Loonatics: United
The Wrath of Tenebrous
Episode 116: Low energy
Ace opened his eyes abruptly, woken up by the cold temperature in the jet. He sighed while rubbing his arm, looking at his teammates and the Maniacs, all sleeping. He yawned and unbuckled his seat belt then headed to the cockpit. Tech was nodding by the tiredness while piloting the ship, struggling to stay awake. "Doc." Ace arrived at the cockpit.
"Huh." Tech said and looked at him. "Oh…" He yawned. "Sorry, boss. I'm just feeling very tired."
"We all are." Ace placed a hand on his shoulder while thinking. "Uhm…how long till we reach Alfons?"
"Well…like six hours or so. He stopped in Loremia a few hours ago." Tech rubbed his eyes.
"Hm…I think we should rest a couple of hours, in a more adequate place." Ace proposed.
Tech yawned. "Let me find the nearest place we can stay in." He began to press some buttons on the console.
"Okay." Ace patted his shoulder. "Thanks, Doc." He exited the cockpit and walked back to his seat, finding out Duck had woken up. Ace sat down and fastened his seat belt again.
"Are we there yet?" Duck inquired while stretching and rubbing his hands. "Dang, so cold."
"No. We're gonna rest a bit when Tech finds a good place to stay, then we'll continue chasing this guy." Ace sighed and looked into the ceiling, closing his eyes.
"Oh, cool." Duck replied. "Uhm…I'm gonna take a snack from the compartment."
"Go ahead." Ace said with a sleepy tone.
"Get two of those." Akinyi asked with somnolence, still with her eyes closed.
"Yeah, yeah, all for our guests." Duck said with sarcasm while unbuckling his seat belt. He crouched and opened a small drawer from under his seat, taking two protein bars. Duck closed the drawer and threw the bar at her face.
"Gah!" Akinyi shook her head and took the bar, looking at Duck with a frown. "Thanks." She said with annoyance.
"Anytime, pretty." Duck sat down again and opened his bar, then began to eat it, looking at Akinyi with a daring smile.
Akinyi looked away and opened the bar, then gave it a bite. "Not bad." She said with her mouth full.
"Yeah, Tech makes 'em." Duck said and took another bite of his bar. "You know, the brainy coyote."
"I heard you!" Tech said from the cockpit.
"I know, don't worry!" Duck replied while chuckling.
Akinyi raised an eyebrow while looking at Duck. "Are you always like that?"
"How?" Duck asked with his mouth full. "Charming and handsome? Yeah, I was born that way, sorry."
"Sure…" Akinyi rolled up her eyes. "…charming."
"Hey…" Duck smiled at Akinyi while pointing at her, winking. "…but you think I'm handsome, right?"
"Pfft, come on, I…" Akinyi got interrupted by him.
Duck made a negative gesture with his index finger while glaring away. "No no no…I got a girlfriend, babe, sorry."
"I…I wasn't even g…" Akinyi got interrupted once again.
"Hey, it's okay, I'm irresistible!" Duck pointed at himself.
"You're annoying, that's all you are." Akinyi said before munching her protein bar.
"Well, not as annoying as the pussycat." Duck pointed at Edison, who was still sleeping.
"Mhm, that is true." Akinyi chuckled briefly and took another bite of her bar.
Duck looked at Randy. "And…is there something between you two? The…speedster here?"
"Oh…" Akinyi coughed a couple of times while blushing. "No…no I mean…he is very kind and…cute…brave."
"Hmm…" Duck scratched his beak while looking at her with an eyebrow raised.
"What?" Akinyi raised an eyebrow.
"You like this guy, right? Let me wake him up." Duck said.
"No!" Akinyi covered her mouth as she had spoken so loudly, but she didn't wake up anyone. "No." She mumbled.
Duck chuckled. "So…you like him?"
"I…I don't have to tell you, that's our busi…my business." Akinyi switched her gaze between Duck and her surroundings repeatedly.
"Heh." Duck shook his head while taking another bite. "I'm very good at reading people."
"You are good at making people uncomfortable." Akinyi said.
Duck nodded. "Yes, that as well."
Akinyi shook her head. "Whatever." She kept eating her protein bar.
A few minutes passed. "Boss." Tech said from the cockpit.
Ace stood up from his seat and went to where Tech. "You found something?" Ace rubbed his eyes.
"Yes, it's a dwarf planet called Hondar, the database says it has plenty of places for lodging." Tech answered.
Ace nodded. "Nice, how far is it?"
"Not so much, half an hour." Tech said, looking at Ace, waiting for his command.
"Alright, go ahead." Ace yawned. "Good job." He walked away from the cockpit.
Later on, they arrived at the planet, the jet entered the atmosphere of Hondar, it was nighttime there. The architecture of the place consisted mainly in huge steel blocks, arranged to conform different types of buildings for diverse usages, the temperature there was warm. "Welcome to Hondar, boys." Tech said.
Duck sighed with relief. "Finally, some decent temperature. This will make me sleep like a baby."
"That's something we agree on." Akinyi responded.
"Slam, Rev." Ace spoke with a louder tone in order to wake up his comrades. He patted his girlfriend's shoulder gently, making Lexi wake up.
Rev yawned and stretched. "So, what's the plan?"
"Sleep." Duck said.
Rev raised an eyebrow. "I'm being serious what are we g..?"
"Duck's right, Rev." Ace interrupted. "We have to rest a bit, we are not there yet."
"Oh…cool." Rev nodded.
"Amigo." Akinyi woke up Randy.
Randy opened his eyes slowly, looking at her with somnolence. "What?"
"Get ready, we're gonna make a stop to rest a bit." Akinyi smirked at him.
"Oh…" Randy yawned. "…nice."
Vale was rubbing his face, having woken up as well. "For how long?"
"Just a couple of hours." Ace looked at him and the others. "We'll do nothing if we're tired when we battle him."
"Ed." Vale spoke loud so he could wake his teammate up, looking at him with a straight face. "Ed!" Edison was deeply asleep.
"Let me." Duck thundered his fingers and stood up from his seat, approaching Edison. He gave him a slap.
"Ouch!" Edison rubbed his cheek while looking at Duck angrily. "What the heck, bird?!"
"You weren't responding, kitty." Duck walked away from him and went to the cockpit.
"That idiot." Edison kept rubbing his cheek.
"Aw, did it hurt too much, Eddie?" Akinyi looked at him while making up a face of pity.
"Shut up." Edison replied with annoyance.
Meanwhile, Duck was in the cockpit with Tech, standing behind him, looking at the buildings of Hondar through the window. "Not bad, looks cleaner than Acmetropolis."
"We are lodging in 'The Chrome Bolt', I read it's the best place to stay here." Tech responded.
"Cool, does it have pool?" Duck inquired.
"I don't know." Tech said. "Why would that matter, though?"
"Well, because a good swim wouldn't be bad, you know what I'm saying?" Duck replied.
Tech sighed. "We're just gonna rest a bit, that's all. Don't get too comfy."
"Isn't that the whole point?" Duck inquired.
"Go back to your seat." Tech said coldly.
"Okay, grumpy dog." Duck walked away from him and exited the cockpit. "It looks cool, we're gonna have fun here."
"Duck, we…" Ace got interrupted.
"…are gonna rest, yada yada, yeah, whatever." Duck sat down on his seat while placing both hands on his nape. "Let me enjoy this at least."
Tech landed the jet on an elevated platform next to the lodging place, which was a huge set of steel blocks. A screen was located on the top of the building, displaying the name of the place, 'The Chrome Bolt'.
