Chapter 5: The Toonateers

All of the Wasteland Inhabitants are gathered at the Dark Beauty Castle Entrance. They have tents, tables, and chairs while they try to survive. Oswald is running through the place to check up on everyone.

"It looks like everyone from the party made it. Some 96th Birthday this was. Time to check my top geniuses," said Oswald, going to the Mad Doctor's Lab.

When he does, the Mad Doctor works on a jumbo monitor computer. Gus is observing Tintley and Turpley while eating Painted Objects and Inert Objects. He is writing down notes about them.

Gus then said, "Tintley, the Tint Guardian Fairy. Able to create Paint, drink Paint, and eat Painted Objects. Like the friendly powers of the Tints, she's very kind and considerate."

"Thank you for the food, Gus," said Tintley.

"You're welcome, Tintley. Next is Turpley, the Turp Guardian Fairy. Capable of creating Thinner, drinking Thinner, and eating Inert Objects. Personality-."

He sees Turpley eat up all of the Inert Objects and burp loudly.

Disgusted, Gus said, "Complete opposite of Tintley. Mostly lack of proper manners, and a high trash talker."

"Hey, who are you calling a trash talker?! I prefer to be an absolute truth speaker and carefree," Turpley said.

"Right? So, you and Tintley can't remember anything?"

"Well, all I remember is that I woke up in a cage surrounded by the ugly cat gang and their chained, fluttery-footed creature. They are to do nasty tests you would see in cutting off a frog and doctors with needles. Something about using our powers for their own."

"Prescott is with the Petes?! No wonder he went missing for 23 years."

"You never went searching for the guy?"

"We looked everywhere, and Disney won't continue the game series no matter how popular the second game is. Or could have a least given us a movie or tv series!"

"You guys have it rough."

"Tell me about it."

"What's up, Doc?" Oswald said, going to the Mad Doctor.

Once Ortensia, Gus, Tintley, and Turpley go over to the Mad Doctor, he then sings, "Oh, the horror! The horror! The heart-pounding horror! [The Mad Doctor does the hand on the forehead, cuffs his hands together, and shows his chest-hair-shaped heart while opening his lab coat. This caused Oswald to cover Ortensia's eyes, Gus's eye to twitch, Tintley confused, and Turpley to cough up Thinner in disgust.]

The Petes got the BoltToons to conquer all of Wasteland. [He shows the map of Wasteland, which is covered by the BoltToons and a massive flag of the Petes Gang at Mean Street.]

Oh, the terror! The terror! The life-threatening terror! [The Mad Doctor then gets on his knees, does the Scream Face, and pulls his mustache in a panic.]

They'll soon turn our home into what they want under their rule called Peteland. [He then shows the screen where everything in Wasteland is Pete-themed.]

"Is this guy for real?" Turpley asks.

"Yeah, but you'll get used to it. So, is that true, Doc?" Oswald said.

"I'm not entirely sure, but it could be intended. A former villain can think like a villain. They were part of my show to help me leave Wasteland. I said they could come along if it has succeeded," the Mad Doctor said, closing his lad coat.

Then Tintley said, "Actually, conquering Wasteland to make Peteland is their backup plan."

"Backup plan?" Ortensia questioned.

"Yes, in case they plan to create a great hole into the sky and create four Heart Amulets out of the 13 purest Hearts of the Toon World."

"What?! But how?! And what are the 13 purest Hearts of the Toon World?" Oswald concern.

"That's all I could remember."

"Hmm, alright then. So, Doc, about my wife?"

The Mad Doctor sang, "Excitement discovery is that I tracked and found. [He then shows an analysis of Ortensia's shape.]

Since Ortensia was inert for so long, it caused her to evolve. [It transforms into her inert state while her energy grows strong.]

Her new stony hand and feet abilities can come around [It then goes into animation of her shape morphing her hands and feet into stony weaponry like bricks, boulders, and spears before using them as fighting.]

For the battles, challenges, and enemies that might be involved. [Ortensia was amazed that she made her fists morph into maces. She spins her right arm while saying, "That means I can go along with your adventure."]

"My queen made herself a queen warrior," Oswald impressed.

"I'm glad you took notice," Ortensia smirked.

"Shouldn't we be concerned about the fidget mouse over there?" Turpley points to Mickey.

Mickey is in a fetal position while sucking on his thumb.

"I think Mickey has lost it," Tintley commented.

Oswald goes over to Mickey to hug him, saying, "Don't worry about it, Mick. I'm sure Yen Sid will understand why the Paintbrush is broken, and he'll have a good laugh about it."

"Mememememememememememememememe," Mickey responds while shaking his head in fear.

Turpley butted in and said, "Sheesh, calm down, Mousey. It's just a paintbrush. You can buy a replacement."

But Mickey turned his head to Turpley slowly while showing his eyes red in rage. This intimidates everyone, but they become more frightened when Mickey grabs Turpley and constantly pounds him on the ground.

He screamed while he continued to pound Turpley, "That was no ordinary Paintbrush. It was the Magical Paintbrush from Yen Sid, the creator of Wasteland! An all-powerful weapon that aids me throughout my Wasteland adventures! IT'S IRREPLACEABLE!"

Oswald, Gus, the Mad Doctor, and Tintley hide behind Ortensia as they watch what is happening.

"24 carrots! I've never seen Mickey so angry before. I'm glad he didn't show any towards me when we first met," said Oswald.

"Uh, Mickey? There's no need to make a fuss. The Mad Doctor will get it fixed. Right, Doc?" said Gus.

"I'm…trying," said the Mad Doctor, looking at the glass casing on a pedestal, holding the two broken parts of the Paintbrush with two tubes of Paint and Thinner.

"It may take more magic than science. But I'll try my best," said the Mad Doctor.

"Mickey, we understand how upset the Paintbrush is being broken," said Ortensia.

Mickey then throws Turpley to a wall before saying, "It's not just the Paintbrush that got me down. That BoltToon Mickey swiped my present for Oswald's birthday. If he does anything to that gift-."

"HE'S DEAD!" he shouted while punching a wall.

This startled everyone and caused the Toons, who watched everyone from a crack in the door, to flee. When he frees his fist, he leaves a gap in it.

"Wow, that Mouse got some pure destructive anger underneath his cartoony structure. I like him," said Turpley while Tintley helped him up.

"Mickey, try not to destroy my home…again," said Oswald.

Mickey blushed in embarrassment before Tintley asked, "What does he mean by again?"

"Don't ask," said Mickey, covering her mouth.

She uncovered her mouth to continue, "Strange. Despite your Paintbrush being broken, I can still smell Paint on you."

"Now that she mentions it. I can smell Thinner on you, too," said Turpley.

"Oh, that must be some of the Bolt I soaked in when I first entered this place," said Mickey.

"What?! Mickey, you're dying, are you?! Do we need to call a doctor?! Oh, wait. We got Mad Doc," Oswald panics while holding his brother's shoulders.

"I'm fine, Ozzie-san. The dripping stopped a long time again."

Tintley and Turpley looked at each other and nodded.

"Mickey, Turpley, and I have a theory," Tintley continued. "We think the remints of the Bolt somehow evolved within you just like how the inert evolved in Ortensia. But it's a little pump so that you can use it to your advantage."

"That's where Tintley and I come in. If we can add a little power to you, maybe it would work," Turpley said, taking Mickey's left hand while Tintley took the right hand.

Mickey's hands begin to glow in blue and green with some of the Guardian Fairies' Paint and Thinner going into his palms. Once it stops, the Fairies let go of Mickey's hands so he can form a ball of Paint and Thinner. Everyone watches, and the Toons behind the door return to see it.

"Woah. This beats the Paintbrush by a long shot," said Mickey.

He then throws the Paintball to color in a cake and a Thinner ball to make a knight's armor inert. Tintley and Turpley start to eat them to recharge.

"That's cool. The Petes will quiver when they get a look at you, Mickers," Oswald pounds his fist into his hand.

"Haha. They'll regret messing with you and me, Oswald," Mickey responds.

"Well, now you're better, Mickey. Did you hear anything that Guardian Fairies mentioned?" Gus asks.

"Yeah, I heard. But I missed the part about the Petes need to create four Heart Amulets."

"Do you know anything about the 13 purest Hearts of the Toon World?"

"Purest Hearts? Oh, no! The Petes are going after the Disney Princesses?"

"Disney Princesses? Did you and Minnie finally get steady and put a ring on it?" Oswald asks.

"Oh, haha. No, Ozzie-san. I'm not ready for Tier 15 like you and Ortensia are on. The Disney Princess Status is complicated to explain. But everyone in my world knows they are the purest of hearts of any female character by comparison. The effects will be catastrophic if the Petes ever get their hands on their hearts. But how can they capture them since they are in the Cartoon World?"

"They can," Tintley continued. "Prescott managed to locate leaks to gather enough data to create some sort of summoning machine that will open the leaks to where the Princesses are to get them sent down here."

"Then we have no time to sit around. We got to rescue the Princesses. Mad Doctor, get their locations on them, stat!"

"Yes, sir. Give me the names of the Disney Princesses," Mad Doctor typed on his computer.

"Snow White from 1937 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Cinderella from 1950 Cinderella. Aurora from 1959 Sleeping Beauty. Ariel from 1989 The Little Mermaid. Belle from 1991 Beauty and the Beast. Jasmine from 1992 Aladdin. Pocahontas from 1995 Pocahontas. Mulan from 1998 Mulan. Tiana from 2009 The Princess and the Frog. Rapunzel from Tangled 2010. Merida from 2012 Brave. Moana from 2016 Moana. And Raya from 2021 Raya and the Last Dragon."

Everyone looked at him and was impressed.

"Wow, that was really good, Mickey," said Oswald.

"When you're an icon, you get to know all the characters in every movie, tv show, and story. You name it."

"I got their locations, but they are all over Wasteland. But the closest Princess is Snow White. You can get to her if you go through the Rainbow Caverns," said Mad Doctor.

"Luckily, we installed some projectors in Throne Room. To the Throne, men," said Oswald.

"Wait, Oswald. Can I come along? A girl has got to help out with girls in trouble," said Ortensia.

"Well, you got your stony morphing. Sure, why not?"

"Can we come along?" Tintley asks.

"Are you sure?" Mickey responds.

"Well, Mickey, someone has kept your new powers in check," said Turpley.

"You just said my name."

"Don't get high expectations."

With Mickey, Oswald, Ortensia, Gus, Tintley, and Turpley's hands in the middle, Mickey said, "Together, we have a common enemy and a great goal. We shall dub ourselves, Toonateers."

"The what?" Turpley asks.

"It's like Muskateers, but replace 'Musk' with Toon."

"I'll give you points for creativity."

"Let's be off, then. Jamface, keep an eye on everyone while we're gone! We're off to save the Princesses!" said Gus.

The Toonateers then enter the Throne Room to find 13 Projectors.

"Which one should we take?" Ortensia said.

"We might need the Guardians to help us," said Mickey.

"Tintley and I can summon them if you want a hand," said Turpley before whistling with Tintley.

Guardians then show them the Projector of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

"Jolly good show. Let's head right in!" Gus said.

The Toonateers enter the Projector but unknown to them that they are being watched through a window. BoltToon Mickey was looking through it before he slowly clapped and left.
