Chapter 3: Happy Birthday, Oswald
Everyone in Wasteland is in Mean Street, and they decorated the entire street as a birthday festivity. Gus is directing the Gremlins.
"Jamface, make sure the decorations look like Oswald's episodes," Gus continued. "Markus, you have all of the carrot-themed food? Good! Calvin, are the ghost band ready? They have to play his tunes from his old days."
"I got the ladies, and I got the cake ready. We made enough for everyone," said Clarabelle, pushing a colossal carrot cake with the number candles, "96".
"Where is Mickey? Ortensia and the Bunny Children will be here soon with Oswald," said Horace.
"Now, entering Mean Street Station," said the intercom.
When the train arrives, the Rabbit family emerges with Oswald's ears covering his eyes like a blindfold.
"Geez Louise, Ortensia, and Bunny Children, what is it?" said Oswald.
"Okay, Honeybunny. You can look now," Ortensia said while going to the crowd.
When he unfolds his ears, he sees everyone in his birthday jamboree as they say, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OSWALD!"
After gasping with joy, Oswald cuffs his hands together while saying with gratitude, "Oh, you are all so sweet. But it feels like something is missing."
"Yes. The Petes called that they wouldn't make it and said they would send your gift soon. But that Mouse Brother yours, where in the cottage cheese is he?!" said the Mad Doctor.
Everyone then hears a shrilly girl scream and begins to look around.
They all look at the ghosts, so Ian says, "Don't look at us, Boss. We do scarin' during the night."
Mickey lands on top of Oswald with the Paintbrush and a gift on his back.
Mickey sits on top of his brother while saying, "Ozzie-san! Happy 96th Birthday, big brother!"
Oswald responds with a pained voice, "Thanks, Mickey."
Once Mickey gets off of him and helps Oswald back on his feet, Mickey responds, "I hope you can excuse me for 'dropping in' like this."
After a rim shot was heard, Practical Pig was on the drums and said, "Well, someone has to do it."
"Am I late?" Mickey asks.
"Not at all, Mickey. You were right on time," said Gus.
"Uh, Mick? What did you call me back there?" Oswald asks.
"Ozzie-san!" Mickey responds happily.
"Ozzie-san?"
"It's a Japanese Anime thing going on. They call their big brothers as Onii-Sans. On the other hand, I used your nickname, Ozzie, and combined Onii-San with Ozzie-San."
Mickey hugged Oswald, which made him hug back, and everyone was in awe of the moment.
"You two are so cute," Ortensia commented.
"No, we're not," Mickey and Oswald shouted, blushing in embarrassment.
"Anyway, Oswald, here's your present," said Mickey, taking out a blue squared gifted wrapped with red ribbon.
"Great. You can put your present over there," said Ortensia, pointing to a pile of presents.
"Whoa," said Oswald and Mickey, eyes widening.
"Uh, actually, Ortensia. I want to keep my present with me. It's the most precious thing I'll give to anyone," said Mickey, putting it back on his back.
Oswald is touched and holds his heart while everyone says, "Aw."
"Your brotherly love makes me cry," the Mad Doctor said while crying into a handkerchief.
"Alright, Oswald. It's time to blow on your birthday cake," Gus said, pointing to the giant carrot cake.
"Whoa. But isn't it a bit early to do the birthday song?" Oswald asks.
"Ozzie-san, it's your birthday. We don't have to go in order," Mickey continued. "It doesn't have to be traditional because we made a special birthday song for you. Hit it!"
After Mickey snapped his fingers, the ghosts came together to take out their New Orleans jazz instruments and start playing a jazz version of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit theme song. Mickey pulls out his Paintbrush to paint a top hat and a cane on his hand. Once he puts the Paintbrush back on his back, he makes the hat and cane twirl in the air.
He then sings when the hat gets on his head and catches the cane, "Lucky rabbit, that lucky Oswald Rabbit. [He holds the top, puts the cane's tip on the ground, and taps his foot. He then looks up for a spotlight shining down on him.]
Nicest rabbit that you ever knew. [He twirls his cane before pulling Oswald towards him while they both smile.]
Lucky habit, that lucky Oswald habit. [The brothers may side to side before they spin and kick their feet out, opposite side out from each other.]
If you want it, here's what you can do. [Mickey then hugs Oswald to nuzzle his face before he uses his cane like a conductor's baton.]
Gus: Reading [Gus pops up while holding a book, his teacher pointer, and teaching cap.]
Animatronic Donald: Writing [Donald appears behind Gus on the right while holding a pen and notepad.]
Animatronic Goofy: 'rithmetic [Goofy holding four papers of addition, subtraction, Multiplication, and Division.]
Horace Horsecollar: May often make you awful sick. [He takes off his hat to show a vintage ice pack on his head and spits out a thermometer before fainting in Clarabelle's arms.]
Ghost Ian: But if you learn your lessons quick, [Ian appears between the couple's faces.]
Mad Doctor: Just wait 'til you'll be through. [But the Mad Doctor appeared in the center to sing in a high opera voice, making everyone stare at him in confusion. He then said, "Too much?" "Eh," everyone responds.]
The Three Pigs: Don't be scrappy [Then Three Pigs kick-walking past while holding their hats.]
Jamface: But smile and do things snappy. [Jamface juggles wrenches and catches them by stacking them in one hand.]
Markus: Make folks happy, [Markus has a smiling Oswald Tiki on before taking it off to show his smile.]
Mickey: And you'll be lucky too! [Mickey then slides away to perform a small tap dance in front of the drummer. He then sprays Paint at Oswald, so a golden top is on his head, and a silver cane is in his hands. He then starts to tap dance before somersaulting Mickey. Then the pair begins to tap dance. "Take it away, Ortensia," said Mickey while he and his brother swayed together.]
Ortensia: Lucky rabbit, that lucky Oswald Rabbit. [A spotlight shines on her while holding her hands and having her right foot up. She holds her skirt to do the can-can.]
Nicest rabbit that you ever knew. [She then jumps into Oswald's arms and warps around him. She then claps her hands twice for all 420 Bunny Children to appear before everyone.]
Bunny Children: Lucky habit, that lucky Daddy habit. [They move their heads as they sing, which touches everyone.]
If you want it, here's what you can do. [They hop to the beat which shakes Mean Street. Ortensia then moves her hands to settle them down.]
Ortensia: Every morning when you wake [She then hops out of Oswald's arms to kiss his cheek.]
Animatronic Daisy: Some resolution you should make [Daisy appears with her Splatter cameraman while getting the Three Toonateers in the shot.]
Clarabelle Cow: So, stuff your tummies till they ache [Clarabelle, her Splatter, and Gilda, each taking out a box.]
Gilda: With candy, cake, and dough [They open the boxes to show Oswald-shaped candy, cakes, and rolls.]
Gremlins: Play and study [The Gremlins clap their hands together while ringing around the rosy.]
Pirates: Don't get your books all muddy [The Pirates clank their barrel mugs together.]
Ghosts: Help your body [The Ghosts pound on their bellies like drums.]
Toons: And you'll be lucky too! [The Toons begin to throw confetti in the air.]
Mickey: You got that? [Mickey then picks up Oswald with two hands while Oswald says, "Uh, Mickers?"]
Everyone: Yes, sir! [Then Gremlins are seen carrying Oswald's throne and put at the center of the square.]
Lucky rabbit, that lucky Oswald Rabbit. [Mickey then runs to put Oswald on the throne to watch everyone dance Disney Fandaze 2018.]
Nicest rabbit that you ever knew. [Oswald chuckled in thanks before Ortensia and the Bunny Children came close to him.]
Lucky habit, that lucky Oswald habit. [Mickey moves side to side with his cane holding him up. He then wiggles his ears while doing it.]
If you want it, here's what you can do. [He then tosses his cane and top away, which the lady toons catch and begin to fight over it.]
Guys: Reading, writing, 'rithmetic may often make you awfully sick. [Mickey then begins to the Mickey's Mousekedoer dance to the song speed.]
Girls: But if you learn your lessons quick, [Mickey then does the hopping part before doing the springtail.]
Just wait 'til you'll be through. [He goes before his brother and takes out his hand to his brother.]
Everyone: Don't be scrappy [Oswald gets out his throne and takes his brother by the hand.]
But smile and do things snappy. [Together, the two half-brothers do Mickey's Hot Dog song dance.]
Make folks happy, [Then they held each other's hands to spin together.]
And you'll be lucky too! [Mickey then pulls Oswald towards the cake with Ortensia and Gus onto a lift to get to the top of Oswald's birthday cake.]
Mickey, Ortensia, and Gus: You'll be lucky too! [As the four go up, Mickey, Ortensia, and Gus hug Oswald in congratulatory.]
Mad Doctor: You'll be lucky too! [Once they reached the top, Oswald closed his eyes and put his hands together to thought up his birthday wish. When he was done, he blew the candles that set fireworks in the air.]
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OSWALD!" everyone cheered.
Oswald smiled while he joked quietly, "Gosh! I am so unimportant."
"I love the song. I didn't know I had a theme song," said Oswald as the four came back down.
"The Disney Company did some digging into your work, and that's when they found out about the song," Mickey continued. "They're hoping they can show everyone about you and everyone else in Wasteland."
Oswald blushed happily and responded, "Trying to convince them to get us all back in stardom?"
"I'm not the only one. Everyone around the world is trying too. I'm sure he wanted to do that too."
The half-brothers look towards the Walt Disney and Oswald statue. They two hold each other's hands.
"Yeah. Let's continue to party."
"Sure thing, Ozzie-san. Haha."
