appears to be some kind of deadly robot."

Jeremy chuckled. "You're doing great, Kylie." He took a sip of his drink.

"An anonymous source told us that this robot means a threat for all of Acmetropolis' citizens, and the only ones who can stop it right now are these 'Maniacs'. Remember that the Loonatics left the planet completely vulnerable when they left to attend their own business. Can they be trusted again after such an unjustifiable behavior? Are 'The Maniacs' the new heroes of our city? Are they the 'New Loonatics' as the citizens are calling them all over the network?" The news anchor looked at the camera with a raised eyebrow. "Only time will tell."

"Woah." Jeremy nodded while smiling, taking another sip. "You'll get an extra for that, sweetheart." He took his phone and opened an application, typing a huge amount of quasar linium and sending it to a contact called 'K. Bale.' "There you go, pretty." Jeremy nodded and looked back at the monitor, continuing to see the video feeds.

Akinyi exited the robot then returned to her main form, glaring at her comrades. "It's gonna blow up in any second!"

"Get us out of here, Randy!" Vale commanded.

Randy's eyes widened. "Uhm, okay?" He began to use his super speed, walking towards Akinyi and holding her gently, he then ran all the way through the large hallways and then exited the base, leaving her outside, then he returned to the base and took out Vale, and lastly, he went for Edison and took him out of the building as well. He stopped using his super speed. "Done."

"Woah, that was weird." Vale gave Randy a thumbs up. "Thanks, man. Now, everyone, call your boards." He looked at them with a cocky and victorious smile. "The mission is over." Right after he stopped talking, the part of the building where they had been moments ago exploded.

"Shoot! We barely made it!" Akinyi exclaimed with astonishment.

They called their boards as Vale had ordered. After a few moments, their hover boards arrived and they got on them, leaving the place right away, heading to their ship.

Jeremy was in his office, expecting his team while walking around and drinking another glass of whisky. The team walked in through the automatic door, with faces of victory. He looked at them with a welcoming chuckle. "Oh, looked who we got here? Acmetropolis' newest heroes! That's right!"

"Yeah, after dealing with a deadly spider-bot, you could've mentioned that." Akinyi stated.

Jeremy chuckled. "I knew you would deal with that thing just fine, Okeke. Let's just celebrate, alright?!" He raised his glass. "For our first victory." Jeremy took a long sip from his glass. "What are you having, gentlemen? Uhm…" He walked towards an old, dark wooden cupboard and opened its doors. "Ladies first."

"Uhm…well, wine I guess. Red." Akinyi replied.

"So, that was it?" Edison raised an eyebrow. "We just had to infiltrate the headquarters of a private company and destroy one of their toys?"

"It was a menace for the city, Edison." Jeremy said while putting a glass over a table next to the cupboard, then he took a bottle of red wine and began to serve it in the cup.

"But it was locked down." Edison argued.

Jeremy sighed. "Don't question the mission, Edison. Just comply and keep helping your city." He pointed at him. "You want wine or something else?"

"I…" Edison looked away for a moment, with a lot of questions in his head. "You have tequila?"

"Oh, you bet!" Jeremy took a bottle of tequila from the cupboard.

The monitor was on, the commercials ended and the channel returned to the news program. "The Maniacs, Acmetropolis' newest heroes, who are they? Where do they come from?" The news anchor said.

Jeremy and the team switched their gazes to the monitor, with glares of both excitement and intrigue. "We're on TV." Randy said, with his eyes widened and a smile on his face, looking at the videos that were displaying in the news, one was the video of the security cameras, showing their battle against the robotic spider, the other was a video of them riding their hoverboards, which had been supposedly recorded by a passerby.

Vale chuckled. "We look so darn good, right guys?"

"If by 'we' you mean 'me', then yes." Akinyi said while pointing at herself.

"Yeah, baby!" Jeremy celebrated. "You're world famous now!"
