Loonatics: United

Confrontation

Episode 111: Off limits

Ace tried to punch Vale, but his fist went through his face, he grunted as he found out it wasn't him, but one of his copies. The real Vale approached him from behind and rapidly started to choke him by pressing his arm against his neck. Ace coughed while trying to undo Vale's strong grip, he crouched and then jumped to the front, performing a somersault, making them both fall to the ground, with him falling strongly on Vale, who groaned while letting go off Ace. Tech approached him and helped him stand up. "You alright, boss?"

"Yes." Ace was recovering his breath. "I am." He looked around while raising an eyebrow. "Where are the others?"

Lexi, Slam, Duck and Rev were chasing Edison, flying with their jetpacks while he did the same with his hoverboard. Duck threw orbs at him constantly, but Edison disintegrated them with constant roars while riding the board in reverse, thing that was getting him very tired and out of breath. "Come on!" He breathed in and out with exhaustion. "I can do this all day, Loonatics!" He suddenly made his hoverboard stop while taking a deep breath. Slam flew rapidly towards him and before he could let out that roar, he punched him right on the snout, making him fall from the hoverboard.

"Woah, nice punch, big guy!" Duck exclaimed.

Edison smashed against a building, gasping and groaning strongly, then he kept falling until smashing into the ground. The four Loonatics flew down towards him and landed on the street, deactivating their jetpacks. Rev took a step towards him "I suggest you to surrender because it looks like you're terribly hurt sorry about that but we had to do it, I mean it was Slam the on…"

Duck closed his beak with his hand. "We know, Rev." He looked around, amazed by the amount of people that were witnessing the event, including reporters and helicopters of different channels broadcasting from above.

Lexi raised an eyebrow, looking at them with an upset glare. "I wonder what's so interesting about this."

Ace and Tech arrived, landing among their comrades. "It's over!" Ace began to walk towards Edison, who was struggling to get up. "You are out!" Some people started to boo them while throwing insults and screaming with discontent. He looked at the people and the media, with disappointment, but he had a firm conviction. "These are no heroes!" Ace pointed at Edison, getting the crowd more upset. "These…are mercenaries, don't you see?!"

Tech noticed that Edison had managed to get onto his feet while Ace was distracted. "Damn." Tech expressed and ran rapidly towards Ace. "Boss! Look out!"

Edison took a deep breath and let out a roar at Ace, but Tech managed to approach him in time and pushed him, making him fall safely over the ground. Edison's roar disintegrated Tech instead, to the people's amazement. Edison breathed in and out, with his legs trembling and aching as the rest of his body and his glare was locked on the Loonatics, who were calm as they knew what was going to happen a few seconds later, as Tech's particles began to come together and regenerate, until Tech appeared laying in one piece over the ground, looking at Edison with a cocky grin. "You didn't see that coming, huh?" Tech said while getting onto his feet, dusting himself off afterwards.

Edison gasped, with a look of great confusion. "What the hell?"

A fancy, large and black flying car landed between Edison and the Loonatics. The window of the passenger side opened half. "Get in! Now!" Jeremy ordered. The doors of the car's backside opened.

"I can deal with them!" Edison groaned and rubbed his arm.

Vale arrived on his hoverboard, getting off it and approaching Edison. "Just get in the car, Ed." He placed a hand on his shoulder.

"What about them? Why don't we finish this alrea..?" Edison gasped and rubbed his side while groaning by the pain.

"Not today." Vale looked around, seeing the confused faces of the people, seeing how some groups between the crowd were arguing and fighting.

"What are you two waiting for, idiots?! Get in!" Jeremy exclaimed.

Vale helped Edison get in the car, and after both were inside, the doors closed rapidly and the flying car left the place in a rush. Jeremy looked at them with a frown, the chauffeur was just driving casually. "You really messed it up today! They took back the bomb while you were fighting those freaks!"

"What other choice did we have? They just got in the way a…" Vale got interrupted.

"I don't give a damn, Vale!" Jeremy looked at Edison. "And you…" Vale pointed at him. "…you almost ruined everything for us!"

Edison's eyes widened while looking at Jeremy with a frown. "Me?! Why?!"

"You almost killed a Loonatic! Don't you know what that could do to our reputation?! To our contracts?!" Jeremy exclaimed.

"They got in the way! I had to do something!" Edison exclaimed.

"Yes, you had to! You had to complete the mission, do what I say, not what you want!" Jeremy responded. "Be grateful that you attacked the green one, otherwise we would be getting bad press from all the media and the fanboys out there!"

Edison kept looking at him with a hostile glare, then he slowly looked away, resting his back against the padded seat. Vale looked at him with concern then looked at Jeremy. "I'm sorry, boss. This won't happen again."

Jeremy had a straight face. "It better doesn't." He switched his gaze to the front.

"And…what now?" Duck looked at Ace, who had his gaze locked on the vehicle that then got lost between the skyscrapers and the traffic.

"Back to the HQ." Ace glared at Duck then at the rest of the team and activated his jetpack rapidly when seeing a bunch of reporters rushing towards them. They flew away from the scene in a hurry.

Later on, The Maniacs had returned to their headquarters, Akinyi and Edison were being checked in the infirmary, by two female nurses, a snow leopard and a pink furred cat, both of them wearing white lab coats. Edison and Akinyi were laying down over stretchers, in underwear. Edison gasped when the snow leopard pressed his ribs. "Damn." He mumbled.

Akinyi looked at him. "The purple guy, huh?"

Edison sighed. "Yes."

"Hm." Akinyi sighed while shaking her head. "We would have to fill ourselves with steroids and tons of protein powder to reach that level." She chuckled, then raised an eyebrow while glaring at Edison's straight face, his gaze was lost on the ceiling. "Ed?"

"I heard you. It's not funny." Edison replied coldly.

Akinyi sighed. "Nothing's funny to you." The cat was flexing her legs, making her gasp a bit. "We…had a bad day, that's all."

"I'll kill them all." Edison said, making the snow leopard to put a face of intrigue and concern.

"Don't be ridiculous, Ed." Akinyi replied. "You're just angry, tired…that's all."

Edison raised an eyebrow while looking at her. "And what other choice do we have? They're getting in our way." He grunted and looked back at the ceiling. "Even if the boss doesn't want me to do it…I don't care, I will finish them once and for all."

"And then he will fire you." Akinyi said, getting no response from him. "Ed."

Edison snarled. "I heard you!" He made the nurse back away from him. He straightened while glaring at Akinyi with a frown. "Stop trying to help! It won't work, okay?!"

"Uhm, sir, could you lay your back again? We…are not done." The nurse said hesitantly.

Edison sighed and laid his back on the stretcher again, still looking at his comrade. "Last warning." He sentenced.

Akinyi kept looking at him for a few moments then she glanced away. They remained silent during the rest of the medical check-up.
