Episode 110: Clash of the heroes

It was midday, Ace was in the training room, doing lifting exercises with a pair of dumbbells, standing before a large mirror, with a glare of focus, following the rhythm of the synth music that was sounding. He wore a black, sleeveless sport shirt and a pair of gray sport pants. His ear twitched when hearing Tech's hurried steps. "Boss." Tech said when approaching him.

Ace put the dumbbells on the floor. "What is it, Doc?"

"The Maniacs, they're in the Beta district." Tech explained.

Ace nodded at him. "Tell the others to get ready."

Meanwhile, a reinforced hovering truck flew between the tall skyscrapers, three armed goons, who were a german shepherd, a doberman and a chihuahua, who was a bit smaller than the other two, stood on the roof of the black truck, shooting at The Maniacs with their machine guns. They wore jeans and black jackets, as well as black sunglasses. The Maniacs evaded the shots with the help of their hoverboards. Vale leaned his foot forward, making the board go faster, managing to get right next to the truck. He jumped off his hoverboard, leaving it floating there, creating two copies of himself while landing in front to the goons.

Vale made his two holographic copies rush and jump aggressively towards the goons, making them focus their aim at them. With a somersault, he got right behind the goons and began to hit them, giving strong kicks to their legs and punching their snouts, also kneeling their stomachs. Lastly, he hit one of them with his head, leaving the three goons unconscious. "Open the door, Ed!" Vale commanded. "I'll take control of this thing!"

Edison got before the back door of the truck, he then roared at it, disintegrating it completely. The three goons that were inside yelled with terror and surprise, looking nervously at the huge, cubic shaped device they were guarding. One of them started to shoot at the Maniacs, a brown furred dog, stopping when his partner, who was a husky, gave him a bump on the head. "Idiot! You will trigger the explosive!"

The other goon, a bulldog, grunted while dropping his rifle. "No worries, my fists will suffice."

"You sure about that?" Edison hopped from his hoverboard and entered the truck, landing right before the bulldog, throwing a strong punch at his snout.

"Gah! You'll pay for that!" The bulldog said with rage and tried to punch Edison, but he dodged the attack and then hit the goon's side with his elbow. The bulldog gasped and groaned then screamed and charged against Edison, not caring about the open door and the great height they were at. With that, he brought himself and Edison out of the truck, falling down hopelessly.

"Ed!" Randy rapidly flew towards them with his hoverboard.

"Shoot!" Akinyi expressed, then she jumped off her board and got inside the truck.

"Come here, lady!" The husky looked at her daringly while holding a knife. "Let's see what you got!"

Akinyi adopted a battle position and then rushed towards the husky with her arm backed, ready to punch him right on the snout, but the other goon got behind her and cuffed her arms with his. "She's all yours!" The dog exclaimed mockingly.

The husky smirked and tried to stick the knife on her forehead, but Akinyi rapidly jumped and turned into smoke. The husky gasped when sticking the knife on his partner's forehead instead, killing him instantly. "What the..?!" Akinyi began to asphyxiate the husky, getting in his body through his nostrils, ears and eyes. The husky knelt down and let out a scream of extreme pain and suffering while his eyes and nose bled, then fell dead over the ground. Akinyi returned to her normal form.

Edison and the bulldog were falling, and right before Edison could hit the ground, Randy approached him just in time, flying towards him with his hoverboard and carrying him, then he flew upwards in order to return to the truck. The bulldog had crashed to the ground. Randy and Edison arrived at the flying truck, Randy then got off his board and stopped carrying Edison, who just looked at him with a straight face, then glared at Akinyi. "And…this is all?"

Akinyi activated her comm. "We secured the bomb, Vale."

"Perfect." Vale replied from the other side. "I'm taking this thing to the c…oh damn."

Akinyi raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"We got more company, guys. Get on the roof and get rid of it." Vale commanded.

Akinyi sighed. "Okay." She gestured upwards while looking at her comrades. "Come on."

Akinyi and Edison climbed to the roof of the vehicle. Randy jumped and held from the edge, having trouble to get up there. Edison crouched before him and grasped his arm, helping him get there. Randy got onto his feet and looked at Edison. "Thanks." Randy said, Edison just nodded at him.

Four goons, canine as well, surrounded the truck, they drove hoverbikes, which were of different designs and colors. They started to shoot at the Maniacs with their machine guns.

Akinyi rapidly turned into smoke, making the bullets go through her without receiving any damage, Edison dodged the shots and then jumped into the void, quickly calling his hoverboard, which got under his feet rapidly. He then flew towards one of the goons and hit his face with the front of the board, getting the man unconscious, therefore making him fall from his hoverbike, which of course went out of control and then crashed into a pillar, exploding right away.

Randy used his super speed and jumped from the roof then landed on the front part of a hoverbike, he then took the weapon of the goon that piloted it and just dropped it, then Randy jumped and got on the other hoverbike, doing exactly the same, disarming the goon quickly. With a jump, he got on the roof again and then stopped using his super speed. "Die you m..!" One of the goons widened his gaze when noticing he wasn't holding his weapon anymore. "What the hell?!"

"Mine's gone too!" His comrade looked at him with great confusion.

Akinyi went back to her normal form, looking at Randy and winking at him. "Good job, amigo!"

"Thanks!" Randy replied.

Edison roared at the goon he had in front of him, disintegrating him and the hover bike. He switched his gaze to the two remaining goons, then he flew towards them with the help of his hoverboard. The goons gasped with their eyes widened, and right when Edison got before them and took air in order to roar, Ace and Lexi arrived, flying with their jetpacks. Each one took a goon with them and flew away from the truck. The hoverbikes got off control and flew away in random directions until smashing a building and exploding.

"What the hell?!" Edison exclaimed. Tech and Duck landed behind him, standing on the roof.

"This is not your city!" Tech activated his magnetic powers and pulled a lamppost from the street below. He adopted a swing position while looking at Edison daringly.

Edison raised an eyebrow. "Oh, is it yours, then?" He approached him and got off his board. "Just let us do our job, damn it!"

Duck cooked a pair of orbs, constantly switching his gaze between Akinyi, Randy and Edison, cautiously and with focus. "I'm afraid to tell you…that this job is taken."

Akinyi took a step forward, looking at Duck with a frown. "You abandoned this city, remember?" Akinyi thundered her fingers while adopting a battle position.

Rev arrived, landing right before her. "We weren't going to be out for that long we had to deal with some bad guys and got trapped inside the quantum anomaly!"

Akinyi raised an eyebrow. "The qua…? She grunted and shook her head. "We don't care! Get out of our way! We're trying to help here!"

Slam landed right behind her, snarling menacingly.

"Guys! What the hell is going on there?!" Vale said through his comm while driving the truck.

Edison got his snout close to his comm, looking into Tech's eyes with a frown. "The Loonatics."

"Don't worry. We can deal with them." Akinyi said through her comm.

"Wait up." Vale put the truck in neutral, leaving it in a static position, just hovering between the tall buildings.

"No, Vale, we ca.." Akinyi got interrupted.

"Hey!" Vale said, having gotten out of the cabin, walking towards Tech. "You all calm down, okay?" He looked at his team. "All…of you." Vale glared at Tech. "We can talk this out."

"I don't think that's an option anymore." Duck kept glaring at them with hostility.

"There's a bomb inside this truck!" Vale exclaimed, pointing down. "Right under your feet…do you think is a good idea to start a fight here?"

Tech looked away, thinking for a moment, then he deactivated his magnetic powers and lowered his arms, dropping the lamppost that he was manipulating. He looked at Duck, Rev and Slam. "He's right."

"I could kill you all right now, you know that?!" Edison warned.

"Ed!" Vale scolded. "Shut up, okay? Let me talk."

Ace and Lexi arrived, flying with their jetpacks and landing among their comrades. "They're safe." Ace informed.

"Hurray! The scum lives!" Edison exclaimed with sarcasm.

"Yeah, and what you gonna do about it?!" Lexi took a step forward while activating her brain blast, looking at him menacingly.

"Lexi." Tech said. "There's a bomb in this thing." He made a gesture, looking at her while moving his hand down.

Ace raised an eyebrow. "A bomb?"

"We stopped these guys from selling an explosive device in the black market." Vale explained. "This bomb could destroy an entire district."

Ace looked at Vale with doubt, he then switched his gaze to Randy, who just looked away shyly, then he glared at Akinyi, who had adopted a straight face. Ace glanced back at Vale, adopting a less hostile position. "Okay." He crossed his arms. "That's good, but…where are the others?"

"What do you mean?" Vale inquired.

"The…goons." Ace replied. "They're dead, aren't they?"

Vale shrugged. "Yeah, so?"

"So?" Lexi took a step frontwards. "Don´t you have principles?"

"We get the job done." Edison walked towards her. "That's the only principle."

"Ed…" Vale warned.

"And we don't care about your lectures or your ways, whatever you want to call them." Edison approached Lexi, looking at her with a frown. "You're done, Loonatics. The city has chosen."

"Hey. Step back, kitty." Duck cooked a pair of orbs while taking a step towards Edison. "Or you will regret it."

"Ed, come here." Vale ordered.

"I could kill you right now, girl." Edison was clenching his fist.

"Really? I'd like you to try." Lexi frowned at him while readying her brain blast.

"Guys, guys!" Vale exclaimed.

"Maybe I will." Edison suddenly grasped her neck, lifting her. Lexi started to cough, then she shot at his shoulder with her brain blast, making him let go off her neck and fall to the ground.

Ace gasped while approaching Lexi. "You okay?"

Lexi rubbed her neck, coughing. "Yeah…I'm fine."

Duck approached Edison, who was starting to get up. "Oh, there's no turning back from that, cretins!" He threw the orbs at him, the explosion caused Edison to fly away from the truck, smashing a window from a nearby building and getting inside.

Akinyi rushed towards Duck and threw a strong flying kick right to his beak, making a crack on it, which started to bleed. Duck stumbled while rubbing his beak, looking at his now blood stained hand for a moment, then gazing at her. "You'll wish you hadn't done that, pretty."

Akinyi made a daring gesture. "Bring it on, then."

Rev rushed towards Vale and jumped before him, punching his face using his super speed, sending him to the same building where Edison had been sent by Duck's orb, Vale smashed one of the windows and fell to the ground of the empty floor.

Ace looked at Lexi, gesturing at the building, then they flew towards it with their jetpacks, entering through the broken windows, landing in front of Vale and Edison, who were standing up with effort. "I guess diplomacy is not one of your strengths…Maniacs." Ace activated his laser vision.

"Neither is yours, Loonatics." Vale made two holographic copies of himself appear.

Edison was rubbing his burned shoulder, looking at Lexi with rage. "I´m gonna hurt you so badly!" He rushed towards her and punched her right on the eye, making her groan by the pain and fall to the ground, but she got up immediately with a jump and tackled Edison. Vale, his copies and Ace ran towards each other, with their fists ready to strike.

On the meantime, Duck, Slam, Tech and Rev were battling Randy and Akinyi. Tech had gotten his arms cuffed by Akinyi. Slam ran towards her and then carried her, forcing her to let go off Tech. "Hey! Get you hands off m..!" Slam threw her towards the rooftop of a building below.

"Aki!" Randy used his super speed and tried to jump from the truck, but Rev approached him and grabbed his leg, twisting it and making him fall. "Gah!" Randy exclaimed with pain.

"Going somewhere?" Rev grasped the cloth of his bodysuit on the chest area and punched his face a couple times.

Randy grunted and hit Rev's face with his forehead, then he stood up with effort and threw a kick at his beak, making it bleed. Duck cooked an orb and threw it at Randy, but he had managed to jump off the truck with his super speed, jumping all the way to the building below, landing next to Akinyi. "Aki." He approached her and helped her stand up.

"Gah." Akinyi groaned, then let out a gasp of pain while rubbing her side. "Thanks, Amigo." She looked at him with a smirk. "Ouch!" She expressed when trying to take a step. "Damn it."

"I'll take you to the HQ, okay?" Randy said, helping her stay on her feet.

"Y…yeah." Akinyi said. "That sounds…" She gasped. "…good."

"Okay. Hold on tight." Randy carried her and then rushed away from the building, running over its surface and getting his feet on the street in no time, getting out of sight.

"Yeah, run you cowards!" Duck exclaimed then switched his gaze to the building where Ace, Lexi, Vale and Edison were fighting. "Let's finish this, boys."
