Episode 118: Early breakfast
The old english shepherd had taken the Loonatics and the Maniacs to the restaurant, it had the same blue aesthetic as all "The Chrome Bolt". A couple of families were there, eating and serving themselves from the four large bars of food that surrounded the tables. Duck whistled as they walked in. "This looks sick!"
"Am I smelling italian sausages?" Akinyi said.
"You're right, we got the best ones in the sector." The shepherd said. "Well, don't be shy and serve yourselves all the food you want, heroes!" He gave a thumbs up. "If you need anything else, just tell me!" He walked away from them.
Slam had his jaws open, dripping saliva while looking at all the food with expectation as his belly growled
"Go ahead, big guy." Ace winked at him.
Slam grunted with happiness then went hurriedly to the bars with the help of his tornado, taking lots of dishes in the way and filling them with lots of food, going from bar to bar until having both hands holding tall towers of dishes and food of all kinds, he then sat down at a large table, starting to eat already.
"Ugh, I hope he left something for us." Vale expressed.
"He's learned to control himself a bit." Ace replied then they approached the first bar, which had fruits of all kinds as well as tasty toppings. "Hmm…so much to choose from…"
After picking their respective food from all the bars, they sat down together. Slam was already having his fifth plate. Ace took the first bite of the piece of steak he had served on his plate. "Woah…you gotta taste the steak, guys." He said with his mouth full.
Akinyi was enjoying an italian sausage, it's greasy texture and salty flavor certainly put a smile on her face. "I prefer to have more of these things, but thanks."
Duck took a sip from his glass of juice. "This was what I needed, I thought the flying lizards had ruined the whole experience."
"It was a good exercise." Vale opined before taking a bite of the mashed potatoes he was having.
Tech sighed. "That's what happens when you visit a new planet…you don't know what to expect." He took a sip from his coffee.
"Well, we are prepared for any situation." Vale said.
"And we have a lot of experience with these things, so, that's also a plus." Duck boasted.
Lexi was having a piece of tuna pie. "Hey, I shouldn't say this, but this one's better than my mom's." She said with her mouth full.
Randy was having a bowl of soup, with corn, meat, avocado and chilli powder. Tech raised an eyebrow. "Hey, what is that?"
"Oh…" Randy swallowed and cleaned his snout with a napkin. "Pozole."
"Pol…what?" Tech inquired.
"It's a, uhm…traditional dish." Randy responded. "My grandma used to make it a lot. Who would have thought they had it here?" He chuckled briefly.
"Hmm…it looks tasty, I think I'm having some." Tech stood up from his chair.
Ace took a bite from a piece of bread. "And…how did you get…well, recruited?"
"I received an email, it just said that they knew who I was, my abilities, and that I met the requirements." Vale took a sip from his coffee.
"Yeah, I got an email as well." Randy said.
"Honestly, I was just gonna move on with my life until I saw the benefits he offered." Akinyi bit another italian sausage.
"What did you guys do before, well, this?" Rev asked.
"I was in the AHP, not for long though, I didn't get beyond the training stage." Vale answered.
"Oh, the AHP! My girlfriend works there she is a raccoon and her nam…" Rev got interrupted.
"Rev." Ace looked at his comrade.
"Oh, yeah, go ahead guys. Sorry it's just that I love her so much." Rev scratched his nape.
Lexi glared at Akinyi. "What about you, girl?"
"Oh, I…well, people asked me to find…other people or things for them…and they paid me for that." Akinyi took a sip from her juice.
"A bounty hunter." Duck said with certainty.
"Hmm, technically, I guess." Akinyi responded, with a tone of shame.
"And you?" Tech took a sip from his bowl of pozole while looking at Randy. "Man, this is so good." He said with his mouth full.
"Oh, uhm…I delivered pizza." Randy took a sip from his glass of milk. "Just that."
"Cool." Tech said casually.
There was a sudden silence. Ace glared at Edison, same as his comrades. "What about you?" Edison kept eating his scrambled eggs, ignoring Ace's question. "Hey."
"I don't wanna talk about it." Edison said coldly.
"Oh, is it something embarrassing?" Duck inquired mockingly while raising an eyebrow.
"Not of your business." Edison replied.
"He is always like that, don't worry." Akinyi told Ace.
"Come on, we wanna know, kitty." Duck insisted.
"Duck." Ace warned. "If he doesn't want to speak, leave him."
"But why? What could be so bad that he doe..?" Duck got interrupted by the strong punch on the table Edison gave.
Edison stood up and looked at Duck with a frown, pointing at him. "I'm telling you nothing, okay?! I've been through a lot of crap and the last thing I need now is to remember it! Am I clear enough, idiot!" The people around them looked at Edison with fright and intrigue. Edison sighed angrily and sat down again, covering his face while shaking his head.
"O…kay." Duck mumbled and kept eating.
Ace thought on a different topic to bring up. "So…your powers come from the meteor as well, right?"
"Mhm." Akinyi responded. "I did my best to hide mine, but it came in handy in a lot of situations, I guess that's how Jeremy found out."
"Man, I was scared as heck when I saw another, well, me standing by my side in the mirror." Vale chuckled as well as the others.
"I can imagine. Are they like, uhm…independent? I mean…" Ace got interrupted.
"Oh, no, of course not. They're just projections of me, that's all." Vale answered.
"Otherwise, it would be very freaky." Duck commented.
Vale chuckled. "Yeah, I think so."
"I'll go get some apple pie it's been calling me since I spotted it and I don't want to miss out." Rev said and went to one of the bars.
"He always speaks out his mind, huh?" Akinyi inquired.
"Pretty much." Ace replied. "It has its advantages, though."
"Just avoid talking with him for more than five minutes, you could lose your sanity." Duck said jockingly.
