Well, well, well. Look what we have here. A new chapter just for you guys? Well damn!
Okay, all jokes aside, I'm glad to be back with this chapter. Especially since Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are still new(I got my hands on a copy and am waiting for the game to sync with Pokemon Home). And not only that, but Legends Arceus just came out and my friend and co writer, TheExcadrillComics, is liking it. I might get it, I might not. Who knows?
But enough about that. Let's get to the reviews.
HyenaMan: I have some options(no Cynthia since that would be hard considering she's the Champion… for now).
Messiah of authors: Wow… YOU ARE THE MAN XD!
RHatch89: Thanks.
DragonTamer1: I get where you're coming from with Natsu having Chimchar. But Charmander was MADE for my boi.
BanRedfox: I like the Pokemon ideas you gave me for the characters. Though, I will try to make the chapters a little more than 20 chapters from now on… hopefully.
Shogun lord poke burst: Kevin is the grandson of Professor Rowan.
KingJGamer: That is true. And my friend TheExcadrillComics is also giving Gray an Alolan Shandshrew, so I could do the same.
The recap: After some time at sea, the S.S Gyarados had finally arrived within the borders of the Crystal Empire, though the crew was attacked by a Pokemon named Mareanie. Once captain Nate caught it, the crew docked the ship, allowing team Fairy Tail and Kevin to exit it. But as they thought of where to go first, a strange Vulpix approached the group, followed by its trainer Dawn Hikari, who seemed to be a good friend of Kevin's. Once the group decided on a place to rest, they left the port, unaware of the other two Fiore citizens who came with them.
How will the Fairy Tail group react to more of the Sinnoh region? And what Pokemon will they see? Let's find out…
"Wow! I never knew Sinnoh had so much good food!" Natsu cheered as he ate another scone from the plate, which happened to be his thirteenth one.
"Slow down, would you? People are starting to stare." Lucy whispered to Natsu with an embarrassed tone, noticing some of the looks they were getting. Currently, the Fairy Tail group, as well as their guides Kevin and Dawn, had decided on resting at a local cafe.
"Can't really blame him. I love this coffee." Kevin admitted as he drank his coffee cup with a sigh. He then glanced over to Dawn, who was intently staring at the Fairy Tail group while sipping her drink. "Keep staring at them like that and you might end up burning a hole through them."
"Oh! Was I looking?" Dawn asked with an embarrassed tone, realizing that she was indeed staring at them.
"It's no trouble at all. Thank you for bringing us here." Erza told the blunette with a smile.
"You know, this place really is like Magnolia." Levy admitted with a smile as she looked around, watching as everyone in the town was minding their own business.
"Only difference is these people have Pokemon." Gajeel pointed out as he drank his dark coffee, lazily glancing over to Snowy, who was happily eating a cookie Dawn gave her.
"Can I ask you something?" Romeo asked the two residents of Sinnoh. "The Pokemon. Do people have them for more than just fights?"
"Oh yeah. Pokemon can be pets or they can even help with other things like cooking and construction." Dawn explained with a finger raised. "Heck, some people even take in stray Pokemon to give them a home."
"That's so sweet. I wish I could have a Pokemon." Lisanna sighed at the thought of having a bunch of cat-like Pokemon living with her and her siblings.
"Wait, are you a trainer like Kevin, Dawn?" Lucy questioned with a small tilt of her head, making her smile.
"Well, that is technically true~" Dawn teasingly said with a wink, much to everyone's confusion. She then stood up and gave the Fairy Tail group a cute pose. "I'm a Pokemon Coordinator!"
"... A what?" Gajeel bluntly asked, clearly confused by what she said.
"W-W-What?" Dawn slowly deflated as she noticed everyone's confused expression. She then sharply turned to Kevin, who was looking away while drinking his coffee. "You… you didn't tell them about Coordinators?"
"I mean… was it REALLY important?" Kevin said, not bothering to look at his friend. "Coordinators are cool and all, but Pokemon Trainers that fight Gyms and get badges are a lot… more… fun?" He then turned back, only to see a visibly angry Dawn. She was giving him a deep glare while a red aura surrounded her. "Ummmm… I'm sorry?"
"YOU IDIOT!" Dawn suddenly reached out and started shaking Kevin, much to his discomfort. "You know how much I love being a Coordinator, but you decide NOT to tell the best Guild in Fiore about it because it's not important?! This is the kind of stuff I hate about you! You're such a stupid jerk!"
"Should… we do something?" Wendy couldn't help but ask, concerned about Kevin's health and Dawn's growing anger.
"I think it's best we stay away from this." Lily told her with a sweatdrop.
"Dawn… you… need… to… chill… the… hell… out… you… are… making… a… scene…" Kevin was able to say between shakes, which seemed to have been heard by Dawn. Ceasing with her assault, the blunette noted that people were indeed looking at her like she was a psychopath.
"Mommy, I'm scared." A little girl whimpered to her mother, who quickly picked her up and walked away. A large blush appeared on Dawn's face as she realized the situation before she released Kevin, sitting back down.
"Sorry…" She whispered while looking down. Snowy pawed at Dawn's leg in an effort to calm her down.
"Look, it's not that I hate Coordinators or something. It just slipped of my mind, okay?" Kevin explained while fixing his shirt.
"So… can you tell us about Coordinators?" Lucy kindly asked with a sweatdrop, hoping to move on from the rather awkward moment.
"Right!" Dawn perked up at the mention of her occupation and gave everyone a smile. "Coordinators are Pokemon Trainers who specialize in performing. They enter Contests against other Coordinators and battle to win ribbons."
"Performances?" The girls all asked in unison while the guys just listened in.
"Yup. Dresses, special moves, etc." Kevin lazily told them while waving a finger. "It's all about trying to show off your Pokemon in a way that wows the crowd."
"There's more to it than that!" Dawn countered Kevin with a disapproving tone. "You have to not only wow the crowd, but also the judges. Whoever outshines the competition will get this." Reaching into her bag, Dawn pulled out a pink case before opening it, revealing a rather beautiful blue ribbon with a gold crown pin on it.
"Oh my. That's so lovely." Carla admitted in awe.
"And you can only get this when you win a contest?" Lucy asked, her brown eyes staring at the ribbon.
"That's right. But it isn't easy." Dawn said while closing her ribbon case. "You have to compete with other Coordinators while also impressing the judges. If they don't give you a good score, you won't be able to win. And with enough ribbons, you can enter the Pokemon Grand Festival. Think of it like a major tournament for the best Coordinators ever."
"It sounds very interesting." Erza admitted with a small smile. "How many contests have you participated in, Dawn?" This got the blunette to smile confidently while standing up, putting her fists on her hips.
"Currently, I've won about ten contests overall. Though, I've only competed in one Grand Festival and… lost." She finished before deflating a bit.
"Hey, don't get all depressed now." Kevin spoke up with a smirk. "I mean you still made it up to the finals. That means you're still above average."
"Seriously? Just when you start cheering me up, you HAVE to take a jab at me?" Dawn questioned with a slightly offended tone, though she knew he meant well as evident by the smile on her face.
"Awww. You two are so cute~" Mirajane couldn't help but coo at how close the two were. "Are you sure you haven't dated before?" This caused Dawn to blush brightly.
"PFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!" However, Kevin took it a step further by spitting his coffee… which ended up hitting Happy.
"MY FACE!" Happy cried in distress before he fell off the table, holding his face.
"W-W-What?! No! W-We've just known each other since we were k-kids!" Dawn stuttered in a slightly high pitch tone.
"Yeah, no." Kevin immediately shut down with a blank face while wiping his face. "I'd rather not have a high maintenance girl with an obsession for clothes and a short temper as a girlfriend." This got Kevin a scone to the face, courtesy of a pissed off Dawn. "See?"
"I wish we could see a Pokemon contest right now." Wendy commented with a big smile, thinking about how cute the Pokemon would look in different clothes. All while she used his magic to heal Happy's burns, which weren't as bad as they thought.
"Well, you're in luck!" Dawn quickly said with a happy tone. "There just happens to be a Pokemon contest today and I happen to be competing."
"I was gonna show them around town, but I guess a contest wouldn't be a bad idea. You guys okay with that?" Kevin asked the Fairy Tail group.
"I'm in!" Lucy said first.
"Yeah. That'd be awesome." Natsu added with a grin,
"Aye!" Happy cheered.
"I guess it wouldn't be a problem." Gray shrugged.
"That would be amazing!" Wendy said happily.
"If Wendy is curious, then I am too." Carla agreed with her friend.
"Same." Romeo joined in.
"Seeing Pokemon in cute outfits doing performances… who wouldn't wanna see that?!" Levy rhetorically asked with a big smile.
"Gajeel, would you join us?" Lily asked his Dragon Slayer.
"Meh. Why not?" Gajeel shrugged lazily, not finding an issue with that.
"Could be a fun show." Cana smirked.
"Will you be dressing up your Pokemon, Dawn?" Lisanna asked with a tilt of her head, making the brunette wink at her. "Can I help? Oh! I have some ideas."
"Maybe we should hold off on that. When's the contest?" Kevin questioned. Dawn looked at her watch.
"It's about 12 and the contest isn't until 1:30, so we have a little over an hour." Dawn explained to everyone.
"In that case…" Kevin stood up from the table, stretching his limbs before giving the wizards a smile. "Why don't we look around for a bit? I'm sure you guys would wanna see what Sinnoh has to offer."
"And there's tons of stores to shop in. You would LOVE what clothes they have!" Dawn added dreamily, imagining all the different dresses. The girls of Fairy Tail did have to agree that shopping would be fun… though the guys were of a different opinion.
"Well, while you do that, I can show the guys around. How's that sound?" Kevin quickly answered, as if understanding the guys' feelings.
"That sounds rather reasonable." Erza agreed with a nod. The other girls didn't see anything wrong with that and agreed, much to the relief of the males. Once the group finished their drinks, they split up, allowing themselves to enjoy the peace.
'With the guys'
"Thanks for that, man." Gray told Kevin with an honest tone as the males of the group wandered through the streets, passing both people and Pokemon.
"No problem, man. I know exactly how you feel." Kevin responded with a shudder. "Dawn takes so long shopping. Sometimes, I wonder how she hasn't gone broke yet."
"No kidding. Lucy always complains about rent, but she buys all those clothes!" Happy blurted out from Natsu's shoulder.
"I know, right? Luigi needs to know what's important: food!" Natsu told Happy with a nod.
"That's something we can agree on, Salamander." Gajeel nodded in agreement.
"Alright. What do you guys wanna see-" However, Kevin was cut off when he and the others noticed a rather large crowd nearby.
"What's going on there?" Romeo asked curiously as the group made their way towards a crowd. As they got closer, they noticed the crowd was in front of a large red and white stage.
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen to the fifth annual Akayo Town pie eating fundraiser!" A loud female voice called out as the crowd cheered. Standing on the stage was a young and admittedly beautiful woman, who wore a rather flashy outfit and a microphone in hand. "This year, we're gathering over 10,000 poke dollars that will go to several Pokemon orphanages around Sinnoh. Thank you for your contribution, everyone!" The crowd all cheered upon hearing this.
"Woah. They even have orphanages for Pokemon?" Romeo asked Kevin as he and the others made their way to the front of the crowd to watch everything.
"Yup. It's sad how many Pokemon get abandoned by their trainers for being weak." Kevin told the young boy with a deep frown. "Just seeing those kinds of people makes me sick."
"Now, as a reward for all of you, we'll be hosting an open pie eating contest. Feel free to join in cause the top three winners each get a Pokemon egg, generously donated by the Pokemon Center!" The announcer informed everyone, catching the crowd's attention. Behind here was a large table, with several competitors sitting behind it. Soon, a pink haired woman, whose hair was tied in twin hoops and a nurse's outfit, walked on stage, with a Pokemon wheeling in three sizable incubators.
It was a pink, ovoid Pokémon with stubby arms and dark pink feet. It has tiny eyes and three hair-like growths on each side of its head. The tufts of hair have dark pink tips. On the center of its belly is a dark pink pouch that contains a single white egg. It always wore a nurse's hat.
"What Pokemon's that?" Happy asked with a head tilt. Kevin wordlessly took out his Pokedex and pointed it towards the Pokemon.
"Chansey, the Egg Pokemon. Chansey lays nutritionally excellent eggs on an everyday basis. The eggs are so delicious, they are easily and eagerly devoured by even those people who have lost their appetite."
"Chansey are pretty much the go to Pokemon that Nurse Joy has as an assistant." Kevin wisely explained.
"Thank you for having me here." Nurse Joy thanked the announcer with a bow before she smiled at everyone. "As she said, the Pokemon Center will be donating three eggs to the top three winners of the contest. In addition to that…" Nurse Joy opened her hand, allowing Chansey to waddle towards her and hand her a small case, which contained a small bell with a red bow. "First place will get this Soothe Bell."
"A Soothe Bell?" Lily repeated with a hint of curiosity.
"It's an item that helps a Pokemon become more friendly." Kevin explained to the Exceed. "Not a bad first place prize. And those eggs look pretty interesting. What do you guys th-"
The moment Kevin looked back… only Romeo and the male Exceeds were with him.
"Ummm… where's Natsu, Gray and Gajeel?" Kevin asked the guys.
"Oh, Natsu said he wanted to enter the contest and Gray said he couldn't do it. Then, Gajeel said he would eat more pies, so they decided to enter." Happy explained with an innocent smile, making Kevin sweatdrop.
"Let's do this!" Sitting at the table on stage, with a big grin, was none other than Natsu Dragneel.
"You're going down, ash tray." Gray mocked his rival while sitting next to him.
"Like you could eat more than a Dragon Slayer, frostbite." Gajeel arrogantly told Gray with his arms crossed. "There's only gonna be one top dog, and that's me."
"Is everyone ready?" The announcer asked the competitors, who all nodded in response. Snapping her fingers, the announcer motioned several volunteers to bring in several dozen pies, placing them in front of the competitors. "You have three minutes to finish as many pies as you can. Let the contest…" The announcer raised her hand up before bringing it down in a chop motion. "BEGIN!"
Just when those words left her mouth, the competitors all began to eat the pies in front of them as fast as they could.
"Wow, they are going in." Kevin admitted as he saw how fast the competitors were eating their pies. After just five pies, three of them called out, having stuffed their faces too much. Unsurprisingly, Natsu and Gajeel were eating faster than the others, already reaching their eighth pies. But what was shocking was that Gray wasn't that far behind, though he was still on his sixth pie.
"Look at them go, folks! Our competitors are really pushing their limits! Let's give them some cheers!" The announcer shouted as the crowd began to cheer. The longer the contest went, the more people began to drop out.
Eventually, there were only five people left.
'Keep going!' Natsu thought, his face dripping with raspberry pie.
'I won't let Natsu beat me!' Gray thought determinedly as he slammed his face in yet another pie, covering his face with blueberry filling.
'No way am I letting those two get the better of me!' Gajeel thought as he ate both the pie… and the metal pan under it, shocking some of the audience.
"Thirty seconds left, folks! Who will be our winner?!" Everyone walked closely as two more competitors ended up full, leaving the Fairy Tail trio left to complete the challenge. "Five… four… three… two… ONE!" Once time was up, the Announcer took out a horn and blew it, signaling the end of the contest. "And time! Let's see how much our competitors ate." Walking up to the table, the Announcer began to check the number of empty pans(or lack thereof due to Gajeel eating them). "The one with the third highest number of pies eaten is… GRAY FULLBUSTER!"
"D… Dammit…" Gray moaned as he held in a burp, completely full.
"The person with the second highest number… GAJEEL REDFOX!"
"Tsk. Lucky break, Salamander." Gajeel grumbled as he finished the pie he was close to finishing. If he hadn't spent so long eating the pans, he might have been able to get the jump on Natsu.
"And the winner of the pie eating contest is… NATSU DRAGNEEL!" The Announcer announced loudly as everyone cheered.
"ALRIGHT!" Natsu shouted as he lifted two empty pans, a big grin on his face. He then let out a burp, making him chuckle sheepishly.
"Hang on… she said Natsu Dragneel."
"Isn't he from somewhere famous?"
"Yeah… FAIRY TAIL!"
"And those other two are with his guild, right?" Slowly, the crowd seemed to understand who Natsu, Gray and Gajeel were.
"Well, it seems like everyone figured it out." Lily pointed out.
"Now, now. I know you all want to talk to our special guests." The Announcer quickly silenced the crowd before she turned towards the three wizards with a smile. "But first, let's give them their prizes. Each of you gets a Pokemon egg!" Nurse Joy and Chansey took the three incubators holding the eggs and handed them each to the wizards: Natsu's egg was blue with a red line on the middle, Gray's was green and Gajeel's was light blue with a line of grey in the middle. "And for our first place winner, your Soothe Bell." The Announcer then handed Natsu the Soothe Bell, which he began to look over curiously.
"Huh. A bell? Cool." Natsu admitted before he rang it, surprised by how calming the sound was.
"And there you have, folks! Let's give everyone a round of applause!" The Announcer told everyone as they all clapped their hands for the competitors.
"Okay. They did pretty good, all things considered." Kevin said out loud as he, Romeo and the Exceeds clapped their hands. However, he soon felt someone bump into him. "Oh. Sorry about that."
"Oh my. I'm sorry about that, dear." The person who bumped into the Sinnoh resident was a short elderly woman, wearing sizable reading glasses. "I think I'm a little lost. Do you know where the Pokemart is?"
"Yeah. Just walk down the corner and make a right. It's the building with the big blue sign." Kevin instructed her. "You need an escort, madam?"
"No no no. I can't ask you to do that, my dear. I have a meeting to get to." The elderly woman responded with a smile before she started to walk away. "Thank you!" With that, the elderly woman went her way.
"Think we should've helped her?" Romeo questioned as he glanced at Kevin.
"Maybe. But she said she needed to get somewhere. Besides, if there is any trouble, Officer Jenny can get to her in no time. Trust me." Kevin explained to the young boy while patting his head, much to his annoyance.
However, little did they know… that wasn't any ordinary old lady.
'With Jellal and Meredy'
The two members of Crime Sorciere were definitely out of their element the moment they arrived in the Crystal Empire.
Despite how normal Akayo town was, the addition of Pokemon was rather interesting for the sole duo of the independent guild. From small and cute Pokemon to human sized ones, these Pokemon came in all shapes and sizes.
"I know you want to pet one of them, but please focus." Jellal told the pinkette as he noticed her fondly looking at a yellow mouse-like Pokemon nearby.
"I can't help it…" Meredy whined as she hid behind a wall. "They're just so cute!"
"We can look for more Pokemon later. Right now, we need to keep an eye out for our contact." Jellal reminded her, making her pout a bit before she recomposed herself. Reaching into his pocket, Jellal took out a rolled up piece of paper before he opened it. "They said to be here by 3PM."
"What if this is a trap?" Meredy questioned with a rather serious tone. This wouldn't be the first time someone would try and set up an ambush for them.
"Maybe. But if the information is true, then we'll need all the help we can get." Jellal informed her before he took out his pocket watch. "They should be here very-"
"Excuse me, sonny." Jellal was cut off when the same elderly woman as before walked up to him with a smile. "Are you Jellal Fernadez, by any chance?"
"Ummm… yes. Can I ask who you are?" Jellal questioned with a slightly skeptical tone.
"Why, I'm your contact." The elderly woman confessed with a giggle, much to his and Meredy's shock.
"You're the person who sent the letter?" Meredy asked in a bewildered tone. From what the letter said, their contact would be someone by the name of Looker. Yet, for some reason, she thought this Looker was a man. "Are you Loo-"
"Maybe we should go inside." The woman suddenly said before she walked towards the door, leaving the two Crime Sorciere members looking at her in surprise.
"Should we trust her?" Meredy whispered to Jellal as the elderly woman searched for her keys in her pocket.
"I don't know. Just be on your guard." Jellal warned her quietly with narrowed eyes.
"Where are they… AH!" The elderly woman found her key before inserting it in the lock, unlocking the door. "Please, come in." Without saying a word, Jellal and Meredy entered the building, with the woman closing the door behind them.
The inside of the room was… interesting, to say the least. Multiple maps were plastered on a large whiteboard, several books were stacked on a table, and there were two couches in the middle, a small coffee table at the center of it all.
"Please mind the mess. We haven't had time to clean." The elderly woman confessed with an embarrassed tone. "Sit. Sit." Jellal and Meredy did just that as the elderly woman walked to the mini fridge next to the table, opening it. "Would you prefer milk or lemonade?"
"It doesn't matter, miss. And with all due respect, we're on a time limit." Jellal told her as she took out a can of lemonade and a glass jar of milk.
"Of course, of course. I just want to make sure you're comfortable. It was a rather long trip from Fiore, wasn't it?" The elderly woman asked as she walked up and gave them the drinks before she sat on the other couch. "Though, I must ask… were you followed?"
"No, we weren't. Meredy checked to make sure no one knew where we were." Jellal answered her in a serious tone. "Can we get down to the report, Looker?"
"Yes. But first…" The elderly woman rubbed her throat, as if something was bothering her. "Let me show you my real face."
Jellal and Meredy widened their eyes in shock. Those next words… they were much different as the elderly woman's voice changed into a deep male one. Then, the 'elderly woman' grabbed her face and actually started to pull it, much to their horror.
"Wait! Don't!" Meredy shouted as she prepared to see something gross…
… Only for the 'elderly woman' to remove her face, putting it on the table.
"Ahhh. That's better." Rather than the woman from before, Jellal and Meredy now came face to face with a man who looked to be in his fifties, with dark hair swept slightly on the right side of his head, brown eyes and noticeable wrinkles. "Just a minute…" Standing up, the man removed his disguise, revealing his white shirt under his lightly brown vest, tan trench coat, brown suit pants, pink tie and brown loafers. "It's an honor to meet you, Jellal Fernadez, Meredy Milkovich." The man put a hand over his chest while giving them a bow. "I'm Looker. The real Looker."
"... You wore a disguise the entire time?" Jellal couldn't help but ask while blinking a bit, as if trying to clear his vision. Never did he expect someone like this 'Looker' fellow to wear such a bizarre disguise, especially since he made such a convincing old woman's voice.
"Yes. As an investigator, I need to be able to enter anywhere with the right disguise. Otherwise, I would've been followed and my mission compromised." Looker explained while putting his hands together. "I've read up a bit about you, Crime Sorciere. Despite being a hidden guild, you strive to stop other dark guilds in Fiore. All while trying to escape the law. While I do believe in order, I also think some things are better off done without the watchful eye of the law."
"So, you aren't going to arrest us, are you?" Meredy questioned with a glare, though one hand pat from Jellal eased her up.
"Of course not. I wouldn't ask you to come to the Crystal Empire if it was that." Looker told her with a wave of his hand. "But… I do need your help."
"With what, exactly?" Jellal asked suspiciously. Looker reached into his coat and took out a file, placing it on the coffee table before opening it.
"I know you aren't aware, but we have several different criminal organizations all around the Crystal Empire, and with our advancements in technology, they made it harder for us to track them." Looker then started to point at several insignia on the file, starting with a red 'R.' "This is Team Rocket, the first of many organizations. Luckily for us, a man by the name of Red stopped them a few years ago."
"Red?" Meredy asked with a raised brow, wondering what kind of parent would name their child after a color. However, Jellal shushed her a bit so Looker could continue.
"Then, we had team Magma and Aqua, then team Plasma and so forth." Looker continued as he pointed at several more images before stopping at one. This one had a golden 'G' as its symbol. "But there's one group that's been especially productive. Team Galactic. Unlike the other groups, team Galactic have been stealing, destroying, and even harming the people of Sinnoh for some time, but whenever we got close, they would just disappear." It was clear from his voice that Looker was frustrated by this. "However… my spies found something that made me worried."
Looker took out three photos from the file and showed it to Jellal and Meredy, who gasped in shock.
"That's Lacrima!" Meredy exclaimed as she saw several men wheeling a wagon filled with the familiar stones of Fiore inside a truck.
"Wait… the one in the middle." Jellal took a closer look at the man in the middle and saw something on his neck. It looked like a black bat with red eyes. "I know that Guild mark. It's from the Night Raiders dark guild."
"Glad to know you're observant." Looker nodded in respect as he put the photos down. "Lacrima aren't necessarily a strange thing since even some of our advanced technology requires them. However, the fact that a Dark Guild is transferring them is something of a concern for us. So I was sent in to investigate and I could recruit whoever I felt could help. Naturally, I was going to ask one of the top guilds like Fairy Tail for help, but they arrived the same time you did, so I can speak with them soon. But I chose you…"
"Because we've dealt with Dark Guilds before?" Jellal finished, getting a nod from Looker. "Okay, if we agree to help, what will we get in return?" It wasn't that he was being heartless about the situation. But even he and Meredy needed money for supplies and what not, and he did not want to resort to theft for long.
"You'll be handsomely rewarded for your efforts. Not to mention you will have the backing of the international police department." Looker explained before he gave the two a serious look. "So, will you help us?"
Jellal and Meredy sat there, pondering their next move. On one hand, this whole situation was the responsibility of the Crystal Empire, and therefore, they didn't need to be involved. Hell, the reason they came was because Looker knew a lot about them and if they didn't cooperate, he might inform the Magic Council and have them locked in jail.
But on the other hand, whatever the Night Raiders guild were planning with the Lacrima could affect everyone and not just the Crystal Empire. Plus, from what they've gathered, Looker wasn't lying and he genuinely wanted their help.
After a minute of thinking, the two Crime Sorciere members looked at one another, trying to see any doubt in the other's eyes.
And then…
"We'll do it." Jellal finally answered with a serious tone, making Looker smile for once.
"Good to be working with you then." Looker extended his hands forward, which Jellal and Meredy shook.
This was the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Or at least, one would hope for.
'One hour later'
"And then this guy tried to have his Gengar use Confuse Ray on Greninja, but he forgot that he was part Dark-type, so it didn't do jack." Kevin explained to Romeo and the others as they sat on one of the benches in the middle of town.
"What happened next?" Romeo asked while licking his rocky road ice cream.
"One Night Slash and we won the tournament!" Kevin shouted as he swung his hand like a sword, nearly dropping his coffee ice cream.
"Wow. What did you win?" Happy this time asked with a tilt of his head.
"Oh, just some Poke dollars and special berries. It wasn't a big tournament." Kevin answered with a shrug before he glanced at the older wizards. "How does it feel to be parents, you guys?"
"Funny." Gray bluntly replied before he looked at the egg incubator on his lap. "To be honest, I don't know what to do with this. I've never really… raised something before."
"Hehehe. Looks like I got one over you, ice princess." Natsu bragged with a grin as he patted the top of the incubator, looking at his egg. "I'm gonna hatch this Pokemon into the strongest Dragon ever!"
"How are you sure it will be a Dragon?" Lily questioned with a raised brow.
"Just a feeling." Natsu shrugged, getting sweatdrops from everyone.
"I bet I got a Dragon, Salamander." Gajeel shot back, making Natsu press his forehead against the son of Metalicana.
"Fine! 10,000 Jewel says my egg's a Dragon!"
"You're on!"
"They do realize that the chances of their eggs being Dragon-type Pokemon are slim, right?" Kevin muttered while licking his ice cream. Then again, it was funny to see the two Dragon Slayers bicker like rivals. 'Kinda reminds me of Barry back when we started out.'
*Vrrrm*
The moment of remembrance was cut short when Kevin's Pokegear started to ring. "Hang on a minute, guys." Kevin took out the device and turned it on. "Hey Da-"
"WHERE ARE YOU?!" Dawn's loud voice rang out of the device, making Kevin hang up automatically.
"... I feel like that was a mistake." Happy told him bluntly. Once again, the Pokegear rang, which Kevin answered while keeping it at a distance.
"You did NOT just hang up on me! What kind of guy does that?!" Dawn shouted, clearly irritated by Kevin's action.
"Well, when you have someone screaming so loud, even an Exploud would feel intimidated, you tend to do something about it." Kevin answered with a blank expression. "So, what's up?"
"Check the time." Was all Dawn said, making Kevin raise a brow as he did just that.
"It's 1:25. Why?" Kevin asked in confusion.
"... Did you seriously forget?"
"Forget wha-" At that moment, the gears in Kevin's head started to turn, as well as the others.
The Pokemon Contest was at 1:30.
It was 1:25.
And Dawn was calling them…
3…
2…
1…
"... RUN!" Without wasting another second, the guys began to run as fast as they could towards the Pokemon Contest, all while eating their ice cream.
Miraculously, the Contest Hall wasn't as far as they expected and they made it there within three minutes.
"There you are!" Levy called out as she noticed the group, waving her hand in the air.
"About time you made it." Lucy added with her hands on her hips as the guys stopped to catch their breath. The blonde wizard noticed the eggs in Natsu, Gray and Gajeel's arms. "And why do you have those eggs? You didn't steal them, did you?!"
"Of… course… they didn't… my head…" Kevin held his head, getting hit with a major case of brain freeze.
"We won them in a contest! And I won first place!" Natsu bragged with a grin as he showed off his Soothe Bell.
"That's cool and all, but we have to get inside. The contest is about to start!" Levy reminded everyone as they quickly rushed inside. Luckily, one of the staff members showed them where to sit, which turned out to be a very large concert hall, filled with people.
"Over here!" Sitting near the middle of the hall were Wendy, Carla and the others, with the former waving her hands once she noticed the others. Making their way down, the rest of the group sat next to their friends.
"What were all of you doing? The Contest is about to begin." Carla asked the males with a mild glare.
"We kinda lost track of time. But now I have a question." Kevin spoke up with a sweatdrop as he pointed to the bags in the girls' laps. "Did you seriously try buying one of the stores or something?"
"All of us are currently in a new land, so it's only natural to buy as many souvenirs as possible." Erza answered with a proud tone.
"Besides, some of these are gifts for the others in the Guild." Wendy chimed in with a smile. She felt bad that not everyone was able to come to Sinnoh, so getting them some gifts would be a nice enough thing to do.
"Where did you get the eggs from?" Lisanna asked as she noticed the eggs in the males' hands.
"I won them in-" Natsu was going to finish when the lights suddenly dimmed down, causing everyone to cease with their conversation.
"ATTENTION, EVERYONE! WELCOME TO THE AKAYO TOWN POKEMON CONTEST!" Several spotlights turned on, shining over the main stage. Standing on said stage was a woman who looked to be in her 30s or 40s, with bushy orange hair and blue eyes. She wore a yellow sleeveless dress over a pink top, matching colored skirt, pink leggings, a pink choker around her neck, a pink headband on top of her head, and pink sandals. "I'm Marian, your announcer for today!" Everyone began to clap for the newly introduced 'Marian.'
"Is she famous?" Gray asked Kevin.
"Yup. She and her two sisters, Vivian and Lilian, are known for giving pretty good commentary during a Pokemon Contest." The Sinnoh resident responded.
"I see we have a full house today, which is good. But let's make our competitors feel welcome, right?!" Marian said to the audience, who cheered even louder. "But before our first Coordinator comes on stage, let me introduce our judges!"
"Oh. So they have different judges for the Contest." Juvia realized with a curious tone.
"First is our resident Pokemon nurse, Nurse Joy!" One spotlight turned on, revealing the same nurse as before, sitting behind a stable with a number counter on the front.
"I look forward to judging today." Nurse Joy spoke through the mic with a smile.
"Hey, that's the same nurse from the pie eating contest!" Happy pointed out, only for some people to shush him.
"Next is our chief of the Pokemon Activities Committee, Mr. Contesta!" A second spotlight turned on, shining over an older man with black and gray hair, black eyes and red suit with a black bow.
"Thank you for having me. I look forward to this." Mr. Contesta commented with a calm smile.
"And finally is the president of the Pokemon Fan Club, Mr. Sukizo!" The third spotlight turned on over a shorter man with closed eyes, buzz cut brown hair, and a blue business suit.
"Remarkable." Was all Mr. Sukizo said with a smile.
"Now that our judges have been introduced, it's time to begin the contest!" Marian announced before she took out a ribbon: this one had light blue blue silk and a star in the middle. "The winner of today's contest will get this gorgeous Akayo Town ribbon!" This caused everyone in the audience to clap once again. "First up is a girl who came a long way since her debut 3 years ago. She came in 2nd in the Kanto Grand Festival and returned to Sinnoh to try again. Our first coordinator… DAWN HIKARI!"
"Wow. She's going up first already!" Lucy gasped, surprised to hear that her new friend was already going to show off her skill.
"Guess we're in for a treat." Cana commented with a smile as she drank a bottle of wine she snuck in.
The curtains on stage opened up as the spotlights shined on the sole person running up. It was Dawn, dressed in a pink dress with white outlines, red bows, pink pumps and an upper ponytail.
"Glameow, spotlight!" Dawn shouted before she took out her Pokemon. However, her Pokeball was inside a light blue case, with a heart symbol on the top of it. Once she threw it in the air, the Pokeball and case opened. But instead of just the white energy that a Pokeball would usually shoot out, it was accompanied by multiple pink hearts flying out of it.
Emerging from the light was a gray feline Pokémon with a slender physique. It has a crescent-shaped head with two white-tipped ears. It also has a white muzzle, a small black nose, pink eyelids, yellow eyes with blue irises, and two rows of thin whiskers. Its neck has a ruff-like fringe, and its legs have similar fringes. Its feet are tipped with white and have pink paw pads on the underside. It has a curled, spring-shaped tail and a white fluff at the tip of it.
"Woah! What's that?" Wendy exclaimed in disbelief.
"According to this guide I bought, it's called a Ball Case. And the sticker on it is called a Seal. It's a tool that helps bring more pizzazz to a Coordinator's Pokemon." Levy explained as she read a small guide with the title "Pokemon Contests for beginners."
"Well damn. I didn't know Johann's Glameow had a baby." Kevin whistled with an impressed tone.
"First, use Shadow Ball in the air!" Dawn ordered the feline Pokemon, who meowed in acknowledgement. Opening her mouth, Glameow fired three balls of dark purple energy into the air. "Next, use Thunderbolt!"
"MEOW!" Glameow exclaimed before unleashing several bolts of lightning in the air, striking not only the Shadow Balls, but also the remaining hearts from the Seal. Each one bursted into colorful sparkles, which caused the audience to clap.
"Oh my. That's so beautiful!" Mirajane shouted in awe.
"Follow it up with Aerial Ace!" Dawn told her Pokemon with a small twirl of her finger. Glameow suddenly began to run at a much faster pace around the stage, gathering wind to pull in the sparkles. "And to finish it off, jump and use Iron Tail!"
"Glameow!" Using her strong legs, the feline Pokemon pounced in the air, surprising some of the audience. Then, Glameow's tail was suddenly covered in steel before she cut through the middle of her little tornado, spreading the remainder of the sparkles all around the stage and even to the front row of the audience. Once Glameow landed next to Dawn, both Coordinator and Pokemon gave a bow to show that they were done.
"CLAP*CLAP*CLAP*
The moment they did, the entire room filled with applause and cheers from the audience, mesmerized by the blunette's performance.
"That was awesome, Dawn! WHOOOO!" Kevin yelled while clapping fast.
"I can't believe how pretty that was!" Lisanna shouted with stars in her eyes.
"Not bad. Not bad at all." Gajeel muttered with a small smirk, clapping a bit at the performance.
"Man, that was cool!" Natsu added with a big grin.
"What a fantastic performance, wasn't it folks?" Marian asked rhetorically as she too clapped before she turned towards the judges. "What do you have to say, judges?"
"The way Glameow executed its moves was simply outstanding. A testament to Dawn's skills as a Coordinator." Mr. Contesta first said with a respectful tone.
"Outstandingly remarkable!" Mr. Sukizo chimed in.
"I loved the way Dawn coordinated Glameow's moves with her agility. What a beautiful performance." Nurse Joy finished off with a clap of her hands.
"It looks like our judges loved it! Let's give one more round of applause for Dawn, everyone!" Marian told the audience as they gave Dawn and Glameow another round of applause. Dawn and her Pokemon both smiled before they left the stage. "Now, let's continue with the Contest!"
'Sometime later'
The rest of the Contest went rather well for the most part. Some of the Coordinators showed off some impressive moves, such as a Dedenne rolling around while using Spark, and A Braixen twirling eight sticks while they were using Flamethrower.
Of course… there were a few mishaps here and there, like a Muk who accidentally shot a Muk Shot at Mr. Contesta while trying to show off its marksmanship, or an Arbok who was dressed up like a doll, much to everyone's disgust.
"And now, we will announce our winner for the Akayo Pokemon Contest!" Marian told everyone as the monitor above showed the sixteen Coordinators who had performed, though twelve of them had Xs over their pictures to indicate they didn't advance. "It was an impressive showing today, with some moves even I didn't see coming. But, only one Coordinator will be able to win the Akayo Ribbon. Who will it be? Drumroll, please!"
A spotlight turned on Machamp, who was sitting in front of a drum set, drumsticks in each of its four hands. Hearing its cue, the Machamp began beating on the drum to add dramatic effect, all while the audience waited for the winner to be revealed.
"And the winner is…" Marian paused for dramatic effect, tapping her foot on the ground she swung her arm towards the monitor as one picture grew over the others.
…
…
…
"DAWN HIKARI!"
Dawn's picture suddenly appeared with trumpets playing around it, causing everyone to cheer. Said person ran up the stage, an excited expression on her face. Marian walked over to her, holding out the ribbon towards her, which Dawn took.
"Thank you so much!" Dawn thanked the older woman before she gave a bow to the audience.
"Let's give it up for everyone today! Thank you for coming!" Marian concluded as every single person clapped for the Coordinators.
After Dawn got her ribbon, the audience began to exit the building, though some stayed to either learn when the contest test is or to simply speak with the Coordinators.
*Slap*
"I did it!" Dawn cheered as she and Kevin high fived, the former dressed in her regular clothes.
"Yeah you did. And I had no doubts." Kevin admitted with a smirk.
"That was so amazing, Dawn!" Lucy grabbed Dawn's hands while smiling at her. "Your Pokemon was so cute!"
"And I loved your dress too! It reminds me of one of mine." Wendy added with her own smile.
"Your tactics were truly spectacular, Dawn." Erza nodded with a respectful tone.
"Can you show me more of your ball capsules? I'd love to see what kinds of effects they make." Levy asked, a book in hand to write down any notes she would record.
"And can I pick out your next dress? Oh, I have some ideas!" Mirajane spoke up with a dreamy tone.
"Ummm…. I…" Dawn blushed rather brightly as she heard praise after praise from the Fairy Tail girls. Not only was it embarrassing, but it was also a bit overwhelming to say the least.
"I think they're going a bit far." Gray muttered with a sweatdrop.
"I thought it was cool. Though, I kinda wish there were more fire Pokemon." Romeo confessed with a sigh. Still, he did enjoy the contest for what it was.
"You think they heard everything going on?" Natsu asked as he looked at his Pokemon egg.
"Probably. But still, some Pokemon are still developing when they're in their eggs, so I wouldn't expect them to know you by your voice." Kevin pointed out.
"I heard Natsu and Lisanna when I was in my egg. That's how I knew it was him." Happy chimed in from Natsu's shoulder, earning a smile from his partner.
"Still, I kinda wish there was a fight or something." Gajeel said with a slightly disappointed tone. He was impressed by the Pokemon moves, but a Pokemon battle like the one on the S.S Gyarados would've been much better.
"Perhaps we will see one in the future." Lily told his Dragon Slayer. Kevin watched as everyone talked about how the contest was, a smile on his face.
'Man, they really like Pokemon now, do they? Then again, the way they acted when they saw Greininja and the others made it clear they wanted to learn more. And with the contest, I'm sure they'd love to compete.' Kevin thought with a hand under his chin.
"Is something wrong?" Juvia, of all people, asked, having noticed the look on the Sinnoh resident's face.
*CLAP*
"I GOT IT!" Suddenly, Kevin clapped his hands together, getting everyone's attention.
"Got what?" Dawn asked with a confused tone.
"I know just what to do!" Kevin confidently stated as he pointed to the Fairy Tail wizards. "You guys plan on staying in Sinnoh for a while, right?"
"Yes. Possibly a few weeks." Erza answered with a raised brow.
"And you wanna know more about Pokemon, do you?" Kevin asked rather rhetorically.
"Just what are you getting at?" Carla questioned with a raised brow.
"What's up with you?" Cana questioned with narrowed eyes, making Kevin grin.
"Well… what if you guys became Pokemon Trainers?"
TA-DA! The question has finally been asked! The exact question y'all have been asking for since the start of this story! Okay… maybe I'm being a bit dramatic about that, but who cares.
I hope this was a fun chapter that sets up a few things. The pie contest is obviously a reference to the original story, though this time, Gray and Gajeel also got Pokemon eggs. Feel free to guess what their Pokemon will be. Bet you won't~
Another thing is Jellal and Meredy. Of course I'm gonna include some suspense in this story with these two. Especially since I do wanna give them more character development than what we actually got in the series(Seriously. Jellal could've been much more, but he ended up being a boring guy. And Meredy needs something after what happened with Ultear.) Like with the My Pokemon Academia story, Looker will play a role in the story, so expect him to show up a lot.
Now, don't get mad at me for not adding a battle portion for the contest. I'm making them just like the contests in the games. However, there will be times when Coordinators will battle in a contest, so do expect that. And now, you guys can predict what Pokemon the group will get(and they will get multiple options like in the original story, not just the Sinnoh Trio.)
I am curious about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Let me know which starter you will choose. I might go with the derpy crocodile fire starter just for the lols.
Follow, Fav, Review and PM for anything. Also, please vote on my poll. There is one spot left and I wanna hear what you have to say.
Next time: I choose you!
